Romance / 7 Ways To Know That You’re Dating A Grown A** Man by Smoke2015: 6:14pm On Oct 19, 2016
images-101. He proudly holds your hand in public. Men hate to show public affection because they may be seen as soft but a grown a** man will happily take your hand and make you feel adored, even when he's surrounded by his friends or family, he will make you feel like you are his top priority.

2. He doesn’t randomly disappear off the face of the earth. Like bears, some men will all of a sudden hibernate for long stretches of time, making you feel like a crazy person for sending multiple worried texts. And when you say you don’t like not hearing from them for three days, they tell you you’re too clingy. A grown a** man won’t just disappear over periods of time; if he’s busy, he’ll always find two seconds to let you know what’s up.

3. He takes you on thoughtful dates away from his home. The typical men we all know love the dark, vaguely musty vibe of his bedroom, and doesn’t particularly want to leave. It’s pretty easy to feel disposable while watching him play video games or watch football in boxers he hasn’t washed in days. A grown a** man will clear his schedule so he can take you out on the dates you deserve.

4. He never gets unnecessarily angry with you. Most men don't know how to tell when they are fighting with a man or woman. He will expose his teeth in a fight and get real ugly in an argument, even small ones, like how you’re not the biggest fan of his favourite football team. A grown a** man will be aware of how off-putting temper tantrums are, and will always choose to resolve conflict peacefully. With him, neither of you ever has to have your claws up.

5. He doesn’t make your best friends "worried" about you. When introducing your man to your close friends, watch your friend's reactions after 5 minutes and see if they genuinely like his character because a grown a** man will not only make your friends feel assured that you’re with someone great; he’ll be so fun that they’ll actually ask you to bring him around more. The more the merrier!

6. He doesn’t get annoyed seeing you around other men. Just like wild animals, men are naturally territorial creatures and suddenly get very attentive when there’s a possibility that another man finds you alluring. A grown a** man isn’t threatened by anyone else. More importantly, he’d never make you feel threatened or insist you can’t have friends who are also male. He absolutely trusts you, without a shadow of a doubt.

7. He sees you as a real person. Grown a** men can easily note the differences between you and them, and are wise enough to know that the best love comes from compromise.

Career / FCMB Sustains Youth Empowerment Drive, delights Youths With #fcmbflexxtern Intern by Smoke2015: 4:52pm On Oct 18, 2016
Are you young and in search of the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the business world? Then, the #FCMBFlexxtern contest is just for you!
An initiative of leading Nigerian bank First City Monument Bank (FCMB), the #FCMBFlexxtern is designed to give young Nigerians between the ages of 16-25 years an opportunity to get a 3-month internship with FCMB or one of the organizations partnering with the bank on this initiative.

The #FCMBFlexxtern is an online contest which is being held on the Flexxzone, the exclusive microsite built around FCMB’s Flexx proposition and which aims to provide relevant content to the Flexx target audience on a wide range of areas, including fashion, lifestyle, entrepreneurship and much more.

Participants are required to upload a 45-second video to their YouTube channel with the hashtag #FCMBFlexxtern, explaining why they should be the next Flexxtern, then visit website http://on.fcmb.com/Flexxtern-1 ‎to submit a link of their video. Public votes account for 40% of the rating, so all contestants are encouraged to invite their friends to vote for them – the more votes your entry receives, the higher your chances of winning! Entry submission to the #FCMBFlexxtern closes on Monday, October 24, 2016.

Speaking about the #FCMBFlexxtern contest, Divisional Head of Retail Banking, Mr. Olu Akanmu highlighted that the contest is designed to help young Nigerians acquire skills needed to kick-start careers in diverse sectors of the economy. According ‎to him, “Our youth proposition is centred around 3 key pillars – Fun, Future and Banking. The #FCMBFlexxtern contest aligns with the Future pillar and is an important way through which Flexxers can gain real-life work experience through a 3-month internship in some of Nigeria’s leading organizations. We hear so many comments about Nigerian graduates being “unemployable”. However, as a Bank, we believe that with the right kind of support, encouragement and exposure, our youth have all it takes to make a difference in business, enterprise and the corporate world. That’s why we take youth empowerment very seriously.”

Also commenting on the #FCMBFlexxtern initiative, the Group Head Corporate Affairs of FCMB Mr. Diran Olojo reiterated FCMB’s strategic focus on helping its customers achieve their dreams. According to him “What we are doing for youths is the same as what we do for all our customers – giving them the support they need to make their dreams a reality. The #FCMBFlexxtern contest is in line with our focus as a bank and will give these youths the much needed experience of life in the business world. The value of this initiative cannot be quantified in monetary terms. We are happy to champion this cause and provide Nigerian youths viable opportunities to succeed in business and enterprise”.

FCMB’s Flexx proposition is targeted at young people who are actively seeking platforms which allow them to express their uniqueness, while building skills for financial success. A youth-centric banking product, Flexx is designed to meet the overall financial needs of young people within the age range of 18 and 25 years, where and how they want those needs met. This is summarized in the description of Flexx as “An app. A card. An account”, which gives account holders the freedom to bank on the go using the Flexx Mobile App, as well as access relevant lifestyle and skills-building content.

