I don't care about your politicians and you. I don't even want to know what you are yarning. You deserve your leaders. I didn't ask you to agree with me. I only asked you to be reading an opposition's view with clarity. You wrote something, I said I agree and you still came up writing what no one even knows. Pick a convenient struggle and stick to it. Even us here we don't want ya'll back home to come and ruin our chances. . Abi you want to come a day wash toilet? I work as a CCA in a care home owned by a Nigerian here in Canada. All our patients are whites. Bros, they love me more than their own children o, especially because they know it's not eye service I'm doing. My employer is a renowned obgyn and has children who are God fearing and doing very well. They're not morally reprehensible just because their parents raised them here. I agree that y'all are millionaires in Nigeria and we are the poor ones who have to slave for the whites. I hope your children agree with you in 30 years. This is my last post here, by the way. I found a more worthwhile and engaging thread to occupy my time on Facebook so I'll leave you with this. I come from a comfortable background. My grandparents in their days were successful merchants who dealt in food and clothings in Lagos, and my uncles and parents were lucky to have enjoyed when Nigeria was better. Education was almost free or at least affordable, there were opportunities to further their education and training abroad. My uncle came back and worked with the MOE until retirement. He was a director. He was able to build a couple of flats while in service, and he rented them out. He also started a consulting business. Then the government owed workers who were his tenants. They couldn't pay rent. The patrons of his business had to prioritize, and chose food over business solutions. Uncle's children have asked him to come abroad because their father will just shrivel up and die in Nigeria. After 35 years of service. My father? One of the most brilliant agronomists ever to have come from Nigeria. Did so well in his field of study that he was respected everywhere. Then he was ill. The doctors said it was spiritual attack. That was the diagnosis until he had an aneurysm and thankfully went home to his maker before the disgrace became too much. No diagnosis. Or was there? A country where even market women in Lagos Island send their kids abroad is where you're saying ALL of us should stay. I hear you. Stay. Build very well. Put your trust in PENCOM. Wait for the building of metro rail. ASUU will soon call off strike. Boko Haram will surrender. Education at CU and Babcock will be free. Inventions will be from only Nigeria. I'm not just waiting around for that to happen when I can even for no reason. I know you will still come and write one thing one thing. But if you search your mind very well this night, I know you won't mind relocating abroad. |

you are very funny, have you read about the amish community, you think all what you wrote dont happen in the developed world
all what you mention is not only a nigerian stuff, it seems you are not even expose in where you stay, rituals also occur in developed world
it has been reported many times in the news. We've just said the same thing. It happens every, every where. Your Nigeria is not the saintly and moralistic place you're painting it to be. Morals this, morals that, and people are buying WAEC results. Parents pay for admission slots not merited. See, in an argument, sometimes the other party will agree with you. I've agreed with you twice now. It's just that you're reading it with one kind of eye. Peace and Unity, brother. I enjoin you to keep all your family in your wealth in Nigeria and help as many people as possible make the society sane. Maybe with luck, Fela Durotoye will win and Nigeria will become the most desirable country to live in by 2023. |

thebosstrevor: dont think nigerians in nigerians are stupid, they are more mentally stronger than you
Most of the things that work in Nigeria is because of other nigerians
All the Nigerians building startups in Nigeria are all from abroad, why did they not become successful there is because there are plenty of competition. if you want to be recognise, to build things come to nigeria with top notch skills, if you love your comfort zone and you are comfortable with being among those in the rat race, you can stay there. we are not begging you to come back but this country will be built whether you like it or not.
tiwa savage, jason, don jassey, dbanj, etc are all from abroad, they are recognised for their act, something they would not have achieved abroad.
even some british and american born Nigerians are now wanting to be part of our entertainment industry. Why didn't Tiwa Savage give birth in Nigeria |

thebosstrevor: Moral standards are high in Nigeria even in Africa, we are exceptional i dont know Praise Fowowe and i am not a consultant
Now for those that wont travel abroad what is your advice for them, that they should continue trying until they get it? You don't know Praise Fowowe. You're not a consultant. I put it to you that moral standards in Africa are at an all-time low. Your children that you people claim respect you, do they obey out of love for your feelings and safety for themselves or because they know that any small mistake will earn them a spine deforming slap? Your country boys stealing panties and sleeping with their mother's corpses for money rituals were raised in North America? The girls who cohabit with their boyfriends on campus but are virgins at home were brought up in Europe? It's end time brother. Don't tight anything to your chest. Nigeria doesn't even care about you. My advise is for those who want to stay is to come and meet you this Christmas season. |

thebosstrevor: if you want to talk about morality
the western world have nude beach for orgies, swingers clubs where a married man will take his wife to have sex with others not talk about black guys, homosexuality, transgender, legalization of marijuana ,they want to feminise men, so that is the good morality you want to preach about. moral standard in the western world is down.
life abroad doesnt make sense for everyone, some immigrant are better off in Nigeria
i know people who were practicing in Nigeria and lost that dream abroad.
what about people who left their good jobs in nigeria and went abroad to achieve nothing, they wish they can come back but they are ashamed.
Many hope will be lost if we dont tell people that they can also make it in Nigeria. Moral standards in the world is down. Nigeria isn't any better. You can call Praise Fowowe and ask him. I totally agree that some immigrants are better of being home. SOME. Me and my family are better off being here. We're capitalising on the opportunity Nigeria didn't offer us. I agree again that some people get here and lost it. We, we're not losing it. When you're leaving Nigeria for anywhere, even Ghana, do it with sense. If you come here and get a survival job, do it and improve on your skills to get a better job. Not doing McDonald's for 10 years. Come legally and don't intend or try to play smart anything. Be optimistic. Work hard. It's in your naija blood anyway. You'll be fine. If you're not, go back home and consult thebosstrevor |

