One of the beneficiaries of #NotTooYoungToRun Bill Adesoji Gabriel (AngelGabby) who doubled as Fayemi's Mentee storms His Hometown, Visits his Ward Party leaders and gets Royal and grandparents Blessings.

Oba Adedara Emmanuel Okina ii commends AngelGabby for the rare bold steps and also assures him of Every support from the kingdom, stating that such step will encourage more youths not just in Ekiti but across the nation to follow suit.

Kabiesi laid emphasis on Ara-Ekiti being deprived of elective offices since time immemorial, that Gabby's decision to go for this House of Assembly will definitely put an end to thatu, as he has seen the commitments youth of the town has put into together, Saying that for the first time he will see PDP and APC youth working together harmoniously to achieve common goal, which is your project, it's heart warming and I welcome it.

Ekameta Ward where AngelGabby came from leader Oluyemi Kolawole Samuel welcome the homecoming of Gabby saying son of the soil, he stated that such brave move has always been traced to the Elejua's Family ( Gabby's ancestoral chieftaincy title).
Says Ekameta will support him, because youth are on revolutionary mission and we will support them amicably to make the transition easier.

AngelGabby appreciates the Kabiesi's warm reception and the ward Leader's Commendations repose confidence in the the APC Buhari led Federal government and Assures Kabiesi for better and brighter future the incoming Governor of Ekiti Dr. John Kayode Fayemi regime with bring.

Talking in the palace AngelGabby said "The isn't a contest between APC and PDP but a contest for all youth to be part and make a statement through his ambition. He Said like you all know apart from the disgrace that these outgoing members of the house has brought to us in Ekiti, you will agree with me that they are not representing us, talk more of representing our Constituency and Youth interest, I have come to give youth a face in the assembly, how can we have 56% of voting population and we can't have atleast someone to Echo our voice, he queried, The time is now to RESTORE OUR (YOUTH/Ijero Constituency and EKITI at large) Values.

Assures Kabiesi that he will be a good ambassador of the town, As he said that Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, who is his Mentor and Boss is a man of Honour, know for Academics Excellence, International recognition with high pedigree, Honest, cool and Responsible there is No way he will be anything different from him, Hence Kabiesi should just keep giving neccesary supports as he will make him proud.

Politics / Ekiti 2018: RCCG Sends Appreciation Letter To Fayose For Picking Deji Ogunsakin by sojiboy(m): 7:51pm On Jul 11, 2018
*Ekiti 2018: RCCG sends Appreciation Letter to Fayose for picking Deji Ogunsakin as Deputy Governorship Candidate*

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has thanked Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, for choosing one their active members as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP towards the Saturday 14 July 2018 Governorship election in Ekiti State.

The letter of appreciation was dated 2 July 2018/and signed by one Pastor Bayo Olugbemi on behalf of Victory Parish (My Fathers' House) of RCCG in Magodo Lagos.
The church noted that Deji Ogunsakin was not only a very active member, but a committed worker in the church.
The RCCG letter may have put a lie to the initial impression created by the Ekiti PDP that Mr. Ogunsakin was a practising Muslim

Though born a Muslim Mr. Ogunsakin got converted baptized into Christianity and has since been a member of the RCCG family.

The letter reads in part: "Following the selection of our member, Mr. Deji Ogunsakin, as the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate for Ekiti State by your Excellency, the entire members and Pastorate of the RCCG, Victory Chapel (My Father's House), Magodo Lagos appreciate the good gesture of the People's Governor, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose."

"You will recall the church prayed earnestly after Your Excellency consulted our parish about your desire to choose our member and your candid request for the Parish to do background checks on brother Deji Ogunsakin."

"It's also pertinent to correct the impression from some quarters in Ekiti that our brother, though born by Moslem parentage, is not a Moslem but a practicing Christian who gave his life to Christ and was duly baptized according to the doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church and as laid down by our General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye."

"This clarification became necessary to safeguard the family of our brother, especially his wife who feels the family faith and religious association are being ridiculed because of politics. She consequently appealed to our church to put the records straight to the public that herself, husband, Mr. Deji Ogunsakin and children are not Moslems but Christians."

Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Ekiti State, Sheik Jamiu Kewulere has urged some selected Muslim clerics to organise a special prayer for the success of Prof. Eleka and Deji Ogunsakin towards the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

A source who prefers anonymity said that the Chief Imam asked them to organise the special Islamic prayer for Deji Ogunsakin and forward the video coverage of the prayer to him separately.

Politics / No Plan To Sack Teachers, Says Fayemi by sojiboy(m): 9:48pm On Jul 02, 2018
No Plan To Sack Teachers, Says Fayemi

... As APC Candidate Parleys Workers, Artisans, Others

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has allayed fears over rumour that he plans to sack workers, saying that as a worker-friendly leader, he will never pursue policies that will cost Ekiti people their livelihoods.

He made the clarification on Monday at interactive sessions with religious associations, Timber Traders Organisation, Tippers Owners/Drivers Association, NLC, NUT and artisans, among other groups. They in turn pledged their support for him in the July 14 election.

At interactive meetings in various sessions in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, they said the confidence they had in Fayemi informed their decision to join in the interactive sessions to listen to his campaign messages and present their own demands.

Timbers association members thanked the APC candidate for the right environment he created for their business between 2010 and 2014 when Fayemi was governor, saying that the gesture informed their decision to support him.

They also thanked him for donating a bus to them as a mark of recognition, regretting, however, that the present administration of Governor Ayodele Fayose punished them for supporting Fayemi in 2014.

They vowed to support Fayemi despite victimisation, even as the association warned members not to submit their voter cards to the Government House as allegedly being demanded by the governor.

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) emphasised on security in the state and across Nigeria, saying that security must be guaranteed to create friendly atmosphere for peace to reign and thanked Fayemi for donating a bus to the association.

They said that  the governorship election must be seen as a collective project irrespective of political differences to ensure peace and progress for Ekiti State.

Fayemi said he was an apostle of security and peace, including the security of jobs, which is the most important aspects of security for development.

He promised to resuscitate youth agricultural scheme (YCAD), traffic management service, Fire Service, ambulance service and ensure regular payment of salary, adding that he raised salary three times in four years to ensure welfare of workers and keep peace and security in the state.