In addition, with their Flexx card, they can conveniently withdraw cash, make payments online and on Point-of-Sale machines and access exclusive discounts and freebies from Flexx partners. This interesting departure from the common market offering gives the account holder full access to “flexx” (a popular expression which means to “show off”) and the opportunity to express a lifestyle that will be the envy of their peers who do not have Flexx accounts.

Politics / Aisha Buhari, The Kitchen And The Other Room By Joseph Edgar by Smoke2015: 10:30pm On Oct 16, 2016
I am an ardent supporter of the President although not of his Government and most of his policies so far but on this issue I beg to distance myself from him.

His response to the very seminal queries raised by his wife especially standing beside a strong female personality as the German Chancellor leaves much to be desired. I think he should have just kept quiet and allowed the matter to slide than to give such a response which in my mind has further boosted his wife's currency as a true Nigerian Amazon in the mould of Kudirat Abiola.

The issues she raised in her BBC interview have taken us down to the very core of the Nigerian experience. She touched on Nepotism, favoritism, incompetence and the seeming hijack of Government apparatus by those who do not share the vision that overwhelmingly threw the Government into power. This in my minds eye are grave issues only a very courageous warrior would dare to bring up talk less of a woman brought up in a society steeped in conservative ethos.

For one I admire the President who despite his religious outlook and conservative mien would allow a person in the mould of Aisha exist. This interview did not just happen on us, it is a continuation of a person who has been given the freedom to build a personality and have an opinion by her husband for this I say thank you. For she could have been muzzled into silence and with religion limit her potentials. But that said, her interview shows a major breakdown in communication between she and her husband and a cry for help to save her husband from enemies within.

Her statement that she would not support any reelection bid is telling. It comes from the mind of a very morally upright personality. Before I read the interview the headline to me suggested that like most political wives she was taking that position for very selfish reasons which usually involves the husband not spending more time with the family or for health reasons. It was the Presidents response that made me go back to it. This was an almost accurate reading of the political situation especially with the ongoing travails of Asiwaju Tinubu.

This interview lays credence to all the conspiracy theory that has been going on on social media. Daily we are forcefully fed with all sort of stories of the Kaduna Mafia and how they have come back very strongly.to seize the apparent controls of government. When she says that her husband is surrounded by those who did not fight for the electoral victory and who do not share the vision of change, one can only just try to tie this to the theories of hijack of power by the Presidents 'uncle' and other shadowy figures.

So the President's remarks only served to trivialise these very serious national issues that the beautiful Hajia brought up and shove them aside without really addressing the issues. This is not the correct position and with the kind of high respect I have of the person of the President and his position I will refrain from getting too heavy on him. But what I cannot leave out is the derogatory feel of his response even though it was meant to be a light banter I want to believe and this leads me to the question that where are the feminists. So her role in the bedroom and the other room is as sexist as can be and very well vested in Trumplike vestiges.

By that statement basically, Aisha despite her education, clarity on issues and strong support of the electoral movement and government should just 'shut up' and concentrate on other 'crucial things' that women are supposed to do. Things like cooking and keeping the house clean while leaving politics for the men. This is laughable my Oga, then you really do not know the woman you have married all of these years.

This is fire, this is strength that those words will not mute. I have watched her since she came into national limelight and her tussle with Fayose of Ekiti more than showed that this was an Amazon with the intellectual depth that would not be limited by religious shallow boundaries or an authoritarian matrimonial attempt at gagging. This is not just a political wife who would be satisfied with all those petty things First Ladies usually busy themselves with. This was an adept strategist with the Beaty and boldness to embark on any journey her well curated mind will lead her to. This to me is just the beginning of a journey that would outlive her husbands foray into politics.

I see an Aisha incursion on a very high moral platform with this kind of positions. Her fearlessness and courage plus the depth of her thinking would definitely not end after her husbands foray into power. She would most likely jump into the pool on a different progressive platform if she continues to be frustrated by the parochialism that surrounds her. I suspect this one will not be caged in the living room or any other room.

We await the movement of Aisha Buhari, meanwhile when will we get answers to her queries. Who are these people that the President does not know and how did they get to these positions. Can we find answers in the other room?

Business / Nigerian Banks And The Dubai Analyst: Stemming The External Aggresors by Smoke2015: 8:11pm On Oct 13, 2016
Nigerian Banks And The Dubai Analyst: Stemming The External Aggresors-A Feature Story By Public Opinion Analyst Ibeayoka Emefu

When the Honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, in Washington during a discussion on the importance of addressing infrastructure gaps in developing countries at the World Bank accused the western powers of being a stumbling block to Nigeria’s plan to improve power output through the use of coal, many took the statement on its face value. Adeosun had insisted that improving power supply was the corner-stone of the current administration’s goal towards economic development, yet finds it difficult to get support from the western community.

When a deeper dive into the deconstruction of the weight of the conscious economic underdevelopment of Africa perpetrated by some external forces, with Nigeria fully caught in the web is x-rayed, only more pain would be felt in the game plan of the heart-wrecking mastermind of some international conspirators. The weight of our challenges and the complexity of the consequential stress across sectors today, can hardly be resolved by mere UN talk-shops, World Bank meetings and other international economic summits, but concrete action, including fast release of Nigeria’s stolen funds given to our friends to hide in their banks.

