Sure, it is going to affect everybody. But in the long term, we will have to adjust and make the best out of it. I think staying together in this false country would make more suffer in the future. It's already happening.

chatterly: i really wonder why a particular part of Nigeria is so negatively obsessed with the yorubas,ok the yorubas will starve abi?
Why not let us wait till then and see what happens!!!!!!
No need to wait, let's make it happen. All parts of Nigeria, at least the ones not satisfied with noise making, should insist on a referendum on the legality of the Nigerian state and to determine members of newly independent countries. I know Biafrans are ready for that, we just need other Nigerians to join us, instead of waiting for Godot.

na2day!:
I'm amazed at the level of ethnic hatred going on in Nigeria.
If nairaland is the pulse of the nation, then I'm afraid all hope is lost!
Can't we all work together without one section trying to pull the other down? Or dominate the other?
India has about 28 states and 400 languages and they are all working together to make the country an Asian power house .
How many are we, that we feel, our state will be better after separation?
Wake up guys, changing our looters will not change the country, what will is abandoning this kind of hatred and mentality, building structures that will inhibit bad leadership and calling all our leaders to account!
Well, if India was Nigeria, since the Sikhs are stereotypically entrepreneurs, the same amount of hatred the Igbo have directed at them would be directed at the Sikhs. Their properties would be expropriated and they would be killed. Since the Indians did not do that to their progressive members, they have seen economic growth and prosperity. That is the difference between India and Nigeria. And lest I forget, one of the things India did was allow Pakistan to leave. Nigeria has to consider similar pragmatism.

Dude, do some research. The aviation sector worked under Kema Chikwe's stewardship. All manner of Nigerians were employed in failing institutions, but it failed due to leadership. So no need trying to extenuate your guilt, the failure was due to Oga-at-the-top, who was definitely not Igbo while the mismanagement was ongoing.

And just so you know, a lot of what is imported from Dubai is made in Abia state.

ba7man: Lagos has been before the Igbos mass emigrated to it and will be after you leave. Those businesses you leave behind will be taken over by people that recognize the opportunity of your absense......and frankly, Lagos needs to be de-populated, so feel free to leave.
False little man. Whatever progress that came into Lagos was as a result of investments by the colonials. And guess where the money came from - money pooled from all over the federation. That includes money from coal in the East and the North. What ever you see in Lagos, neither you or your ancestors built it. It's the bitter truth, sorry you had to hear it from me.

And yes, Lagos does need to be depopulated, but I think that's your cue to leave. Unless you can reimburse my tax contribution to this state with interest, you have no right to tell me where to go. Interesting that we were told to stay during population census.

django1: ^^^the question that comes to mind then is that why is igboland still backward with all the igbos of the world in it?

You mean little to lagos, stop your unneccessary arrogance!
My question to you is, since we mean little to Lagos, why not conduct a referendum to make it official? I know me and my Igbo brothers contribute more to economic growth of Lagos state than you and your kith, so you mean even less to Lagos. If the East had a tenth of the federal money that was poured into Lagos over the years, we would have gone farther. Unlike other parts of Nigeria, everything we have, we built from scratch. Even the electricity grid had to be done by contributions after the war while it was done with federal money elsewhere. The parts we are not doing are the ones that federal law prevents the state from doing. Leave our ports to us and see what would happen. You Nigerians have even destroyed the ports of the South South.
Fact remains that, this state, nay country, would be no better or important than Somalia without Igbo contribution. It is not arrogance, just a statement of facts.

topazjos: topazjosh: you may be right to some extent, yea some bank branches may close down, but more better and strong establishments will be on ground, yea they will definately cause by then lots of ibos, hausas, fulanis, south southerners might have left, that's decrease in population,we actually need that, though ibo are not the only non indigenes doing business in lagos, stop claiming such false, lots of hausa, south southerners, meanwhile we still gonna have lots of foreigners allover
the world residing in lagos,we yorubas will be happy having a more less stressful, clean lagos, with less social crimes, fake products, unnecessary over
population, then lagos will be peaceful, meanwhile the mega city will still be the most developed city in africa and one of the world best.
i never said igbos are the only businessmen in lagos, however our mass exit will shock the very bone marrow of trade and commerce in lagos. Why isnt ibadan clean, rich, and 'mega' since igbos are very few there? The village-city is still the way it is since the 60s, with the first tv station, stadium, univ, and only one skyscraper! Ibadan should have been mega by now, wetin happen?
FYI, lagos is what is today because it was the nation's capital thereby attracting foreign and local investments, and also because igbos are there as governors, commissioners, and mostly, business tycoons, big time entreprenuers, and federal civil servants.
@topazjos
Lagos would be no better than Ibadan with Igbo mass exit. Don't think Lagos can stand on its feet without its cosmopolitanism. This is the only advantage Lagos has. Go and read about similar cosmopolitan cities where mass emigration occurred and see what is left of them. Read about Lahore in Pakistan and what became of it after emigration of Hindus. You don't even need to go too far, find out about Port Harcourt - find out how set it was to overtake Lagos and what became of PH after they seized Igbo properties. Nothing but stagnation awaits Lagos or any other city that despises the most important contributors to economic growth.

