Politics / Dejavu: This Is How APC Reacted To AIG Joseph Mbu's Order To Police In 2015 by snailspeed: 4:51pm On Feb 19, 2019
Just before 2015 elections, when AIG Mbu ordered the police to shoot any election thug in self defence, if they are attacked, the APC then reacted by saying GEJ wanted to kill Nigerians. Fast forward to 2019 and this time, it is even Buhari that is ordering the armed forces to shoot anyone who wants to snatch a ballot box. This time, he doesnt even add the clause, "if they shoot at you".

Do APC always do the same things they accuse PDP of?

Absolutely, no pastor instructed me to give first fruit, I learnt it from revelation of the scriptures and applied it and it has been a lifting force in my life. Same as tithing.

It's personal enlightenment.

Why lie that first fruit and tithe has been doing something for you.

You know this is a big lie. There is nothing you have gotten that other ordinary people out there dont get. You are not even that rich but you keep claiming tithing has been working for you. Why are you deceiving yourself?

Religion / This Is What God Says About Pastors, Prophets And They False Prophecies by snailspeed: 6:21pm On Jan 03, 2019
Jeremiah 23 New Living Translation (NLT)

13 “I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil,
for they prophesied in the name of Baal
and led my people of Israel into sin.
14 But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse!
They commit adultery and love dishonesty.
They encourage those who are doing evil
so that no one turns away from their sins.
These prophets are as wicked
as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were.”

15 Therefore, this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says concerning the prophets:

“I will feed them with bitterness
and give them poison to drink.
For it is because of Jerusalem’s prophets
that wickedness has filled this land.”

16 This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says to his people:

“Do not listen to these prophets when they prophesy to you,
filling you with futile hopes.
They are making up everything they say.
They do not speak for the Lord!
17 They keep saying to those who despise my word,
‘Don’t worry! The Lord says you will have peace!’
And to those who stubbornly follow their own desires,
they say, ‘No harm will come your way!’

18 “Have any of these prophets been in the Lord’s presence
to hear what he is really saying?
Has even one of them cared enough to listen?
19 Look! The Lord’s anger bursts out like a storm,
a whirlwind that swirls down on the heads of the wicked.
20 The anger of the Lord will not diminish
until it has finished all he has planned.
In the days to come
you will understand all this very clearly.

21 “I have not sent these prophets,
yet they run around claiming to speak for me.
I have given them no message,
yet they go on prophesying.
22 If they had stood before me and listened to me,
they would have spoken my words,
and they would have turned my people
from their evil ways and deeds.
23 Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the Lord.
“No, I am far away at the same time.
24 Can anyone hide from me in a secret place?
Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?”
says the Lord.

25 “I have heard these prophets say, ‘Listen to the dream I had from God last night.’ And then they proceed to tell lies in my name. 26 How long will this go on? If they are prophets, they are prophets of deceit, inventing everything they say. 27 By telling these false dreams, they are trying to get my people to forget me, just as their ancestors did by worshiping the idols of Baal.

28 “Let these false prophets tell their dreams,
but let my true messengers faithfully proclaim my every word.
There is a difference between straw and grain!
29 Does not my word burn like fire?”
says the Lord.
“Is it not like a mighty hammer
that smashes a rock to pieces?

30 “Therefore,” says the Lord, “I am against these prophets who steal messages from each other and claim they are from me. 31 I am against these smooth-tongued prophets who say, ‘This prophecy is from the Lord!’ 32 I am against these false prophets. Their imaginary dreams are flagrant lies that lead my people into sin. I did not send or appoint them, and they have no message at all for my people. I, the Lord, have spoken!

False Prophecies and False Prophets
33 “Suppose one of the people or one of the prophets or priests asks you, ‘What prophecy has the Lord burdened you with now?’ You must reply, ‘You are the burden![c] The Lord says he will abandon you!’

