Extravagancy, prodigality and hedonistic life is not a Good trait in leadership. The lust for material wealth breeds corruption. A Good leader must be modest ,with a behaviour that reflect contentment.

DocHMD:

Same here, I travel with GiG becauae unlike other buses like Guo and Okeyson which are usually driven by touts and Indian hemp smokers, GiG employ cool-headed people (some of them graduates) as drivers (Captains). Buses are all airconditioned. They have speed-limiters and patrol teams. Their report call line is always active and they sanction erring drivers.

I forced all my family members to travel with them, if they must travel by land. This is the first time I'm seeing them involved in an accident. Hope their management will get to the root of this case and ensure it doesn't happen again.

Thank God no life was lost.

Absolute truth. Even this accident is just not ordinary but yet u can see the damage on car is even little, yet no life was lost. It's not definitely d drivers fault. Possibly things beyond his doing but did his best to avert. I love GiG but I don't always have their money

Ekiti Youths Dismiss Assembly's Fraud Charge Against Fayemi

... Says It's Attempt To Protect Fayose From Accountability

Ekiti youths group under the aegis of Ekiti Youth Vanguard has lampooned the leadership of Ekiti State House of Assembly over call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) to investigate former Governor Kayode Fayemi over an alleged N40billion fraud.

It described the move as a diversionary tactic by Governor Ayodele Fayose and "his men in the House of Assembly" to divert the attention of Ekiti people from the "mindless looting of the state treasury by Fayose's administration while workers remain unpaid for six months".

The House of Assembly had on Monday passed a resolution giving an eight-day ultimatum to the anti-graft agency to investigate allegation of N40b fraud against the former governor.

But in a statement in Ado Ekiti by its Coordinator, Charles Fakunle, the youths group faulted the action, describing the lawmakers as "shameless attention-seekers and busy bodies" who had failed in their duties of providing quality and robust legislature for making good laws and oversight functions for which they were elected by the people.

Regretting that the Assembly men had allegedly chosen to make themselves "partners in crime with the Executive arm of government", the group urged the Assembly members to keep their mouths shut if they could not live up to their responsibility as responsible representatives of Ekiti people.

"The Assembly men headed by Pastor Kola Oluwawole have been a huge disaster over the master-slave relationship they have with Governor Fayose.

"Besides colluding with the governor to destroy the tenets of democracy and governance, they have also been  irresponsible in the discharge of their responsibilities, choosing to be more of a rubber-stamp by passing every bill sent to them by the governor without proper scrutiny and acting as Fayose's attack dogs when the governor is asked to be accountable in running the government.

"More annoyingly, they watch helplessly as Fayose diverts Ekiti money illegally to purposes not appropriated in the budget, including doing nothing on the internally generated revenue incomes allegedly kept in private accounts not known to the state's financial system," the statement explained.

The group alleged that because the House of Assembly worked in cahoots with the governor to divert the first bailout package received by the state, members could not say anything when workers protested against failure to use the bailout for the purpose it was approved by the Federal Government.

"The bailout that Fayose diverted was specifically for the payment of salaries, pensions, gratuities and severance packages of former political office holders, but because these questionable characters in the Assembly were accomplices in the illegal funds diversion scheme, they kept quiet only to find their voices now to accuse others of corrupt practices even when they are more guilty of same," the group said.

The statement added: "It is even more disgusting that such accusation of fraud against Fayemi could be coming from Fayose and his men who have got all the opportunities in the world to prove their case against the former governor but refused to do so until now when it has become crystal clear to Ekiti people that Fayose is determined to play smart with them with the reckless diversion of bailout cash resulting in salary payment default and failure to keep campaign promises.

"We wonder why it took the assembly members this long to coincide with the time Ekiti people are asking Fayose to account for the about N20b bailout he took before they suddenly realised that they must ask EFCC to probe Fayemi, all this in an attempt to divert Ekiti people's attention from criminal diversion of their money to the private use of government's leaders.

