BusinessHow Wigwe’s Aide, Faleye Olushola, Escaped Death In Helicopter Crash by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 8:52pm On Feb 11, 2024
Faleye Olushola, the Special Assistant to the Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, narrowly avoided tragedy on Friday night amidst the ill-fated helicopter crash that claimed the lives of his boss, wife, and son.

Initial reports from Tribune Online on Saturday indicated that Wigwe, along with his wife, Chizoba, and son, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in the United States.

However, by a stroke of luck, Olushola, whose name was listed on the manifest, narrowly escaped death as he opted against boarding the ill-fated flight, choosing instead to travel by road.

According to ThisDay, Olushola had accompanied Wigwe, his wife, son, and former Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), Abimbola Ogunbanjo, on a flight from London, United Kingdom, to Palm Springs, California, US.

Upon reaching Palm Springs, Olushola made the decision not to board the helicopter bound for Boulder City in Nevada, citing concerns about night-time weather conditions.

Opting to travel by road instead, Olushola narrowly avoided the tragic air disaster that claimed the lives of four others.

CrimeFAMILY Of Olowofela Breaks Silence Over Allegations Of Kidnap, Killings Of Obas by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 9:15pm On Feb 10, 2024
THE family of Chief Oyebanji Olowofela has reacted to the kidnap and killing allegations against the elderly man.

In a Press Statement signed by the Solicitor to the Olowofela Family of Igbara Odo, Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Dr Mobolaji OJIBARA available to SOJ WORLDWIDE, the family demand for justice and fair trial for Olowofela.

"The immediate and extended family of Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela, the Asamo of Igbara Odo, in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti State, is deeply concerned about the ongoing media trial of Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela regarding allegations of his supposed involvement in kidnapping cases of killings across Ekiti and Kwara States.

The family feels compelled to address recent accusations regarding his alleged connection to the regrettable incidents surrounding the deaths of the Ọba of Koro in Kwara State and the two traditional rulers in Ekiti State. We pray for the repose of the souls of the Obas and that God will comfort their respective families and people.

As responsible members of the society and devoted family of Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela, the family maintains Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela’s innocence in these matters and unequivocally declares that Chief Olowofela has been wrongfully accused and unjustly implicated in these tragic events. It is emphatically stated that Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela was not involved, aware of, or complicit in any manner whatsoever in any kidnapping or killing incident.

The family steadfastly stand by his integrity, character, and unwavering commitment to upholding the law. Chief Olowofela has dedicated his life to serving his community, advocating for peace, and fostering harmony among its people. His pedigree and track record speak volumes about his unwavering stance in promoting the rule of law and denouncing all forms of violence.

While noting the importance of the investigation being carried out by the Nigerian Police Force and acknowledging the commitment of the law enforcement agency in keeping the country safe and uncovering the facts with a view to bringing the real perpetrators of the alleged heinous crimes to justice, the family, as a group of law-abiding citizens, pledges its full cooperation with the authorities and urges anyone with useful information to approach the police and assist in the investigation.

The family expresses profound concern over the spread of incendiary, baseless and insensitive statements circulating on social media platforms concerning Chief Olowofela and the incidents in question. Whilst the family acknowledges the curiosity and apprehension of the public concerning these incidences, we urge everyone to exercise caution and abstain from disseminating inflammatory comments or unsubstantiated allegations. The impact of misinformation and malicious reporting on the family members has been devastating; causing emotional trauma and profound destabilization that is difficult for the family to comprehend.

Furthermore, the disparagement of the Patriarch of the Olowofela Family, the Asamo of Igbara-Odo, on social media without any official statement from the Nigerian Police Force can only undermine the integrity of the ongoing investigation and exacerbate unwarranted tension, while also unfairly exposing the family to unimaginable risks and repercussions.