34 “If any prophet, priest, or anyone else says, ‘I have a prophecy from the Lord,’ I will punish that person along with his entire family. 35 You should keep asking each other, ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’ 36 But stop using this phrase, ‘prophecy from the Lord.’ For people are using it to give authority to their own ideas, turning upside down the words of our God, the living God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

37 “This is what you should say to the prophets: ‘What is the Lord’s answer?’ or ‘What is the Lord saying?’ 38 But suppose they respond, ‘This is a prophecy from the Lord!’ Then you should say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Because you have used this phrase, “prophecy from the Lord,” even though I warned you not to use it, 39 I will forget you completely.[d] I will expel you from my presence, along with this city that I gave to you and your ancestors. 40 And I will make you an object of ridicule, and your name will be infamous throughout the ages.’”

Politics / Petroleum Trust Fraud - How Buhari And Abacha Ran PTF by snailspeed: 4:56pm On Oct 10, 2018
Petroleum Trust Fraud
By Ray Ekpu
05 June 2018 | THE GUARDIAN

It is not known to this column how close Brigadier Sani Abacha was to Major General Muhammadu Buhari by December 1983. It was Abacha who announced at the end of a few minutes of martial music on new year’s eve that the government of President Shehu Shagari had been thrown into the dust bin of history. Buhari became the fulcrum of that history as Nigeria’s head of state. On August 27, 1985, there was another game, the Revolving Doors’ game. Buhari was out, thrown out, while Ibrahim Babangida, was in, thrown into the pinnacle of political power in Nigeria. Babangida clamped Buhari into the dungeon for some months where he cooled his feet, while his colleagues were bestriding the Nigerian political and military firmament like they owned the world. Babangida left or was forced to leave the throne after eight years of dangerous foot work. He called Chief Ernest Shonekan, a successful private sector entrepreneur, to come and take the baton of leadership.

He took it and as he was trying to hold it in his hand firmly, Abacha who had been eyeing the coveted prize greedily grabbed it in 1994. He immediately increased the price of petroleum products. The public rolled out a series of protests. As an appeasement measure, he set up the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) as an intervention development agency to bring succor to the people especially in the rural areas. He made Buhari the executive chairman of the Fund which he ran for five years (1994-1999).

Why did Abacha appoint Buhari the Executive Chairman of PTF? Was it as an atonement for the sin of standing by while he was overthrown by the Babangida Boys? Or was he just sympathetic seeing that the man had been left in the cold by Babangida since his ouster on August 27, 1985? Or was Abacha simply looking for a fabled disciplinarian who didn’t love money too much or the dirty part of it? Buhari needed that rehabilitation, physical, financial and reputational. He was eager to come in from the biting cold and be seen as a man who, despite the overthrow and detention, had kept his dignity and integrity such that Abacha who was Babangida’s man, could trust him with the big-wallet job.