"While we are not holding brief for Fayemi, who we know as a public official ought to be accountable for everything done under his watch, we find it rather curious, annoying and nauseating that Governor Fayose after more than two years in the saddle is still making Fayemi an issue over debts and failure to pay salaries.
"For more than two years, Fayose did not look into the books that Fayemi handed to him in his handover notes, but now Fayose is making inflammatory statements and baseless allegations that lack logic.
"For Instance, when Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State accused his predecessor of corruption, he did not try him in the media, neither did he wait for the EFCC to investigate him; he rather set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry on his assumption of office to looked into the books and the panel came out with their findings and recommendations.
"This is what we had expected Fayose and his men to do instead of wailing endlessly and making baseless accusations and smear campaigns in the media to divert attention for political advantage."
The group urged the House of Assembly members to devote their energies to lawmaking and oversight functions, instead of acting as partners in alleged looting of the state to the advantage of the governor while the people suffered.
"The lawmakers that are now acting Fayose's script said nothing when news broke that alleged Fayose's mistress made away with N75m out of Ekiti meagre resources, including keeping quiet when the governor's aides stole $50,000 in the Government House because the governor has more than enough of Ekiti money in his private purse," the group said.
The statement admonished the Assembly members to desist from being used by Fayose to destroy the state and fight imaginary political enemies.

Politics / Ekiti PDP Youths Hail Judgment; Say It Marks The End Of Fayose's Dictatorship. by sojiboy(m): 6:44pm On Jan 26, 2017
Press Statement

Ekiti PDP Youths Hail Judgment; Say it marks the end of Fayose's dictatorship.

Youths of Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party under the aegis of Ekiti PDP Youth League has hailed the Judgment of Federal High Court Ado Ekiti that sacked the State Working Committee of the Party led by Gboyega Oguntuase and declared the faction led by Williams Ajayi, describing the judgment as end of Fayose's Impunity and Dictatorship.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, the group hailed the Judiciary for living up to its billing as the last hope of the common man and clipping the wings of anti democratic elements who are desperate in their megalomaniac adventure, maintaining that the Peoples Democratic Party is bigger than any individual in or out of Government.

"We commend the Judiciary for acting fearlessly and dispensing Justice with all fairness. This judgment has again reinforced our believe that the Court of Law is the last hope of the common man where democracy can be entrenched, nurtured, deepened and sustained."

"Our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party is bigger than Governor Fayose and his co-travelers. When Fayose was jumping from one party to another, our Leaders were here sustaining the structures of the Party and making sure it did not die. It is therefore morally wrong for Fayose, a last minute decampee and political prostitute of great repute, who has traversed nearly all known Political Parties in Nigeria to come back and attempt to seize the Party from its original owners"

The group recalled that it had warn Fayose of his imminent defeat saying "We had always known that the fraudulent State Working Committee put together by Fayose would not stand the test of time and judicial fireworks. This is why we maintained in our first Press Release this year that the reality would soon dawn of Fayose and his men that their days of impunity is over"

"We Congratulate our State Working Committee led by Chief Williams Ajayi for this resounding victory. We also commend our Leaders, Senator Clement Awoyelu, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, Dr Tope Aluko(TKO) , Prince Buruji Kashamu and others for a battle well prosecuted"

The group condemn the emergence of Fayose as the Chairman of Peoples Democratic Governor's Forum, claiming that a man like Fayose who lack basic administrative prowess can not lead PDP back into Government. "It is laughable that a man like Fayose who fights for his pockets above collective goal would impose himself on PDP Governors as the Chairman of the Governors' Forum. In our opinion, Governor Fayose lack the mental sophistication and intellectual wherewithal to lead the Governors on the platform of our great Party. It would be no surprise to us if Fayose turns the Forum to another 'bolekaja' organisation because that is the only thing he knows how to do"

"It is even ridiculous that a man like Fayose who is already working with other traitors to divide our Party and defect to another Party would be made the Chairman of the Governors' Forum. This is why we will not stop encouraging our Leaders to continue to fight hard to restore discipline into the Party and send men like Fayose and his gang of traitors to where they truly belong"

For our Party in Ekiti State, it is a new beginning. We call on our members in the House of Assembly and National Assembly to embrace reality and work with the authentic State Working Committee under the Leadership of Chief Williams Ojo, to reposition our Party and prepare ahead of the next election.