Explaining that he never advocated creation of cattle colony in Ekiti State, Fayemi said herdsmen's crisis is not about  Christian or Muslim but a crime that must be punished according to the law,  regretting that the security measures he put in place in the cattle-rearing zone at Iyemero and Oke-Ako to maintain peace while he was governor was summarily cancelled by Governor Ayodele Fayose who, he said, was over-dramatising herdsmen's activities in the state.

He regretted infrastructure deficit in the state, citing Ado-Ekiti road contract from Ado end to Iju-Itagbolu end he awarded and paid for but was cancelled by Fayose and diverted elsewhere.

At the session with NLC, the workers' association led by Ade Adesanmi appreciated Fayemi for his landmark achievements during his first term.

The union demanded for Fayemi's explanations on rumours that he will sack workers when elected.

Fayemi said he had always been a worker-friendly governor, having increased their salary three times in four years and paid relativity package while 25 per cent for rural posting and core subjects allowances were also paid and was the first governor to pay special salary to health workers while also pensioners' benefits were also increased, including introducing biometric salary payment that eased burden of salary payment system.

Noting that he was the most generous governor to teachers and workers in general, he said he never sacked a single worker but engaged doctors, teachers, civil servants and moved teachers in local government to where they could do better  professionally to advance their careers.

He said he paid the highest Christmas bonus, adding that there was no governor that provided in-house and overseas training for workers than him.

He admitted that like in other systems, there might have been issues that didn't go down well with many people, but said resolving the issue is what is important as a receptive leader.

He apologised for taking decisions that might have hurt at individual level, saying, however, that misinterpretation of policies created some of the misgivings between the government and workers.

He cited teachers' assessment scheme that was misunderstood as an assessment examination to demote, sack or promote teachers, explaining that the policy was to develop a programme that would assist them in their capacity building through seminars and workshops.

He denounced insinuations that he he was coming back to the government to take revenge, explaining that were he to take revenge, he would have done so in the remaining three months of his administration after his election, adding that he would have also  denied workers their salaries as a revenge.

Explaining that he was never engaged as a consultant by Kaduna State government to sack teachers, Fayemi emphasised the importance of communication, saying he was an advocate of genuine communication between workers and government for good working relationship and security of their job tenure.

He said he believed that government is a continuum, explaining that this was responsible for the completion of Governor Segun Oni's projects, adding that in all the  133 communities his visited during his campaign tours, there was no community he could not point to four projects.

He promised to make the welfare of workers a priority, saying that would be possible through sourcing from other alternative sources of income outside federal allocations.

He also said he was in vantage position to attract federal support for adequate funding of development projects, citing anchor grower scheme and school feeding programme in which 15 states benefitted, including PDP states, regretting that Ekiti State did not benefit because of bad politics the governor was playing.

He explained that he sought to come back as governor to make hunger history in Ekiti State, stressing that the mission is a collective responsibility for accountability and better conditions of living.

He added that he took N25b bond to be defrayed in seven years, saying that before he left office, he had paid back N14.5b. He said if the repayment protocol had been sustained, full repayment would have completed in December 2018.

Citing the clearance of pensions and other entitlements that were unpaid by his predecessor,  Fayemi  promised to also clear all salary arrears within six months after assumption of office.

He added that the state had no business owing salaries, explaining that intervention funds, such as bailout and budget support facility, were enough to pay workers.

He also said he would not embark on stomach infrastructure that will not put food in the stomach or basic infrastructure in the state.

Muslim organisation thanked Fayemi for counting them worthy in his first term and sought further recognition for both Muslim men and women in government, saying that such would create harmonious relationship for peace to reign.

At a session with the artisans, Deputy Director General of Kayode Fayemi  Campaign Organisation, Bamidele Faparusi, urged them to vote against poverty and neglect, assuring that Fayemi will give them adequate recognition if elected.

'Fayose Behind Fayemi's Alleged Anti-Tinubu's Comment'

The JKF Campaign Office has reacted to the purported comment by Erelu Bisi Fayemi to the effect that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was alleged to be behind the alleged plot to kill the APC governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in the weekend shooting incident in Ado-Ekiti that hit a former member of the House of Assembly, Opeyemi Bamidele.
In a story trending on the social media since Saturday , Erelu Fayemi was mischievously quoted to have said:

"I know where the attack of yesterday came from.  The policeman who fired the shots came from Lagos illegally and I know the man who is charge of Lagos.

"Asiwaju never wanted my husband as candidate for Ekiti election and he demonsted that by supporting Chief Segun Oni.

"Segun Oni,  the candidate of the Lord of Lagos came second behind my husband and if they had succeeded with their plot to kill my husband yesterday,  their candidate would have been the beneficiary because it is only when a candidate dies that he can be replaced.

"But their plans to adopt the Abubakar Audu of Kogi State option here in Ekiti will fail."

The JKF Campaign Office wishes to say that the Fayemis are familiar with this kind of propaganda couched in reckless lies to set prominent Nigerians against the family, including painting the family black to suffer public ridicule.
We know that Governor Ayodele Fayose and his co-called media men traffick in this kind of dangerous lies to smear the image and reputation of innocent people.
This is the same way Fayose's media aide cloned an online publication to concoct a purported interview in a press conference in Lagos where the innocent Erelu Fayemi was criminally quoted as having described Ekiti people as a colony of hungry people even though the woman was no where near Nigeria when she purportedly granted the interview in Lagos.
The same way the same media aide wrote in 2009 that he saw a dead body hanging on a tree in Fayemi's compound in Isan-Ekiti even though there was no single tree standing in the expansive compound.
We would not have reacted to this cheap lie by a fraudulent administration that wishes to succeed itself by lying against the man that Ekiti people want to lead them to have peace and prosperity back again in Ekiti, but our reaction is necessary so that a lie told too often is not construed as the truth.
At no time did Erelu Fayemi speak against Asiwaju Tinubu who is highly respected in the Fayemi family. Erelu Bisi Fayemi never made that comment and under no circumstance will she make that comment because she has a background of integrity to imbibe leadership values of discipline, respect, moderation and restraint incongruous with the allegations raised against her by Fayose's crooked media men notorious for spreading dangerous lies in the media.
There is no reason whatsoever to make such comment, but we know that Fayose will stop at nothing to discredit the Fayemis to gain fraudulent support of the people in order to hold on to the reins of power in Ekiti State that he has turned to a trading post.
We know that Fayose has hit his largest and biggest jackpot in Ekiti State and he is not willing to let go that treasure that is so dear to him so that he can continue to enjoy his life in opulence while Ekiti people suffer.
His plot is to do maximum damage to the character and integrity of the Fayemis so that his crony can win the July 14 election to enable him continue his hold on the state's treasury.
We enjoin Nigerians and peoples of the world to ignore Fayose's devious plot to set Asiwaju Tinubu against the Fayemis who are leading the current rescue mission to save Ekiti people from the heartless and fraudulent administration that wants to perpetuate poverty in Ekiti State while its depraved leader and his family live in affluence.

