Your dad clearly had physically and emotionally abused you as well as employed blackmail. Despite the fact that he is your father he does not own you. You have as much right to a good life as he does. I would advice you to clearly think through your decision before going ahead with it. Also seek counsel from a trusted matured family member of a priest. |

A member of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Okiye, has blamed the state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the crisis rocking the House. Okiye, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in the House, alleged that the leadership crisis in the Assembly was masterminded by the executive arm of government. It would be recalled that the House broke into two, along party lines, after an attempt to change the House leadership by Action Congress (AC) legislators resulted in a free-for-all-fight. The PDP legislator told Daily Sun in an interview that there was visible presence of officails of the state government in the House the day the crisis started. According to him, “the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Pally Iriase led the police team. The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Osarodion Ogie, was visibly present. EDSG vehicles were used in carrying thugs to the House that day. Edo State government was visible on that day. You can see the hands, the head and face of the Edo State governor. When you watch the clip you see the special adviser to the governor on legislative matters who supervised the kangaroo sitting.” Okiye, who blamed the crisis in the House on ‘greed for power and disrespect for the rule of law’, insisted that the House under Hon. Zakawanu Garuba remains intact. He said this is because the 13 AC legislators do not have the constitutionally required two-third majority to effect a leadership change. Besides, he said there is no petition anywhere against the House leadership. “The House is still intact. All they are doing is scrambling for survival. What gives legitimacy is 2\3 majority. We were told that they went to Oredo to borrow a mace. The clerk said he was made to swear in the speaker pro-tempore under duress. “They don’t even have a petition. Why didn’t they flash the petition. Usually, before there is an impeachment, there is usually a petition that is made available to everybody. Even you, I am sure you have not seen the petition,” Okiye stated. @ ohisng There goes your evidence. More to come. |
Nigeria’s central bank will probably keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged tomorrow as the removal of fuel subsidies threatens to keep inflation above 10 percent, a survey of economists showed. The monetary policy rate will remain at 6 percent, according to seven of eight economists surveyed by Bloomberg. The main lending rate to commercial banks will probably be maintained at 8 percent and the borrowing rate at 2 percent. Nigeria, Africa’s biggest oil producer, plans to end subsidies for domestic fuel consumption, which cost the government 600 billion naira ($4 billion) last year. That may spur inflation, which climbed to an annual 12.3 percent in January, giving the Central Bank of Nigeria little room to lower borrowing costs. “Inflation is still a concern and there’s much uncertainty about the removal of subsidies,” said Ridle Markus, Africa strategist at Johannesburg-based Absa Group Ltd., a unit of Barclays Plc. “We don’t know when that’s going to happen, but when it does, it will have a significant impact on inflation.” The central bank has left its key rate unchanged since July, while reducing the main borrowing rate to commercial banks by 2 percentage points in November. Nigeria’s Minister of State for Finance Remi Babalola said today that the petroleum subsidies were “not sustainable in the long run” and deregulation of the oil and gas industries remains an “imperative.” Government spending on fuel subsidies last year was equal to that on capital expenditure, he said. Yar’Adua’s Return The government stalled implementation of the plan after President Umaru Yar’Adua left the country in November for medical treatment for a heart ailment in Saudi Arabia. “The prospect of fuel price deregulation poses a serious threat to headline inflation, said Alan Cameron, Africa analyst at London-based Business Monitor International. “Monetary policy will only have a limited impact” on curbing price pressures if subsidies are removed. Yar’Adua’s return to Nigeria on Feb. 24 may not speed up abolition of gasoline subsidies. His return may trigger a power struggle with Deputy President Goodluck Jonathan, who was named acting president by the legislature on Feb. 9, the global political consultancy Eurasia Group said last week. Nigeria’s central bank may also keep interest rates unchanged as credit demand from the private sector improves. Credit growth accelerated to an annual 27 percent in December from 25 percent in the previous month, according to the central bank. That is still lower than growth of almost 100 percent in December 2007. On Track “Money supply growth is picking up,” said Leon Myburgh, a Johannesburg-based strategist for sub-Saharan Africa at Citigroup Inc. “Getting into single-digit inflation has eluded the central bank for some time. They’re unlikely to move on interest rates.” Nigeria’s economy is on track to expand 6.1 percent this year, while inflation will average 11.2 percent, Babalola said. “The monetary policy stance of the present administration reflects the tendencies to curb inflation, reduce undue liquidity injection and limit wide fluctuation on the inter-bank rate,” the minister said. http://www.freshplaza.com/news_detail.asp?id=59714 |