Ekiti PDP Youths Congratulate Ekiti State Ambassadorial Nominee.

Youths of Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party under the umbrella of Ekiti PDP Youth League have congratulated Dr. Eniola Ajayi on her well deserved nomination.

We as a league really commend President Buhari for his choice of Eniola Ajayi who served as Commissioner of Education during Dr. Kayode Fayemi's regime.

Her records are so clear and enviable despite spirited attempts by Governor Fayose and his media aides to rubbish this woman of substance.

Apart from Eniola's youthful orientation, giving us the confidence that she will deliver, her career as a successful medical doctor has also proven that she is able, capable and competent.

While we wish her a hitch-free screening at the Senate whenever she is called upon, we plead that she ignore our never do well Governor and extend her hands of opportunities across the Ekiti youths in the state, irrespective of political divides as our Governor has never better the lives of we, the youth in his party, talk less of other parties and the state at large.

Unemployment has eaten deep in our state that Fayose now prefer to feed us as almajiris than giving us jobs.

Ambassadorial nominee ma, we wish you all the best as you take the new assignment and also wish you accept our congratulatory messages not minding the quarter it's coming from.

We the youth wing of the Party are proud of anything good about Ekiti state, irrespective of who is involved. We are particularly happy that your well deserved appointment came a day after our garrulous governor complained on his media chat programme, 'Governor Explains' that no Ekiti woman has been given a Federal appointment thus abusing the President as usual. We are happy that your appointment has kept his mouth shut and that is why he and his notorious media aides and e-rats have resorted to cheap blackmail and character assassination. They are only expressing their frustration.

We will Continue to correct the Governor with the love we have for the Party and the state at large. Congratulations once again ma.

Politics / Fayose Raising False Alarm, Ekiti Pdp Youth League by sojiboy(m): 7:25pm On Jan 06, 2017
Fayose raising false alarm, Ekiti PDP Youth League.

Youths of Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party under the umbrella of Ekiti PDP Youth League has berated Governor Fayose over his latest accusation of Former Governors Kayode Fayemi and Engr Segun Oni of plotting to remove him from office through the Judiciary, describing him as a false alarmist, serial blackmailer and a compulsive liar.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, the group accused Governor Ayo Fayose of crying wolf where there is none, urging him to stop fighting imaginary enemies.

The group maintained that the facts on #Ekitigate speaks for itself, adding that there is no need for Fayemi or Oni to compromise the Judiciary before the needed Justice will be done. The League claimed that Fayose is only raising false alarm to draw public sympathy.

They challenged Fayose to concentrate more on the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, both in Ekiti State and at the National Level which call for a more sober reflection and urgent action rather than dissipating energy on fruitless mission of blackmailing the Judiciary.

The Statement reads, "Governor Fayose in his usual characteristic and manner has muzzled all opposing voices in our Party and ruled the affairs of the Party like his personal estate. Since his assumption of office, the Leaders of our Party have not been accorded any place in the Government.

The real members of PDP who have toiled day and night to build the Party when Governor Fayose was junketing from one party to another have been utterly neglected and relegated to the back seat"

"More annoyingly, the Governor has refused to recognise Leaders of the Party and has been treating them with utmost disdain. It is even more annoying that Governor Fayose is now planning to dump the Party after it has used it to achieve his aims of enriching himself and his cronies and making a name for himself, as far as we are concerned, we will not allow Fayose to destroy the PDP in Ekiti State"

The Statement added that Fayose is only afraid of his shadows as evidence given by Dr Tope Aluko, the Secretary of PDP in the State remains incontrovertible. "We are not surprised that Governor Fayose is jittery.