Politics / If Not Fayemi, Who Else? by sojiboy(m): 10:46am On Apr 25, 2018
If not Fayemi, who else?
By Sunday A. Aniyi
Democracy thrives on mass participation, equal opportunity and unfettered access. It is therefore trite that the right to contest election by any citizen can only be abridged by a valid order of a court of record. As elementary as this seems to be, many anti-democratic elements, or, if you like, pseudo-democrats have embarked on the most repulsive, if not obnoxious, campaign to abrogate the right of Dr Kayode Fayemi to contest as a freeborn, in a country he spent his youthful years fighting for, when many of his current traducers were nowhere to be found in the trenches when it mattered.
The “don’t contest” sloganeers anchor their thesis on a faulty hypothesis that Dr Kayode Fayemi is an “offensive” political brand that can’t win election in Ekiti. They buttressed this ridiculous fallacy with the inglorious outcome of the now less-than-credible election of June 21, 2014. They mock derisively, what they termed 16-0! As far as these funny analysts/haters are concerned, the only mountain standing between APC and victory in July, if the election holds as scheduled, is the participation of Fayemi in the election and to cure this fallacy, is for Fayemi to stay away from contesting or supporting a candidate. Ironically, almost all the candidates would wish they have him behind them.
Now, it would be stupid to live in self-denial of the fact that many people outside the party also strongly hold this view. In fact, there is a school of thought that believes Fayemi should live Ekiti for it anti-development politics of wine and dine, alias stomach infrastructure. This writer belonged in this group, until recently. There are genuine friends who feel that God has more than compensated JKF with his towering political influence within the polity at all levels. They believe Ekiti is not really worth it as he is better served and satisfied as a minister of the federal republic where his astuteness can be better appreciated.
This group is largely made up of concerned friends who believe the outcome of 2014 was an enlightening referendum on the values of the typical Ekiti electorate. They believe that reform-minded and modern thinkers like Fayemi could hardly survive in a state where the narrative is still largely about fruits and not trees that bear the fruits; where shadow is longer than substance and theatrics the order of the day.
However, the argument and the conviction of Fayemi have been that the outcome of that election had little to do with the Ekiti people as anti-modernists. He believes, and stubbornly too, that the Ekiti people are sophisticated, educated and progressive in orientation to reject development and untainted public service. He obdurately holds to the conviction that the outcome of the election is a faulty data on the electoral behavior of Ekiti people. He argues vehemently that if there was any usefulness to the election, it was that it provided an insight into how democratic process could be subverted by an organized electoral pirates who worked to enthrone a regime of anomie in pursuit of a Hobbesian fiefdom that Ekiti has become. He, therefore, believes that given another context of electoral contest, the Ekiti that he knows values brilliance, character, intelligence, diligence and service. He is therefore running to prove the pundits wrong.
As simple as this seems, an army of internal opposition has risen within the party. From one media house to another, the only singsong has been “anyone but Fayemi”. They are determined to ensure that their Joseph won’t redeem his dream. Depending on whom a person is supporting, there is a narrative out there that JKF is the one that would deny APC victory by participating in the primary election. This set of people seemed to have concluded that contesting against him within APC is an academic exercise that leads to a redundant outcome. They know, even when they lie to themselves, that Fayemi holds the ace in the party. He has remained the major financial of the party and its visible patron. Being the last major office holder within the party, he remains the one with the highest command of loyal followings within the party. He has an unrivaled visibility, political capital, influence (within and outside the state) and name currency among the gladiators. Worst still, most of those competing against him or supporting them, were people who rode on his back to land their political breakthroughs. Thus, they are intimidated by his sheer imposing political credentials. This reality seems to be running some distressed, defeated and disoriented before the race ever kicks off. They are running amok. They are running gaga. They are running silly. One must therefore has a generosity of introspect to understand their frustration.
One can therefore ask as to what is the basis for the false narrative that anybody else can be governor, except JKF? Who are the so-called better candidates and what is their electoral pedigrees? Who among the so-called “popular” candidates have won election in Ekiti before? Let us randomly interrogate some of the notable challengers and their pedigrees. This is without prejudice to their persons. This is not an attempt at de-marketing; it is an objective assessment of the available data as of now. Indeed, the people here are well qualified and capable to do the job competently. What is at debate here is what evidence of previous electoral standings make them more popular than JKF as currently but dubiously being mainstreamed in the polity.
Chief Segun is perhaps the one that enjoys the bliss of positive electoral valuation by some self-appointed political auditors. They have robed him in fine lines and saintly cassock, and garlanded him with the diadem of unrivaled electoral solvency. But this is as fraudulent as it comes. To start with, Chief Segun Oni, a successful engineer and a perfect gentleman has the unenviable record of consistent electoral misfortunes. He came third in the 2006 primary that he contested with Yinka Akerele and Professor Segun Ojo. Well, it took the magical wand of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to rig him in shamelessly, by imposition. He went further to be the beneficiary of the historically unforgettable electoral heist that has never been seen anywhere else in this nation. The 2007 governorship election was rigged in his favour and it took a harrowing three years of judiciary inquisitions before he was duly removed. To his credit, he did majestically well in some respects, especially in education and road construction. Ironically, he also had some of the worst record of leaving Ado-Ekiti with dilapidated roads and school unrest in UNAD and College of Education, Ikere. So, where is the basis for the current romaniticisation coming from? If Oni who lost election and fraudulently rigged same could be accepted, why is Fayemi’s gentlemanly loss of 2014 election a big deal?
Another person whose supporters has promoted as being the crown prince is Senator Babafemi Ojudu. He is a fine gentleman, a veteran journalist and a die-in-the wood human rights activist. As a senator, he did well in his job. Sadly, he was generally misunderstood, hated and derided then. He was grossly unpopular among party members and the general public. I listened to many party members complain to no end that he was one the problems of Fayemi. It was thought that the public transferred the aggression against him to Fayemi who was not going to replace him if the latter had won in 2014. Senator Ojudu acted contrary to his known boldness and courage in 2015 when he declined to seek a re-election to the senate. He took this wise decision because he had been consistently booed at public rallies by party members, thus, he was very honest with himself to have withdrawn from the contest. Therefore, what is the basis for anybody to say Fayemi is unpopular and therefore should not contest or be given the party ticket but that Ojudu can win for the party? How is Senator Ojudu more popular than JKF? The election that took him to the senate was conducted when JKF was governor. Without any prejudice to his reputation, as he also came well recommended, it is a fact that Fayemi won that election for him. I can’t understand how he is now the rose and Fayemi, the thorn!
Let us take Hons. Opeyemi Bamidele and Bimbo Daramola together. In the case of Hon. Bamidele, he fought a gruel electoral battle to prove he was more preferred than Fayemi. In spite of all appeals to him, he refused and contested on another platform. He was sincerely convinced that he was more popular than JKF. Well, the available record as at today remains that he had 18,000+ votes while Fayemi had 120,000+ at the end of that contest. What has changed since? It is noteworthy to recall that the votes from two LGAs he represented that took him to Abuja when he had Fayemi’s backing was almost 60,000.
Meanwhile, the highly charismatic Congressman Bimbo Daramola was the Director General of JKF 2014. He lost in his ward and LGA. The general reality of this loss was because of military invasion and electoral manipulation. Today, the DG who couldn’t secure a win in his community that he served honestly by donating a cottage hospital among others, also believe he is popular enough to win for APC, even though he also lost to return to the House of Reps in 2015. Now, if all these people all lost elections and are contesting to test their strength, why is a JKF contesting so contentious and objected to?
As a matter of fact, many of those campaigning against Fayemi and claiming he is not fit to contest election, because of a convoluted 16-0 also lost elections to return to House of Assembly, House of Reps and the Senate! Interestingly, their election came eight months after JKF had lost. The same electorate who rejected Fayemi also rejected them and there is no evidence to show that the electorate were stupid or blind not to know the difference.
Indeed, the incumbent governor, Mr Ayo Fayose lost a senatorial election in 2011 to Senator Ojudu. When he came out in 2014, we mocked him that a man who couldn’t win a senatorial election wanted to return to a sit he had to run away from. Fayose, as at 2013 was a persona no grata in Ekiti. In fact, his ward chairman refused to reregister him into the PDP. Other candidates ganged up against him and called for a consensus, he requested for a primary. Somehow, the man who was having multiple charges of murder, conspiracy, embezzlement, money laundering etc. was voted as governor and currently in office
So, what has Fayemi done that is worse than what all politicians are accused of? Is he the first to lose election and stage a comeback? Did Buhari not lose three times before a win? Did Kwankwaso not fail to win a second term but later re-contested and won? Was Akeredolu not called electoral invalid and a political bad weather? The PDP mocked him in the most derisive contempt as “customer daada ni”. Today, he is the governor. They now know better that no man is God to speak with finality on the future of another man.
Furthermore, should any of the contestants gets the party ticket today, the JKF achievements as governor remain the major posters to sell? After all, even his harshest critics attest he remains unrivalled in terms of policy and program execution. His performance has never been the issue but some personal shortcomings.
So, why not Fayemi? If not Fayemi, who else?

