To Those Wailers Here Who Kept Shouting Baba Go Slow Here? Is Pa Buhari really ‘Baba Go Slow’? Every developed state was built through slow and circuitous processes. United States of America we all envy today was not built in a century. Neither do China and England were built with ordinary stroke of pen. The fears of diverting public resources to personal pockets as a result of Buhari’s dogmatic to development offered evidence for pessimists and optimists alike is enough for us to foresee the pseudo-utopia germination The day Mr.Buhari was declared the winner of the March 28 presidential election by the Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), expectations from the masses are ocean. Everyone wants changes overnight starting from removal of subsidy, to intermittent power supply, trying of corrupt politicians, increase in standard of education and so on. But the question we need to ask ourselves is, should Buhari tow the same system that kept his predecessor in calaboose of reality and feasibility of public life? The comparative analysisi of Buhari’s childhood administration shows that unprecedented development has been germinating in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari’ s administration generates N2.3trillion revenue for Nigeria through the sales of petroleum products. This is twice the highest amount recorded in the past administration of Goodluck Jonathan. Implementation of UNEP report on Ogoniland, NNPC reforms, Revamp of the Niger Delta amnesty program through proper verification of beneficiaries and payment of funds, Enforcement of fuel price at Naira 87 in most places through DPR among others. Buhari, despite been 73yrs old is undaunted with criticism in bringing all looters to book. Why do you think Nigerian Billionaires stood for Jonathan in the last election? Who do you think oil cabals are? Why are some ex – minister chasing Buhari, around and pretending to be sick? why is a veteran musician (name withheld) Kneeling for Buhari, in public after talking rubbish about him? All these questions need answers before crucifixion of this childhood administration. Therefore, Nigeria has been plundered to comatose by the political thieves and chiefs and for the resuscitation of its socio-economic paralysis, every sector has to be purified. This purification needs time and support of not only Mr. President, but also the generality of Nigeria. Having elucidated my points above, do you still believe Buhari deserves BABA GO SLOW |

Speaking of automobile industry, the past recorded cars manufactured at different countries holding some interesting memories about the shape, design and nick name tag to these cars. In Nigeria today, some of these cars are still seen on the road even though it’s almost extinct but most time such cars are being driven by old men. Such cars are as follows; 1. Peugeot 504 This car reigned in Nigeria for decades due to its strong body metal and compatibility to our bad roads. It is only old men you see driving this car nowadays with huge “agbada” attire. 2. Pick-up This is a haulage vehicle manufactured by peugeot company in the 50-70’s. Despite the fact that it is almost off the road, you will still see old men driving it for business purpose. 3. Beetle This is a German car manufactured few years after WW2. It’s one of the all time most rugged car designed by volkswagen company as it is nick named “Ijapa” in yoruba dialect. Such cars nowadays are driven by old men within the age range of 55 to death do us apart. 4. Benz 80-98 model In the olden days, anybody that is using Mercedes benz is automatically tag a big man even up till now. It is only old men most especially “baale or babalawo” you still see driving the model 80-98 series. Atimes you see the car plate number customised with their local name. 5. Nissan 120Y This brand of car reigned between the 80’s to late 90’s in cities like Abeokuta, Ibadan, etc for commercial use (taxi). It comes with different model but the one common is “salake” as seen used by old men recently. 6. Molue Those in lagos can bear me witness that this brand of bus is still driven by old men in routes like oshodi, iyana paja, abule-egba, etc. The engine smoke, insult from conductor and passengers make this vehicle a dramatic experience when you board it. 7. Tipa This is a haulage mini truck designed by Bedford to carry loads most especially sands and rock peddles. This is still seen nowadays on roads driven by old men. 8. Citron This is an Italian model bus car used for travel purpose in the olden days. Commuter users like Izuchukwu, Jide ofor, fear woman motors, etc used it for long distance journey to convey passengers. You can hardly see this vehicle on road nowadays and if you do, only old men drive it. Cc lalasticlala |

The winer of the 2014/2015 season of the Globacom-sponsored Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will pocket a whopping N80m after proceedings have been concluded on the final day of the league, the chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has revealed. Dikko, who made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on yesterday’s edition of the African Independent Television’s morning show, Kakaaki, said: “The club that wins the league this season will earn as much as N80m in revenue share, merit award, bonuses and kind and even the relegated club will earn a minimum of N55m. There are incentives for away wins, draws, attracting crowds to the games and we also provide official match balls to the teams including kit bags for the players. More importantly, we are seeking pool sponsorship for all 20 clubs so their finances will improve and consequently, the welfare of players as well as drive the commercialisation of the clubs so as to make them attractive to investors” Also, Dikko disclosed that it was high time the government partakes in developing the stadia for the league, because after years of support and financial backing from the private sector, the LMC said it would love the government to participate more and help the game of football in the country grow in leaps and bounds. “Since the LMC came aboard, our funding has been sourced from commercial partnerships as is the practice globally. Though we appreciate the companies that have bought rights from us, we are still not where we should be financially. This explains our recent visit with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the Nigeria Stock Exchange,” he disclosed. Also, he made a case for the game in the nation, citing successful examples around the world. “In the 1990’s, the government of Margareth Thatcher in the UK provided over £200m for the upgrading of stadia facilities across England and that contributed critically to what we have today as the best League in the world. More so, today, the UK Government is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the EPL, generating billions of pounds in taxes, football tourism, jobs and other socio-economic activities that are hinged on the EPL in the UK. We also would seek government’s intervention in this direction. We are not asking for funds to be handed to anyone but for government to directly fund the upgrade of existing grounds and provision of required broadcast equipment and facilities in the stadia,” he posited. http://leadership.ng/sports/455489/npfl-winner-to-pocket-n80m |
