tosyne law: Hi, I am not really an active member on this forum, I had my interview at the US embassy on the 13th of December and I promised myself I would come and share my testimony here.
I was very nervous before I had the interview cause this was my first time at the Us embassy.
This was how my interview went
VO: where in the us have you going to?
Me: New York
VO: what would you be doin in New York?
Me: holiday
VO: where have you been to
Me: London,Paris,Spain,china,Milan,brazil,Ghana,dubai,S.A
VO:what do you do
Me: I run a well established interior company
Vo:how much do u have?
Me: 6 digits and thousand in my Dom acc and also fix deposit
VO: how many pple work for u
Me: about 9
Vo: are u pregnant?
Me: no
VO: are you married?
Me: no
VO: do you have kids
Me: no
VO: pick up your passport on Tuesday from the Vfs office
Me: thank you, and have a nice day

It's really God my people, just dress up well and be very confident. That is what really matters. The guy that interviewed me didn't deny anyone all thru I waited till my turn. I prayed he should be the 1 to interview me and he was. I give God all the glory, He has really been faithful to me.

iresmae: Hi Nairaland! I am so glad i found this forum and i hope you give me pieces of advice.

I am from Philippines and I have a bf in US. I have a son and I am still processing my annulment for my previous marriage. My boyfriend is planning to invite me to go to US for a two-week vacation. And I am not so sure if they would be able to grant me a visit visa. I do not have any travel abroad. Does that mean that my chances of getting a visit visa is very low?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Ires
Like you know already going to US embassy with virgin passport is not boosting application but you have alot of time to put one or two countries in your passport and attend US embassy.Make sure you have good work before you attend your interview. Good luck to you.

taiken4ken: My parent are divoced and my dad is married to a citizen over ther! Intialy when he ws leaving in 2006 he wanted us to go with him but his affidavit of support could not carry us all!
We have filled the DS156 form and the only document we are providing is our letter of introduction from our skool!
We are depending solely on the documents sent by our dad
The chance is very slim also your Dad IV complicate it too but you can also use another method to get the Visa than your dad IV.
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by sndrmrtns: 9:58am On Jul 28, 2012
taiken4ken: Hellos guys! My dad is in USA and wants to invite us down there (I and my twin sister). our interview is slated in august 30 in abuja! We are students of lagos state university 300l and we traveled to malaysia in may and spent 12days as tourist! Pls wht are our chances since our dad can't file cus we are 24yrs old! Your advice wld b useful!
I believe your Dad did not input your name in his file for children and then we can know advice to give also you need to put more light on your issue here.If you have already filled the DS156 form then you have less advice to give or you change your DS156 form.

You need to have strong ties here because its straight flag that your Dad will want you to stay with him so you need alot of things to prove if you are using your Dad IV

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by sndrmrtns: 8:42am On Jul 28, 2012
ayobj: guys,
i will be in the UK in august and due to the submissions here.i have booked a hotel for 2 days at the cost of 100 pounds.
i renewed my visa with a hotel booking that has since lapsed.
that was in June.
you guys say they ask where you will be staying.that has never happened in all my trips.
what usually happens is that they ask for your trip details and and stamp your passport.
they never ask for my accomodation details even when i went with my family.
the only query in my case is why i was refused in 2008.when i explain, they go in to a superior and then come back and give me my passport.
so you guys owe me 100 pounds............lol
Do not forget favor move along with Visas or you prove it more than 100% to have it.

deevick246: I was refused today by the V0 at counter 6 (Lagos). This is how it went down:
I was not praying for the VO because he was spending a lot of time with applicants and he rejected a lot of applicants.
VO: the sighed me as I was walking across to him. Good morning, pass me your documents pls.
ME: good morning sir, here they are
VO: ok can you bring up your case...
ME: I was like na which one be bring up your case again. I asked him to repeat himself and he said it again. So I got it that he want me to tell him what I am here for. Na so I start by saying, I am going to study Masters in Public Administration at ..... University, then defined Public Administration as a disciplined which broadly deals with good governance, human relations and the society at large and also focuses on the implementation of government policies, programmes and activities for the betterment of the citizens. I choose to study masters in PA because I have a keen interest in good governance in Nigeria.
V0: ok, why this school?
ME: because the university offers excellence career preparation in public administration which a real world learning experience.
VO: Have u travel out of Nigeria before?
ME: no, there has not been a need to.
VO: ok, are u married?
ME: No.
VO: where do u work?
ME: I told him.
VO: who is paying for your fees.
ME: my dad.
VO: what does not dad do?
ME: he is a building contractor and a estate developer.
VO: did you write the GRE?
ME: No, the university does not require it for admission into this programme.
VO: I'm sorry I can not issue you the visa at this time....bla bla

Lesson: I know surely that I was refused on the grounds of GRE. Its painful tho, because the V0 was just looking at me and typing seriously and me maintained eye contacts all through.
Advice: please everyone going as a graduate student should endeavour to write either the GRE or GMAT, even if your school does not require it for admission purpose, like mine did not and plus that I had a $2000 partial scholarship, so I was thinking the GRE won't be an issue since its not part of the admission requirements.