Members of the public engaging in deliberate media trial of this matter with the intent of disparaging and tarnishing the reputation of the octogenarian are hereby advised to cease immediately. We urge them to retract all unfounded and incriminating messages or images they may have disseminated in any form or manner and to refrain from any further intrusion into Chief Olowofela’s privacy and that of his family members. The Olowofela Family is prepared to take any necessary measures within the ambit of the law to safeguard the Patriarch of Olowofela Family’s integrity and the legacy he has diligently cultivated over the years.

The Family is deeply grateful for the continuous support, encouragement, comforting words, affirmations, understanding, and prayers extended to them by friends, relatives, associates, and the broader community. The outpouring of love and reassurance has significantly alleviated the family’s pain and distress during this challenging period. Whilst the Family humbly requests that you continue to pray for the swift, complete vindication of their Father, they maintain its steadfast confidence that Chief Philip Oyebanji Olowofela will be exonerated of all allegations, restoring his reputation without any blemish of wrongdoing.

In conclusion, while praying for expedited conclusion of the investigations, and recognising that due legal process and police investigations must be allowed to proceed without prejudice or bias, the public is implored to verify every information regarding this matter before disseminating same and to abstain from participating in speculative discussions that could escalate the situation. Let us maintain the principles of fairness, justice, and respect for due process."

PoliticsREAD Bold And Courageous Statement From Broadcast Journalist, Seun Okinbaloye Se by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 4:04am On Feb 07, 2024
SEUN Okinbaloye is a popular Broadcast Journalist with the Channels Television, he is the Host of the Television's popular program, Politics Today.

On January 29, 2024, he took a bold and courageous move to use his platform to tell President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rise to the occasion and fix Nigeria troubled by menace of bandits, armed robbery, kidnappers and the rising inflation that is making life unbearable for Nigerians.

Seun tagged his message, 'Final Word.'

"Here is my final word tonight.
Mr President Senator Bola Tinubu, It is to you tonight that I bring the burden and plight of our people to. I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits.

As you continue to navigate the responsibilities that comes with the esteem position you hold, it is with a heart and deep concern that I pass this message on the current state of our beloved nation Nigeria.

In a time when the heartbeat of our nation is raising with fear and a very fabric of our society is tearing at the same, we stand at a crossroad.

President Tinubu, the nation calls for your undivided attention as you embark on a private visit to France. Our beloved Nigeria is grumbling with unprecedented challenges that demand urgent and decisive action.
Kidnapping and abductions at the order of the day from Lagos to Kaduna, Taraba and violent and criminal activities have propounded our land, even in the heart our nation’s capital.

The audacity of kidnappers has become a sinister reality striking fear into the heart of our people.

Our citizens are living in constant fear unsure of their safety and safety of your loved ones. This is not the Nigeria we dreamed of, not the renewed hope that was promised.

We applaud the gallantry of our security operatives but indeed more works still need to be done to keep the people safe. Efforts are being made but appears they are not far enough.

What have become the strategies of State Police and Community Policing that has been talked about for several years and a huge wide paper and advisory note on how to tackle insecurity in Nigeria, where are they?

President Tinubu, as a pro- democracy agitator, isn’t it the right time to restructure Nigeria for it to work properly?

Is the Nigeria you and your friends fought for, is it the Nigeria we’re talking about? The removal of subsidies has unleashed a tider wave of economy downturn leaving families struggling to make ends meets, prices of commodities have gone through the roof.

The biting effects have been felt across the nation and the loss of confidence in the government is palpable. This is not a time for complacency, it is the time for bold unwoven leadership.
Mr President, I think it is about time to get the nation’s egghead in one room and find a lasting cure to our ailing economy.

As you stand on foreign soil Mr President, remember the weight of your responsibility to the Nigerian people. Our citizens including those who voted for you are loosing faith in the government.

The implications in the loss of confidence are far reaching and as a leader you cannot afford to look away. Investors have fling the nation like never before, economy potential of Nigeria is being squandered and the consequences will be fed for generations.

