malali: Current SDR Obligations by Nigeria to IMF.
Despite settling the principal, Nigeria continues to have financial obligations to the IMF: • Outstanding Purchases and Loans: Approximately SDR 1.53 billion, representing 62.5% of Nigeria’s IMF quota. • Projected Payments: • 2024: Principal of SDR 613.63 million and charges/interest ranging from SDR 32.34 million to SDR 78.69 million. • 2025: Principal of SDR 613.63 million and interest charges of SDR 36.95 million. • Annual SDR Charges: Approximately $30 million, continuing post-repayment.
Say the whole truth, dont minimize it.
If I ask you to explain what SDR means you will bite your tongue. Rest and stop misleading yourself. The misguided report you are desperately clutching onto rightly points out that there are interest payments aside from the principal. These payments were scheduled to be paid until 2029. Nigeria has simply paid earlier. The writer of that report is looking at a loan schedule and assuming that since the interest is scheduled to be paid until 2029, then it cannot have been paid in 2025.
That shows you the level of thinking intelligent people have to contend with in this Nigeria. Such a burden!
G0odharddick: A sane society would convert those lands to agriculture to produce more food in the country
Because all the other land has finished? There is no problem with using the land for agriculture if it is aligned with the appropriate department, and used for research and development. Otherwise, farming for the sake of it is not the business of universities.
dawnomike: Lagos is not for the faint hearted... I have considered relocating back to the city of Ibadan several times. But, I cannot can
It's not for people who don't really know what they want to do there. Lagos is for people who have concrete plans and know exactly what they want to achieve. Too many people come just hoping to stumble into opportunities. I wouldn't recommend it.
njokuuche77: If everyone keeps jumping ship to the ruling party, are we still running a democracy or just dressing up autocracy? The next election won’t just be interesting, it’ll test whether we still have real political choice in this country.
Do you know you can also join LP and replace these people leaving? Or is politics only for some special class?
njokuuche77: A one-party system might work for China, but Nigeria is a different terrain entirely because we thrive on diversity and the balance of opposing views. Democracy is about options, accountability, and healthy competition. If every dissenting voice joins the ruling party, who will question excesses or check abuse of power? What’s missing isn't more defectors, it’s stronger institutions and performance based politics. Nigeria doesn’t need fewer parties, what we need are parties that actually serve the people not just switch sides for survival of stomach infrastructure. We dey watch una.
What have the diversity and opposing views done for Nigeria? Just give me an example of how these have helped governance.
jchioma: Rufai is a journalist and shouldn’t be attacked for expressing doubts about a report that he is not sure of the verifiable facts. Even ordinary Nigerians like me expressed doubts. Not because we detest good news from Nigeria but because we want it genuine.
And how did it go? Nigeria has yet to complete full payment. It will continue payments till 2029. So, why blame the heaters who doubt and not the propagandists.
A journalist who expresses doubt instead of doing his work by getting information to share with the public is better off doing animal husbandry. Incidentally, that's exactly what this fellow studied professionally.
blessedinnoma: We don't need Tinubu in Anambra. Even Tinubu visit was useless to us . Many Anambrians didn't come out emass to welcome him because he stole our brother's mandate. Tinubu will soon be chased away from Aso rock.
Assuming the election was really stolen, how is Atiku your brother?
Nazgul: I've done it before in Lagos. Ojuelegba bus stop to be precise.
The policeman tapped my glass and told me to wind down my window. When I did he put his hands inside, opened the front door and sat down. He claimed I didn't put on my trafficating light before making a turn.
I didn't argue with him or talk to him, I just faced western avenue that leads to Ikorodu road, climbed the bridge and continued firing. He later told me to stop him at fadeyi, I dropped him off and zoomed off.
He knew he was doing an illegal work that's why he wanted me to drop him before another patrol unit sees our drama.
Nazgul: The man sef has time to be exchanging words with him. Step on your gas pedal and fire away, increase your speed and climb any bridge you see, it's him who would be begging you to stop so he can come down.
The help me help me, e de carry me de go where I know no video comes to mind.
In Abuja? You will be very sorry for yourself at the end of the day.
Kobojunkie: Her husband is probably the one pimping and using her to rip other men off. We are still talking of a woman in India, after all. Hope she has not been killed and buried somewhere by her husband though.
Even when the write-up clearly says she was arrested? Softly softly ma/sir.
Lanretoye: I don’t subscribe to acquiring afford for over a £100m and you can’t invest €1m in Remo stars after coming to Nigeria to enjoy fame and such hospitality. People quoting me on this comment should just understand that the money may not necessarily be an investment but a way of giving back to the people of Nigeria cos that act will still give the local club more publicity internationally and improve the local league to an extent, that’s the power of our celebrities and they can use their capacity to build our brand.when ahmed Musa came back to Kano pillars it wasn’t about the money he wanted to make but the support for the club.
How can you boldly subscribe and unsubscribe to what another man is doing with is money? Did you also subscribe to collect the blows he collected in the ring? Subsribe to common sense this year!
NtoAkwaIbom: she said arise was bought over and then provided some audio evidence to show d woman's lack of credibility... it's up for asleep to now show impartiality by giving the story big coverage as it grows
But I never said otherwise.
You are talking about what they should do if they had integrity - I'm saying they won't do it.
redcliff: Propagamda no dey run govt. These controllers of Lagos Ibadan media are working round the clock to ensure that nigerians who are not smart keep being deceived. What is "legacy" debt? Nde Ara!
It's not complex. Legacy debt means debt inherited from a past administration. In Nigeria's case, all IMF debt is legacy debt because Tinubu has not borrowed from the IMF.
kenn4rill: It's like this EFCC has outlived it's usefulness, just targeting Nigerian youths left and right and centre whereas the main people committing the real financial crimes are walking freely. Even Yahaya Belo somebody they claim to be looking for when to their office but dey couldn't arrest him.
Small time they will start arresting husbands for beating their wives.
shortgun: One of the most embarrassing moments for me was one fateful morning when my mum walked into my room and saw that. I didn’t know how long she had been watching but I tried to hide it shamefully when I woke up.
As if she didn't have a husband. She surely understood.
SULBELL: The bolded is a capital YES, He jumped right to coaching Anderlecht after playing rejoining them from Mancity. He moved to Burnley form there and attached is his PL record with Burnley (won just five matches in their return to the top-flight), where he was SACKED to be appointed as head coach of Bayern.
So can you tell what his coaching pedigree was before the Bayern Job?
You are setting your own question and setting your own answer the way you like. You must know that Anderlecht is not anywhere comparable to Bayern. For a player of Kompany's stature, Anderlecht was not a jump. That's a low level club suitable for a first-time coach who was an elite level player. At Bayern he would have been coaching players who were at his own level or better than him. That is a grossly different dynamic, not to mention how much higher the stakes are at that level.
So Fashanu may go and start with Benin Republic and we will see how he does from there.
owobokiri: I think Gullit too.., and the other Italian guy that died of cancer or so few years back.. SmartyPants has never been that smart anyways..
My guy, rest abeg. Suggesting that a person who has never coached and who has been out of the game for 30 odd years should walk into the Super Eagles job will probably be the lousiest idea you'll have this year. At least, I hope you have much better ones for your own sake.