Politics / Who Is Scared Of Fayemi by sojiboy(m): 9:22am On Apr 19, 2018
It is wrong to use immoral means to attain moral ends and it is just as wrong, or even more so, to use moral means to preserve immoral ends. Members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State are currently working at cross-purposes.
This may spell doom for the party and lead to another abysmal outcome in the forthcoming governorship election in the state. The APC in Ekiti state is blessed with all shades of characters, out of which about forty (40) individuals have shown or declared interest in contesting the primary election of the party, to choose its flag bearer.
The fact that APC has this array of eminently qualified personalities vying to fly the flag of the party is an impressive blessing. Unfortunately the APC in Ekiti state seems to be at a loss on how best to manage this blessing. There is nothing wrong in having many aspirants within a party. It’s absolutely good and healthy for the party members to be presented with various options to pick from.
However, it is absurd, barbaric and counterproductive for the various aspirants for the party’s ticket to engage in or encourage campaign of calumny against one another. Unless something is done quickly to caution the gladiators and tame some foot soldiers (attack dogs) of the aspirants, the party will move towards imminent but avoidable implosion and perdition in Ekiti State.
There is urgent need for a paradigm shift for the aspirants and their foot soldiers. Rather than talking about their common enemy (the PDP) and / or programs of their principals, majority of party faithful derive pleasure in talking negatively about other aspirant(s) perceived to be the threat to their principals’ ambition. The focus was on Chief Segun Oni at a time.
There was nothing they didn’t say about the man before and after his official declaration. At different times, Senator Gbenga Aluko, Rt. Hon. Femi Bamishile, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and others were at the receiving ends of the unnecessary and fruitless attacks. Dr. Kayode Fayemi is currently at the center of the storm.
He has not been spared for a moment since the news of his anticipated declaration broke out. It is worrisome that the APC members could devote so much precious time, energy and resources to destroy and decimate fellow aspirants within the same party. If by sheer luck you win the primaries and pick the ticket, do you expect those you (or your proxy) have decimated to rally round you at the general election? If providence gives the person you (or your proxy) decimated victory, how would you come out to market and campaign for such person?
In the build up to the 2016 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the state APC experienced something similar to what is currently going in Ekiti state. Some of the aspirants were at each other’s neck. The foot soldiers of various camps engaged in whatever means (right or wrong) to market and promote their principals. The present Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was one of the most widely criticized aspirants during the campaign for the Ondo state APC primary in 2016.
The campaign of calumny against him was so high that at a time he was not rated among the three top likely winners of the primary. However, before things got out of hands the aspirants came together under the name of “APC Aspirants Forum” and with the backing of the party leaders in the state, called all camps to order.
Where there is no law, there is no crime! The Ondo state APC and the aspirants collectively signed an MOU with strong warning that no party member must engage in campaign of calumny or disparage any aspirant. The focus of each camp then was on the common enemy (the PDP) and what you are bringing on board (your program) as an aspirant.
This helped to restore sanity to some levels because “at his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice he is the worst.” This is one major reason all the aspirants congratulated the eventual winner of the Ondo state APC primary election, immediately he was proclaimed winner. Though one or two later recanted and withdrew their congratulatory messages.
Someone said there is nothing progressive about the APC. As libelous as this may sound, the attitude of the party faithful is giving credence to that assertion, as currently seen in Ekiti State. It is a common knowledge that the PDP-led government in Ekiti state have left no stone unturned in its quest to discredit and rubbish Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his government.
There is nothing new about the antics of the PDP. As a matter of fact it should be expected. What’s disheartening however is the attitude of the APC toward the incessant attack on Fayemi. I am yet to see where Prince Dayo Adeyeye, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Dr. Dare Bejide and Barr. Owoseni Ajayi or their supporters openly castigate Dr. Fayemi or celebrate his persecution by the state government. Unfortunately where or when people celebrate, promote or publicize the persecution of Dr. Fayemi you will always find APC members at the forefront.
Dr. Kayode Fayemi seems to be enjoying free publicity at the moment because some aspirants (and their followers) talk about him more than their agenda for Ekitikete. Imagine about thirty (30) different camps (aspirants and followers) talking about an aspiring aspirant across the length and breadth of Ekiti state simultaneously. His posters were torn and defaced within twenty-four hours they were pasted whereas some posters have been out unnoticed and untouched for months!! Who is afraid of Fayemi?
Those who are not publicizing or celebrating Fayemi’s persecution are also guilty of keeping quiet when they should be speaking out to defend him. How can we call ourselves progressives if we can’t defend our own. You may not like Fayemi, you don’t have to like him, but the fact remains that he was an APC governor and currently an APC minister. An attack on him is an attack on the APC family, especially in Ekiti state. We should not allow personal ambition to becloud our sense of reasoning. We should be progressive in thoughts and deeds.
APC lost to the PDP in 2014 because as at the time the election came up, the APC in Ekiti state was in total disarray. Even though Fayemi was the governor then, a tree does not make a forest. We should be together in victory or loss. I am sure, had it been he won the election, most of the negative stories being said about him now may not surface.
Therefore rather than trading blames and polarizing the party further, we should work on how to unite the party. There is no aspirant on the field today that can singlehandedly defeat the PDP without the support of the other aspirants. If you win the primary by disparaging other aspirants, can you win the general election alone? The youths should wake up to their responsibilities because they are the biggest losers, should APC lose to the PDP this year.
As at today, without prejudice to other aspirants, there are three major camps viz: Kayode Fayemi, Segun Oni and others within the Ekiti state APC. Dr. Kayode Fayemi, like most of the other aspirants, have little or nothing to lose, should APC lose to the PDP. The losers are the common party faithful who have been in the cold for four years.
Can they afford the cold for another four years? This is another reason we should stop taunting anybody that he or she can’t win general election. The combined strength of these various camps is enough to dislodge the PDP but can the camps ever work together? They have no choice. They either work and stand together or sink separately.
Whoever is good enough to win the primary can as well win the general election if, and only if, the other aspirants put the interest of the party above personal interest and rally round him for the good of all. However, where personal interest override party’s interest, what happened in Ondo state may repeat itself in Ekiti state. In Ondo state, leaders (national and state) openly worked against the party’s interest but in the end, the common interest prevailed. Unfortunately in Ekiti state we don’t have a Jimoh Ibrahim to do the hatchet job for us.
Therefore, we must approach the battle united or else our loss at the poll will signify direct entry to perdition for Ekiti state APC. If Fayemi (or any other aspirant) wins the primary and the other camps refuse to support and work for his victory at the gubernatorial election as being touted in some quarters, thereby leading to another success for the PDP. The biggest loser wouldn’t be Fayemi but the Ekiti state APC and the common man that wants or desires change.
The leaders (national and state) should call all aspirants and their followers to order. The intraparty wrangling must end. Each time you disparage an aspirant you are indirectly putting the APC at a disadvantage should the person you are disparaging win the primary. You are equally hurting the APC the more because the person you disparaged may not support you at the general election, should you win the primary.
The more the merrier. You should focus on your aspirant and his ambition and leave the other aspirants alone. If you are not sure your aspirant can win the primary don’t invest your energy on destroying another aspirant whose chance intimidates yours. Let’s act and work together like real progressives, if indeed we are progressives. Your personal interest, aspiration and ambition shouldn’t jeopardize the party’s success. May the best man win the primary of the APC and may the wish of God prevail in Ekiti state.
United we stand, divided we fall.