Well thats the beauty of democracy; freedom of expression and criticism. Not cynicism or praise singing as many in Oshiomhole government do. They only decamped to the AC as money to be stolen was drying out in the PDP. When the AC gets booted out of office in the future and another party gets voted in eg HIV party , they would all decamp and join the governing party. Its a shame Oshiomhole refused to distance himself from such people but has gladly welcomed them with open arms. People such as Bob Izua [convicted murderer], Ize Iyamu [PDP frontman/chief looter under Lucky], Chief Igbafe, Charles Idahosa, Senator Owie, to mention a few. I am apolitical and only want the best for the state unlike yourself a paid AC member. How you have the heart to defend the millions of misdemenours perpetrated by this government is gobsmarking. 1 billion naira to plant flower on a roundabout, 150 million naira to construct a personal swimming pool at the government house, plunging the state into over 20 billion naira debt in only one year and failing to account for it, romancing times without number with the Igbinedions who have massacred the state without ever calling for them to be called to book, etc etc. The language he understands is violence and seizing things by force. He should remember that those who live by the sword shall die by the sword. |

Again we all know your stance on these issues. You are an Edo state AC member and their cheif spokesman on NL. Ab initio your arguements are biased and lack validity. ohisng:Do you need hard evidence to prove that OBJ wanted a third term? or that he looted the treasury? Do you need hard evidence that Lucky Igbinedion the chief godfather of AC in Edo state recked the state and left it in a kwashiorkored condition? Definitely not. Its not rocket science to know the perpetrators of the failed coup. Your governments spokes person and ex-PDP thug Charles Idahosa has publicly hailed the shameful ongoings in the house. There are numerous problems bedeviling the state at present. 1.No job 2. Armed robbers, Kidnappers, muggers have turned the state into their playground. Just type Edo state in google search and you would be amazed at the numer of crime related articles that pops out. 3. Lack of basic amenities like water, good roads, rural electrification projects, affordable housing, etc. 4. The debt profile of the state has massively risen in one year since Oshimhole got into office. He met 1.5 Billion naira debts, but after 12 months has presented a debt firgure of 24 Billion naira. What has he used the money for? Planting flowers at ringroad? ![]() What happened to the billions of naira in internally generated revenue? Oshiomhole has shown his true colours. He is not a man of the people as he had for long disguised he is but a hoodwinking, womanizing, crooked thug. |
THE AMAKA:I have come across a good number of your previous posts and the common theme is overt or covert confrontation and divisiveness. Therefore i didnt need to go through the said posts to reach a conclusion about you. You have been a registered user here too long and feel it is your playground. What goes around comes around. |

Even if we employ a hundred foreign coaches plus those from Mars, Nigeria will not win the world cup. This action would have made more sense if it were done prior to the Nations cup which we stood a good chance of winning. |

The arrival hall of the international wing is pathetic and a national disgrace. |
Disregard them riversman. Oshiomhole thinks Edo state is his personal property. He has illegally sponsored a coup d' etat to overthrow the constitutionally elected leadership of the Edo state Assembly. He wants a one man rule in Edo state. It appears he is allergic to peace in the state and always heating up the polity. |
nitrogen:thats a pretty sweeping statement. how many online forums have you been to? |