The Petroleum Trust Fund was to intervene in such areas as roads and waterways, supply of educational materials, rehabilitation of educational infrastructure, food supply, health, water supply, etc. Buhari set up a capricious management structure and appointed Afri-Project Consortium (APC) led by a 42 year old man, Salihijo Ahmad. This Consortium was the sole manager of the PTF projects. Ahmad had admitted to Newswatch in an interview published by the magazine in its April 19, 1999 issue that it was APC that wrote the proposal which defined the mandate of the PTF. It suggested the criteria, procedure for selection and appointment of contractors, consultants and suppliers. It also worked out the monitoring mechanism adopted by the PTF. The APC had some 620 consulting firms reporting to it. It was the sole management consultants to the PTF. Most Nigerians had no idea how the PTF was run. It was when President Olusegun Obasanjo took over in 1999 and set up an interim management committee (IMC) headed by Dr Haroun Adamu to wind down the PTF that the worms crawled out of the can. That Interim Management Committee appointed three technical consultants to investigate various aspects of the PTF management. Their findings conducted independently were damning. When I read President Buhari’s remarks a few weeks ago in which he crowed about the achievements of the PTF under his leadership, I decided to do a facts-check since I knew that Newswatch had done a cover story titled “How Buhari ran PTF” which was published in its March 13, 2000 issue. This story was the product of a thorough investigation into the mammoth fraud as discovered by the technical consultants hired by the IMC. Details of the IMC report are distilled for you here. The findings: N144.51 billion had been given to PTF by the Federal Government during its lifetime; A residential estate was to be built at Wuse, Abuja, for N703 million but the technical consultants hired by IMC put the realistic valuation at about N328 million; Between July 1994 and July 1999, about N25 billion was either stolen or improperly expended; Extension of PTF headquarters was to gulp N650 million; Expired HIV/Aids drugs and kits worth N28 billion was supplied to several hospitals nationwide. This was confirmed by the Nigerian Guild of Medical Directors whose Secretary, Mr. Rowland Ogbonna, asked the Federal Government to withdraw the drugs immediately from all hospitals in the country. Many projects were abandoned while the completion rate of other projects was put at 30%; the sum of N500 million that the PTF deposited in a bank disappeared as soon as the IMC was announced. The bank agreed to pay the money after President Obasanjo read the Riot Act to the bank officials. On taking over, IMC discovered that there were no contract documents, drawings or specifications relating to projects. The APC could and did award contracts and vary the pricing without any reference to the PTF. Mr. Ahmad had asked the IMC officials to come and collect some documents in connection with all the transactions. On the day of the appointment he collapsed and died. The other members of the APC team claimed that they were not in a position to supply the documents.

There were more sordid revelations. The Afenifere did an analysis of the siting of the projects. The consumption of petroleum products by the South was 70% while that of the North was 30%. However, the distribution of the PTF projects was a reversal of the consumption pattern: 70% to the North and 30% to the South. All Southern States had 4,440.43 kilometres of roads rehabilitated (24%) while states in the Northern had 13,870.47 kilometres rehabilitated (76%). Teaching Hospitals’ rehabilitation:
South 38%,
North 62%;
Specialist Hospitals: South 29%,
North 71%;
Food supply:
South 17%,
North 83%;
National Health and Educational Rehabilitation Programme (NHERP): South 0%
North 100%;
Vocational Programme:
South 3%,
North 97%;
Primary School rehabilitation:
South 12%,
North 88%.

Haroun Adamu acknowledged the gross imbalances in the sharing of the projects but regretted that his committee could not do much to remedy the situation since by the IMC mandate they could not embark on new projects.

From the findings there was massive fraud in PTF, fraudulently masquerading as achievements. The institution was a Government intervention agency but run without the regulatory checks and balances that undergird the implementation of Government projects. The Afri-Projects Consortium (APC) was just on its own, a loose canon with no authority to check it. Muhammadu Buhari was the Executive Chairman but he was absent-minded and had capriciously surrendered the operational powers of the PTF to APC without diligent supervision. The boys looted the place dry and there was no evidence that Buhari had an inkling of the huge corruption under his feet. Sometime before the IMC takeover, a newsmagazine, TheWeek, had interviewed him about the swirling corruption allegations. He said allegations of corruption against him were false. “My integrity is intact.” His friends said so too and even insinuated that Dr. Adamu was going after Buhari because the former dictator had detained him in 1994. Adamu told Newswatch: “I am not here to probe Buhari, No, that is not our mandate. Whatever happened when he was Head of State is long forgotten. He is my friend.”

Buhari’s personal integrity was not soiled by the Petroleum Trust Fraud but he displayed supreme incompetence as a Manager. As an Executive Chairman the buck stopped at his desk and no matter how you want to slice it he takes vicarious responsibility for the humongous fraud that took place in that institution. Secondly, the grossly lopsided distribution of the PTF projects between North and South is an awful testimonial for a man of his national standing to whom the nation through the coup makers had given the highest position in the land. His lopsided appointments today constitute a déjà vu.