At this point, I want to congratulate everyone who got their visas and those yet to go for their interview, I beg make una no dey entertain unnecessary fear, that interview is not as difficult as it has been projected. Its basically a conversation between 2 people ( you and the VO). Be yourself.
I sincerely appreciate king1_00, Freeman_lxy, leadzeal, djunit, walex57, samuel4U and everyone on this thread.
Its not over yet, until I get my visa lol

If you are going for Spring session please add one travelling experience and you will have 30 point already and other details will boost it to 60% then you will have ur Visa.80% of people who got their Visa had travelling experience on old or new passport ...Try to study others things not question asking by VO alone.........Even South Africa embassy seek for travelling experience before you get Visa or ask you to pay repatriation fee.God will do it for you.

Julie55: Hello house,
I was denied F1 visa last month.
The interview was so short, the VO was typing MOST of the time. He rarely looked at me.
I was asked just 4 questions-
1)Why Public Health?
Me- I have a passion to serve people, and improve the quality of health for those around me, rising need for public health specialists in Nigeria, etc
2)Who is sponsoring you?
Me- My Dad
3)What does he do?
Me- An engineer
4)What work do you do?
Me- A dentist
I answered fully. No documents were asked. After a long period of typing, he just said, Sorry....and that was all.
I was denied last year also. Same course, though a different school. So this year, I applied to a less expensive, but equally good school.
I have re-applied and will be going soon.
A few questions-
--Im trying to fill a new DS 160, but there is really nothing to change. I filled to first one as carefully, and truthfully as I could.I do not know how else that form could be filled.
--Do I need to snap a fresh passport? I still have copies of the passport I submitted last month.
--How about wearing a good sweater this time around. I felt too cold the other time.
--The 'remarks' section on my I20 says 'all funding subject to Consular Verification' Abeg apart from bank statements, what other 'verification' would they need?
--What else can I do, guys?
Hope to hear from you all!
You must not change your school because its big red flag on your last interview try to explain to VO know why you change your school ....you have to change ur red flag. Also do not change from one categories of Visa when you are not successful on first one ......VO use your information to read your mind.

yankison: Hehe , it seems dis abuja office is cruel this season o .

Wots happening there . Anyone hitting abuja soon
It's not about embassy centers but VO that interview you because each VO has target number of visa to issue out each month that accumulate to annual percentage and when VO reach target they will close their window and reopen to deny people with many questions and also notice if you give good reason and got denied without no reason just book another appointment and ask for God favor....Thats why reason of favor is very important in Yanke embassy. When you notice VO with many questions just try to look for window with few question and get your Visa.My view may not be accepted here but worth the research for 12yrs now.Goodluck to everyone interview.

yankison: Thanks for the prompt reply , shud the sponsor personal letter be on his letter or can just draft it on plain sheet they type it out . .

@ house

Does VO honor toefl result printout , coz hard copy is not with me .
The sponsor letter need to be type out on A4 paper and address to embassy but request for rush score report for your TOEFL result .Result print out may bring further questions from VO because you need to defend all questions from VO positive than negative answers .

you need to get sponsor affidavit letter from court with ur sponsor passport photograph and sponsor personal letter .

walex57: Guys in the US in the house, I gat some questions to ask...please at the airport, a friend of mine will be coming to pick me up and i'll be staying with him...on my ds-160 form i used at the embassy i filled the school address as where i will be staying and filled the school's official as who will pick me up but my school doesn't have provision for airport pick up so i'll have to find my way. the question i have is that on the I-94 form i will be filling on the plane, should i put the address of the school and the school official's name as where i will stay and who'll pick me up with the school's phone number or i should put my friend's address, name and phone number in that section?...also hope it will not be conflicting info as i dunno if they have prior info on me at the POE....also is it compulsory that i must travel with a travel insurance?....Guys help out
You do not need travel insurance from here and put your school address on I-94 form to avoid any question.
