phlamy: No vex abeg, please forgive whatever PMB has done to you.
we need to keep this thread sane and lets see what can come out of it
Bitterness is not good for the heart
Abeg, no vex I no vex bro. I just responded to Omenka's claim that the last government did not save and Buhari would have saved the planet. You know he and his kind have a fixed answer to everything: the last government! This thread can be informative at best. It isn't going to come up with a solution to the oil crisis. The prices will keep going down and the consequences will be far worse than many might imagine. There will be another global recession. Many countries in Europe and the mideast will go burst like Greece. The only thing that can give us a little succour if we act now is true federalism. The Nigerian structure as it is is flawed and can never produce a 21st century robust country |

Can't you manage to at least address a single point raised by discussants?? Are you that sluggish upstairs?? How has both comments you've made enriched the discussion here??
Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised after all. It is just typical of you lot. You can't but throw inane tantrums when confronted with superior arguments. Do as you please, na your palaver.
Good night. The day you can make a superior argument, I will kill fowl! Buharis minions can't make superior arguments. They can only push propaganda. The problem with you right now is that Buhari is making life very difficult for you lot. And it will only get worse. I feel sorry for you guys honestly |

omenka: The bold has always been my regret as well. I couldn't stop imagining what might have been had we achieved this feat of regime change in 2011!! Now we have a full blown crisis in our hands.
Just earlier this evening, watching cnn make analysis of the ramifications of the deal, they stated Saudi Arabia has already started a regime of price reduction for the oil it sells to the US to counter the impending competition from Iran!! Imagine that!! Imagine the implication for global oil prices in general and Nigeria in particular.
Honestly, our only saving grace now is agriculture and mining. We need to run back to the drawing board asap. All this joke comments you make is good for AY show. What has Buhari ever managed in his whole life? He can't even improve his personal knowledge after 30 years and calls Germany, western Germany. Is he not the same president that presented a corruption laden budget to settle his party cronies you are saying would have managed us well? The same one that is so incompetent that a national budget just got so messed up and the country ridiculed before the whole world? The same Buhari that hasn't even improved one thing since he came on and has continued to make a mockery of governance and leadership? No wonder he has to try to use a fake anti corruption fight to divert attention. The man is there now and is a theatre of comedies. You don't need to throw any assumption or conjecture. His leadership skills are already on display and it is a tale of woes. A calamity. The lowest point this country has ever sunk. Look at his economic team. Is this the team that would have saved this country? This accounting 101 finance minister and her band of Dundee's? I will like to have some of that thing you are having... |

Maybe you weren't born by 2007 so you didn't witness the ND crisis. How will Nigerian government even have the capacity to manage such a crisis if they can't produce and the little they produce is sold for less than $20? Like I said, some of you are just ignorant |
Foreign Affairs › Re: US and EU Officially Lift Nuclear Related Sanctions On Iran by snailspeed: 7:16pm On Jan 17, 2016 |
omenka: Well, I would have been all for the temporary fall in oil prices as is currently being witnessed for reason that it would give our government the impetus to diversify our economy and once and for all, put an end to this single commodity based economy.
But previous governments never had the foresight to sufficiently save forex upon which we could fall back when the need arises. Same savings we would have used to invest in other profitable sectors especially agriculture. As things stand, we don't have all the money we need to do so, not even sure we have half of it, yet the price of oil continues its downward spiral.
I have no idea how else to fix this problem than borrowing, which means further plunging the economy into debt. Our only saving grace is that we have a government we can trust to deploy borrowed funds appropriately- it is the most critical index that would decide what becomes of our economy/country after borrowing.
God help us. You mean deploy the borrowed funds to update a website for N795million? I see why you can trust them then. Must be seonethimg to do with Aisha's rice |