When I read what he said about Abacha I was sorry for him. He said to a delegation, Buhari Support Group led by Comptroller General of Customs, Hameed Ali. “I don’t care about the opinion you have on Abacha but I agreed to work with him and we constructed roads from Abuja to Port Harcourt, Benin, Onitsha and so on. We also touched education and health. One of the former Heads of State was bragging that he spent $16 billion on power in Nigeria. Where is the power?” The emerging confrontation between the two former dictators, former friends and former allies and now fierce foes, Obasanjo and Buhari, will receive the attention of this column in due course. For now, I think President Buhari’s open veneration of the kleptocratic and autocratic Abacha is a cause for nausea. At the 10th anniversary of Abacha’s death Buhari had given the fantastically corrupt Abacha a clean bill of integrity. Even at that time, Nigeria was running all over the world trying to retrieve the billions Abacha had scattered in several banks in several countries and several continents. The horrifying stories of the elimination of prominent politicians and businessmen by Abacha constitute a notorious portion of our national narrative. No matter how hard Buhari tries, no matter what he thinks of the despicable, despotic Abacha, no matter why he thinks the man was a saint he will never succeed in winning Nigerians to his side. He will only wake up with fleas since he chooses to be in bed with dogs.

What exactly is this obsession Nigerians just have with irrationally attacking and attacking everyone they meet online?

@snailspeed,
Kindly point out where I directly or indirectly inferred that the policeman was right to slap a woman?... So because I said the lady broke a traffic law and was unruly, how does that automatically equate to "the woman deserves to be beaten"? How exactly do supposedly educated people come up with these ridiculous interpretations and then use their poor comprehension of simple English as a basis to harrass others online?

What exactly is not consistent in my argument? In the first instance, I wasn't even arguing with anyone; I just made a statement that despite the demonising of the policeman, it is important to also point out that the woman was just another unruly/indisciplined Nigerian constituting a nuisance on the road. I also added that eye witness accounts actually claimed she wasn't even slapped as her story claimed. So oga, what exactly is the inconsistency about that?

If you dont have anything to say, why dont you just be silent and walk away. Is that too difficult?

What exactly are you blabbing about? Was this not your response to the original post?

I heard she was breaking traffic laws and chose to ignore the police officer's instructions before the altercation.

Why would you respond with that if your goal wasnt to change the narrative and make the lady look like she deserved what she got? You didnt even put in any word to denounce such an act, if indeed, the policeman did assault her. You want to try and wriggle yourself out of this, but you are only making a fool of yourself with your weak attempt.

The only way to respond to such a post is to either condemn the action of the policeman if you believe it happened or defend the policeman if you believe it didnt happen. Not try and talk about the supposed wrong of the lady. The point of the post was clear, which was, even if the girl broke any rule, that wasnt the way a policeman should respond in a civilised society. The only defence you can have for such a policeman is that the allegation was false, not that the girl broke a rule. Get some sense!

I understand the basic rules of discipline on the side of law enforcers and citizens alike. The whole story is focused on the policeman harassing a lady; I just thought it was necessary to also chip in the other side of the story about the lady alleged being just another unruly Nigerian.

By the way I just saw a video on insragram of the same incident. The policeman involved has been forced to speak up; several other random witnesses gave also spoken up and they all claimed nobody, not even the policeman hit her. The polic3man actually also videod the event and had his phone seized by the lady.. What effrontery!

Whilst we are quick to always condemn the police for their unruliness, we shouldnt also forget how unruly and indisciplined most Nigerians can be.

You should be consistent in your argument. If your argument is that the policeman is innocent, stick to that. But dont say the lady deserves to be brutalised because she broke traffic rules. If the policeman brutalised her as alledged, that is wrong.

If on the other hand, the girl is accusing the policeman falsely, that is also wrong and she should be penalised for that. But be consistent in your argument.

This is a very misleading thread. From Ore to Benin is the only smooth part of that road and it was fixed by GEJ. The only work going on there now is somewhere around Ijebu Ode area and It isnt a very long stretch. The Benin to Ore part has been like that since 2013/2014. A little Google would tell you that. Dont be mischievious.