When Walter Rodney in his book, How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, insisted that a combination of power politics and economic exploitation of Africa by Europeans led to the poor state of African political and economic development evident in the late 20th century, this did not go down well with their local agents, who pound their yams with sizeable sacks hanging underneath their robes.

The man, Rodney had determined that the only path to true human development and liberation for the majority of the people was through the transformation of their own lives in a struggle to replace and reshape the neo-colonialists government that dominated the society and prescribed their existence.

While we recall various predictions of how former President Goodluck Jonathan was said to be the last president of a united Nigeria, and how Nigeria would surely disintegrate in the year 2015 by some western ‘prophets’ with former American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. John Campbell seemingly the most interesting, time has come for those of us actually wearing the shoes to know where the pain points are and when we actually have a headache. Professor Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye actually took on the former US envoy, John Campbell and called him, ‘a prophet of doom’.

Typical of our media ideologues, sensational and alarmist headlines and the hurry to break the scoop, Bloomberg, recently went to the market with a story on the under-capitalisation of some banks in Nigeria, with two declared almost insolvent. Only a few wise Nigerians, received that story with caution and a large dose of scepticism. This financial online platform, had given credit to two staff of Dubai’s Arqaam Capital Limited, Jaap Meijer and Tarek Sleiman, who were said to have emailed the report. For some public opinion analysts and indigenous financial experts, this came like an external examiner who did not see a student’s course curriculum, did not get involved in the lectures, did not supervise the examination, but chose to dabble in to challenge the scoring of the exam paper by the qualified teacher, who taught the subject. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the regulator of the Nigerian financial services establishments got the shock of their life by the Dubai infiltration.

The apex bank quickly rose in defense of the country’s financial independence, speedily cross-checked records, files and the last submitted financial reports of these banks in its possession and had to embark on a series of meetings to dispel the threat and its overwhelming spill-over in the sector and among simple-minded Nigerians. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has firmly and unequivocally said that Nigerian banks have very strong capital buffers to weather the country’s economic crisis.

Director of Banking Supervision, CBN, Tokunbo Martins, said this at a press conference after a meeting with the heads of the country’s banks. She also assured that supply of foreign exchange for manufacturers would be improved.

She emphasised that Nigeria, which is Africa’s biggest economy, is in recession due to a slump in vital oil revenues which has put pressure on the public finances and the currency, driving up the prices of imported goods.

This timely clarification became necessary due to that report by a Dubai-based investment and brokerage firm, Arqaam Capital which indicated that seven Nigerian banks were undercapitalised to the tune of N1tn ($3.2bn) with two other banks approaching insolvency.

While an unconfirmed report still being investigated described the team from Aqaam Capital as financial undertakers who have their left eyes focused on our government’s body language towards the sale of some nation’s assets, it is also being speculated that they have pushed a button to grade the roads for their principals who have hidden interest incubated for some Nigerian collaborators. It is possible that their kite-fly against some Nigerian Banks, is a very suspicious move aimed at blocking some competition, should the federal government make-up its mind. The events of the last few days are actually bizarre.

The spokesman for First Bank, Mr. Babatunde Lasaki, said, “First Bank is not undercapitalised. We are still within the industry regulatory threshold. This is their opinion. Our position has been published in our half-year report; it is not the one from an investment bank or a speculative reporter. Our Q3 report will soon be published.

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has also confirmed that the Bank is fully capitalised and it’s current CAR (capital adequacy ratio), adequately meets the basic requirement of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Contrary to the claim of the Dubai firm, FCMB has actually expanded its operations this year by opening several new branches.

Also reacting, a spokesman for Diamond Bank, Ikechukwu Mike Omeife, said, “Our bank is strong. Our capital-adequacy ratio and non-performing loans are within the statutory requirements.”

Matthew Obiazikwor, who is the Head of Corporate Communication at Unity Bank insisted that Unity Bank was still meeting its obligations, saying, “Our financial position has been enhanced. We have just moved our head office to Lagos in order to be closer to the market and retail market. All these strategic investment decisions have shored up market confidence in the bank.”

Similarly, a top official of Skye Bank, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the bank was not close to being insolvent as alleged by Arqaam Capital. The source said the Central Bank of Nigeria had issued a statement, stating that the bank was not distressed.

To create a capital buffer, Sterling Bank is planning to issue a N27bn bond and “if the interest rate looks better, we will do it this year,” the Sterling Bank Chief Financial Officer, Abubakar Suleiman even told Bloomberg.

While the Nigerian banks cannot be insulated from the tension of full implementation of the TSA policy, the slump in vital oil revenues which has put pressure on the public finances and the currency, driving up the prices of imported goods, the forex headaches and the global economic slow-down, it must be agreed that the yardstick for the measurement of their liquidity, capital base and the depth of Non-Performing Loans, and the rating of capacity to weather the storm amidst the enlisted realities, is designed and decided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which has not suspended any Bank’s licence, and has assured us that all our banks are safe. Our external examiners, descendants of our colonial masters, must be watched really carefully. They cannot be crying more than the bereaved.