No. No one sent me. I posed a question. I am trying to find out the efficacy of the policy in Cross Rivers. I have no direct interest in the state. I am actually Igbo from one of the South East states, so I have no direct interest in the local politics of the states of the South South. I am only interested in the implementation of capitalist policies and the success of such policies.
PoliticsHow Is Liyel Imoke Performing? by SmartTalk(op): 5:40pm On May 31, 2013
I read a piece in the newspapers suggesting Liyel Imoke is pursuing a private-sector led growth model in Cross Rivers. Private businesses are supposedly investing in manufacturing, agriculture, food processing, oil refining, etc. Of course there is the known investment in power generation by General Electric in the state. I would like to know how far he has gone. Those who travel should please inform us. I have always believed in encouraging the private sector to lead the economy and, if what I hear is true, I think Cross River is going in the right direction. I just want to know how far they have gone in industrialization.
PoliticsRe: Tribalism Vs Democracy - Can Africans/Nigerians Ever Break The Yoke Of Tribalism by SmartTalk: 10:01pm On May 06, 2013
What is called tribalism in Africa is called nationalism in Europe and elsewhere. The solution lies not in wishing it away but in addressing the issues. The right to self-determination of Biafrans must be recognized. Nothing good can come out of a country that forces unagreeable nationalities together such as is the case n Nigeria. Nigeria - as many other false nations - is doomed to failure and underdevelopment. The breakup of Nigeria is inevitable. It is God's will. Africa would be great again, and Biafra would lead the way. God bless Biafra!

Da infamous: Ok you are still going around the circles. Most countries you mentioned, you should remember that there are Jewish communities among's them,i want to see your evidence about Ethiopian jews and i will show you more evidence to prove you wrong, don't forget,People of color who are pro or anti-Israel are such for several different reasons; and like all things anthropological - it is very complex.

In the Western world there is no nation/people more guilty of crimes against Black people (and people of color) than the United States of America. In the Western world there is no nation/people that has done more to build a multiethnic, free democracy than the United States of America. Hence, the Black man/woman's ambivalence around Israel and the US.

Biafra can be possible if igbos do the right thing. I wish that ndi Igbo would use this radio biafra to fight the rot, the ills, the directionless and wickedness in the Igbo society. I read this morning that an Igbo state government is planning to buy and give brand new SUVs to traditional rulers (some of whom already have many of such). And not minding that the traditional ruler is an alien anomaly to ndi Igbo, most youths in the state in question are not employed. Some of those that are working are doing jobs that one should not even assign to enemies, like bank marketing. And many have been forced to take up vice and crimes to survive. 100 SUVs can set up many industries in the state. If Radio Biafra can fight to make ndi Igbo to start thinking well, it'll have earned relevance.
Try the link www.youtube.com/results?hl=en&gl=NG&client=mv-google&q=rt+news+Ethiopian+Jews+birth+control&submit=Search .
More specifically, I was talking about news report in the link www.youtube.com/watch?hl=en&client=mv-google&gl=NG&v=pdaZNfDB8Qs .

And setting up Biafra must move beyond Radio Biafra, that's why I set up the thread www.nairaland.com/1248907/preparing-east-post-nigeria-future giving practical suggestions to deepen Eastern economic base. We have useless governors in some South East states as in other Nigerian state because too many are ignorant. If we don't have intelligent discussions on our future, the governors will not do that for us and expecting Radio Biafra to do all the discussion on our behalf is derelict on our our part. The NairaLand post has very practical suggestions that we can carry out and puts the responsibility of supervision of the government on the citizens, not the governors. The problem is not the governors, it is the clowns who would reelect useless governors. Case in point, the Abia state governor, Theodore Orji.

I saw that claim in an RT news video (will post the link as soon as I can). But there is no doubt that Ethiopian Jews are suffering discrimation both in Israel and in Ethiopia. The new Israeli beauty queen in their national pageant is black, from Ethiopia. She got a lot of racial insults after that. Most Ethiopian Jews live in the poorest communities in Israel. A lot of these problems are as a result of the poor background they come from. It was the same for the Irish in America. At a point, most of the people in jail in America were Irish. That changed as Ireland, free from British oppression, built their own country. We Biafrans must do the same.

