The sale bid was won by Messrs Goopex Nig. Ltd., which has taken over the assets of the Company after due payment to the State Government.
Edo State Fertilizer and Chemical Co. Ltd.
The foundation stone of the Fertilizer and chemical company was laid at Auchi in May 2000 by the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. The project was established to blend NPIL fertilizer primarily to help farmers in the enrichment of the soil to improve agricultural yields. The location of the project was informed by the raw materials; availability in Edo North senatorial District of Edo state. The sum of N300 million has so far been spent on the project. Following the state Government’s application for a loan facility, the Nigeria Bank for Co-operative and Agricultural Development approved a loan of N250 million to complete the factory building, buy substantial raw materials and commence production.
Edo State Fruit Juice processing Company, Ehor
The state Government has almost completed the building of the Fruit Juice processing at Ehor at a cost of about N432 million. The idea to set up a factory for the extraction of juice from fruits at Ehor stemmed from the abundance of fruits required as raw material for such a factory.
Presently, the company is awaiting the arrival of the automatic form fill packaging machine with chillers for installation before commissioning. The factory is expected to provide direct employment to over 50 persons. it will also have a multiplier effect in that several persons wilI be directty employed in the sale of the products and supply of the raw materials.
Cassava Processing Company Limited lromi
The cassava processing Company Limited is located at Uromi, the headquarters of Esan North East Local Government Area, Edo State. The project will’ involve the processing of cassava tubers into industral products of chips, flour and starch The need to harness the vast agricultural establishment resource of the state informed the desire to establish the agro-processing industry’ The State Government has spent about N483 million on the industry which is expected to commence production within the next few weeks.
Existing Industries
The State Government, within the last seven years spent N123,566,727 to carry out maintenance work in the existing industries.
Establishment of Small Scale Industries
The State government is also involved in the establishment of small scale industries in various parts of the state. These include, Usen flour mill, raw materials Fugar Ceramics lndustry’ Okada Textite Mil, Raw Materials Display Centres in Benin City’ and Technology Business lncubator Centre BeninCity the sum of over N41 million has been spent on these projects.
Maintenance Of Industrial Estate
The State government within the last seven years has spent about N77.113,000 in the maintenance of existing industrial estate.
Technical Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation (TCPC)
A bill on the setting up for the Technical’ Committee on Privatisation and commercialisation (TCPC) was passed into law on 3rd Jaunuary, 2001. The law empowers the committee to carry out all activities necessary for the 118 privatisation and commercialisation of government enterprises in Edo State.
TCPC is also taking appropriate steps towards the privatisation of other government owned companies, in line with state’s industrial policy. about N16o,500,000 has been spent for running the TCPC
Micro Credit Scheme
ln order to reduce poverty and create employment, the State Government disburses small scale loans to person. Nine hundred and ninety-two (992) persons across the state were granted loans totaling up to N50,426,000 in the tast seven years.
Micro Credit (motor Bikes)
Two hundred and fifty (250) N21 ,1 40,357 .50 were given out to as micro-credit support.
Seminars, Council Meetings, Trade Fairs And Investment Promotions
ln the last seven years, the State Government has spent N15,370,500 to fund seminars, council meetings, trade fair and investment promotions.

I think we easily forget things in this country or people like u are talking just to show some stupidity. This issue of paying some token to unemployed graduates came up in the last house of representatives and the pdp law makers total rejected it without giving room to deliberate on it. If this proposal can be thrown out when oil price was favourable then what nonsense are the pdp senators trying to prove? It is clear that the pdp are always trying to instigate the people against the present government but only senseless Nigerians will buy their antics. Even if this present administration promise payment to the unemployed, I don't think this is the right time to come up with such program considering the present price of crude oil and its resultant effect on our economy coupled with unprecedented corruption of the last pdp government. Its too early for anyone to complain cos its not late yet, the program can commence anytime.pdp senators should go and bury their head in shame, it was a promise by APC so it should not be pdp that should drive it. If I may asked where are the weapons alledged to have been procured to fight BH, have they suddenly disappeared. For the last four year, the ministry of defence had the highest budgetary allocation in the name of combating BH, so what did your cluelesd govt. did with the money. Instead of simply comprehend what the outgoing CDS is trying to reveal ur depth lack of understanding has blinded your opinion. Before the election there was mere rumour of the military success toward BH, all in the guise of winning election but thanks to sensible Nigerians who reserve the urgent need to vote out the worst government ever in the history of Nigeria. Look at who is calling somebody Mumu, a prime minister is never the president, in the parliamentary system of government, we have both the president and the prime minister. The president is the head of state and commander in chief while the prime minister is the head of government. The president is elected directly by the people while the prime minister is a member of the parliament and is elected as prime minister within the parliament.