Politics / Asiwaju Tinubu : The Limits Of Political Influence By Joseph Edgar by Smoke2015: 9:07am On Oct 10, 2016
I had watched strenuously to see how far the Asiwaju would go with wielding so much power over his political structure spanning the whole of the South west and creeping towards the centre with no executive powers but mere influence. As a student of politics and a graduate of Political Science I have come to realize very succinctly that influence remains an aberration in the vicious game that is politics.

It is what people on the street calls 'breeze'. It cannot bite, does not have any legal backing, trading on morality and 'what is right' and as such enforcement of decisions especially disciplinary is at best very tricky. Today I am very sure that the Asiwaju would be rueing the day he decided to give himself the spurious title of 'Party Leader'.

For a strategist of his calibre, this was a fatal blow to his legacy. How on earth did he think he would continue to rule over his 'minions' especially with the integration of other soldiers in the enlarged party structure that was built with just influence. You see the game in which he holds whoever is the Lagos State Governor can never be used in the game at the centre. You cannot control the President of Nigeria and Commander of the Armed Forces with mere influence that comes with the empty post of Party Leader. This to me is his folly and I am sure in his moments of reflection he would just be shaking his head with regrets.

The Presidents statement during his inauguration perfectly captured this. He had said, I belong to no one. That to me perfectly encapsulates what I am talking about. Simply because you played a major role in bringing about the electoral victory is not enough currency to wield the kind of influence the Asiwaju was looking at wielding in national politics. This could be gleaned in all the subsequent defeats he has faced and culminating in this latest affront by the party chairman. Femi Fani Kayode who I usually do not agree with, put everything in true perspective in one of his numerous write ups when he illustrated how Tinubu has been embarrassed by the establishment ever since the inauguration. From the Kwara State Governorship poll, through the appointments of Fashola and the former Ekiti Governor, through even the appointment of Nike Animashaun and now the Ondo state debacle is beginning to show the Asiwaju as a giant with a clay feet.

How can you ever plan to hold power without legal backing. That is not legitimate power and as such cannot achieve sustainable leverage. I will say, he was lucky with Fashola and is also being lucky with Ambode but can you imagine a Fayose as Governor of Lagos State or even Wike and you will begin to see what I am talking about. Continuing to expect loyalty from gratitude is stupidity pardon my disrespect. But that is exactly what has been happening.

Chief Awolowo insisted on being the Premier and when he went for election in the centre and failed he came back to reclaim his executive powers and this led to the fracas that led to all that wahala in the old west simply because the combatants understood the powers that came with Executive positions.

If the Asiwaju was Party Chairman today and with his clout and charisma, even the President would think twice before he moved against him. Let us look at Chief Adisa Akinloye in the second republic, he was so powerful that his image loomed large even far and above that of the President. He never got to that point by wielding just influence.

So my advise to the Asiwaju is for him to either seek executive powers by throwing himself up for elections either at the party level or at the National platform or simply just retire from politics before he is rudely humiliated by people who despite their gratitude to him for 'making them what they are' would not allow that to becloude their judgement or decision taking in the pursuit of both their personal and national goals.

Really sad that such a brilliant tactician could not see this. Really painful.

Politics / The War On Corruption And Its Sacred Cows By Joseph Edgar by Smoke2015: 9:59am On Oct 07, 2016
If you have been conversant with the news in the past few days you would have learnt that finally what I have been suspecting as been officially confirmed. Some sacred cows have been named. The Book recently written by one Professor which I have never heard of before but apparently is distinguished enough to have his book launched with the high and mighty attending threw up this assertion.

According to the author, the fear of discontent in the Army and the restive new of the aniget delta and the general security conditions of the Country has led to us not even daring to asking some of our biggest 'thieves' questions. So where this leaves the Government especially in its most vaunted war against corruption remains to be seen.

For me the moral justification for the continued existence of this government has been rudely thrown out except that assertion is the good Professors personal opinion which I think it is. The government came on stage with a much vaunted cry to fight corruption in its every form and guise. It immediately started 'fighting' everybody. People like Dasuki and Saraki are living witnesses to this and a series of weak civil servants have lost their jobs, some their liberties in this war but as we have heard, the real big ones are not going to be touched and this throws up the government as a government of bullies. For how is it easy to fight and destroy the tiny ones and the real big ones you treat with kid gloves?

I remember Jerry Rawlings who took out four ex Heads of State in his own quest. He did not care for the security of the Government because he himself was clean and had the total support of the country and his campaign was not cosmetic or shallow. For him ethnic, political stature or any other factor was not an impediment. You stole you lost your life. Today Ghana is the better for it.

No one is pushing for a death sentence but for the fact that the campaign must be wholesome and comprehensive. If the country wants to scatter let it scatter otherwise we will continue to breed sacred cows who will continue raping the country while jumping into the gilded cage of untouchables.

If the Government has no political will as asserted in this Book to try the high and mighty then it has lost the moral ground to prosecute the war against corruption we should just face the 'change begins is me' campaign my people.