The truth remains that the evidence given by Dr Tope Aluko, the State Secretary of our Party, on the conduct of the June 21 Gubernatorial Election remain incontrovertible.

As Youths of our great party, we can not deny the fact that the Military was used to assist us in winning the election."

The group urged Governor Fayose to prepare for the reality that will stare him at the face come 24th of January, maintaining that the real leaders of the Party are coming to take ownership of it.

"Governor Fayose should prepare himself for the eventual reality that the real leaders of the Party are coming to take ownership of it, come 24th of this month, we await a court judgment that will send Governor Fayose and his co-travelers to where they belong, the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State is never a personal estate of Governor Fayose and we will not continue to watch him destroy the Party.

In due course, we will take ownership of the Party and send the Governor and his men to where they belong"

Finally, we urge the Governor to face the business of governing the State more seriously and stop making spurious and unfounded claims that has no basis in Logical reasoning.

You're Afraid Of Your Shadow, APC Replies Fayose

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has reacted to Governor Ayodele Fayose's accusation that the party was plotting the manipulation of the judiciary to re-open Army Panel report on the 2014 governorship poll to have his election victory reversed.
Fayose had in a letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, accused former Governor Segun Oni and Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, of clandestine moves to coerce the judiciary to use Army Panel report to reverse his election victory, praying the CJN to resist the move to preserve democracy and integrity of the judiciary.
But APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, scoffed at the allegation, describing it as the "ranting of a notorious blackmailer, electoral robber, political harlot and a pathological liar".
He said Fayose was afraid of his own shadow as a "lawless misfit in the position of authority who has no respect for the supreme law of the country after his serial rapes on the Constitution but who is now jittery and as a result, has resorted to blackmail" .
Accusing Fayose of crying wolf where none exists, Olatunbosun said there was no meeting where Fayemi and Oni met to boast that he would be removed, noting that the governor was only jittery and afraid of the consequences of his many infractions on the law.
Insisting that there was no meeting between Fayemi and Oni to plot Fayose's removal, Olatunbosun said: "Fayemi and Oni are too decent and busy in their assignments to engage in such frivolous boasts that Fayose is accusing them of. Their track records as democrats and 'Omoluabi' is there for all to see as opposed to Fayose's hit-and-run and 'bolekaja' reputation.
"The same Segun Oni he went to visit at his country home with funfare recently is the same man Fayose is now accusing of plotting to remove him from office, which shows clearly that he is confused and suffering from hysteria.
"Fayemi and Oni would rather busy themselves with the development of Ekiti instead of making Fayose, who has caused much embarrassment to himself and Ekiti people, their topic."
Noting that no one is deceived by Fayose in crowning himself as the national opposition leader to blackmail the Federal Government if called upon to answer for his alleged crimes against Nigerian state, Olatunbosun said the governor would fail in his latest onslaught on the judiciary and blackmail of the ruling party.
"Fayose is on a familiar terrain to save his head with such a pre-emptive blackmail as usual even though he knows the details of the crimes he had committed and has continued to commit against the nation.
"He believes he is the wisest Nigerian who thinks he can cunningly manipulate people's reasoning and cheat the law to get away with his crimes, otherwise how can Fayose indulge in that disingenuous allegation that he is being haunted for refusing to join APC when the truth is that APC leaders have been frustrating his pleas to join the party to save his head," he explained.
He added: "A man who invaded the court to beat a judge and assault court officials with thugs to stop judgment delivery on his perjury case has suddenly realised that the judiciary must not be compromised."

