DavidEsq:When no one in your family has ever distinguished themselves nor amounted to anything tangible or notable, why won't you disparage your elders and the dead? If your parents and forebearers had sense and home training, they would have passed some on to you, but since they could not give what they don't have, we have the misfortune of sharing cyberspace with a gutter snipe. schoolboij:BBWA (which later became Standard Bank and is now known as First Bank) was the first bank in Nigeria. Founded in 1894. |
cbrass:No, that is not what I mean. I mean, if you give them the required 2 weeks or one month's notice, they will pay you for the period worked and you won't have to pay them anything. However, if you fail to give them the 2 weeks or 1 month's notice required, you have to pay them the equivalent of your salary for 2 weeks or 1 month (or if they are due to pay you, you will forfeit such pay). |
@ OP, Is there a closing date for applications? |
cbrass:Payment in lieu of notice means, where you fail to give the 2 weeks or 1 month notice required for probationary or full employment respectively, you have to pay them either 2 weeks or 1 month's salary/wages in place of the notice you did not give (i.e. you pay them in lieu or instead of giving them the notice). Hope this helps to clarify things. |
lifeispeace:Whilst I understand and appreciate that you are pouring out your heart with its frustrations, IMHO you have not posted anything that will let a genuine good Samaritan help you job-wise, except you are seeking commiserations and/or handouts from people. It would help you better if you had put the degree you have, the class (e.g. 1st Class, 2nd class Upper etc), a brief line or two on any experience you might have (even if only NYSC) etc. Just keep everything brief. That way, people with vacancies that you might be suited for might leave a comment asking you to send your CV or to invite you for an interview. All the best. |

