aletheia: At topic:What makes you think the Nigerian airforce is also not assembling beat-down Russian trash as aircraft? Even the name "Air Beetle" is insulting. What is important is getting the Knowledge locally - that is how technology improves over time - and not how basic the system is at the start point. If you interact with an early version of Windows OS or Macintosh OS, or indeed the internet, you would not be able to recognize it. What you know as the Toyota Car Company started by copying Ford's technology. If Biafra seceded, they would have built on the technology. That is what the Biafra of the future would place emphasis on, investing in technology and rewarding private initiative. God Bless Biafra! |
jason123: Lol. You simply cannot say I am trying to annex anyone. If you read my post, I was protecting the interest of the SS. I said, why should the SS join sides@Bolded Several have tried that. It has never worked. Ken Saro-Wiwa tried it, look where he ended up. Rather than looking to make profit from a bad situation, seek instead to build partnerships and mutually benefiting alliances with whomever you want. You must respect their needs as much as you want your needs and aspirations to be respected. Choose carefully! |
torkaka: You forgot to add kano and eastern kebbi Standing5: Biafra! . . . Wtf is that pls? Is it a ''Seaport-less Island Nation''? Standing5: Biafra! . . . Wtf is that pls? Is it an ''Island Nation''? dayokanu:
Gaddamit, Mumbai didn't make it for consideration? Surely new york made it! demmie1: Kanuris are for Biafra and I also have the contact of Ugandan zonal Coordinator. South Africans too are begging to join.Really? Are y'all actually a part of this conversation? |
Hardfact: Hmm, scary! Smart indeed.Wow, I am in awe of the depth of your thoughts and hardness of your facts, whatever they are. |
Demdem: i have always known that the boundary of the so called biafra will be a contentious issue.Nah! Does have to be. That is the purpose of a referendum. The parts of the East that choose not to go with Biafra can stay with whatever remains of Nigeria. Biafra does not need excess and unnecessary baggage. |
Throughout history, the people who had wanted Nigeria to be one the most are foreigners. The reason NCNC had to cooperate with NPC was because the British encouraged it. When leaders of the North expressed need for secession on several occasions before and after independence, it was the British that told them not to. The condition for independence was that if one region moves against it, it would be called of. During the counter-coup of 1966 and the attendant genocide, it was British and American diplomats that dissuaded Northern leaders from secession. It was Russia and Britain that supplied arms, Britain supplied advisers to Nigeria to wage the war on Biafra. Nigeria's continued existence and the inept leadership has ensured that these foreign powers can get the resources they need at the lowest price possible. Nigerians had never agreed to live under a single sovereignty. So I ask, even for those who hold hope for Nigeria's unity, beyond oil, what is the basis for that "unity" and is this "unity" desirable. I cannot control the maturity of the response to this topic but I do hope the intelligent comments would predominate. |
solajacobs: After a serious thought about the part, the present and my vision for Nigeria, i decided to come out with this topic to reassure my people from all tribes and religions that indeed, a new day is coming.despite the fact that the nation has witnessed all sort of things since its inception, yet, what interests me most is that we can jointly make Nigeria a nation of our dream. Our attitude must change, our life must reflect the good image of our dream. I dream of a great nation where everybody irrespective of our background, would live together in peace and harmony., I dream of an highly civilized nation where exportation of our scientific initiatives would be a culture., I dream of a nation where there would be no poor or illiterate., I dream of a nation where the security of lives and properties is guaranteed., I dream of a nation flowing with milk and honey., I dream of a nation where there is neither south nor west, neither east nor north but one big family called Nigeria. What is your dream for Nigeria?I think you are getting it mixed. It is Biafra you are dreaming of. All that cannot happen in Nigeria. How can Nigeria export scientific initiatives when all the technology Biafrans created were dumped. How can Nigerians see themselves as one when they mouth off stuff about a fair society that they would like but tell them that landlords are refusing tenant and they say "leave am like dat". Biafra is the way. |
jomogbomo: I see some Igbo morons here commending GEJ for this. . . Have you stopped to think about what happened to the dry port he promised the Eastern region? How come the SW gets thiers b4 us? I am well aware he made us that promise year"S" ago! So far NONE of the promised projects have commenced or been completed in the East! A lot of paid idiots in here I tell you. What about Onitsha river port? I believe that one is done. Bros, forget central government. Let's do what we, the Igbo people, do best - leave Nigeria behind. The Private sector should lead all investments. I don't trust federal govt. Just watch what would happen to this dry port in the next few months. The same thing that happened to Ajaokuta steel. Big Government equals Big Problems. |
geez*:If that was the case, you would not be getting hot and bothered about every mention of the sacred word Biafra |
bilms: Few weeks ago or is it month ago, some people in Enugu state declared a Biafra Republic which according to them, would fight against any nation fighting Israel.I think you should be more concerned of the fact that your beloved Nigeria does not exist. |
felifeli: Surely you mean Land of the SETTING sunI think you are confusing Biafra with Nigeria. |
omonori1: ZIK: “LET US FORGET OUR DIFFERENCES AND MOVE ON”.Even from all the comments, we can agree that none of the factors that unites us makes for nation-building. |
geeez: Why can't people focus on their non performing governors and leave Lagos and the SW? If our governors in the SW aren't performing, it should be our headache not the Igbos. Why should they be taking Viagra for our erect!le dysfunction? If Igbo people were not leaving in Lagos, then maybe your post would have made sense. Yoruba not complaining about their governors? Which rock did you crawl out from? |