Politics / Re: Why Does Kayode Fayemi Want To Be Governor Again? by sojiboy(m): 9:11am On Apr 19, 2018
The Conference of Nigeria’s Political Parties (CNPP) in Ekiti State has showered encomiums on the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, who is also former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, over his “sterling performance” in the Solid Minerals Ministry as attested to by President Muhammadu Buhari in his 2018 budget speech.

It said the attestation to Fayemi’s performance in the Mines and Steel Ministry to the growth of Nigeria’s economy is both historic and historical.

It said Fayemi’s hard work and vision derived from the collective vision of President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) propelled the minister to deploy his energies and staff towards the feats achieved to revamp the economy for the welfare of Nigerians.

Buhari had at his 2018 budget presentation on Tuesday at a joint sitting of the National Assembly singled out Fayemi for praise in driving his ministry towards successful take-off of economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government, citing the increase in solid minerals earnings from N700m to above N2b under the minister to the national economy.

In a statement after their emergency meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, Chairman of the conference, Prince Tunji Ogunlola, said Fayemi’s sterling performance as attested to earlier by the Senate Committee of Mines and Steel that applauded Fayemi’s hard work and transparency in the economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government, was a testimony of a man driven by passion to achieve his missions.

“The mining and steel sector, which is a viable alternative to oil, has remained untapped over the years until Dr. Fayemi took charge of the sector and turned it around, thereby making the dream of making the sector an alternative to oil, a reality.

“From a paltry contribution of N700 million to the national purse before he took charge, Fayemi worked hard day and night with his men to contribute N2billion within one year, making it one of the highest sectoral contributors to the economy, apart from oil.

“No wonder that the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Senator James Manager, described Dr. Fayemi as a man of vision who despite the challenges in the sector had taken the sector to higher level.”

Extolling Fayemi’s qualities, Ogunlola added:

“We are not surprised about the performance of Dr. Fayemi in the sector because he had earlier demonstrated his leadership and managerial abilities as Governor of Ekiti State by turning the state to huge construction and rehabilitation sites with projects in all towns and villages across the state.

