Arsenal have reached the 1/4 finals of this competition 8 seasons in a row, reaching one final and a few semi-finals in that time so it's lazy to suggest we are only taking it seriously this season. We still made 7 changes from the team that started against Villa so it's still used very much to play reserves and those coming back from injury. It's just now there is less to choose between our PL side and CC side (whether that's a good or bad thing I'll leave that up to you!)

@HNIC i would like to know who made these statements. I remember making this statement or something akin to it after we beat Newcastle and it seemed like I was over-elaborating.

I think with the 2 midfielders we played yesterday we generally conceeded possesion in the middle. Most ball were being won by the defenders. Even with RVP performing well when he dropped deep to get the ball, I still don't think it is a way to go at all.

Bringing RVP in quite the tricky situation. The question is who gets left out. Seeing as Nasri is on form on the right side of the front 3. Arshavin has the left on lock at least to Baba Ijebu. And Chamahk, well you knw the deal.

And personally I don't think the 4-4-2 makes sense at Arsenal anymore, we have either forgotten how to play it or we don't have the players for it. Vela might be good for the left side. But Theo is quite ineffective for England when they shove him wide. And he's about the only one with the pace to take the right side.

So once again, how do we play RVP. As evident last nite, he his quite a class above these guys.