Crime › Re: Return Of Niger-Delta Militancy? Major Crude Oil, Gas Pipelines Bombed by snailspeed: 6:41pm On Jan 17, 2016 |
This will not go down well. But then Buhari doesn't follow good advise so he will make the wrong move again. And this time, he will bring the whole economy down finally. The budget is already in trouble because of low oil price but if the ND crisis resumes, he won't even have oil to sell for low prices.
The result will be a chain reaction. The stock market is already dead. Companies are folding up in their numbers, investors are pulling out, a crisis in the ND will be the final straw. The present situation already means that internally generated revenue will drop as taxes are based on company revenues. Companies whose stock have crashed will pay less taxes this year. Those that have folded up won't be paying any tax so even the projections from internal revenue will fall short
The militants will not submit themselves to security agencies. Why would they when the agencies don't follow court processes but just incarcerate people illegally and indefinitely without proper trial?
The security agencies can't handle them. They don't do conventional warfare. They just target oil installations. They know the creeks more than the military. They have nothing to lose. I wonder who is advising this government. That person is their worst enemy |

StOla: It is best you drop all now so we can all address it.
We cannot afford to have a continuation of Jonathan's regime. Nigerians have suffered enough.
Also make sure you get the conniving and irresponsible NA to critically screen the budget and the ministers when they come defend their budget.
That is the way of a patriot. Your reward is in the change you bring about.
I read about Patrick Akpobolokemi and Tompolo's loot and I wished that they had bundled the guy into the vehicle on his re-arrest with his head dragging on the road.
That guy had no conscience, yet we had a president then? Sorry dear. It is a marathon not a sprint. So get ready! You are going to be defending corruption for the next few months. I wish you luck doing that! |

StOla: I fail to see any corruption established here.
A budget has been presented with monetary allocations. The topic of discussion is one of them and by law the NA should screen and debate it.
Or has anyone stolen any money?
Those who have stolen are being prosecuted by this government and I am happy you also support the fight against corruption.
Whatever explanation the minister gives to whatever allocations to his ministry, it behoves all of us to ensure that such monies, even if just N50k, are spent as allocated and in accordance to due process in awarding contracts.
If the above is not followed by the minister, call on me and I will join you and Reyginus and help3852 and danmasani101 to shout Ole.
For now, calm your nerves and wait for the crime to be committed first.
Let us see how the present thieves who have actually stolen both allocated and unallocated funds are tried by the Buhari regime. You should put the heat on the government and ensure that the prosecution that has already started results to lengthy jail terms for all of them, whether sick, crippled, on hunger strike or whatnot. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha! You are a clown! You should become a comedian. You might do well! Meanwhile, keep supporting your corrupt Lords. I will advise you to get enough bandwidth because this is going to be a long journey. I have only dropped one item from 1800 pages. If you see some of the items I have here, you will faint! mrmetoo1: I'll say this, just because this is Nigeria I don't believe they'll upgrade the website for that amount of money. I believe this is one of those ways to steal money unless they come out and break it down further.
However let's try not too sound too ignorant. The OP said he knows guys that can build such website for N2m. What's such website? Do you know the kind of website they're trying to build? The company I worked for in the US spent millions of dollars on their "website" and spends thousands on maintenance and keeping it running. That was like a virtual office though, orders were placed through the website, payments were made, our whole inventory was on there, data entry guys were always adding new data. We in the engineering department used it to write notes and keep other departments updated on order progress and so on. Shipping and logistics kept records too, created shipping labels and so on. From the client side RMAs were created and so on and so forth.
Keep in mind the "Obama Care" website was built with $2.1bn, that's N400bn if we're using bank rates. The government was heavily criticized but they came out with a defense Please give me a break. Just stop this nonsense! Even Jumia or Konga website will not cost a 10th of that. What do you want to do on the site? A group of Ruby or Django guys will produce it for less than 5M and still tell you thank you. What do you even do on a site for ministry of solid minerals? It isnt even going to be a site for everyone because that ministry does not relate to every one. Its not like ministry of transport or youths and sports or ministry of interior or forein affairs. Their main clientelle are corporate organisations seeking to do mining business. Please dont make me laugh abeg |