Corruption put us where we are today and I am not talking the little petty thieves that litter the corridors of our ministries or our firms. I am talking about the massive earthshaking corruption that involves our natural resources, our national assets being sold and divided amongst themselves at the highest levels and if this cannot be probed what are we doing stalking a permanent secretary who inflated a contract to supply biros to a secondary school in Mokwa.

I tire.

Family / He Lost His Job, His Wife Left Him By Joseph edgar by Smoke2015: 8:53am On Oct 07, 2016
He has come to my office two times. Lean and dark, trying very hard not to betray his deep sadness as he manages a smile each time he looks at me. His eyes remain sad, deep and penetrating, his gaunt look making his oversized jacket hang on his dour frame with pity at his condition. His sadness infects me as I remain almost helpless in solving his immediate problem which is to assist him get a job.

The saddest thing in all these, is his firm believe that I can assist him. For each time he sees me, his tired eyes light up with hope and this throws a huge burden on me. Yesterday, he came in as usual and I promptly forgot him in the reception. Deep into my own issues I continued fighting the fires that threaten to consume me. The Gringe is at it again, generally disturbing me so I forgot that my friend was patiently waiting in the reception. On my way out I saw him and asked him to come in. We had a brief chat and I saw that he did not really have enough skill set to work in any of my platforms not like we could even afford him since we too were struggling. But his enthusiasm and earlier mentioned 'hope' spurred me to try my best.

I asked him to remind me later at night to discuss with Segun in a bid to see if Segun could assist him and that opened the floodgate. He sent me a text begging for this opportunity and in the text he mentioned that his wife left him cos he lost his job.

That hit me, this was the second time I was hearing this and my mind went straight to my mother's advise when Nicholas the big headed argonaut sacked me for nothing. My mum advised me not to tell my wife since I could not guarantee her reaction. So I did not tell her o. I told her I was on leave and would be using the opportunity to start something for myself. When the 'leave' time passed, I started going out with my suit and lap top every morning like I was going to work but always ended at the Southern Sun Hotel to seat down and pretend I was working on a project and after 'work' I will go home and tell her how busy I was today and how work will soon kill me.

So this my brothers revelation and my mums advise got me thinking. What kind of a woman will leave her husband because he lost his job? Is it no longer 'for better for worse'. Is this truly a trend? Are women this fickle and heartless-staying when the going is good and jumping out at the slightest stress in the marriage.

When it happened to my former secondary school classmate I threw up the issue on our class forum and it was debated heatedly. For me it is good riddance and no single tear should be shed for such a Jezebel. She should be swept away and everything she touched should be burnt the way you burn everything touched by an Ebola victim. That woman would have eventually killed you even if you did not loose your job.

As I write, I am told to listen to both sides. For me there is no both sides according to my friend, Lanre Olusola the life coach any woman carrying out this evil act would only be looking for a justification for an act that already been perpetrated long before the job loss. To me the woman should be hung out to dry up and be treated like a confessed witch burnt at the stake with her breast thrown out there for the cats to devour.

My father lost his job and for eight years we had real life poverty as a direct cousin. My father was a wreck emotionally as he lost the will to live. A very proud and handsome man was turned into a wretch and in the wake of his job loss became depressed and almost suicidal. So apart from the obvious financial distortion we had the additional stress of carrying out a suicide watch with me sneaking into his room intermittently every other night to watch his famous pot belly to see if it was still moving. The Afang my mother fed him with made sure he woke up the next morning. Despite his mood he still loved his freshly made Afang soup and his chilled bottle of coca cola.

But the story is my mother's reaction to all this. She immediately became the General in the house. Moving the troops and not letting us relax or fall into despair. She used to vow that our standard of living will not drop and that she will die instead of letting us drop out of school. We started hawking bread and I was the main champion. You can imagine me just getting into my teenage years complete with comb hanging from my back pocket and flying my collars and winking at the luscious babes that littered shomolu then and now hawking bread. It was a terrible experience, but I could not dare refuse, my mother would skin me alive furthermore I understood why I had to hawk the bread. My people I hiked bread so much that when we eventually came out of it and I surfaced at the University of Ibadan anytime someone shouted 'Omo oni bread' I will subconsciously turn my head. It got to a point where my then darling, the lusciously gifted and eternally beautiful Ms. Toyin Olosunde once asked me why I always turned back when they called bread seller, I told her that it as out of pity for the bread seller that I hated hawking and when I got rich, I would liberate all bread sellers in the country. She hugged me and thanked God for this angel of a boyfriend. If only she knew.

My mother stood behind my dad. Shielding him from the shame of a job loss. Fighting everybody from the NEPA people who came to disconnect us, to errant landlords who did not understand why we could no longer pay the rents. She worked two jobs as a Nurse, Hawked bread, sold one of the cars and much more importantly became the father and mother and today she single handedly trained five graduates complete at the prestigious University of Ibadan. Today she is nestling in comfort and bliss in Uyo enjoying the products of her struggle.

So I will never understand this growing phenomenon of women jumping out and in my minds eye I see no justification. My mother used to laughingly joke with my father those days. She used to say, the former Governor of Akwa Ibom was her toaster and if she had known she would have agreed but see where her search for handsome husband has landed her. My father will burst into tears and we will all laugh at him and throw his Afang his way to appease him.

