36STATES:If I were you, I will be careful with my utterances on the internet. You may think your identity is hidden or nothing dey happen. Remember, even Jesus said give to Caesar what belongs to him. Oba Akiolu insulted him last week, his palace got burnt a week after. Whether you believe it is coincidental or not, it calls for some carefulness. A word is enough for the wise |
history2900:I have been reading your posts on this thread, and all I can say you are not making any point. If you know so much about Yoruba history like you claim, why can't support your points with historical narrations or facts. You keep saying you've read books in Europe but saying absolute nothing. I even doubt if you know that European history you are claiming, and I challenge you to intellectual discourse on any history in the world. Now to issue of Lagos. Unlike others I won't insult you. I will educate and expect you to come up with counter argument. If you are adept with history of Yoruba and Lagos, you should know that the first settlers of Lagos are Awori people, and their progenitor is Ogunfunminere. The Awori people migrated from Ile Ife just like any Yoruba settlers. Before their migration, they were given Calabash (Awo) and instructed by Ifa oracle to settle anywhere the Calabash sink. The Calabash led them to Isheri were it sank which gave them the name Awori (Calabash sunk). From Isheri they migrated to other parts of Lagos such as Iddo and Lagos Island. Lagos Island used to be their farm for pepper and from where the name Eko (oko) which means farm originated. The seat of Oba of Lagos palace known as Ita Iduganran is derived from the same pepper farm which means Ita (front yard) Iduganran (pepper farm). Now tell me how Lagos did not come from Ile ife. |

janellemonae:I wonder why it is so hard for many of them to comprehend simple write up. The article says his paternal great grandfather who was a prince built the first cinema in the town which the street is named after. Out of stupidity or hate they are still arguing that it's only his mother that's Yoruba. I'm just tired for this people. |
saintfieldcastro:His father's Nigerian side is also Yoruba, precisely from Sagamu |
His origin in Nigeria has been put to rest. The guy's origin is Sagamu Ogun state. Case close Sagamu codedly producing people putting Nigeria positive image on the world map. Just like AJ, they also produce Ogunlesi. The man that owns Gatwick airport |
Bridget95:Last time I will reply you. What killed Ojukwu, Azikiwe, C.C Onoh and Okpara? |
Bridget95:The names of the Emirs were muslims because they were/are muslims. Like I said, you don't know shiit. You are just vomitting the same hate your kindreds always vomit. If you are knowledgeable enough, you will know that the Gambari family that rule Ilorin as emirs are lineage of Balogun Gambari of the old Oyo empire. But who am I to expect a logical reasoning from a hate filled mind like yours. Where is your autopsy report? Still trying to pull it out of your ass. I guess the autopsy reports you didn't read are that of Ojukwu that died of depression in UK far away from his biafra dream and his father's land, and also that of Azikiwe that died of depression from his tribesmen outcasting him and serial masturbation after his wife Flora died. If you wanna play dirty game, I can also play it. Like I said earlier, there are tons of insults I can reply your pettiness with but I will just ignore you for now if you cant engage in a logical discussion |
Bridget95:Well you didn't hit anyone with raw truth, your comment was just filled with bile just like your kindred. Trust me, I can make hundred folds of bile filled comments about Igbo too, but that will be too petty, and I know outstanding Igbos that are not bigots like most of you on Nairaland. Now to your question, Awolowo died peaceful in his country home of Ikenne at the age of 78. I don't know why it is so hard for you guys to fathom that a man can die at an old age without any foul play. Just to ring it to your ears one more time, Awolowo died peacefully at the age of 78 in his hometown just the same way Ojukwu died at the age of 78, Michael Okpara died at the age of 64, C.C Onoh died at the age of 82, Azikiwe died at the age of 92 and Orizu Uwafor died at the age of 79 but you will never hear Yoruba say they committed suicide. When you get old, you die. I don't know how else I can explain it. Now to Ilorin Emirate, if you know what you are saying, you should know that the present Emir of Ilorin is a Yoruba man by the name of Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu Gambari. |
Bridget95:I don't want to start bashing the Igbos because there are still few sensible ones among you. This one that doesn't know shiit about history is talking with her ass. Dahomey ladies chased Yoruba in war? I can't stop laughing. For your ignorant ass, google Egba-Dahomey war, and google Oshogbo war to know the fate of the Fulani. I know you guys masturbate over saying Awolowo took his life, but if you think a man that lived to ripe age of 78 years took his life, pray that you never get to that age in your life so that you don't take yours too. If any has to take his life between Awolowo and Azikiwe, it must be Azikiwe because he was neglected and accused of betraying his people while Awolowo was loved and still loved by Yoruba till date. Use less sentiment and think like a normal person |
Nigeriadondie:Think very well before you make a comment. Now lemme school you on Nigeria history. Awolowo wasn't a soldier, neither was he the military governor of western Nigeria that time. So now tell me how he could have made the west secede? In as much as the Yorubas respect Awolowo, but as at the time Ojukwu wanted to secede, Western region was under the leadership of Lt Colonel Adebayo just like eastern region leadership was under Ojukwu and not Azikiwe. Also, you guys should provide evidence where Awolowo agreed with Ojukwu that his region will follow Biafra secede or stop concorting lies. He wasn't denied chance of ruling like you said, he contested for president position just like Azikiwe and Ojukwu did, but didn't win. If you call Awolowo short sighted, that means both Azikiwe and Ojukwu were more short sighted because not only did Ojukwu lost the secession war, he came back to his vomit by contesting for senate and presidency and losing massively on both occasions while Azikiwe did not only lost presidency, he was never accorded respect by his kinsmen. The domination of Northerners was as a result of military interfering in politics which was started by a delta-igbo guy Chukwuma Nzeogwu. Military had no business in politics, and the moment they did, Nigeria has been paying for the aftermath. If you don't know history, you will repeat what happened to your fore generations. Until you guys sit down, reason what happened then, and use less sentiment in handling political affair, you will continue to be in this victim state of mind |
Don't you guys get tired. Every thread must end in Yoruba-Igbo, Yoruba-Igbo bullshiit arguments every freaking time. You guys should get some life abeg |
How can I become a good author? |
Yay!