So you are ready to show the world how igbo hate the hausa and yaruba that they are ready to sacrifice almost 11 million of your people when the civil war break. And funny thing there are less then 3 million hausa fulani and yaruba combine in south and south east combine
Who says we have to follow the route of Sudan? Who says the number of people dead from all Nigerian conflicts plus the civil war is not more than that of Sudan? I am not sure of your statistics on Igbo residency but who says those resident there right now are safe? What has been done about all the killings against Southerners in the North? You see, my friend, your argument strengthens the case for secession. If Biafra was independent by now, any killings of Biafrans would be an international event, not just a local one that can be ignored like it currently is. Kill a Ghanaian and see what happens. Kill a fellow Nigerian and nothing happens.

Man, Abia is a very important state in the South East. It is the future manufacturing capital of Biafra. With its proximity to Port Harcourt (relative to other South East states) and the entrepreneurial, inventive, innovative and hardworking population, they have only been beset by incompetent leaders. If someone like Peter Obi was their governor, they would be breaking industrial records and blazing the trail. The roads that the current governor has let go bad have frustrated transport for local business men. I wonder how the current clown got a second term. The first consideration for those that want genetic confirmation is the experience of Ethiopian Falashas in Ethiopia and Israel. I am not against testing, but the experience of the Falashas shows that the Igbo should first fight for Biafra where their rights can be protected and defended. The Israelis do not respect the Falashas and the most grievous news I have heard is that Ethiopian Jewish women are being sterilized to control black population in Israel. It may well be conspiracy theory but I think any people who build their own nation state are more respected. The Irish were disrespected in the West until they built their Irish free state. The Chinese were disrespected in the US until China emerged from its slumber. This is the fist discussion we should have: www.nairaland.com/1248907/preparing-east-post-nigeria-future

Strange how non-Igbo people are getting aneurisms about this subject. Why is it soo important to y'all. Yoruba claim they come from Saudi Arabia or wherever else it the middle east and nobody loses sleep over that. There might be some historical interaction between Igbo tribes especially in the north of Igboland and Nilotic people or people of the middle east, after all it is on record that Judaism preceded other Abrahamic religions in coming to Africa, but that is not important. I am Igbo, first and foremost; I am African, I am a proud Biafran. That is my identity. I believe in freedom of religion. If some of my Igbo brothers want to identify as Jews, that is up to them, nobody has a right to dictate to me or anyone else what his identity should be. We determine that ourselves, not Europeans, not other Africans and definitely not Nigerians.

berem: 2015: Kalu Takes Igbo Presidency Campaign To UK
28.04.2013, 10:56 Local
A former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor
Kalu, has taken the campaign for an Igbo to
become Nigerian president to the United
Kingdom.
In his speech delivered to the British House of Commons, a copy
of which is available to read , Kalu stated that the Igbo were being
discriminated against and prevented from becoming President.
Kalu told the lower House of the British legislature that Njiko
Igbo, an organisation, he coordinates, was "dedicated to the
struggle for the ascent of a citizen of Igbo extraction to the
presidency of Nigeria in 2015."
He said the group was formed because of evidence of anti-Igbo
bias in the way the political architecture of the country was
constructed.
He said, "We are neither supportive nor opposed to any political
party or the aspirations of any individual politician. Our primary
mission is to enlighten and mobilise the Igbo population, both at
home and in the Diaspora, to stand firm and unite in the pursuit
of our collective goal. Our secondary duty is to connect with and
persuade the rest of the Nigerian population about the justice of
our cause.
"Our methods will be conciliatory, unaggressive, solicitous and
flexible but without being amenable to the easy compromises
and defensiveness that reinforced prejudicial assumptions about
us as a people.
We shall seek to accomplish our mission in a manner and style
deferential to elders, respectful of the sensibilities of other tribal
groups and faiths, attentive to criticisms and open to
disputations."
Kalu insisted that the group campaign was not based on the
practice of zoning the presidency, which was made popular by
the Peoples Democratic Party.
To buttress his argument, Kalu noted that the South-East
geopolitical zone populated by the Igbo, had the least number of
states, local governments, federal constituencies and senatorial
districts.
A chart he presented to the British legislators showed that while
the North-West has seven states, 186 local government areas, 92
federal constituencies and 21 senatorial districts, the South-East
has five states, 95 local government areas, 43 federal
constituencies, and 15 senatorial districts.
Kalu also listed over 12 massacres of the Igbo in the North,
beginning with the Jos massacre in 1945, the Kano massacre in
1953, to the recent Boko Haram attacks.
He said a disproportionate percentage of the victims were Igbo.