“This is apart from his life-lifting programmes, such as the social security for the elderly people where about 25,000 elders received a monthly stipend of N5,000 each; Youth Volunteers Scheme for unemployed youths; Youths in Commercial Agriculture Development (YCAD); the Food Bank Scheme; Ekiti State Transport Management Agency; Conditional Cash Transfer; and the State-Assisted Community Projects, renovation of all schools and hospitals including regular payment of salaries and allowances, all that contributed in making the state’s economy active while he was governor.

“Like he is doing in the mineral sector and Ajaokuta Steel Complex at the Federal level, Fayemi as governor also initiated legacy projects, such as the Ikogosi Warm Springs, the Ekitiparapo Pavilion, resuscitation of Ire Burnt Bricks and moribund Igbemo Asphalt Plant, among others, to rejuvenate the state’s economy.

“For Fayemi’s history of hard work, integrity and honesty, N30b intervention fund was approved for the sector by the Natural Resources Development Fund and this is the first in the history of the sector and it is a testimony that Fayemi is a trusted expert to drive Nigeria’s diversified economy in which the non oil sector will be playing a pivotal role.

“We are proud of Dr. Fayemi’s enviable achievements as an outstanding performer in the Federal Executive Council and as a pride of Ekiti people

Politics / Fayemi Declares Interest In Ekiti Guber Race by sojiboy(m): 10:27am On Apr 01, 2018
PRESS RELEASE

Fayemi declares interest in Ekiti Guber race

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr kayode Fayemi, on Saturday declared interest

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr kayode Fayemi has declared interest in contesting the july 14, governorship election in the Ekiti State.

Dr Fayemi who was Governor of Ekiti State between 2010 and 2014, told journalists in an interview at his  Ishan Ekiti country home on Saturday that he would follow due process, starting a formal notification of his intention to the leadership of the APC and  the state secretariat of the party.

This he said would be followed by a public declaration rally at a date to be announced.

“Yes, I will run for the governorship of our state. As a leader of the party, I am going to follow the due process as laid down by our party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This include formal notification of the leadership of the party, presentation of letter of intent at the state secretariat and a public declaration.”

Dr Fayemi said he was aware of various speculations about whether he would run for the governorship or not. He, however said that, with the last week release of guidelines and time table for the July election, the right time for him to make a formal declaration and join the race has come.

He said the state government’s controversial White Paper could not stop him from contesting the governorship election, as designed by the PDP government.

INEC has scheduled April 15th for the commencement of electioneering process for the July election.

Earlier, the Minister had addressed a mammoth crowd of party leaders from all the 177 wards of the state at the APC leaders meeting held in Ishan Ekiti, where he urged them to be united in the battle to unseat the incumbent PDP-led government.

State Chairman of the party, High Chief Jide Awe, deputy chairman, Chief (Mrs) Kemi Olaleye; State Secretary, Barrister Paul Omotosho led other state, local government and ward  executives as well as elders of the party to the quarterly meeting.

Saying that the huge number of aspirants jostling for the APC ticket was a good development for the party, Dr Fayemi urged all aspirants and their supporters to pursue their ambitions in a very decent manner, emphasising their credentials and plans to lift the state from its present state.

He said it was obvious the PDP-led government in Ekiti was bereft of ideas and does not have anything good to offer the citizens of the state, stressing that the July 14 election would be an opportunity to halt the brigandage and maladministration going on in the state.

Apparently referring to his formal presentation of letter of intent, Fayemi had told the cheering crowd of his plan in the coming weeks to visit the party secretariat to commence the process.  “I will come to the party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti and do the needful.

He said while the the new APC government in the state would restore all the local Council Development areas (LCDAs) created by the his administration, and which was cancelled by the PDP government.

“Our people clamoured for the creation of these LCDAs and they were created for them. But the PDP cancelled all of them. I can assure you all, the new APC government would restore your LCDAs because that is what the people want.

National Human Rights Commission Adjourns Sitting from Lagos to Abuja; Ekiti State Govt, PDP not ready

The National Human Rights Commission Public hearing about  hate speech and pre election violence petitions submitted by the Ekiti APC in 2015 has adjourned sitting from Lagos to Abuja on a date to be communicated to both parties.

The adjournment became necessary as the commission acceded to the request of the respondents' counsel who also doubles as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Ekiti State, Barrister Kolade Kolapo.

He told the commission that he was not the AG when the issues came up so he was not familiar with facts of the case and  has  not seen the respondent and petitioner, the Governor in the last one week. He wanted to confer with the governor  to know if he would  come personally or send witnesses.

He thereby sought for  adjournment of the matters to help him get the facts of the matter and study the depositions of the petitioners' witnesses who were present in court. The commission suggested that the depositions of witnesses already filed at the commission and served on the respondents should be adopted while the respondents can thereafter do cross examination at the next sitting in Abuja but the counsel the the respondent pleaded with the commission for adjournment.
The APC in Ekiti State between February and April 2014 wrote series of petitions to the commission alleging Governor Ayodele Fayose as the chief sponsor of many attacks on party members in many towns across the state before the Presidential, State and National Assemblies elections. Many towns were raised by suspected Fayose thugs with many members beaten, harassed and maimed while there were shootings in the towns, driving many members of the opposition out of town. This was allegedly done in connivance with the then State Commissioner of Police (now AIG) Taiwo Lakanu who is also a respondent at the hearing. On the other hand, Governor Fayose also wrote a petition alleging the APC of killing one Olaiya Modupe at Itawure junction. In all, APC had three petitions while Governor Fayose had one.

Those present in court were APC witnesses including the APC chairman Ch. Olajide Awe whille the Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Segun Adewumi who was alleged of pre election violence in Erijiyan Ekiti was also present.

The petitions have been narrowed down to three main petitions by the National Human Right Commission after its first sitting in Ekiti on April 26 and 27, 2017 where victims of pre election violence gave evidence against Governor Fayose and the PDP.

1. Alleged Pre Election Violence

Ambassador Gbenga Olofin (Deceased)

 Vs

Ayodele Fayose

The case was struck out because the petitioner is deceased and there is no way a deposition can be made for a deceased person. It is also difficult to have witnesses. Though the case was struck out by the commission, it is still in the office of the IGP.