On wednesday, I raised some specific arreas of corruption that President Buhari and the APC led government have to explain to the masses since May 29 and especially in the last few months. As a follow up to that, I will be looking at specifics in the coming days.
First on the list and since this is hot and fresh on our plate, I will be taking a look at the missing but found #BudgetOfYams. The whole event around the budget has become one big national disgrace that has taking us many steps backwards among the comity of nations. Seeing such a shameful news on BBC site is really sad and depressing and makes you ask why we have been this ladened with such a group of incompetent and stoneage leaders.
Having said that, I will start this with a simple item in the budget. I will advise everyone to please get a copy of the budget. It is available online. This one just caught my attention and is a prime example of how this budget was designed at a conduit pipe to steal and as a medium to repay politicians monies spent during the last elections. The first truth about the budget you will realise is that, if you prune it from all the corruption and bloated items, you will arrive at a budget of around N4 trillion. The rest is just largese to be shared by members of the ruling party. And to think that they are even going to borrow to fund their corruption largese is dishearthening.
This one is really hillarious. The federal ministry of solid minerals will be updating their website in 2016 with, wait for it......
N795, 234.275
Seven hundred and ninety five million Naira only! Oshe!!!
Maybe they want to develop another Facebook for Nigeria. Note that this is for update oh. This is not even to design a site from scratch. When it was revealed that saint Fashola did a website for N78m, we thought we had seen it all. But we thought wrong. APC is change so N78m will not do this time. Former Gov Fayemi has taken it to a whole new level and moved the ministry to the permanent site. You know he is close to Fashola so he must have learnt a thing or two from the master. Remember the N3.3 Billion government house where he spent N50 million on two beds?
I can confidently say that a small group of 5 Nairalanders can deliver such a site for 2 Million with thank you. We are really making progress in this country.

odeotito: Olisa Metuh still speaks this boldly! Of serious concern was the needless and cheap deaths our gallant soldiers of The Nigerian Armed Forces were put to. Fathers, husbands and about-to-be married men were sent off to battle against Boko Haram never to return alive but in body bags due directly to the fact that Jonathan and his government of thieves stole and diverted money meant for weapons to prosecute the war. Those folks were mean, wicked, conscienceless and given their unrepentant stance deserve to face the death our soldiers were put to! Thank God military coups (which I deprecate) are out of fashion and Rawlings not in town. This is nothing but cheap propaganda. IF he has a case to answer, take him to court. All these one you have typed is just deceit and insicerity |

ISpiksDaTroof: If this was here in the States, does this pendejo know that he just talked himself into at least 20 years in Prison?! HE HAS NO DEFENSE!!!
And why is the EFCC allowing all sorts of characters visit inmates pending trial? The ONLY people that should be allowed to visit him PRE-TRIAL are his legal team; even his spouse should only be allowed to speak to him on monitored phone calls and only for a few minutes each week until the conclusion of proceedings. He should not be allowed access to his PERSONAL phones, and his letters--- both incoming and outgoing--- except VERIFIED Attorney/Client correspondence should be monitored. The result of neglecting control of Pre-Trial Inmates is the idiocy we see in the above article.
Anyway, Nigeria is still learning, hopefully they get it right before it's too late. Stop exposing your ignorance in public. If it was the USA, he would not be in incaceration without trial in the first place. You go school at all? |

udemzyudex: I'm already downloading your writeup to my brain and it's at 90%...
I want to ask one question before it get to 100%. What about those who have been saying how much they collected? Please do get my message right. My position is not about defending or exonerating Dasuki. It is about 1. Everyone, in the eyes of the law, is innocent until proven guilty. That is a fundamental tenet of democracy and justice. I cannot stand here in good conscience and tell you Dasuki is not corrupt but if he is, it is for the court to prove that, not EFCC, DSS or Buhari. 2. I have not said anywhere in my write up or any of my follow up posts that he didnt give anyone money. My point is simple. They have come out to tell us Dasuki collected $2.2B meant for procurement of arms and misappropriated it and shared it to his cronies. First, there isnt such a $2.2B money approved for arms purchase. It is false. So the whole issue is on a false foundation from the start. He did receive monies for his office as NSA. Whether he disbursed such allocations to his office rightly or wrongly is a different discussion altogether and is a far cry from the Dasuki gate scandal that has gone on for months. And in the end, the courts should be allowed to do their job and give a verdict. The monies from the ONSA were definitely disbursed for various projects and assignments so people surely collected money from that office. But that does not suggest in any way that they committed crimes. In fact, we now have a blanket assumption that any money that was disbursed from that office was a fraud. This is so wrong and this kind of narrative is cheap propaganda. |