We urge you Mr President to take immediate measures to create an environment that attracts and retains investments. The clock is ticking and our economic future is at stake, Mr president, the time to act is now.
Swift and decisive measures are needed to curb the escalated insecurity, alleviate the economic burden on citizen and restore the confidence in the governmeny

This is not only a call to fulfill campaign promises, but a plea for the preservation of our great nation. Mr President, our original leadership is hanging in the balance, some members of ECOWAS are exceedingly exit and Nigeria’s influence is under threat.
It is time to reinstate your leadership, strengthen diplomatic ties and secure our place in the committee of nations.

As journalists, we will not shy away from probing, inspiring and holding leaders accountable.
President Tinubu, live up to the expectations of your calling and the mandate upon which your office stands.

Nigerian people deserve more, they deserve a leader who acts with urgency, integrity and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of our great nation.

The challenges maybe daunted but if you are resonate and carry the people along, we can all together overcome.

CrimeBreaking: Efcc Arrests Pastor For N1.3billion Fake Grants, Money Laundering (i by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 8:57pm On Feb 05, 2024
THE General Overseer of Faith On The Rock Ministry International, Apostle Theophilus Oloche Ebonyi have been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for defrauding church members and other Nigerians using fake grants from the Ford Foundation to the tune of N1,319,040,274.31( One Billion Three Hundred and Nineteen Million, Forty Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-Four Naira, Thirty-One Kobo).

Ebonyi was arrested for defrauding his victims, comprising Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs and individuals by advertising an intervention project through his NGO (Theobarth Global Foundation) claiming that the Ford Foundation was offering a grant of $20,000,000.000 (Twenty Billion United State Dollars) to assist the less-privileged in the society.

SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS Wins Award Of Excellence

He allegedly beguiled his victims to subscribe as beneficiaries of the phony grant by asking them to pay for registration forms and clusters. Each subscriber was made to pay N1,800,000 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira only). Through this arrangement, Ebonyi allegedly raked in N1,391,040,274.31. His subscribers are innocent and unsuspecting Nigerians and NGOs across the country.

Investigations by the EFCC showed that the Ford Foundation had no arrangement, grant, relationship or business with Ebonyi. The Foundation pointedly disclaimed him and his NGO stressing that it had no link whatsoever with them. The Commission has also traced five properties he acquired as proceeds of his criminal dealings.
Ebonyi is still reportedly reaching his subscribers on some social media platforms to market his spurious grant from Ford Foundation.

He would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

CrimeCOURT Frees SAMSUNG Boss Of Financial Crimes As Samsung Loses Crown To Apple by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 6:15pm On Feb 05, 2024
The billionaire boss of Samsung Electronics, one of the world’s biggest technology firms, Lee Jae-yong was freed and acquitted by the court in Seoul.

Lee was found not guilty by a Seoul Court on Monday on charges of stock manipulation and accounting fraud connected to a controversial merger in 2015 of two Samsung affiliates.

The acquittal comes as a big relief to Lee, who has been embroiled in legal problems for years.

Last year, South Korean prosecutors had asked for a five-year jail term for Lee, alleging that he and other executives inflated the stock price of a textile company, Cheil Industries, and devalued a construction and engineering company, Samsung C&T, ahead of the merger.

They alleged that the merger of the two firms allowed Lee to gain a tighter grip on Samsung Electronics, the group’s flagship company, of which he serves as executive chairman.

Lee’s attorneys had denied any wrongdoing, saying the merger had helped the management of the conglomerate became more stable.

Seoul Central District Court chief judge Park Jung-jae said there was not enough evidence that Samsung had intended to cause losses to Samsung C&T and its shareholders through the merger.

“Even if Lee’s control has been strengthened, the merger in this case cannot be considered unfair, as long as there is a reasonable purpose for the merger,” Park said.

It’s unclear if prosecutors will appeal this ruling, which has come as a surprise to experts.

“It is a totally shocking verdict,” Park Sangin, economics professor at Seoul National University, told CNN. He added the decision will “lead to lowering the confidence of foreign investors in the Korean legal system and the soundness of the Korean capital market.”

