Phones / MTN Nigeria Reduces Night Plan Volume And Increases SME Data Price by Sodia(m): 4:02am On Aug 16, 2018
MTN Nigeria is officially set to increase SMEsdata price and as well cut down the amount of data given for their night plan.

FYI: SME - small / medium enterprises

According to the official text message sent to all SME data sellers;

Dear Customer, from August 21, 2018, the following prices will apply to MTN SME Data Share: 10GB at N7,500; 20GB at N14,000; 50GB at N30,000. Thank you.

So, from 21st of August 2018, the new prices would take effect, and this would really kick some resellers out of the business while some will drastically increase their data prices which at the same time will leave customers with options to either buy directly from MTN or go with the new price.

MTN Reduces Night Plan Volume And Increases Data Price

Similarly is another sad news for MTN data users, with this new update, MTN Night Data Volume becomes 125MB for N25, 250MB for N50.

According to a text message sent by MTN:

Y'ello! when you buy the Pulse Night plan at N25 from 16/08/2018, you now get 125MB. You also get 250MB for N50 and can make multiple purchases. Dial *406# to buy.

Remember you can subscribe for the MTN night plan, see below

How To Subscribe To MTN Night Plan
The activation method hasn't changed. The same method you use previously, is also the same method used for the activation. On the offchance you don't know the activation code, kindly migrate to MTN Pulse Tariff by dialing *406#. After that, sms NIGHT to 131 to activate MTN night data plan.

Phones / 7 Steps To Help Increase Your Phone's Battery Life In 2018 by Sodia(m): 8:46am On Jul 31, 2018
Phone battery life is like the integral part of a phone, sincerely, without having the phone battery in a phone, the phone is so useless as one will not be able to perform any activity on the phone.

One of the major recommendations in buying a phone these day is to buy a smartphone with long battery life spam, at least a 3000mAh, to last you minimum of 6 hours on normal usage, some even will suggest a 4000mAh minimum battery capacity is best for you to take into consideration when getting a new phone.

Yes, the whole fact and consideration of phone battery capacity is true, but one thing you should know is to enjoy the maximum capacity of that battery you need to protect it, when i say protect the phone battery, is all about increasing your phone battery life.

One thing you should know about phone battery life is that it cannot be the same as time goes on, the same 3000mAh when the phone was initially bought cannot be the same battery capacity in few weeks or months to come. So this brings us to the need for increase in your phone battery life.

There are a lot of steps and tips to increase phone battery life, and there have been changes to this way or method overtime, this means that as the days go by, several ways and methods/steps are developed or so to say known to increase phone battery life.

7 Steps To Increase Phone Battery Life In 2018

Below i have highlighted 7 steps to increase phone battery life in 2018. For me this steps and tips have been helpful to increase my phone's battery life, and sure will be helpful in yours.

Also i will like to chip in, if you know or have any tips that have helped you too, kindly drop in the comment section, your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

1. Switch Off Your Location Services
A lot of apps on iPhone and Android use “location services”. This can reduce battery life, so it is essential you take note of it. You can tell if an app is using location services by looking out for a small arrow on the top of your menu bar.

2. Use Of Airplane Mode
Your iPhone or Android device will always try to connect to a cellular network when possible, and this can put a strain on your battery if you’re in an area with limited (or no) service.

Switching on Airplane Mode in Settings will stop this from happening. You however should take note of the fact that you won’t be able to make or receive calls while you activate this mode. An option to receive calls is getting a smaller device.

Connecting to internet via wireless, routers and co is best in this instance.

3. Turn Wi-Fi off
Another simple-but-forgettable tip: If you’re not using your smartphone to connect to wireless Internet, switch the wi-fi settings to “off.” This will stop your phone from looking for networks, thereby saving resources.

4. Clear Out Apps
Even if you’re not using an app, it can run in the background and sap battery life from your smartphone. Android devices allow you to “multitask” with apps running behind the scenes. It is best to force stop all the apps you are not using if you intend to conserve the battery of your phone.