2. Alleged sponsors of pre-election Violence in Ekiti State

Omotoso Ayodele Paul and 47 others-(Petitioners)

Vs

Ayodele Fayose-Respondent

Taiwo Lakanu (AIG)- Respondent

Segun Adewumi- Respondent

Boluwade Adewumi-Respondent

Counsels to the APC, Biodun Fasakin and Tajudeen Akingbolu brought 18 witnesses out of which 13 had depositions on oath and were ready to proceed with the hearing but counsel to the respondents, Kolade Kolapo sought for adjournment to enable him get familiar with facts of the case as he was newly appointed the Attorney -General.

For fair hearing, the commission granted the request of the respondents and adjourned hearing of the matter to Abuja in a date to be communicated to both parties.

 3. Alleged sponsor of pre-election violence in Erijiyan-Ekiti

Omotoso Ayodele Paul- Petitioner

Vs

PDP-Respondent

Ayodele Fayose- Respondent

Segun Adewumi- Respondent

Boluwade Adewumi-Respondent

Eight  witnesses were brought to the hearing with five having statements on oath. Respondents counsel confirmed he has been served but inside the court so like the other matters mentioned before, he had no time to study the depositions. He again sought for adjournment and was granted promising to file his response on time after he might have consulted with his clients especially Governor Fayose.

The commission's counsel, Kabiru said since the complaint was addressed to the office of the Inspector General of Police, the commission should ask the office of IGP to furnish the panel about what is being done about the matter to which the respondents' counsel raised no objection. The matter was adjourned to Abuja and the parties will be duly notified.

4. Alleged murder of Modupe Olaiya

Ayodele Fayose- Petitioner

Vs

APC-Respondent

The respondents brought two witnesses with their statements on oath which has been served on the petitioner. counsel to the petitioner said he has not been briefed by the petitioner, Governor Fayose about facts of the matter as he was appointed as AG not long ago and the processes had not been served on him. The respondent's counsel disagreed because the process has long been served on the petitioner through the office of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State. Counsel to the petitioner said the service was on the wrong person who was not a party to the case as the rules of the commission states that the petitioner must be served personally or in the alternative, through the Attorney General of the state but non of this was done. Kolade then asked for adjournment of the matter to enable him confer with the petitioner and be abreast of the rules of the commission which was just availed him at the court hearing.

Counsel to the respondents asked the commission to either strike out the petition or if it must adjourne the case, to impose a fine of N1m on the petitioner for not being prepared despite being the petitioner in this particular matter and for wasting the time of the panel.

NHRC Counsel said the matter is already before the office of the DIG, criminal Intelligence to oblige the commission with a report on the matter.

The commission adjourned the matter to Abuja without imposing any fine on the petitioner.

The  National Human Rights Commission Public Hearing on Complaints on Hate Speeches And Election Related Violence (South West) sat in Lagos from Monday March 26 to Wednesday March 28. Secretary designate to the commission and chairman of the panel, Tony Njoku said all cases of hate speech and election violence shall be investigated and perpetrators will be prosecuted. The Public Hearing is  about complaints received since 2015 elections from Ekiti State.  All sides shall be given fair hearing while those indicted shall be recommended to either the  AGF or the Attorney General of that state for prosecution after conclusion of proceedings.

Njoku said a register has been opened where names of hate speech makers and perpetrators of election violence will be written as a reference point for historians and researchers.

Politics / Reps Appropriated N2billion For Ajaokuta Concessioning- Minister by sojiboy(m): 2:30am On Mar 09, 2018
The Minister on Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Thursday revealed that the House of Representatives duly appropriated the sum of N2,096,500.00 (Two billion, ninety six million, five hundred thousand naira ) for the concessioning of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex in the 2017 budget, wondering why the same House has now turned around to attack the Ministry for implementing the law.

The Minister who addressed journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said both the Ministry and the National Assembly had been on the same page regarding the need to concession the Steel Complex adding that the Ministry had been canvassing the concessioning option in all its meetings and sectoral debates with the law makers.

He said government had taken a decision not to spend an additional one dollar on Ajaokuta, since over $8 billion dollar had been sunk into the project by successive administrations since 1982.

Instead, he said government felt it would be better to give the complex to a credible operator with proven technical capacity and financial wherewithal to run it more profitably.

This he said necessitated the appropriation of over N2billion dollar for the concessioning in the 2017 appropriation duly passed into law by the same law makers now opposed to concessioning.

“We are just implementing what was passed by the National Assembly, that is why we are surprised that we have been subjected to an unwarranted attack over the matter in the last one week”.

Dr Fayemi said the March 1, 2018 sectoral debate which himself and the Minister of State Hon Abubakar Bawa Bwari, could not attend, and for which they duly notified the law makers, was the first and only time they would be absent at such debates, having attended four previously, with focus on Ajaokuta and the steel sector.

The Minister stated that most of the allegations made against him, the Minister of State and the Ministry officials were not only unfounded but malicious. He said while the House members reserved the right to discuss and pass resolutions on national issues, he took serious exception to a member of the House going outside the hallowed chambers to make spurious allegations against public servants.

He revealed also that the technical audit, which would determine the actual cost of fixing Ajaokuta Steel Complex, was still on going, and would be ready in six weeks.

Specifically, Dr Fayemi said that contrary to insinuations, the Russian government had never approached the Ministry nor the Federal Government to signify interest in running the complex.

He , however, confirmed that some companies in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Nigeria had expressed interest in taking over the Ajaokuta Complex, but that the Ministry’s stand was that they should wait till an open and competitive bid for the steel complex would be opened.

This, he said would happen after certain things have been put in place including the technical audit.

Fayemi said that the idea that the Ajaokuta complex was 98 per cent completed can best be determined by the outcome of the technical audit, without which he said insistence on the 98 per cent completion amount to mere sloganeering.

Fayemi said: “Ajaokuta is an inherited challenge. The Chief Olusegun Obasanjo administration concessioned it, the President Umaru Yar’Adua government revoked it. And the case went to London Court of Arbitration. Its resolution in 2016 led to the signing of the Modified NIOMCO Agreement, which ceded the complex back to the Federal Government and NIOMCO to Global Steel.

““No fewer than 14 parties have shown interest in running the complex, but government’s position is that we would not do any concessioning without a technical audit.

“PriceWaterHouse Cooper was engaged to do a review of the company’s indebtedness and statutory liabilities as part of the settlement agreement.

“The National Assembly appropriated N2,096,500 for Ajaokuta Concessioning in the 2017 Appropriation duly passed into law. We are just commencing what was passed into law by the National Assembly.