AutoJoshNIG:
The Benin-Ore expressway is one of Nigeria’s most traveled roads. Daily, hundreds of thousands of Nigerians ply this economically crucial highway.

This highway primarily connects states of the South-West to states in the South-South, South-East and the Middle belt.

For decades, this stretch of road that is part of the Lagos-Benin Expressway was notorious for its atrocious condition and the neglect by successive Governments.

In 2007, on account of the disgraceful condition of this Federal road, a one-time Minister of Transportation famously wept during a visit to a failed section of the road. The Minister also apologized to Nigerians for what she then described as the “inhuman and unacceptable” state of the road.

Thankfully, intervention eventually surfaced.

In 2014, the reconstruction of the Benin-Ore section of the Lagos-Benin Expressway was completed.

Maina isn't the first person that was fired for corruption that Buhari has brought back to government. Here are a few I can remember

1. AbdulRahman Danbazzau was fired as chief of army staff for corrupt practices in purchasing of arms and gas been appointed minister of interior by buhari

2. Mohammed Barkindo was removed as NNPC MD by the late yaradua for stealing huge kickbacks from oil and and been appointed as Nigeria's Secretary General to opec by Buhari

3. Acp Zakari Bui, a man accused and dismissed for aiding boko haram kingpin kabiru Sokoto to escape from detention was reinstated and promoted by buhari.

4. Abdul Rasheed Maina, a man that ran away since 2014 and has been declared wanted by efcc for embezzlement of N2bn pension funds have been reinstated as deputy director ministry of interior.

5. Ahmed Gambo Saleh, Registrar of the Supreme Court, He stole N2.2bn belonging to the Supreme court and was caught red handed and fire, today Ahmed Gambo Saleh has now been appointed the secretary of the committee monitoring corruption trials.

6. What about timipre Sylva? Over 46 houses seized by fg has been returned to him. This is a man with no known business o.

I can go on and on listing names.

Buhari recall on Maina is a sign that any Govt no matter how reckless or irresponsible can be called to order by Citizen Power. I have no doubt in my mind though that the man’s brazen recall was orchestrated at the highest levels of governance in our country. I have no confidence also in the fight against Corruption based on many instances of “see no evil; hear no evil” displayed so far by Buhari. If the highest office in the land could have been infiltrated by rats, it’s possible that shady rats in human form also thrive there.
Maina seems to my mind to be another victim of the power-play in this same highest office with Buhari as the umpire who has lost his whistle.

The entertainment from what should be a dignified office continues to amuse us as the umpire

This is so wrong! Were was your anger at the genocide in Kaduna? Why is your anger only invoked when someone calls for people to defend themselves? This is just strange by some of you. You are encouraging the killers and trying to dampen the resolve of the victim? Why?

Secondly, what is happening in Nigeria is not persecution? Christians are not a minority group. This is an invasion. Its a war situation. Politics / "Whoever We Arrested For Corruption Must Be Guilty" - EFCC Boss by snailspeed: 10:06pm On Oct 25, 2016
The acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has reaffirmed that the ongoing anti-corruption fight is not selective.

Magu said before anyone is arrested, the Commission would have, after a thorough investigation, established that the individual is guilty.

He stated this in Kaduna on Monday, October 24 while speaking on the sideline of the National Open Government Partnership retreat.

"We don’t just arrest somebody who has no case to answer," Magu said while urging Nigerians to see the war against corruption as a collective fight.

He added: "I’m here today because this event hás to do with transparency and accountability in governance and you should know that anything that has to do with fighting corruption is an area of interest to me.

"It’s not true that we are selective in the fight against corruption. Whoever we arrested for corruption must be guilty of it. We are also making progress in this fight even though it’s not our fight alone, it’s a fight for all of us as people of this country."

In the same vein, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will soon sign an executive order on transparency and efficiency in all government ministries, agencies in the country.
He said the APC-led government will stop at nothing in ensuring transparency and accountability in all public institutions across the board.

the evidence is there with the DSS and it shall be presented against them in court. Keeping the money is not the crime, but keeping what's more than your salary is.