"The guilty is afraid of the consequences of his many crimes against the Nigerian state and we wonder whether he is the one to tell the Supreme Court on what to do".
"Why is Fayose jittery if he actually won the election? What will be the role of Mr Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court on the matter that only the Supreme Court can decide?
"Though no case has been filed before the Supreme Court, if a party feels aggrieved in Ekiti State election matter and decides to urge the Supreme Court to have a second look at the matter after the revelations in Capt Sagir Koli's audio tape, military reports and confessions by PDP principal leaders who participated in the poll crime, there is no amount of blackmail of the judiciary that will stop such aggrieved party from approaching the court to seek redress no matter how long."
He added: "It is the practice of criminals all over the world to always cry wolf when the long arms of the law is about to catch up with them after their serial criminal activities against the state and denial of the citizens of their legitimate rights.
"Because he always knows that he will one day pay for his crimes, this is not the first time Fayose will be shouting about plots to remove him: if his accusation is not against the House of Assembly members, it will be against the judiciary, but the question to ask is; why will a governor who always boasts to have won with a landslide be afraid of being removed by real and imaginary enemies?
"What this means is that Fayose knows that he didn't win the election in actual sense of the word, otherwise he should have nothing to worry about if he has nothing to hide about the circumstances surrounding his victory and we wonder why he is assuming the role of a judge in a matter that has not even been filed.
"Instead of thinking of how to make life better for Ekiti people who he has dehumanised through his misgovernance, Fayose is always looking for all means to attract public attention to himself through blackmail as his strategy, while fabricating and promoting fake stories is his stock in trade, including lying against God as could be seen in fake prophecies.
"By Fayose's desperate move, it is a sign that he knows what the rest of us do not know and we assure him that he will never escape justice, as he shall become a reference point in Nigeria's political history that crime does not pay.
"We advise Fayose to face governance and stop running from pillar to post shouting about imaginary attempt to unseat him. He should provide security and make the state safe for all and pay the backlog of arrears of salary and allowances to workers and pensioners with the new bailout of N8.8 billion, which he is again frittering away like the previous loans."

Politics / President Kenyatta Held Talks With Kayode Fayemi, A Special Envoy From Nigeria by sojiboy(m): 7:24am On Jan 05, 2017
MOMBASA, Kenya, Jan 4 – President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday at State House, Mombasa, held talks with Kayode Fayemi, a special envoy from Nigeria.

Fayemi, who is the Nigerian Minister for Solid Minerals Development, introduced Fatima Kyari Mohammed as the country’s candidate for the position of Commissioner for Peace and Security in the fourth coming elections for African Union Commission top officials.

Elections of officials of the African Union Commission (AUC) will be held later this month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the African Union Summit.
Kenya is campaigning for the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Amina Mohamed to take the AUC Chairperson’s position.

President Kenyatta and Fayemi discussed issues of mutual concern to Kenya and Nigeria, including the deepening of continental integration, peace and security.

Kyari Mohammed, the Nigerian candidate for Commissioner for Peace and Security, said her vision is to have a prosperous Africa where citizens can live in security and dignity in an inclusive environment facilitated by collective responsibility and accountable institutions that foster peace and stability.

Nigeria, through the envoy, pledged to support Amb. Mohamed’s candidature for the African Union Commission Chairperson position to replace Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma whose term at the AU top organ has come to an end.

Solid Minerals and Economic Diversification; Fayemi's Giant Strides in 365 Days.

The only ministry that performed creditably well under the leadership of Dr Goodluck Jonathan was Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development headed by Dr Akinwumi Adesina who is now the President of the African Development Bank. Adesina's tenure in the Agric Ministry was widely acclaimed by Nigerians as innovative and sterling.

The Agric Ministry, according to facts and reports is the second in the President Buhari’s regime
" The growth in the non-oil economy although still weak at 0.03% showed a return to positive territory after two consecutive quarters of negative growth. This was partly due to the continued good performance of agriculture and the solid minerals, two sectors prioritised by the Federal Government. Agriculture grew by 4.54% in the quarter under consideration of which growth in crop production at nearly 5% was at its highest since the first quarter of 2014. Growth in the solid mineral sector averaged about 7%."