5. Lower Your Screen Brightness
The brighter your screen, the more battery it’s eating. Lowering your screen brightness is easy as all you need to do is go to your settings and turn down the lights to keep your phone running longer.

6. Be On The Lookout For Push Notifications
Each time your phone receives a notification from the network, it lights up and, depending on your settings, vibrates or makes a noise, too. This settings run down your battery, especially if you are the type that receives a lot of updates. Always put device on do not disturb mode.

7. Keep Your Phone Cool

If your phone’s lithium-ion battery gets too hot, it’ll discharge its energy faster and could even degrade the maximum life of the battery over time. Don’t carry it in your pocket if you can avoid it (especially if your pants are tight), and never leave your device sitting in direct sunlight or in a hot car.

Phones / 5 Terrible Things You Should Avoid When Using The Internet by Sodia(m): 2:05am On Nov 26, 2017
Long ago, comparing the internet to what it is now, you will find out absolutely that a lot of things have changed; there has been a lot of improvement in technology, and that alone has made our lives easier. Hardly before you find someone who isn’t on any social media.

Despite these advancements, there are thing you mustn't do online, must of us are guilty yhis things and its very important we stop doing them.

5 Worst Things You Should Stop Doing Online

Below are five (5) things i have outlined in which you should stop doing on the internet:

Avoid Synchronizing All Your Social Media Accounts Online

Synchronizing Facebook, Instagram, twitter, in such a way that when you make an update on Facebook it automatically sends it to other social network isn’t right at all. It sounds great in theory, but it is awful in real life. What you need to understand is that every social network is different. What works on Facebook, doesn’t work on Twitter, Linkedin or Instagram.

Using One Or Weak Passwords

I agree that not many people can remember all of their passwords. So they find one good, strong password that they use for absolutely everything. It is absolutely wrong to use the same password for your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, email etc. You need to have more than one password. In fact, you need at least three to five different passwords that you use for different internet accounts.

Also for weak passwords, o you know that a lot of us use easy to guess password? How can you use 123456 as your password or 7654321… This can make any dummy easily guess your password and hack into your account. Even using your date of birth as password is not correct.

A good password should comprises of Letters, numbers symbols etc. e.g M4_09!... Let your password be strong enough that no demon on earth will be able to guess it.

Being Careless With Your Login Details

Being careless with your login details is totally bad, it is called login details because it is exclusive to you, it belongs to you and nobody else, not even your wife or your boyfriend should have access to your login details. That way, your information's are secured when it is exclusively known to you alone.

Another way of being careless with your login details is storing your login details on public computers or personal computers; Some of us still make use of the Café and even store our login details on the used browser which is absolutely not right. Even storing your login details on your own personal computer is not right because somehow, someday someone might have access to it.

Revealing Your Email Address Or Phone Number In A Comment Box Or Anywhere Online

I have stopped this long ago and ensure that every email that has ever been published on this blog was deleted. Never leave your email address on any blog post, Facebook or any platform that exposes it to the public, it is not safe, also in revealing your phone number online, a lot of people are guilty of this, post their phone numbers on Facebook, so that anyone can just check on you, PM you or WhatsApp you. Be smart about it and be wise about it.

Avoid Links In Email

Criminals love clickable links in emails. They absolutely love them. Yes, they are a good idea in theory. But sometimes, theory and real life do not work in the same way. Clicking on a link in your email might take you to a website with malicious software, if possible do not download any attachment you don’t know anything in your email, they can use it to hack into your account.

In conclusion, its important you keep your privacy private online, before the public will make your privacy public, LOL!

Phones / Advantages And Disadvantages Of Rooting An Android Phone by Sodia(m): 12:43am On Sep 28, 2017
Have you ever wondered how beneficial rooting an android phone is? Well some may say yes, i believe your answer too is affirmative.