Lee, who is also known as Jay Y. Lee, was previously found guilty of bribery and other corruption charges in 2017 in a separate case. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but walked free after less than a year when an appeals court threw out some of the charges and suspended his sentence.

SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS Wins Award Of Excellence

However, the billionaire was sent back to prison in January 2021 after being sentenced to two and a half years without a suspension after the Seoul High Court found him guilty of embezzlement and bribery. He was released on parole in August 2021 and pardoned a year later.

The relief for Samsung comes at a time when it is battling a sales slump. The South Korean tech giant recently lost its crown as the world’s top smartphone maker to Apple (AAPL), and has also posted its fourth straight quarter of profit decline, in a sign of how demand for consumer devices and the chips that power them continue to remain sluggish.

During his trial last year, Lee had apologized for the troubles suffered by Samsung and its shareholders as a result of his legal struggle.

“The world is experiencing geopolitical risks, and our country is in the middle of them. Technological innovation is occurring in this world at a faster rate than we can imagine,” Lee had said to the judges.

“I believe that it is necessary to respond pre-emptively to an unpredictable future, and the merger of the two companies was promoted in that regard.”

“In the future, I would like to ask for the opportunity to help Samsung become a truly top-notch company and to focus all my capabilities on moving forward,” he had said

While describing the attackers, He said: "The attackers held AK47 Guns, Pump action guns and daggers, they were many in number.

"It is not true that he disappeared using magical powers.

He only managed to escape and heard the rain of bullets behind him as he ran for safety.

The Akogun of Irele Èkìtì Chief Abejide Kehinde told Irohinoodua the armed men began to settle in the area about 10 years ago.

He said since then, there have been several cases of kidnapping and killings.

An Ikole local government official who does not wish to be named said the killing of the Onikoro of Koro Ekiti, General(rtd) Segun Aremu was not unconnected with his role on resisting the Fulani armed invasion.

Other local sources said Ikoro has been the epicentre for ransome payment.

“When they kidnap people from Edo, Ekiti, Kogi and Ondo, they bring them to the forest at Ikoro where they send for ransoms” Oye Adegbe a native of Egbe and hunter told Irohinoodua.

He recalled that an industrialist from Ayede Èkìtì was kidnapped 10 years ago. He said the Fulani men took the woman to the forest at Ikoro and kept her for three weeks. This was a woman who had started ethanol factory located at Itapaji Ekiti.

He said the factory employed about 50 people.

“The Fulani herdsmen kidnapped her. The chiefs came from Èkìtì to settle the Fulani inside the Ikoro forest. Two indigenes of Ipao Èkìtì, one being a former member of the Èkìtì State House of Assembly were also kidnapped on their way to Abuja.
They brought them to the Ikoro forest.

A Commissioner in Èkìtì State, Folorunso Olabode was also kidnapped. They even shot and killed his aide.

They brought him to Ikoro forest.

The traditional ruler of Obo was shot. The attackers fled to Ikoro forest.

The Ikoro forest is their fortress where they keep large arms.”

He said the Ọba of Ikoro rose against them.

“This might be the reasons why they came against him.

Gunmen, on Thursday evening, invaded Koro town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing the traditional ruler, Onikoro of Koro Kwara, Oba Segun Aremu-Cole.

It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the palace of the monarch around 7 pm, fired gunshots which hit the traditional ruler.

The wife of the monarch was also abducted by the assailants.

Koro Ekiti shares boundary with Egbe, in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The town shares a migration history with Ikoro-Ekiti, (now Headquarters of Eso-Obe Local Council Development Area) in Ijero Local Government Areas of Ekiti State.

This is coming a few days after gunmen killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti State.

The duo – Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area and Elesun of Esun Ekiti in Ajoni, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, were attacked by the gunmen while returning from a security meeting.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who confirmed the attack late Thursday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, condemned the killing of the monarch.

