you clearly dont understand finance, go and read up time value of money and discounted rate. I dont know the particulars of the case but i know I thing. If i owe you money and inflation and devaluation means the real value of the naira is falling greater than the interest rate charges on the loan, then the longer it takes to pay you the better for me.

let me give you an example: As at last year I owe you 100m you are charging me 22% interest. but last year dollar was 400, today it is 550. If i paid you that money last year i would have paid you $250,000 but if i waited 1 year despite the 22% interest i will pay you 122m naira which may sound larger to the uninformed but is only $221,000....less than what i owed you last year. So you see the longer it takes for me to pay you in naira, the less I am really paying you. if it were between 2015 and 2021, your 100m ($625K in 2015) will have become 329m naira ($598K) in 2021 despite all the interest So you see it is actually in GTBs interest to delay payment and let the interest accumulate, Innoson is the one losing money because he cannot buy with 329m in 2021 what he could buy with 100m in 2015.

We are a dollar economy, so even though we spend naira, we are really paying the naira equivalent of the dollar. So if i end up paying you less dollars, it is better for me. The Nigerian naira ALWAYS falls over time, so the longer i hold a debt in Naira the better for me...the less I am really paying in future.

You re correct... In other words gtb is using delay tactics on purpose. But still innoson got nothing to loose even if the payment delays for another 10 years as the initial debt was way smaller..... He is actually on massive profit right now

The debt is $60m, the market cap of GTB is $2B. At 22% compounded interest and assuming GTB doesnt grow in that period. it will take him 20 years for his debt to grow to the point that he owns GTB.

if GTB grows at an annual rate of 5 % (very most growth rate) then every year GTB is growing at a rate greater than the debt that is owed (in yr 1 for example GTB is aleady $99m more valuable), so as a proportion of their market cap his debt despite the 22% interest becomes a smaller proportion of GTB's market cap........ therefore he can never own GTB because of this debt

That doesn't mean gtbank can survive 32b loss... It can actually cripple them should they pay that huge amount. Else why ve they been running from pillar to post if it was a chicken change

When they changed their name to gtco then it became clear to me that they were running and hiding from something bigger than them.... But they can't hide, their stupidity must be punished accordingly so others can learn from it not to steal from their clients.

Nigerian banks are notorious for stealing from their clients without their knowledge.... They even steal from young hustling youths. If you ve a lot of inflow they assume you don't keep good record so they tap from it.

If Nigeria is properly restructured today, the amount of foreign remittance will be more than double..... Because there will be increased confidence in the safety of investments in Nigeria since southern government will be trusted to do the right thing for her people more than ever before.

Most diasporas are scare of investing big in today's Nigeria as they can't trust the government given the manner they re constituted. These diaspora Nigerians are mostly southerners so you can obviously see why they don't trust our government.