PETERiCHY: PETERiCHY:You are a bit of a tosser. You sound like those ignorant Americans who blamed Obama for every little niggling issue after Bush had screwed up the economy. You can't even do decent sarcasm. Your constant whingeing and/or attempts at faux self-deprecation is cringe worthy. Might be best all round if you move from vacation mode to permanent exile mode. |
ibe9ja:The guy thinks that this is those days of analog trading. Because he does not trade online, he did not know that people can see what and what has been bid and also what is correspondingly on offer. He is just shouting out things like 'I have placed an offer for one million units of May & Baker' and 'I deposited 2 Million Naira with my broker to buy stocks' like some imperious nitwit. Empty vessels make the loudest noise. |
NaijaProperties:Nah. Was just passing through. |
Hmmmm....People still dey buy properties in this current economic climate? |
ihedioramma:I know my brothers and you are definitely not one of them. ihedioramma:Go Figure! ![]() |
ihedioramma:Mr. Man, Try to talk intelligently on a public forum. It may not come easy to you, but at least try...instead of coming across as a misogynistic as*hole. ![]() |
manie:Great analysis Emmanuel. Fabulous job. Might I add that when we add the dividends received of N1,418,430.00 (from 2000 till date) to the current value of the shareholding which would now stand at 214,500 shares (due to the 1 for 10 bonus announced for the 2014 financial year), the value for the shareholder becomes N2,512,380.00 (214,500 shares at today's price of N5.10 per share equals N1,093,950.00) which is over 25 times the initial sum of N100,000.00 invested in year 2000. If the shareholder had ploughed back all the dividends received into buying more FBNH shares over the years, the value gained and wealth accumulated by the shareholder would be significantly more/higher. So though the price of the FBNH stock has yoyo-ed over the years, the shareholder has really lost nothing of his investment put in originally. CAVEAT: This relates to investments made over the years and should not be deemed as a recommendation (or otherwise) by anyone. |
manie:If Oando's management is cunning, they will hold their next AGM in an off-putting place like Borno...that way, not so many irate shareholders will attend. |
OandO don do many people shege. Owo community ti jona o. Me, I hope [people like] Dumexoga is okay o. I saw him lurking on this thread, probably taking in the comments over the disaster that is the Oando results. I am still annoyed that I did not dump my tashere Oando shares before this car crash was publicised...I am equally grateful that I did not let greed carry me away to invest massively in this catastrophe. Thank goodness for small mercies. |
SWG1:Did somebody call my name? I just got up to date on reading this thread. I was busy trying to haunt down Sallah ram. This credit crunch is hitting most people real hard o...haba. I know a few of my Muslim brethren that could not afford to buy a ram this year. All the awoof meat I usually get were apparently chased off by the mammoth bear and deplorable economic situation. In addition, it is said that we are heading for a recession. Fasten your seat belts Ladies and Gentlemen, its going to be a bumpy ride. |
Forte Oil's gain is something else. It looks like that stock is on steroids o. When other major players are are flip flopping, FO looks like it has a mind of its own. The problem with many speculators is that they get too greedy. If you are a mid to long term investor, some losses or gains may not bother you much, but for all the JIJO maestros out there, this is the kind of situation that has proved the undoing of many hitherto speculators and led to heart break in the past. Know your limit. Be bold where others are fearful, but most importantly, DO NOT BE RULED BY GREED. |
Wouldn't it be nice if the creator of this thread (Stockbull) was to comment on its one thousandth anniversary? Speech! Speech!! Speech!!!!! |
It is only on this Page 1000 that you will see all the old hands. Sighted Stockbull (Does this mean the coming of the bull to the NSE?). Also saw Born2berich, Pass, Ihio, Agba, Dumex Bigass, Myjoy, chuky, Ogoo...even Carpenter join sef. While I look forward to a green portfolio, I need the bear to still trample some stocks so I can load more. #LongTemInvestmentThingz ![]() |
Manonamission:Abeg cool down o.... I was saying that there are bargains to be had and money to be made on other stocks (not just the usual suspects).Born2berich:I took a note of Forte Oil. The margins were not as juicy as PZ for this week but I have had my eye on it for yonks and I watch it like a hawk. I am still kicking myself for missing the opportunity to grab some when it was circa N150. The stock had taken off by the time my dough was ready. Finally, I have always been female o...ALWAYS. No Bruce Jenner/Caitlyn sex change operation going on here. |
Everybody has been busy looking left at Oando and Transcorp while astute investors/speculators made some brisk business and profited over 25% on PZ between Monday and today. There is always money to be made (and lost if one isn't careful) on the NSE. |
KAI!!!!! Dear Ucheson, buy now and forever hold your peace. |
FBNH over Oando at current prices |
Maross:FBNH paid in 2014 for the 2013 FY a dividend of N1.10 and it paid N1.00 in 2013 for 2012 FY. However, many feel that it would likely be lower this year than in the two previous years. |
mazumathe1st: tanx my oga...I bought japaul and it wz executed within 15mins thru meritrade...@60k...oya sentiments shld come and push ds stock like eterna oilHiya, was this done today? |
Aks: Good morning guys, i have a feeling that the fees my stockbroker is charging is on the high side (BUY -1.855% & SELL - 2.185%), I'll appreciate you guys to help me send rates @ ur respective stockbrokers end and revert. Is that Lead Capital? Cos that is the total of what my broker (Lead) charges, though their own commission is 1.35% for both buy and sell. The rest are fees, taxes etc. |
gift01: Give us the facts of this AP rise i.e the price rise and range of movement so we could see how you got 7h%As of the 27th of November 2013, Forte oil's shares have increased by over 1300 percent. A friend of mine has Forte Oil shares (left to her by her father). As at the 2nd of January this year (2013), she had 26,400 shares which were trading at N7.73k, giving her a worth of N204,151.20k. As at the close of market yesterday i.e. 27th of December 2013, Forte Oil was trading at N108.30k per share and those shares which were worth a little over Two Hundred Thousand Naira less than a year ago are now worth over 2.8 Million Naira. |

fdigital: Are they afraid of Nigeria breakup. They will remain in Naija. They are only going offshore since they cannot justify the loses. Someone else can inherit the headache of thieving locals. |
After complaining bitterly about double standards, the most recent Davinci thread was moved to the Religion section, so I guess this one will be staying here. Let's just hope that the moderators respect this thread and let people express their legitimate views without them modifying or censoring their posts. |
Sisikill:O ma su mi ke. This is the 2nd time the thread has been moved. I have seldom (if ever) visited the Islamic section and it raises my gore that I am being FORCED here when I do not belong in this section. I am waiting for the overzealous moderators to once again start censoring and locking the topic. |

Actually, why it seems most people focus on the likes of Transcorp, Oando, FBNH, Access, Zenith etc is because of their volatility and huge volumes. Easier and faster to make (and lose money
I was saying that there are bargains to be had and money to be made on other stocks (not just the usual suspects).