“This is why I am surprised at how we have been subjected to vitriolic attack in the last one week. The March 1 sectoral debate which we could not attend was the first and only one myself and the Minister of State were unable to attend and we duly communicated this to the leadership of the House.

“We take exception to allegations that are not backed up by evidence. Allegations that officials of the Ministry have had their hands tied by concessionaire is quite unfounded.

“The Russian government has not indicated interest in Ajaokuta. Yes we have had offers form companies from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and even Nigeria.

“Yes, I have met with the Russian Ambassador the same way I have met with the Ukrainian Ambassador and many other ambassadors. The Russian ambassador told me they can offer technical, management or audit support. But not as a country bringing in money to take over the complex.

“Many are saying Ajaokuta is 98 per cent completed. The Ministry believes that can only be determined by the outcome of the technical audit, which should be ready in about six weeks.

Fayemi reiterated that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was being painstaking with the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, giving the fact that the steel complex had been a victim of bad planning and poor execution by past administrations.

“Our interest is to make it work, so that it can create jobs and wealth, and we are ready to work with the National Assembly and other stakeholders to ensure its success,” Fayemi added.

Politics / $500m: ‘why Fayemi Disagreed With House On Ajaokuta Steel’ by sojiboy(m): 11:41am On Mar 02, 2018
Fresh facts emerged yesterday that Minister of Mines and Steel Development Kayode Fayemi disagreed with the House of Representatives over alleged plans by some lawmakers to inject $500 million into the ministry’s budget for Ajaokuta Steel Complex.

The minister allegedly refused to accept the extra-budgetary allocation because the ministry could not source for such funds.

He said the House did not take cognisance of an audit report, which indicated that the Steel Complex requires $1.049 billion to be fully on stream.

But despite two letters sent to the House on why Fayemi and the Minister of State, Bawa Bwari, could not appear before the chamber, the representatives went ahead to pass a vote of no confidence on them.

The Federal Government was said to have rated the action of the House as “probably premeditated”.

A top source in government said the House of Representatives wanted Fayemi to dance to its tunes and the minister resisted.

The source said: “It was purely a case of pressure from the House to railroad the minister to take action on the $500 million, which he had no powers to do.

“The House wanted to use the ministry to legitimise the appropriation of $500 million under the guise of resuscitating the Ajaokuta Steel Complex.

“Fayemi however refused to be railroaded into being used for extra-budgetary allocation. This is just the crux of the matter.

“There was no way the ministry could source for $500 million but the House insisted that the allocation must be in the ministry’s budget. Where will either the Federal Government or the ministry get such a budget?

“Appropriation is about being realistic, the minister could not build in $500 million into his ministry’s budget what he did not ask for. The House was so passionate about the cash as if there was more to it.

“Reports from experts have shown that $500 million cannot resuscitate Ajaokuta Steel Complex. By the ministry’s records, about $1.049 billion is actually required to put the steel complex fully on stream.

“It was curious that the House was harping on $500 million component to complete the complex without reference to the balance of $549 million for the auxiliary facilities that will me make it functional

“An audit report by the House also indicated that it is better to source for about $700 million and build a modern steel complex within a record time than sinking $500 million on Ajaokuta Steel Complex.”

The source added: “Even if the House wanted $500 million for Ajaokuta Steel Complex, it should engage the Executive arm through the Presidency instead of fighting a proxy war with a minister and taking issues personal.

“At the appropriate time, Nigerians will know what actually transpired and why the House angrily passed a vote of no confidence on Fayemi.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “The minister did not shun the House invitation contrary to insinuations. In fact, two letters were sent to the House requesting for a shift in the day of appearance.

“The whole decision of the House was like a premeditated action. But the government is already looking into it.”

In a February 27, letter to Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Mu’azu, the two ministers explained why they could not honour the invitation of the House.

The letter said in part: “I write to respectfully acknowledge the receipt of your letter, reference NASS/ SPK/ADM/VOL. II/123 dated 16th February, 2018 on the above subject and to convey to the Honourable Speaker that the honourable ministers will be unavoidably absent in this Special Debate session of the sector.

“The honourable minister, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his counterpart, the Honourable Minister of State, Hon. Abubakar Bawa Bwari are slated for official engagements during the scheduled period of the debate.

“The honourable minister has prior diplomatic schedule engagement in preparation to the focal labs of ERGP relating to the mining sector while the Minister of State will be leading the ministry’s delegation to Canada to attend the PDAC Conference.

“While regretting the ministry’s inability to attend, the honourable ministers greatly appreciate the Hon. Speaker and his members on the interest and genuine concern shown to the sector in organising a debate to discuss a way forward on the Ajaokuta Steel Company.

In a March 1 , 2018 letter to the Speaker by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abdulkadir Mu’azu, the Ministers said:

“I present to you compliments of the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development and wish to refer to your NASS/ SPK/ADM/VOL. II/235 on the above subject matter (Invitation to Special Session of the House of Representatives at the Sectoral Debate on Iron and steel Sector).

“As earlier stated in our letter to you, regrettably, the honourable minister would not be able to honour your invitation to the sectoral debate on Iron and Steel Sector due to reasons adduced.

“Furthermore, the ministry wish to take a strong exception to the content of your letter in paragraph 4 that insinuates that the proposed concessionaire have tied the hands of the ministry. With due respect, we regard this statement as unfair in view of the cordial relationship that exists between our two ministers and the Hon. Speaker and the leadership of the House Committee on Steel and Metallurgy.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development’s hands have not been tied by any imagined proposed concessionaire.

“This ministry under the leadership of the two ministers is totally committed to the completion and function of the Ajaokuta Steel Plant in view of the fact that steel is the most important engineering material and backbone of industrialization in any economy.”

"The Honourable minister's response to the controversial vote of no confidence passed on him today by the lower legislative chamber of the Nigerian National Assembly is well-scripted and well put succinctly.

Apparently, Mr. Yinka Oyebode did a nice job because responding to such a nauseating and unprovoked action of the House of Representatives against Dr Kayode Fayemi and the Honourable Minister of State requires great tact and diplomacy which are all embedded in Mr. Oyebode's press release.

Nonetheless, I am highly disappointed in Mr Femi Gbajabiamila who moved the motion requesting that a vote of no confidence should be slammed on the duo. His action is unbecoming of a constitutional lawyer he prides himself"
