So also couldn’t El-Rufai have visited the SDP Headquarters and released pictures of it to the press just for the entertainment of Nigerians. He wasn’t up to something, he could have visited the SDP chairman in his private residence away from camera. So, it’s obvious El-Rufai has something up his sleeves.

It’s possible these two men might be running their businesses differently without any plan of coming together just as they might be planning something together in 2027.

So, should there be an Obi/El-Rufai ticket in 2027, how would you see it?

Daring the government to declare him wanted if it so wished, during the week, an unnamed militant, who communicated in Pidgin English, said the soldiers allowed some influential people to use them to repress the people of Okuama.

He claimed that the Okuama and Okoloba communities were indeed having a land dispute and connected Ijaw people who used the army to escort and carry out their crude oil business, betrayed their brothers.

He disclosed they used soldiers to ‘carry’ three people and slaughtered them, adding, “The day the soldiers were killed, they came to carry our community leaders, and the youth knew that once the community leaders were captured, they would be powerless.”

Three 🇺🇸 soldiers were killed and another was injured Friday when a National Guard helicopter crashed in Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border.

A UH-72 Lakota helicopter carrying three soldiers and a U.S. Border Patrol agent crashed around 2:50 p.m. local time while conducting operations near Rio Grande City, according to a news release from Joint Task Force North, based in Fort Bliss. The cause of the accident is under investigation, according to the release. A spokesman for the task force declined to comment on the condition of the injured soldier.

Joint Task Force North, which includes active and reserve military personnel, is tasked with supporting federal law enforcement agencies in stopping suspected criminal activities “within and along the approaches to the continental United States.”

The Starr County Sheriff’s Office earlier said in a short social media statement that it was assisting with a “downed helicopter incident,” possibly involving four occupants.

Breaking: FG to revoke DisCos license over poor power supply
Federal Government, on Wednesday, threatened to revoke the licenses of power Distribution Companies over persistent poor power supply across the country.


The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, made this known on Wednesday.

The minister, through his X handle, expressed that the Chief Executives of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, and the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria have been summoned to a crucial meeting to explain the current challenges faced nation.

“The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the worsening power supply in their respective regions and to collectively find lasting solutions,” he said.

He lamented the insufficient electricity distribution by the Discos, despite the generation companies, saying “The ministry has been exerting pressure on the Generating Companies to enhance their performance, resulting in a recent increase in generation to over 4000MW.

Despite this progress, certain distribution companies are failing to adequately distribute the power supplied by TCN, while vandalism of power infrastructure exacerbates the problem in regions such as Abuja, Benin, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan,”

He stated his commitment to hold all distribution companies accountable for their performance as “willful non-performance will not be tolerated, and severe consequences, including license revocation, may be imposed.”

He added, “Additionally, I have instructed TCN to prioritise repair works on damaged transmission towers and power lines to improve supply in affected regions. During recent supervisory visits to power-generating plants, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by the sector.

“Plans are underway to settle outstanding debts owed to power generation and gas supply companies, which will alleviate the financial strain and contribute to improved generation levels nationwide. I urge electricity consumers to remain patient as we work tirelessly to address these issues and provide better service to all Nigerians.”

I had earlier refrained from commenting on the launch of the Lagos Red Line because I believe that with such a dire economic situation, our people deserve something to cheer on and to remain hopeful. Unfortunately, the APC has turned what was supposed to be a people-centric project into political propaganda laced with misinformation and false narratives. Therefore, I’m compelled to set the record straight.

The fact is that the Lagos part of the standard gauge railway was first laid 125 years ago in 1898 from Lagos to Abeokuta before being extended to Kano. It remained a narrow gauge line from Iddo or Apapa to Agbado/Ijoko to Abeokuta for over a hundred years until the Jonathan Goodluck government in 2012 signed a contract with the Chinese to upgrade it to a standard gauge railway from Lagos to Ibadan.



Everything from lines to stations to signals and bridges or tunnels had been costed and paid for by the Jonathan Goodluck administration since 2013. Hence, the most significant contribution of the Lagos state government to this project is the purchase of 11-year-old abandoned railcars at undisclosed fees. To be fair also, they put in quite some work in project supervision and collaboration with the federal government. For this, they deserve some commendation.

Most importantly, citizens must realize that while it is important to acknowledge and even applaud transformational policy initiatives by the government, they must never forget that the government and the initiatives are funded by their taxes and commonwealth. They were elected to serve you and never to lord over you.
