Jakumo:Its not just about the jump. Did u watch the video? The suspension is like a flying carpet on uneven roads, speed bumps, potholes and the body frame of the car barely shakes. |
Bose spent years and millions creating the ultimate car suspension system. A technical success but a commercial flop, it never came to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KPYIaks1UY While there have been enhancements and improvements to both springs and shock absorbers, the basic design of car suspensions has not undergone a significant evolution over the years. But all of that's about to change with the introduction of a brand-new suspension design conceived by Bose -- the same Bose known for its innovations in acoustic technologies. Some experts are going so far as to say that the Bose suspension is the biggest advance in automobile suspensions since the introduction of an all-independent design. How does it work? The Bose system uses a linear electromagnetic motor (LEM) at each wheel in lieu of a conventional shock-and-spring setup. Amplifiers provide electricity to the motors in such a way that their power is regenerated with each compression of the system. The main benefit of the motors is that they are not limited by the inertia inherent in conventional fluid-based dampers. As a result, an LEM can extend and compress at a much greater speed, virtually eliminating all vibrations in the passenger cabin. The wheel's motion can be so finely controlled that the body of the car remains level regardless of what's happening at the wheel. The LEM can also counteract the body motion of the car while accelerating, braking and cornering, giving the driver a greater sense of control. Why Bose’s Electromagnetic Car Suspension System Never Made it to Market POSTED BY IN COMPLIANCE NEWS ON FEBRUARY 13, 2016 IN ENGINEERING NEWS | LEAVE A RESPONSE Bose—the company best known for its high-end speakers—spent three decades on a side project developing an active suspension system for luxury vehicles. The system was a passion project for the company’s late founder Amar Bose. Although it was kept quiet for many years, going by the code name Project Sound, in 2007 Mr. Bose said the high-tech suspension system was ready for commercialization. Jaguar, Mercedes, Honda, and Ferrari all expressed interest in the technology, but nothing ever happened. Now, Bose’s new CEO Bob Maresca revealed the reason the project stalled, in an interview with CNET. Maresca was first hired by Bose in the 1980s to work as an engineer on the secret suspension project. Now, 30 years and a few big promotions later, Maresca explained why Project Sound never quite came to fruition. The project was a technical success but a commercial failure because the unique suspension system was too heavy and expensive for automakers to incorporate into vehicles. Still, as the video above demonstrates, the system is exquisite. The active suspension system borrows speaker technology to adapt suspension to road conditions so that drivers and passengers don’t feel any bumps in the road. It uses electromagnetic motors powered by electric power amplifiers and switches, which work together to make the wheels bounce up and down over obstacles, while the body of the car remains still. This system uses proprietary software, linear electromagnetic motors, and power amplifers to control each wheel. Bose Unfortunately, special metal and a powerful computer processor make the system heavy and expensive. For now, the technology that took many years and dollars to develop is being used in Bose Ride, a special seat for commercial trucks, designed to reduce drivers’ fatigue and back pain. https://incompliancemag.com/bose-electromagnetic-car-suspension-system/

The UAE on Thursday appointed Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama as the country's first Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence as part of a cabinet reshuffle. Aged just 27, his appointment is part of the UAE's ambition to be at the forefront of the global technological revolution which sees it planning to be build homes on the planet Mars by 2117. The position was announced in a tweet by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Prime Minister and Vice President and ruler of Dubai who said: "The new Government is a Government for the new Emirati percentage. To develop knowledge. Supporting science and research." The move comes just days after Sheikh Mohammed announced the UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (AI), a major part of the UAE Centennial 2070 objectives. The initiative aims to improve government performance and create an innovative and highly-productive environment by means of investing in AI. Other new positions created in the reshuffle include a Minister for Advanced Sciences and another for Food Security, according to a series of tweets, written in Arabic. Sheikh Mohammed said: "The new Government is a Government for the new Emirati percentage. To develop knowledge. Supporting science and research." In other announcements, Ahmad Belhoul was appointed as Minister of State for Higher Education & Advanced Skills and chair of the Federal Authority for Human Resources. Nasser Thani Al Hameli was named Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation while 30-year old Sara Al Amiri has become Minister of State whose portfolio will cover advanced sciences. Maryam Al Mehairi has been named UAE Minister of State whose portfolio will cover food security and Nora Al-Kaabi was appointed as Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.. Hessa Buhumaid is the new the Minister of Community Development while Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan is Minister of State for Tolerance and Zaki Nusseibeh is named a Minister of State. As part of the reshuffle, Minister of Energy, Suhail Al Mazroui, will also be in charge of developing the manufacturing sector and advanced industries while Abdullah Mohammad bin Touq was appointed Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet. Earlier in a tweet, Sheikh Mohammed said a cabinet reshuffle would be announced on Thursday. In his tweet, Sheikh Mohammed said the reshuffle would represent “a renewal of blood, a catalyst for change and a preparation for the next stage of our nation's path”. In the last significant structural change, Sheikh Mohammed announced in February last year that the UAE planned to outsource most government tasks to the private sector and cut the number of ministries. He announced the formation of a single education ministry, abolishing the ministry of higher education, and fused several other state bodies into related ministries.