Minister of Agriculture for sustaining the growth of Agriculture, The fact remains that my leader and mentor deserves to be applauded, eulogised, encouraged and respected for injecting life into the almost dead solid minerals sector of our Economy. You will agree with me that much have not been heard about the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in the past sixteen years.

It takes a man of golden qualities to turn around the fortunes of a Ministry operating at its lowest ebbs, many have applauded the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint Dr Kayode Fayemi to steer the efforts of the Government at diversifying the nation's economy from her age long over dependence on crude oil and move her into a new era of prosperity where Agriculture and Solid Minerals Development will form the mainstay of our Economy. In just 365 Days, Dr John Kayode Fayemi has transformed the Ministry from its dying and decaying form to one contributing hugely to the nation's GDP with 7% while Agriculture that was actually doing better earlier now contributes 4.54%.

Equally worthy of note is the fact that, countries like Australia, China and South Africa to mention but few have agreed to partner with the ministry in the exploration of our Solid Minerals,

Fayemi in his usual diligent approach to his work has come up with a comprehensive database of Mineral Resources in the Country for ease of accessibility. Any investor or a Prospective Investor from any part of the world can get relevant information about the Solid Minerals sector today from the corner of their rooms with just a click on their internet enabled devices.

Also Fayemi has highlighted the major seven minerals that his ministry will use in making a turnaround of the economy of the nation as that has always been the wish of Mr. President, who undoubtedly chose the best man who has been tested, trusted and found capable of leading the diversification of the economy.

Fayemi who is always good at researching and creating records have also made so many discoveries in his ministry among which “high grade” NICKEL is just one many stories we heard of in recent discoveries in the ministry.

Its no gain saying that Fayemi has set the record straight in his first year in office as we approach 2017, Fayemi and his ministry is one to look out for by Nigerians.

Attention will surely be on them, like he did absolutely well when he was the Governor of Ekiti state, No doubt some of us who follow his achievements with keen intrest knows he won't disappoint.
He has done so well in 365 Days and as we keep faith with him, he will much better in the year 2017. In 2017, the revolution in the Solid Mineral Sector will be spontaneous. Jobs will be created, new grounds will be broken and Nigeria will be better for it.

Another Person Kidnapped in Ekiti, Security Chief Snubs Fayose

Ekiti state is fast becoming the most dangerous state to live in Nigeria. In two weeks, three people have been murdered in the state while another person was kidnapped two days ago in Ikere Ekiti. The person is yet to be rescued. Despite the operation flush that Governor Fayose launched to curb crime in the state, kidnapping and assassination has continued unabated in the state. This has fuelled speculations that Fayose himself may know about the incidents to scare away opposition figures from the state as politicking for 2018 elections has started.

This suspicion that Fayose may be behind the kidnapping and other crimes in the state was reinforced when the last kidnapped incident happened Thursday night. A reliable security source told Olota News Review that Governor Fayose called the head of a government security organisation in a neighboring state but his call was ignored because the security chief accused Fayose of being the brain behind the increased criminal activities in his state. This is because Fayose wanted to create a state of artificial insecurity to scare away perceived political opponents ahead of 2018 elections. The security chief was so furious with Fayose and queried, "why is it only in Ekiti that kidnapping and assassination occurred on a daily basis?, 'why not Ondo, why not Osun? What is the economic attraction in Ekiti to warrant such a high level of crime?" , the man queried? The security boss also complained bitterly about how Fayose short changed them in terms of their welfare and assistance in patrol vehicles and security equipment as was the practice with past regimes. The security chief alleged that Fayose did not release any of the 12 Hilux vans donated by telecommunications giants, MTN through the state government to combat crime. Fayose was reported to have collected the vehicles and took two for his personal use while he sold the remaining 10. Apart from the shabby treatment he meted to security agents, Fayose doesn't give them money monthly as it was the practice under the previous administrations. This has adversely affected the morale of the security agents in the state to effectively combat crime. More worrisome is the allegation that the Governor may be the brain behind the criminal activities for political reasons. Olota News Review will bring you update on the latest kidnap incident in Ikere. May God save Ekiti people!

