@Debo don't quickly dismiss the impact of arshavin's lack of defensive play on that left wing. Sagna recieves's proper assistance from either Theo or Nasri. When Rosicky is there, it is almost holiday time. Why because these guys at least don't shirk their defensive responsibilty in the middle third. And when Sagna gets caught out they try to put themselves in the way. When they don't, we know the result.

On the left side: whether a diagonal is put over the top or an attacker is up against Clichy, more often than not he is standing alone and the next Arsenal player ahead is about 10 yards or so from him.

Notice I have said ahead, which brings me to the booting out thing. I agree he has to choose his moments better, but that has not been an integral part of our play.

Another reason which I feel causes it, is the fact that our most defensive minded midfielder Song covers the right side when we go forward, Denilson, Wilshere, Diaby who get the left side are more attack prone. Might not be a strong argument, but I feel it will have an impact.

@Debosky, looking at list one, I'd say for the DM we'd only just have to return or revert to our former set up. He did very well last season.

As per Clichy, I know he's not popular but I don't actually agree with most people about how bad Clichy is. As recent against ManU bar one or 2 miscues time and time again he took the ball off Nani quite easily. This perception of the horrible defender that Clichy is in my IMO is quite wrong. And to put Baines as his replacement?

IMO we need to maintain a defensive discipline in our game. Attacking comes easy to us, we don't have to worry about it. It is switching off defensively that causes the problem.