Are you not a stark uilliterate? How can keeping money that is more than ones salary be a crime? Zombies and their illiteracy are like 5 and 6. grin

Does it really matter?
Whatever method is used to track down these crooks is allowed. Nigerian criminals are too advanced, using conventional approach would make majority of them escape punishment.

The next time they catch any of your person for even the smallest crime, may he be lynched to death!

Can you say amen to that then, since using conventional approach would make majority of them escape punishment?

Does that stop him from being a member of the NBA and No. 1 lawyer in the country?

Stop pretending to be silly.

You quoted a Buhari appointee to make a case in an issue that concerns Buhari and now you are talking about NBA membership?

You go school so? grin

Fvuck you corrupt punk.

Fools.

Do you think we have no idea how The system runs.

You guys who constantly rape lady justice with her blindfold are the first to ask of her when it's time for justice

A long time ago I realised we don't need a democracy. We aren't ready for that yet. What we need is a benevolent dictator with absolute powers.

One man on a mission to drag us to where we ought to be not where we think we should be.

Democracy in Africa ( dark continent) Nigeria specifically is a waste of time.

Case in point the presidency isn't exactly clean hence he cannot stop absurd payments to the NASS for they would impeach him.

Here's the I treating thing would they impeach buhari for pastor to take over. I think not.

Nigeria not a giant just a midget with an adults voice.

Anyone who advocates for dictatorship is an extremist like Buhari with an evil Islamic agenda. We know that's wehat Buhari wants. The corruption excuse is lame. Find another excuse. grin

Meanwhile...

Mr. Abubakar Malami who is the minister of justice and the attorney-general of the federation has shown his support for the raid and arrest of some judges by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) insisting that “no one is or should be above the law.”

The NBA should just take several seats.

Don't you know he is an appointee of Buhari? cheesy

Buhari is as corrupt as they come. He only wants to silence those who can stop him from being a full blown tyrant.

Which president has ever used 270 million to cut grass before?

Politics / The Cases That Landed The "Corrupt" Judges In Trouble by snailspeed: 9:43pm On Oct 10, 2016
Justice Liman gave judgment against Modu Sheriff and that hurt the APC.
Justice Liman also restrained INEC from announcing any results or figures howsoever generated or compiled purporting to be result of the re-run election for any or all of Khana, Bonny, Gokana, Andoni, Eleme and Tai Local Government Areas of Rivers State or any part of the re-run election scheduled for March 19, 2016 which election was subsequently suspended or postponed. Justice Liman narrowly missed been "stinged" by the DSS.

Justice Pingina insisted on due process in the Rivers State Governorship election tribunal sittings. He was removed midway during the sitting of the tribunal when APC saw that PDP was having the upper hand. The rest is history. Justice Pingina has just been "stinged" by DSS.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola, a brilliant judge, eldest grandson of a great former CJN of Nigeria, Adetokunbo Ademola was a judge who knew his onions. He came from a tradition. He could not be pushed around by powers that be. He ordered thrice that Dasuki be released. This did not go down well with Buhari and his government. They disobeyed his orders and concocted a new offence to rearrest Dasuki. Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja also in May 26, 2016 dismissed Buhari's preliminary objection in a suit filed by an Abuja-based legal practitioner Mr. Nnamdi Nwokocha-Ahaaiwe concerning Buhari certificate (WAEC). Justice Ademola has just been "stinged" by DSS

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba, a brilliant judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja was the judge who warned DSS to stop disobeying orders of court and told them not to come to his court again if they would not obey court orders. DSS was angry with this. They wanted to "sting" him but got a wrong name. However, they succeeded in breaking into his house and beating up his brother only for them to look into the paper they had on them to discover that it was not his name that was on the paper. That sure hurt them.

JSCs Ngwuta and Okoro sat on appeals that gave decisions against APC interest. They have just been "stinged" by DSS.

Now you see the truth. We are back in 1984!