My people I plead with our women to be like my mother. For eight years she stood and made sure her husband did not really feel the humiliation of a job loss, the loneliness of your essence rudely dragged away from you by terrible economic conditions and the absolute worthlessness you begin to feel as a result of your inability to be a man.

So to my friend I say good riddance. Do not beg her, she does not deserve you and she will perish in the wilderness of perfidy with her carcass fed to the vultures and hyena's of opportunity who prey on such embodiments of greed and selfishness by sucking their disease filled bodies drying it up and leaving them a worthless carcass to be dragged around the street by mangy dogs and spat upon. You have been liberated. Congratulations.

My mama try sha. Kai, I never give am her chop money in three months o.

Celebrities / Akeem Balogun (olasco Films) Is Threatening My Life-actress Yewande Adekola by Smoke2015: 8:28am On Sep 30, 2016
Akeem Balogun (Olasco Films) Is Threatening My Life, Despite Owing Me Millions Talented Actress Yewande Adekoya Cries Out

One of my favorite Yoruba actresses(yes I love Yoruba movies the ones that make sense) Yewande Adekoya has cried out to Nigerians over the actions of movie producer Olatunji Balogun(Olasco films) who aside from bullying her seems to now be threatening her life. In an SOS call to Nigerians she explained how Olasco films is owing her and refuses till date to pay for her hard work. Read below:

Good day Nigerians. My name is Yewande Adekoya-Abiodun. I am a happily married movie producer, screenwriter and actress. I have been practising since 2002 and i am presently a bonafide member of Tampan. I want to beg Nigerians all over the world to please help me tell Akeem Olatunji Balogun (Olasco films) to leave my life alone. If anything bad happens to me, Nigerians, please hold Akeem Olatunji Balogun responsible. He has marketed my movies for about six years now and i have nothing to show for it financially. I do not even have a car of my own. He sold igbodudu 1&2, omo elemosho1&2, kudi klepto1&2, Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru1,2,3. This man is presently owing me the sum of 2million naira and he has refused to pay because he feels no one can challenge him. He has been owing me since 2014. When he owes you, you dare not ask for your money, if you do, he will start war just like the one he has just started. He is also not the type that signs a contract due to his dubious character. He prefers verbal agreements. He is very influencial in the yoruba movie market, so it is almost a waste of time to report him to anyone there. I know this because i had earlier reported him to several marketers who have good relationship with him, still no result. I called the president of the yoruba marketers association, he didn't pick my calls. I was eventually able to speak with his assistant who sympathised with me and then told me that little or nothing could be done about the matter. Olasco has humiliated and oppressed me for too long, and now, i feel it's time to speak up. The last business deal i had with him that really pissed me off was Kurukuru, a three part movie i wrote and produced while i was 8months pregnant in 2015. He released kurukuru online and on DVD in nov 2015, and then claimed we didn't make any profit from the 3 releases of the movie despite the huge success record the movie had. I decided to keep mute about everything since last year. I decided to keep mute about everything since last year, because i do not like to fight anyone or make noise over anything whatsoever. He sent me an embarrassing sum of N300, 000 which he believes should serve as my payment for Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru part1,2 and 3. I quietly moved on with my life and faced my work squarely, but Mr Akeem Balogun will not let me be. He keeps oppressing and terrorising anyone i choose to do business with. He even went as far as influencing movie marketers and some movie producers to stop casting me for movie roles. Why? What exactly did i do to you? What exactly do you want from me? Mr Akeem Olatunji Balogun please leave me alone, i refuse to be enslaved by you, like you enslave some others. You don't pay them and you also won't let them do business with other people. Maybe it's because i refused to date you even after all these years, that is why you are strongly determined to destroy me. I serve a living God Mr Akeem and the God i serve will never allow darkness overcome light. Olasco films has refused to pay me my royalty for the three movies: Emere, Irawo meji and Kurukuru part1, 2, 3 and i have not yet taken him to court for that, and he is here, strongly advocating against me doing business with other marketers and film distributors of my choice. I know you are tough but my God is tougher than you. Don't try HIM. I still have the bounced cheque of 1million naira that you gave me in 2011. May my God reward you accordingly. My beautiful fans and fellow Nigerians all over the world, pls help me tell this man to leave me alone oooooooooo if he does not want the wrath of God to descend on his entire household.

Business / CIBN Conference: Ajibola Highlights Importance Of Msmes In Economy Recovery by Smoke2015: 3:27pm On Sep 23, 2016
The President, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Prof. Segun Ajibola, says the financial services sector must redirect the economy to the path of recovery by channeling a major part of their loan portfolio to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises financing.

He spoke in Abuja at the 10th edition of the Annual Banking and Finance Conference, tagged, ‘Innovation in the financial services sector: Driving Nigeria’s new economy.’ Ajibola noted that the economic recession in the country could be traced to years of “skewed economic structure” as manifested in the monolithic nature of the source of Federal Government foreign exchange earnings.

