Zionmdde: Yes I have seen yorubas freely speak their language in those places without any harassment. Infact like hausas you can hardly find to yorubas speaking English to themselves. It is commendable though but others should be allowed to speak theirs freely too Lies. I was there. The average Igbo person is friendly enough to a reasonable degree. But you cannot deny that once language and tribe enters the picture there is a certain degree of segregation. Once you don't speak Igbo, the average person becomes so interested in knowing exactly where you come from so that they can know where to place you. This is true even among the different groups of Igbos, within themselves. So how much more, outsiders? I particularly witnessed an Igala woman weep bitterly over the gang up against her by her Igbo neighbours, even though one of the neighbours was herself married to a northerner! Tribalism is human nature. Stop the hypocrisy. |

It's now left for the igbos to make sure that our lands are peaceful, safe for investment and free of all criminal elements. Ipob is not good for our land, sit at home is not good for investment, wipe them all away
My only prayer is that these widespread hatred can lead to a clear resolution to build a resilient igbo land that every Igbo would not want to leave Have you ever wondered what it's like to speak yoruba or igala in Igboland? I have seen how Igbos treat outsiders first hand. Stop the hypocrisy! |

Politics › Re: CAN Dismisses Christian Genocide Claims, Says Terrorist Attacks Patternless by SmartyPants(m): 6:39pm On Oct 07, 2025 |
All to sound politically correct. One of the main issues that commenters miss, either deliberately or accidentally, is the fact that not all the violence is driven by the same root causes. Boko haram is largely a religious-political ideology that persecutes all non-adherents. But masking this issue under boko haram is misleading because boko haram doesn't operate in Southern Kaduna or Benue, where the issue is largely ethnic and religious rather than simply political.
I just can't understand what would make these Church leaders so quick to defend the ineptitude of the people who should be protecting their people. Misplaced sense of allegiance? |
Politics › Re: Enugu State's IGR For 2024 Exceeds All North East States Combined by SmartyPants(m): 3:55pm On Oct 07, 2025 |
ImpartialGuy: Actually, there's nothing special about IGR. It means that a state is taxing their people higher than others. I don't know why you are comparing Enugu to other regions. Are you celebrating Enugu State govenor for taxing his people more? Poor understanding of governance and economics would lead you to say such a thing. The ability of any government to create effective governance structures is tied to its ability to mobilise funds. There are only three wayss to mobilise funds: a. Through exploitation of natural resources b. Through taxes c. Through beggy beggy In Nigeria, state governments do not control natural resources. This is the exclusive preserve of the federal government, which may or may not permit the states to excploit their own resources. However, thanks to the federal structure, all States recieve some portion of income from mineral exploitation through federal allocations. Is this enough to fulfil the development agenda? Obviously not. So clever States set about augmenting FAAC receipts by other means such as taxation. Provided taxes are not excessive, this is simply good governance. So what does IGR show? One, that a particular state is not simply sitting downa nd waiting for federal allocation. Two, the economic performance of the state is reflected in it's ability to generate income, given that the more business activity that goes on in a state, the greater its abilty to collect taxes will be. I don't expect to see you repeat such poor takes in the future. |
Politics › Re: Governor Mobolaji Johnson Declared: “Lagos Is Not A No Man’s Land” (Throwback) by SmartyPants(m): 10:50am On Oct 07, 2025 |
Hedonisco: All this talk is irritating and meaningless. You can't eat your cake and have it too. Nobody is dragging Ogun or Osun or Ekiti. There has to be a reason.
With the trillions of Naira that have poured into Lagos due to the 'accident' of it being the Nigerian capital for over 60 years, with the attendant unfair advantages that has accrued to it as a result, it would be annoying to keep mouthing this rubbish talk. It is what it is.
Tomorrow now, the Ggagyi people or whatever they are called would raise shoulder to start forming ownership of Abuja/FCT and entitlement, and one emergent big belle tribal god will be shalaye-ing that he laid the 'blueprint' that 'developed' Abuja and that other Nigerians in Abuja should go back to their villages. We need to clear some things. Did the Gbagyi people ask anyone to seize their ancestral land and make it FCT or whatever? The audacity of stealing someone's land and turning around to claim bragging rights on top of it. Funnily, if one follows your argument, then only the regions which have actively contributed to the national cake should be the ones laying claim to the FCT in the name of massive investment. But curiously, what we find is that those whose regions have contributed little or nothing to the federal purse are the ones laying claim to the fruits of federal investment the most. The irony is truly regrettable. |

Cromagnon: where are you from which state what's your governor ? you think when your governor becomes your new president that he will change anything abi you think angels will become your new politicians Of course, the governor will not change. What will change is local pressure. The removal of the national cake and the concentration of power in the hands of the governor will force his own people to demand results. Abuja, as the seat of power, is an abstract concept to most, but when the person responsible for our suffering is a son of the soil, the reaction is bound to be more urgent and more deliberate. |

1. Balkanise the country on day one. Everyone who wants to go will be helped to leave immediately.
2. From there, the remaining partners will be organised into true federal entities in every way and tasked with self-governance while the centre will be tasked with the critical functions of overarching economic policy, external security, oversight of internal security in a state-policing model, elections, and critical infrastructure like ports and interstate highways.

Same way the APC Lagos bloc are now exploiting ethnicity to attempt to win the Southwest. Both are polarising but you don't care, so long as you benefit from it. Why do you people lie and rewrite history so much? Of course the general complaint was that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was a cover for islamization. Is this coherent? According to this Dangote staff member, engineers earn about N400,000 monthly, including overtime. After taxes and deductions, take-home pay can fall below N200,000.
“We are even taxed on allowances like birthdays or overtime. Out of N500,000, you could be taxed as much as N164,000,” he said. If a person earning 500k is taxed up to 164k, then how can a person earning 400k be taxed over 200k? The math is not mathing. |

The average Nigerian is not community-minded. The thought process is that we have oil, so why should I pay tax? The average Nigerian would rather use their own money to build a nice house and buy a nice car even if the road to that house is completely dilapidated. You will go to certain communities and observe nice houses all around, but terrible roads. Something a few people in that neighborhood could put their hands together and fix. |