Here comes the competition. Elon Musk the Dangote of USA. |
Tesla's given us a glimpse of its latest Model 3, and it's packed with slick improvements. The sensational ride handles itself quite well on all types of terrain. The interior matches Tesla's exceptional style. USA TODAY Tesla has reportedly fired hundreds of employees amid signs that the company is off to a slow start in manufacturing its crucial Model 3 electric car. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based automaker and tech company dismissed several hundred workers, according to multiple reports, including an initial story by the Mercury News. Reuters also reported the news. The dismissals occurred after what Tesla described as "an annual performance review" of its more than 33,000 employees. The company did not provide specifics. But the firings reportedly included engineers, managers, salespeople and factory employees. In this handout photo made available by Tesla Motors on July 3, 2017 shows robotics at work on a Telsa car at the Fremont Factory in Fremont, Calif. In this handout photo made available by Tesla Motors on July 3, 2017 shows robotics at work on a Telsa car at the Fremont Factory in Fremont, Calif. The move comes as Tesla is aiming to rapidly expand production of its new mass-market Model 3. CEO Elon Musk had said the company would be making 5,000 cars per week by the end of the year, but that goal appears to be in jeopardy amid early stumbles. It was not clear whether any of the firings were connected to the manufacturing problems. Musk acknowledged on Oct. 6 that the company was facing "bottlenecks" in Model 3 production. He said Tesla was "diverting resources" to clear up the Model 3 production challenges, which was one factor in the company's decision to delay its reveal of an electric semi-truck by about three weeks. The company said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on Oct. 2 that "a handful" of its "manufacturing subsystems" have "taken longer to activate than expected. https://amp.azcentral.com/amp/765954001 |

Royal Mail is beginning trials in London of nine fully electric vans with ranges of up to 100 miles. The vehicles, which come in various sizes, will distribute post from the central London depot. They were produced by Oxfordshire-based carmaker Arrival, which recently opened a new factory in Banbury. Another batch of 100 electric vans for Royal Mail has also been ordered from Peugeot. Having already been trialled by Royal Mail, these will enter service in December. Arrival says the nine vehicles it has supplied come in sizes of three and a half, six and seven and a half tonnes. The new electric vans - one of the smaller ones is shown here in a digital render - have a range of up to 100 miles Although the current prototype versions of the vans are fitted with wing mirrors, a spokeswoman for Arrival told the BBC they will be removed from the final design - as cameras will be used to monitor traffic to the rear instead. Royal Mail was "delighted" to be collaborating with Arrival, said Paul Gatti, Royal Mail Fleet's managing director. "We will be putting them through their paces over the next several months to see how they cope with the mail collection demands from our larger sites," he added. Royal Mail's fleet comprises about 49,000 vehicles in total. "European postal providers, starting with DHL in Germany, have been taking this approach for a while now," said Ananth Srinivasan, a mobility expert with research consultancy Frost & Sullivan. He added that five countries - the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain - had the potential to convert significant proportions of their fleets to electric vehicles in the coming years. "Our research indicates that by 2025 these countries may have 100,000 postal service vehicles going electric between them," he told the BBC. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-41025771?utm_source=&utm_medium=linkedincompanies I hope Nigeria begins to think about the future. 10 years from now Nigeria would be so backward like 70yrs behind technology if giant strides aren't taken now. Our number 1 problem above is still stable electricity. Our current govt is seems only to be using their limbic cortex to function.

magicfingers009:What was your average speed and what was the weather conditions? All these relatively affect tyre pressure. Also what kinda gauge did you use check your tyre psi? If it's an analog Gauge I don't guarantee it it giving you the right reading. Try to buy a small digital Gauge you will notice the difference, it's not expensive 2k. Remember I said on a hot day. Though you may still get an increase of 2 or 3psi after travel a distance of over 200miles on normal weather. |