Now let me chip this in that: Everything that has an advantage also has a disadvantage. Rooting an Android phone of course comes with many advantages, alongside i will tell you the larger the advantage the larger the disadvantage. What does this mean? Hehehe are you kidding me, just in case don't know which of course am here to brief you about is the same way you will love your phone when you root it and admire that phone perhaps because of the functionality and features you get access to when you root your android phone is 100% from my research the opposite you get which is the disadvantage. Hope am not confusing someone here. Lol, hope you are not afraid of what may have happened to your android phone? I will say if you have rooted your android phone or about to root its a choice and what matters most times is knowing about something, its good when you know exactly the disadvantages of something, like what to expect and still go into doing it, you know thats risk by its own natural definition.

So what point am i driving at, well seeing this post is to show you the pros and cons of rooting an android phone, which are the advantages and disadvantages of rooting.

Before i go into this advantages and disadvantages, i would first like to define what rooting is. Now, this is my own definition of rooting.

What is Rooting?

Rooting is a process that allows you to attain root access to the Android operating system code (the equivalent term for Apple devices id jailbreaking). It gives you privileges to modify the software code on the device or install other software that the manufacturer wouldn't normally allow you to.

Defined in it simplest terms, hope my definition is explicitly enough. Now straight to the advantages and disadvantages of rooting an android phone.

Advantages Of Rooting An Android Phone

Though some may want to argue with me, you know, well knowledge and thoughts varies, but my advantages of rooting an android phone which I have highlighted below for sure covers all. check them out. Remember though advantages are very similar to the benefits of rooting an android phone also.

Full Control Over Android: Having total or full control of your android phone is the one thing infact number one benefit or advantage of rooting an android phone, which means you are able to decide some certain things on Android, you know take control over removal and deleting some system applications or files that may have consumed spaces, infact its more like you being the real boss of your phone and sending the messenger which is your android phone tasks to perform. Its general control over your android device.
Back Up And Restore The Whole System: Most unrooted phones may not be able to be backed up, like you running into recovery mode or using some gadgets to backup your device, when your android phone is rooted, you can do this, also restore your device, when rooted some files or applications might have been lost or missing, through rooting, you can get this back.
Save Space On Your Phone:Have you heard about RAM EXPANDER? this is an android application that works on rooted devices, it manages your RAM space by adding more memory to the cache/RAM of your android phone, with this you can have more RAM allocated to your initial RAM that comes with your phone, which helps you to save more space if you agree with me. Also it helps to save ROM space, normal ROM of your phone is the phone memory right? additional ROM is the memory card or SD CARD memory as some may call it. Now there are some phones i think Tecno P9, its a tablet, on this phone it gets to a point when you can no longer install apps on your phone memory, normal system ROM, and you still have memory space on your SD Card, by rooting your android phone you can move apps installed on your phone memory to your SD card, by free up your phone memory space and having more space to add more files using an app Link To SD; but all this is only possible if your phone is rooted.
Run Special Applications:An an android user, lately you should have heard or seen apps that won't work unless your phone is rooted. They call most of them special apps, like the RAM EXPANDER and LINK TO SD apps i have mentioned above, similar apps are the same, meaning they can't work and you cannot perform such special functions unless your phone is rooted.
Install Custom ROMs:What are custom roms? these are more like software, operating system, OS, of Android phones, sometimes when you cannot update your phone from a particular android version to another, you may need to get a custom rom, and this installation cannot be done except your phone is rooted.

Disadvantages Of Rooting An Android Phone

The opposite of the benefits: Well you may go into deeper thoughts on this like oppposite? really... Well its not a disadvantage like that but i just want to chip it in because something when your phone is not rooted, you don't get those benefits, but its not a disadvantage.
Cannot update via OTA (Losses Warranty from Manufacturer):OTA is known as Over The Air, which is the normal way of doing system/software update.
Easily prone to Malware or Viruses from Untrusted Apps. (Not protected).
Phone may crash at anytime in the future.

Let me know what you think of this in the comment box.