I've read on this forum about tax, our tax isn't as high as it is abroad, I also think morality is higher here, for guys it's a patriarchal country, for women not the same. We get away with many things down here like you still see pips living in houses where they owe 2 whooping years rent! eventually they will leave without paying, one can live off relatives here conveniently . You gat no house? u might get accommodation and free feeding. Too many stuff I can mention that we gat. I've got no problem with pips that want to travel for greener pastures because destiny differs but I think these guys are trying to help us think and plan. That's how to make it. If people live in a house I built from my retirement money and don't pay for two years that's a good thing. Living off relatives is good. Being a liability and feeding off the sweat of others is encouraged. If I ever meet you, you'll get a hug, a bowl of African salad and a massage. You took the words out of my hands(mouth). chigoizie7: lol. yes, purpose comes before money, ask a young nigerian child what they want to be when they grow up and you will see sincerity in their answers, however, they remain persistent on what they want until they write jamb and they couldn't be admitted because they don't know any one or have money to bribe their way, they u will see focus and purpose change.
The few that got admitted, graduated but couldn't secure a job because they are not connected will immediately change the purpose .
na person wey 1st chop de think other things.
Every focus now lands on making money, because here in naija once u have enough money , u can get anything done.
even the ones that didn't go to formal education, has their dreams shattered because there is no support anywhere.
if I know whit assurance that once I am done school that I am going to be gainfully employed no matter the course I read. that my researches will always be funded . why wont I be calm and focused on my purposes?
I work in on of the financial institutions in naija, Nnewi precisely is where my branch is located, Nnewi is also a town where the teaching hospital is located, I interact with people because of my job. most of these medical/ nursing students are not here because of the passion for the job but because they are employable anywhere with high pay. that is what naija environment has made them to understand.
here u read medicine because u can or because u r intelligent not because u have passion for humanity all because u wouldn't want to die of hunger.
in USA, u read medicine because of the humanity reasons or some reasons that is not entirely about the money.
in USA , u read fine and applied arts because of the passion for that.
here in NAIJA u only read fine and applied arts because that is the only department that can offer you an admission and everyone is ok with it, why? because what matters is that once u graduate, u can work in a bank even when u read hausa language provided you are well connected.
the system here is so messed up. it Is not that we dont know about purposes in life, but we cant do them on empty stomachs.
here, there is nothing like building a career. it is all about surviving first.
the only set of people that came close to having careers are teachers/lecturerers , but what kind of career would that be when a professor in mechanical engineering doesn't know what to do his car when it develops a fault or a professor in electrical engineering calls an apprentice electrician to come change bulbs in his house?
Nigerians are just looking for countries that can give them what Nigeria cant give them. Nigerians do better in a saner climes than in Nigeria. |

toboy: Hey Justewise, First time I am ever getting a direct quote from you. Such an honour!
It depends on the angle you see it from. Alot of immigrants are realising how difficult it is to raise children in the West. First, your generation will loose a greater part of their African identity and some parents do regret raising their children in the West. Suffice to say that raising your children here, they risk being white-washed and loosing important virtues such as family, respect for elders, community etc. which are very important to their core-identity and mental health. Secondly, a lot of parents are now contemplating if it is worth it to raise their children in an environment where they have the tendency and fear of being racialised right from childhood till their entire life. Whereas a person raised in Nigeria is sheltered away from racism or police brutality. One of the Nigerian family I met here suggest raising kids in Singapore. An environment where they can get good education and be sheltered away from racism and drugs.
In terms of good education and health care you can definitely get them in Nigeria. There are international standard school systems in Nigeria depending on your socio-economic status. Some of the high school educational system in Nigeria pay higher tuition fees than a Canadian university, annually. You are right in terms of security, as I mentioned earlier Nigeria has a big security problem than it seems.
The Western system is built based on "extractive principle". Their system will suck 80% from you, then give you 20%. It is important to consider and weigh all options carefully. Take US., for instance, only 10% of the elites in that country owns 77% of the country's wealth. This is a striking inequality that is worse off than Nigeria. These international schools sir, the BIS and Loyola Jesuits, the children of those who go there are people who don't intend for them to have Nigerian degrees. Trust me. The way they troop into our facility for medicals after A-levels. Reason am, my guy. These kids are not just Nigerians. They almost always have dual citizenship, or have the means to school abroad. |