He said, “Our economy has been overstretched with the level of foreign exchange reserves hovering around $25bn, perhaps the lowest in recent decades and barely able to support six months import bills. I believe this is the time the financial services sector needs to play some catalystic roles to redirect the economy path of recovery, growth and development.”

In a bit to recover the economy, Ajibola stressed the need to give MSMEs necessary support through a lasting initiative modelled after countries like Malaysia and South Korea. The CIBN President said, “Nigeria has experimented with multitude of policies and programmes aimed at supporting this lower end of the economy with minimal results.

“Perhaps, one way of entrenching a lasting initiative is to benchmark the models already successfully implemented in countries such as India, Malaysia, South Korea and Indonesia where the contribution of micro businesses to the GDP hovers around 75 percent. He added, “South Korea, for example, recovered from the Asian Financial Crisis of 1997 through the SMEs. In 1999, the SMEs accounted for 81.9 percent of industrial employments and 74.3 percent of total manufacturing in the country.

“We should also be prepared to accept the truism that the promotion of this segment of the economy can succeed if only the various institutions and agencies provide their complementary roles of providing the enabling environment, infrastructural base and funding support.” Earlier, the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, in his Keynote address, had emphasized the importance of an improved payment system to sustainable economic growth.

He noted that the successes recorded in the e-payment space in the country were made possible through programmes aimed at migrating transactions from cash to electronic payments. Emefiele said, “In order to sustain this progress, the CBN launched the second the second phase of the National Strategy in September 2013, aimed at ensuring safety, improving efficiency and integrating effectively into the global payments system through compliance with international standards.”

The CBN governor stated that Nigeria’s transaction-to-fraud rate had dropped significantly in 2015 to 0.01 percent, representing a 63 percent reduction.

Crime / Police Excavate Oil Discovered At Wells In Residential Areas In Ilasamaja Lagos by Smoke2015: 10:07am On Aug 25, 2016
The Operatives of Lagos state Police command from Ilasa Division yesterday on a joint operation with Staff of NNPC evacuated oil discovered in Wells from Ibadan and Abeokuta Street, Ilasamaja, Lagos.

The evacuation followed a series of investigation and inspection by the police, NNPC officials and the Sole administration of the Isolo local government Honourable Bimbo Osikoya, after the police received a tip off that some residents in the area who first discovered the oil had turned it into a money making venture.

In fact in one of the compounds where the oil was discovered, it is said that the woman actually connected a pumping machine after she discovered oil in the well that was originally dug for water. Instead of reporting the situation to the authorities, she chose instead to 'take advantage' of the situation and monetize it without considering the possible dangers or health hazards involved.

Investigations are still on as to what could have led to wells that originally produced water to start giving out refined oil especially when there is no known NNPC or oil depot near by.

Romance / 5 Reasons Why Your Ex Boyfriend Will Definitely Come Back by Smoke2015: 2:05pm On Aug 19, 2016
My sisters, men who have broken your heart will always come back. ALWAYS. It may take weeks. It may take months. It may take years. It may take decades. But these jokers always tend to pop up at some point. Whether it’s a random “I miss you” text, or a comment on a Facebook pic that you posted 4 years ago, they always resurface. And usually, it’s when you least expect it.

Now, before you respond to his “How R U” text, consider how he treated you while you were going through the breakup. I believe you definitely learn more about a person AFTER you breakup than you did while you were together. But why do most guys come back?

Here Are My Top 5 Reasons Your Ex Will Come Running Back:

1) He wants to ensure that you haven’t moved on before he does. He can’t stand the thought of you moving on without him. This type of ex really doesn’t want to be with you. He simply wants to do just enough to ensure a new man doesn’t come along and pick up the pieces that he shattered. This way, he can always use you as a back up plan if he needs to.

2) He KNOWS that you will take him back. No matter how bad he messed up, he knows that you will give him another chance because you have done it so many times before. Sis, every time you take a guy back after he has dogged you, you will lose more and more value in his eyes. A woman who truly respects herself is not going to stay in, or give 5th and 6th chances, to a man that has treated her terribly.

3) His “rebound” relationship failed, so now he’s back to make you his “rebound’s rebound”. I will be doing a post on rebounds (and how to avoid becoming one), soon.

4) He knows that he was wrong and the guilt is eating him alive. In an attempt to make himself feel better, he wants you to validate that he is not as horrible as he feels. When this type of ex reappears and you entertain it, it clears his conscience and makes him feel that his behavior towards you was acceptable. No one wants to “feel like a mumu”, even if they behave like one. He’ll do his best to get back into your good graces. And then shortly after, he’ll disappear again.

5) He genuinely is sorry and realizes what he had. He has taken the time to mature and reflect and he knows that he lost a good thing. But you must remember, the relationship ended for a reason. As tempting as it may be, it’s probably best to leave this door closed. His change will be evident by him making better decisions in the future. And unfortunately, your situation may be what he needed to grow and make better decisions with the next woman- not you.

I hope you have learnt a thing or two. Do leave your comments dearies.