Fake or not, this madness just has to stop The inhumane ways we blacks treat ourselves is the reason why we are so backwards. |
I doubt if this data is true because any statistical data from Nigeria shouldn't be taken too serious. If however this data is true, that means Nigerians are very very very poor. If Nigeria with a population 180 million or 193 million according to this source has a meagre 11 million vehicles and Canada with population of about 36 million has registered vehicle of 33 million. Then, this data is very worrisome ![]() |
cocolacec:His comment was very irritating to me. That's taking misogynism to a whole new level. My respect to all lovely women out there |
unclezuma:Thanks for letting me know. For some others, pun was not intended |

Let's respect these intelligent women that has done so well for themselves against all odds in a country where women has to put extra efforts to achieve greatness. You tribalizing this implies ridiculing the achievements of these hardworking and intelligent women |
unclezuma: Blaiseikenna50:If you think Barr. Wike and Barr. Mary Odili deserve to be there, give us their profile and let's see any of the top 11 that should be replaced by them. It is not by saying what of this person or that person |

Odingo1:And you that's living where snow falls should've known that snowfall is not a bad weather. It's part of the climate, and when it doesn't snow in a year, there will be drought. Though it's extremely cold during winter, but that doesn't make snowfall bad weather. It's like saying rainfall is a bad weather. And if you care to know I live in a country that has a lot of snowfall in a year |
beycity:The difference between Ogun and other states when it comes to bad news is that Ogun is the closest state to Lagos, and almost every bad things that happened there get to be reported. That doesn't take away the fact that bad things in almost equal magnitude happen in other states |