Ekiti Youths Applaud Fayemi
The national umbrella of a socio-cultural body in Ekiti State, "Ekiti Young Professionals" (JKF Support Group) has applauded the current Minister of Mines and Steel Development ,Dr. John Kayode Fayemi, for representing the state well at the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
The group also expressed appreciation to President Mohammed Buhari for recognising Fayemi's capabilities by assigning him to the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, the ministry that is very central to the economic diversification agenda of the Federal Government to grow the nation.
The group also listed the catching achievements the former governor recorded as the Chief Executive of Ekiti State, citing youths empowerment schemes, that gave hope to hundreds of youth to earn a living.
"Fayemi, during his reign in Ekiti, created platforms for youths to showcase their latent potentialities for the economic emancipation of the state through introduction of programmes, such as YCAD(Youth in Commercial Agriculture Development), creation of Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA/Dagrin), partnering of Samsung Mobile Company to establish a centre in the state for the training of Ekiti Youths on ICT, special training of Youth Volunteers Scheme where Ekiti youths were trained on entrepreneur skills, including repairs of phones, electric installations, catering skills and garment designing, including engagement of over 3,000youths in to the youth volunteer corps.
"Fayemi also recruited over 300 youths into the Fire Brigade Corps and employed oover 5000 youths into peace corps, among other initiatives that took the youth out of the streets," the group said.
The statement added: "As Governor, Fayemi, because of his passion for education, empowered the state- owned varsity, EKSU, to attain for the very first time 100 percent accreditation of courses by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
According to the group, for the love the former governor had for education, he created E-Learning Department in the Ministry of Education, for the monitoring of ICT education among young people.
"It is interesting to note that after almost a year this department came into being , the PDP-led Federal Government sent their officers from Abuja to understudy the implementation of same department at the federal level.
"The implication of the Federal Government's action is that Fayemi was far above his peers in governance, and due to the implementation of his idea of one computer per child in schools, Ekiti students became familiar with the use of computer gadgets, which made the state to record the highest numbers of candidates that registered for 2014 JAMB-CBT examination mode," the group said.
The group regretted that Governor Ayodele Fayose has cancelled the scheme, thereby denying Ekiti students the advantage of computer education.
The group added: "Fayemi not only increased the yearly bursary allocation for Ekiti youths in the tertiary institutions, but also empowered the Scholarship Department of Ministry of Education to enlarge the scope of participation of the youths in getting financial strength to pursue their Post-Graduate programmes within and outside the shores of the country, while he personally sponsored six first class members of the then Volunteer Corps to foreign lands for their post-graduate education."
The group regretted that all these positive developments have been replaced by lining up in the sun for cake and one or two measures of rice with its belittling implications for the youths and the state.
The group called on every lover of the state to rise up in retrieving the state from a man and governor that's bereft of modern ideas of governance.
The group also praised the minister for the records he had set in the "almost dead" ministry by significantly increasing the revenue profile in the mining sector, noting that the third quarter results just released by the National Bureau of Statistics showed Fayemi's midas touch,as growth in the solid mineral sector averaged about seven percent in just one year in office.
"As young professionals, we commend his brilliant achievements and also pledge our unalloyed support to him and his leadership.
"He mentors almost all of us here and we are surely going to emulate him and tap from his great wealth of wisdom.
"While we applaud him, we plead with the minister to look into the rate of unemployment in Ekiti State as it grows and see how he can use his good offices to ameliorate the situation before it deteriorates to a very bad state, as the man in charge of the state is interested more in politics than governance," the group concluded.
