Hatred. But leave them. Very soon, the western ( Europe and America) will use same against them. They forgot the number of Yoruba people holding key positions in foreign countries. Kemi Badehnock is a yoruba lady but a member of parliament in the UK. Canada has stopped admitting ex police officers from Nigeria into their country, very soon it will spread to all western countries. This ethnic bigotry will equally resonate in Europe soon.
Oga. Use Anambra or Abia as example. Did South west people colonized SE like the British colonized Nigeria?

SW Nigeria is not the savior of SE people.

PoliticsAbia, Adamawa, Seven Others Yet To Pay Teachers ₦70,000 Minimum Wage by Slytiger(op): 2:52pm On Jul 16, 2025
Months after the minimum wage was officially signed by President Muhammadu Buhari, nine states of the federation have yet to implement the new minimum wage of N70,000 for teachers.

This is according to data exclusively obtained from the National Union of Teachers on Sunday.

President Bola Tinubu signed the minimum wage bill into law on July 29, 2024, following its passage by the National Assembly on July 23, 2024.

Recently, teachers across the Federal Capital Territory embarked on an over 100-day strike due to the failure of Area Councils to implement the minimum wage for teachers

In October 2024, The PUNCH exclusively reported that 12 states of the federation were still paying teachers, especially those under the employment of the local government, N18,000 minimum wage.

The development means the teachers in the 12 states, as of October 2024, were receiving the old N18,000 minimum wage and had not even enjoyed the N30,000 approved by the late President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to the data obtained from the NUT on Sunday, Abia State has yet to implement the minimum wage for teachers.

In Adamawa, though the state had migrated from the N18,000 minimum wage to N30,000 approved by the late President Buhari, teachers were yet to enjoy the new minimum wage of N70,000.

In Ebonyi State, the minimum wage for teachers was yet to be implemented.

For Enugu, the NUT said the minimum wage had not been implemented, although the state government added N50,000 to the salaries of workers, including teachers, and labelled it an enhanced wage award.

In Gombe, the data from the NUT revealed that the minimum wage had not been implemented for primary school teachers.

In Kaduna State, the government blamed non-implementation on teachers’ verification exercise.

In Nasarawa, Yobe, and Zamfara states, the minimum wage was yet to be implemented for teachers, according to the NUT data.

The FCT teachers recently called off strike, after the area council chairmen agreed to a slash of their internally generated revenue to pay the teachers.

Speaking on the data, the NUT urged states not yet implementing the N70,000 minimum wage to start without further delay.

The union also asked states implementing the new wage to let it reach all categories of teachers.

PoliticsAbia Varsity Lecturers Lament 12 Months Unpaid Salaries by Slytiger(op): 2:38pm On Jul 16, 2025
About 200 lecturers engaged by the Abia State University Uturu, in 2023 have expressed sadness over the institution’s inability to pay their 12 months old salary arrears owed them.

The spokesperson of the lecturers, Chukwemeka Thompson, who spoke with South East Punch on Saturday appealed to the State Governor, Alex Otti to intervene to settle their indebtedness without delay.

He also called on the governor to regularize their appointment in the varsity payroll system.

Thompson lamented that all efforts to get to the governor has been impossible, noting that university’s management has not been help matters either.

According to him, “We were employed in 2023 as staff of Abia State University. We have been receiving salaries, but around June last year, our salary stopped coming. So, we went to the Bursary unit to ask what actually happened and they told us that we should go to the Accountant General office”.

He stated that when they met the university’s management they were informed that they are no longer the people in charge of paying salaries, after they had completed verification and registered and have been teaching, grading and graduating students.

The spokesperson added that they were told that they were under instruction by the government not to pay them at the Accountant General Office, “They told us that the government gave instruction that they should stop the salary. So, we now went back to the management to find out what actually is going on and to give them the update of what happened. So, they said yes, that the government is now in charge of the institution and the autonomy of the institution.

"Months have passed, we didn’t hear anything. They keep promising us they are still working on it. Till around December (2024) when information came up through one of our colleagues who told us that the governor has resolved the matter and that we are going to be paid in December. We waited till December. We didn’t see any salary.

“We have not been issued any disengagement letter. We have not officially seen anything. But we have our employment letters duly signed and given to us individually. We keep pleading for them to please try and reach out to the governor that we are really suffering.

Also speaking Dr. NwosuNkemakolam Bright and OkpechiChinemerem pleaded with Gov. Alex Otti to reconsider them, especially as he has given the university the authority to recruit lecturers

“We are pleading with Governor Alex Otti to pay us our arrears as he did to other ministries, including Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba workers. He can still consider us and have mercy.” They said.

Reacting, the chairman of Abia State University, Academic Staff Union of Universities, ChidiMba, said he was aware of the predicament of the lecturers, adding that there was the need for them to be fully integrated and paid, “since they have employment letters and have not been given sack letters”.

He said’’, Since the State Government approved new staff intake and most of them are qualified and have been teaching, grading and graduating students”, they should be considered because they are suffering.’’

PoliticsDangote Submits Paperwork To Build Nigeria’s Largest Seaport In Ogun by Slytiger(op): 9:14pm On Jul 14, 2025
Africa and Nigeria’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, is taking another major step in the expansion of his industrial empire with plans to construct a deep seaport near his existing fertilizer and oil refinery plants.

The initiative is aimed at boosting export capacity and strengthening the Dangote Group’s logistics operations.

Speaking in a recent interview in Lagos, Dangote confirmed that his group submitted formal paperwork in late June to kickstart construction on what he described as “the biggest, deepest port in Nigeria.”

The planned Atlantic seaport will be located in Olokola, Ogun State, approximately 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the group’s massive fertilizer and petrochemical facilities in Lagos, according to Bloomberg.

Currently, the Dangote Group exports fertilizer and urea through a private jetty built near its refinery site. This jetty also serves as the landing point for heavy industrial equipment.

The proposed port will offer an integrated logistics solution for the group’s growing operations and may soon compete with existing infrastructure like the Chinese-funded Lekki Deep Sea Port, which began operations in 2023.

“It’s not that we want to do everything by ourselves,” Dangote said, “but I believe this kind of investment will inspire other entrepreneurs to get involved too.”

I think Ohaneze Ndigbo should order the Igbo businesses that are the so called "developers" of the Lagos economy to return to the South East where they are genuinely needed.

In five years, they will build another Lagos in the East & reverse the migration westwards.

It can be done. grin