truth4meal: I don't know why you have to dress the tribe in anonymous garb - we all know some Igbos hate the progress of Fashola and SW as a progressive region. I think dis fanatical criticism of Fashola if channel to their kidnap raven region wuld ve helped them push their gov to action. Criticism to me is good in a democracy - as a tool if well utilised can make for better governance. Having said that I think criticizing Fashola when we can behold the wonders of his govt is a mere waste of time. I knw some igbos did not just lose d war they also lost their sense. Eko oni baje o!!!Nigerians and their infantile mentality. The Igbo are a big part of Lagos and Fashola's govt. His Commissioner of Finance is Igbo and that is why you see that the infrastructural projects of Lagos state are well done. Compare this with when only Yoruba were in Tinubu's govt and you understand why that govt went nowhere. God Bless Biafrans. |
I am not surprised that even in the essay about lack of phone service in Calabar, the writer found a way to blame Ojukwu. What's next, "my wife has always been giving birth to triplets, it's Ojukwu's fault". By the way, an Ijaw columnist has referred to the Igbo as a nagging wife always complaining about marginalization. That does not stop the Igbo from kicking a$$. Saro Wiwa was in the tank for the same Nigeria that killed him and helped Nigeria. He was therefore complicit in the genocide in Biafra. He killed many children, What makes his own life precious anyway? |
Notice that most of the companies mentioned are either oil companies (which are from government patronage), government-subsidized companies or companies that were favoured by discriminatory government policy. I think the right question to ask is where would the Yoruba be without the government? |
Ricky_Ross: Pls let no one be deceived, this Onitsha port is not worth 4.6 Billion Naira. I was too excited when i read about this port on the internet, but just few days ago I passed through the river Niger on my way to Asaba and i cant believe this small warehouse is the so called port? Why cant they give us a port as big as the one in Lagos? This is a warehouse to me and not a port, the place is just too small. I took pics of the so called sea port from river niger but am too ashamed to post it here.I agree that the contract was likely inflated and the scale of the port is small but it doesn't need to start big. The growing economy of the East would create enough cash for the ports and it would be obvious to the managers that it needs to be expanded. Just like the Heathrow airport where there was some debate between those that said an extra runway is needed and environmentalists. And when it needs to be expanded, there would be no need to wait for the Federal government. CyberG: It is not fair that you put the blame of what you consider an under-executed project on some other geo-political zone and Federal Character. Why not look inwards and see the problem for what it is, not finger pointing? Is it another zone that is responsible for an over-inflated contract in which sizeable percentage of funds was frittered away? Your estimate on the cranes are so off, which were most probably bought in China (See Alibaba.com). Cranes worth millions of dollars are usually European/Japanese/Americans, see http://www.portek.com/publications/Crane_Prices_Boom.pdf for reference. In the end, it is the duty of the stakeholders to ensure that the project meets all set expectations in quality as they would be aware of the entire project plan and they had a chance to influence it before it was completed. If the stakeholders jointly compromised and NO ONE had been screaming about it from the get go, neither you nor they can go blaming some geo-political zone thousands of kilometers away! The other zones that mooch off work done in more productive zones must take responsibility for the inefficiency of the system. And yes we can blame them for over-valued contracts, did u not read that it was federal government contract? Federal Character is why our universities are nowhere in global rankings. geeez: In my opinion this project is a waste of funds. They can as well dredge it further up to Lokoja which is close to Abuja. The EIA should show that as a region prone to errosion, dredging of an adjoining waterway shouldn't have been contemplated in the first place. The coastal states of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers are enough to build ports that can serve the whole of Africa. They can build Dry Ports with rail lines from Sea Ports instead ...I think building all those ports in those states you mentioned and hoping for rail lines that would be run down would be waste of money. Since Onitsha and Nnewi does a lot of importation and exportation, it stands to reason that they should have their own ports. This port is long overdue. It would reduce the expense and risk that Onitsha traders have to face dealing with transport from other parts of Nigeria. The only suggestion you made that I consider valuable is the one on railways. I agree but they must be privately managed. Let all the Ifesinachi, Young Shall Grow, ABC and other experienced transporters be encouraged to get into this business if it would stand a chance of not being run down like all other government managed businesses. A Public-Private partnership will do but government must be the minority partner or else they would use Federal Character and quota system and other nonsense to spoil it, not to mention contract overvaluing and other government corruption. |
Rhino.5dm:Well if the steel mill was located in Onitsha like it was suppose to, and not Ajaokuta and if its management was left to private investors without government interference, then you would not be complaining about whether the cars are made in Nigeria or not. That we do not produce our steel has nothing to do with Innoson but more to do with people that do not want development being in the government. |
asha 80: small and medium barges not big ones that birth the lagos ports.crude oil is already being moved from there to onne port.Whatever economic gain gotten from using a big barge in Lagos ports would be lost in the check points, bad roads and taxes of Lagos state. Ultimately, the River port would be a cheaper option especially for Eastern traders. |
geez*:The commisioning of this port does not stop work elsewhere, don't get your panties wet. It only means that Onitsha traders do not have to depend on Lagos ports and the bad roads between the East and the rest of Nigeria. It would also make importation and exportation cheaper for Eastern traders. In your post https://www.nairaland.com/1122516/igbos-powerhouse-nigeria you asked why the East is not pulling the same statistics as the West but now you complain about infrastructural development that would make that happen. Cheer up, man, the East is catching up after the genocidal war and would surpass the rest of Nigeria in due time. Be happy that the GDP figures would be more reflective of an enterprising people in the east. ![]() |
Why can't we use the Igbo and Yoruba enemity to our collective interest
