DeepSight: That a purchase has been in the offing is beyond cavil. That it has been done is what I am learning. I didnt even know it had been done. Omne teenager has been offering me insults for not knowing.
My issue is why the FG would proceed with such given the situation in the country and all its cries for sacrifice. Sowore previously claimed it had been done already before it came to the public attention. Looks like he was right. A shame if true. |

DeepSight: Maybe later, but try and follow the story, Two were Jets we have sold and one was a jet we just bought - for $100 million - in spite of public outcry against the purchase. I have seen that claim being widely circulated but I don't think any serious person should take rely on what is currently being circulated. For one, 90% of reports I have seen are relying on the original report by the Premium Times which itself is scanty as to details. When exactly was this jet supposedly acquired? They should be able to tell us that much. |

SpatialKing: Where are all the so called IGR generated by Ogun state? They claim Ogun IGR is higher than the entire south east region..Ogun state should have save Nigeria from this international shame and embarrassment.
Why did Tinubu go ahead to purchase not one but 3 Three jets knowing fully well the situation of Nigeria economy where did the money come from?
Finally what's the essence of still maintaining diplomatic or slavery relationship with western countries like France and USA ? Why can't we cut ties with them like Burkina Faso, Mali and Chad have done?
This shows that USA have something damaging against Tinubu and they are using it to control his government like puppet..
Yet again APC government a Yoruba/Hausa/Fulanis party has brought shame to this country... Your level of comprehension is shocking. Where did you see that these are new jets?? |

The achievements of Nigeria on the international stage like the Paris Olympics, Employment rate, Economy, Education, Science, Health care etc but Nigeria Is a big failure in all these and you have the audacity to think Nigerians are doing relatively well.
As the biggest black country Nigeria is a failure in all ramifications, the country is not getting better because of people like you that refused to acknowledge the truth.

jaxxy: What fraudulent contract? How was Jonathan's government involved in this so called alleged institutional fraud?
I'm not familiar with it that's why I'm asking to be sure?
And what has Fg got to do with a states private agreement with a private Chinese firm? That's the big question isn't it? My comments are for those who are blaming the current Fg. Not only is the Fg not involved, but the current one is not involved in anyway but the thread is full of people blaming it. So I'm reasoning with them by the method of unreasonableness which is what they understand. |

Kukutenla: No. The initial settlement was not even up to a billon though it was still not justified. The fact is that all those who pulled the P&ID scam had deep influence in Buhari's govt reason they had to go and look for one woman who was a director in the ministry to hang the blame on as if a director can unilaterally sign such documents. APC shielded the main actors. APC is evil. Lol. The initial agreement was for 11bn usd my friend. Obviously you have very little knowledge of this case whereas I have studied the entire initial judgment. The principal actor was the Attorney General of the Federation sir. Maybe you don't know how these processes work but there is not deal Nigeria signs that does not go through that office. Maybe you may need to confirm who that person was. The ridiculousness of claiming APC is evil for not prosecuting all the main actors but the PDP govt that they belonged to is not evil just makes me feel second hand embarrassment for you. As I said, you are simply way too desperate to make unecessary political points. https://thearbitrationbrief.com/2024/04/30/what-we-can-learn-from-the-notorious-pid-v-nigeria/#:~:text=P%26ID%20alleged%20that%20Nigeria%20failed,P%26ID%20an%20astonishing%20%2411%20billion. |

jaxxy: ok if they have been had meetings with the company as u stated and had a resolution then that's fine but was the were all these meetings and agreements documented and legal binding? if so why will the company then start hunting us if we had a legally binding resolution? Of course these meetings were not and could not possibly be legally binding when there was a fraudulent contract already in place. That is the point! The series of fraudulent contracts that were signed while Jonathan was in power was a pattern of deliberate fraud designed to make Nigeria lose at international arbitration with kickbacks for the officials involved. It is a scam that has existed for as long as PDP has existed. |
Politics › Re: US Court Affirms Chinese Firm’s $70m Arbitration Award Against Nigeria by SmartyPants(m): 8:46am On Aug 16, 2024 |
Kukutenla: Was it the arbitration clause that made Amosun unilaterally cancel a contract without thinking of the consequence? The agreement was cancelled in 2015 by Amosun APC gov with the Attorney General of APC not calling his attention to the implications of such tardy move. I've seen how folks like you fail to understand that the P&ID case was already settled till Buhari came in and refused to pay the settlement. Even at that, most of the Nigerian actors are northerners who are presently in APC or have you heard of anyone going to jail for the malfeasance? The PID settlement was pure fraud that would have seen Nigerian lose billions of dollars for absolutely nothing, just like the current case. Something that has been successfully defeated at the British courts and you are saying what exactly? Now you want to make it about northerners as if that has any bearing on the issue at hand. From where to where?? |

Achoghim: Jonathan left office in 2015, right? The news says the FTZ agreement between Ogun state and the Chinese company was abruptly terminated in 2016, that is under Buhari. That means everything was going well until the APC government came onboard. Did they give any cogent reason for terminating the contract? Weren't they aware of the potential penalties? I guess they wanted to use it for political patronage but it is now backfiring. Even if the agreement was faulty, who was the governor that signed it? It's OGD, who is currently an APC senator. Are you sure you read what you replied to well? |

why didn't they do anything since to resolve it and why wait until a courts outside our shores take a decision in it b4 we react? This is not the 1st time it's happening. why can't we deal with the issue completely and move on? What on earth are you talking about? So you've not read that they've been meeting with the company to sort out an agreement and even reached a settlement that the company reneged on only for that company to start ambushing Nigeria at international tribunals? Okay kindly highlight the actions that should have been taken instead. |

Kukutenla: Seems you fail to realise that these judgements are being given against Nigeria because 1. Foreign investors do not trust our legal system to get the right redress due to how they see it has been bastardised by APC 2. APC has always been incompetent in handling international arbitration matters. This is just another case 3. APC is a disastrous calamity on the nation You have no clue what you're saying. Arbitration clauses are standard in bilateral agreements involving a State party. So APC was in power in 2010 when the initial agreement was made right? Mention one agreement signed under APC that is currently the subject of arbitration. It is PDP with their series of fraudulent deals that have put the country into this arbitration mess. If anything at all, it took APC to rescue Nigeria from the PID scam Jonathan plunged us into and you know it. Have some integrity for once. |

Nope the current government takes up all benefits and liabilities of past governments as the case maybe. Its the current government's duty to either correct any wrongs by past government or defend the actions of the past government. You lot are fond of pretending not to understand issues. Has anyone said the current government shouldnt take action to defend the nation given the current situation? Are they not already doing it? JohnBullMySon: They can be seized If they were not under active government use, which they were not. It is up to them to contest the order in French courts
Nigeria is part of the CREFAA UN convention. If you go into business with a foreign country and they use state power to defraud you, invoke the arbitration award in the existing legal agreement at the UN or go and get damage awards from your own country and have UN recognize it. If they recognize it, you can use it to ask any UN signatory country legal system to order seizure of foreign assets of that country within their jurisdiction as long as they are not under active diplomatic occupation (most UN countries signed the agreement). Can you cite the particular articles of the Convention you have relied upon in coming to these conclusions? |