Celebrities / OJB Jezreel, Tears For Fears: A Tribute By Joseph Edgar by Smoke2015: 2:45pm On Jun 15, 2016
Tribute written by Joseph Edgar. Read below:

My very good friend Charles Aigbe of UBA called me out of the blue and in a shaky voice he asks me if I had heard of the demise of this wonderful being. I screamed and wet my pants. I felt the hot pee dribble down my trousers as I stood shell shocked and bewildered from this mad news. OJB the dimuntive producer, my friend and brother had finally given up. He had decided to leave us and take his genius to another realm.

I stood perplexed and with pee still dribbling down my right leg I began to sob and hum a soft song of sorrow. I saw my brother flash past me in that minute. I saw his laughter as he listened to my tired jokes, I saw him injecting himself with the daily dose that was meant to keep him alive, I saw him play with his dreadlocks, I saw him attempt a feeble punch at me, threatening to beat me up like he usually did. I saw him stare at the backside of a very beautiful lady walk past even as I laughed at him that his prime had past especially with all the injections and drugs he had to take and I saw him boast that he was still a man in every way even as he attempted to strip to show me his manhood. I was in a confused state of laughter and tears.

My tears turned to fear, fear for his wives and children, fear for his legacy and fear for this society that ate up its very best and chewed them out with the spittle of neglect and venomous hatred. OJB has gone and with him his gentle smile, his musical genius and a chapter in the life of a nation who once stood in awe at his musical prowess. I am still in a state of shock because he touched me. We walked through almost all the halls of useless capitalism seeking for funds for the over 30million Nigerians suffering from this debilitating illness. As we walked, the hot scorching sun biting us, OJB stopping momentarily to take his drugs and rest his tired and weary feet not wanting others to suffer like he was. Only UBA and AIICO especially AIICO gave us reprieve, the rest kicked us out of their offices. One even went ahead to host the 10th year anniversary of a musician with millions when all we just wanted was a paltry N500,000 to send to an ailing patient under OJBs care.

My brother is gone. We shared the same birthdate and also shared a penchant for curvy women settling with the same number of 'wives' and loving every moment we shared. Ojb's death has paralyzed me and turned me into a zombie. I know he is within Gods bosom for such people where never meant to last. They were built to live very short but impactful lives. Adieu my brother and don't ever forget our song. The one we were trying to do in your studio upstairs that Saturday morning, you in your underwear, dreadlocks hanging loosely over your handsome face and me naked with only my boxer shots screaming and squealing all in the name of singing and disturbing your neighborhood. Our song will go with you as you glide towards our Lord in a blaze. Sleep well my brother and God bless. Lucky you.

Celebrities / US Man Predicted Prince And Mohammed Ali's Death, Orlando Mass Shooting, Others by Smoke2015: 10:35am On Jun 13, 2016
Modern Day Nostradamos? US Man Predicted Prince And Mohammed Ali's Death, Orlando Mass Shooting, Others.

On December 27, 2015 around 1am, a Facebook user who goes by the name Pablo Reyez made some predictions which at that time seemed too ridiculous to be true. He wrote:

"Call me crazy but in 2016 Hillary Clinton will be the first female president, the world will go crazy over the death of a gorilla, Prince will die, Muhammad Ali will die, Kimbo Slice will die, Donald Trump will die. The USA will experience the worst mass shooting .. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but you'll remember my name."

Shockingly, five of his predictions(Prince-died April21, Gorilla Harambe shot 29th May, Mohammed Ali'died June 3rd, Kimbo Slice-died June 6th as well as the Orlando Mass shooting) have come to pass accurately leaving many wondering if Reyez is a psychic of some sort.

The world is no doubt 'remembering his name' as the eldritch post has been shared over 32,000 times, earning over 19,000 comments.

Donald Trump perhaps should be more worried for his life than loosing the Presidential race? Do leave your comments.

Culture / Ife Queen Wuraola With Her Lebanese Husband by Smoke2015: 6:28pm On Mar 15, 2016
R-e-v-e-a-l-e-d! See Photos Of New Ife Queen Wuraola With Her Lebanese Husband Whom She Is Allegedly Still Married To Legally[/b]

About a week ago, before the Ooni of Ife married his new bride Wuraola Zynab Otiti, one unknown Zainab wrote an open letter alleging that she was still married to her ex husband amongst other things , but many assumed it was just the rantings of a jealous frenemy.

If you missed that letter by Zainab Lawani frim Abuja, click here to read https://www.nairaland.com/2979622/open-letter-wuraola-otiti-ooni

But now, it appears there may be some truth in Zainab's open letter.

After the letter spread, some MDB readers approached yours truly validating the story, but word of mouth didn't seem enough, so I omitted not to publish since there was no real evidence yet. But now photos of her with her husband Elie has emerged online.

The Abuja sources close to the situation who pleaded anonymity told MDB that Elie is her husband whom she has kids with. They allege that Wura milked Elie-an expatriate with Sageto, an Abuja based company- dry financially, so much so that he is still trying to recover from the loss. Elie allegedly kept giving her company money, and she made sure to corner major contracts from Sageto for her brothers and relatives.

As per her marriage to the Ooni, I'm told she was one of his girlfriends and he knew her for a little over two weeks before he decided to marry her. It is said that the names of the Ooni's girl friends were dropped and the oracle choose Wura even though he had known her for just a short period of time.