The statement read,

“The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.

“The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable.

“He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.”

Ajakaiye further quoted the governor as saying,

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity.

“My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always”, the statement said.

CrimeEFCC: COURT Jails Nollywood Actress For Naira Abuse, Spraying Of New Naira Notes by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 11:57pm On Feb 01, 2024
A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos presided over by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on Thursday, February 1, 2024, convicted and sentenced one Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, an actress, to six months imprisonment for spraying and stepping on the new Naira notes at a social event in Lagos.

She was first arraigned on February 13, 2023, by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on two-count charges, to which she pleaded “not guilty”.

She was subsequently granted bail on February 15, 2023.

One of the court reads:

“That you, Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin, on the 28th day of January 2023, at Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, whilst dancing during a social occasion tampered with the sum of N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by spraying same in the said occasion and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act, 2007.”

At the resumed hearing on Thursday, Omoseyin, however, changed her “not guilty” plea to “guilty”, in view of the overwhelming evidence against her.

Following her “guilty plea”, the prosecution counsel, Z.B. Atiku called Abubakar Mohammed Marafa, an operative of the EFCC, to review the facts of the matter.

Marafa recalled that,

“the defendant was arrested by officers of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, on February 1, 2023, and was handed over to the Commission on February 2, 2023, for further investigation.“

According to him, the defendant’s statement was taken under caution, where she stated that she attended a friend’s wedding on January 28, 2023, and that she sprayed N200 and N100 Naira notes on the occasion.

“The defendant was processed and the videos of where she sprayed the money was found on her phone. Also, further investigations were carried out and the management of the event centre was invited. They also brought in the video footage of the said event.”

The Prosecution Counsel, thereafter, further applied to tender, in evidence, the letter from the ICPC and other accompanying documents, including the extra-judicial statement of the defendant, forensic report of her phone, a CD of videos showing her spraying the naira note, a flash drive from the event centre together with the statement of the representative of the centre.

Justice Aneke admitted them as exhibits and convicted the defendant, as charged.

The defence counsel, Afuye Adegbola pleaded for leniency, saying,

“She’s a first-time offender; she is a mother of one; she is remorseful and pleads for mercy.”

He further pleaded for a non-custodial sentence on behalf of the convict.

Delivering judgment, Justice Aneke sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment, effective from Thursday, with an option of N300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira only) fine to be paid into the consolidated revenue account of the federation.

Omoseyin bagged her imprisonment when she was arrested by operatives of the ICPC along Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, after the video of her spraying and stepping on the newly redesigned Naira notes at a party surfaced online.

In the viral video, she was also seen flaunting wads of the new Naira notes.

In her statement to the Commission, she claimed that she received the new Naira notes from her fans at the party and that she did not know the persons who gave her the money.

Items recovered from her at the point of arrest include a Range Rover.

PoliticsUNIMAGINABLE Crisis Looms In Osun PDP As AARAJ, Other Chieftains by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 11:00pm On Feb 01, 2024
THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the present ruling party in Osun State with the Executive Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Adeleke as the leader while Sunday Bisi stands as the State Chairman.

As I write this, the party is pretending that all is well like what brought the All Progressive Congress, APC to become opposition party after 12 years in power.

APC in Osun did not see the crisis within its camp as a danger until they were defeated in the last governorship election. PDP is threading the same path of over confidence and pride.

SOJ WORLDWIDE ONLINE NEWS Wins Award Of Excellence

Not too long ago, one of the chieftains of the party and a one time governorship aspirant, Dotun Babayemi held a non-partisan rally tagged; ATUNTO OSUN to help the downtrodden masses in the state, the party top hierarchy condemned the action saying it was an anti-party action. They did not create any room for reconciliation.

Everyone is important to build a formidable party, but to the PDP, anyone can go to hell which was why the likes of Dotun Babayemi is already on his way out anytime from now going by the information at my disposal.  Akin Ogunbiyi who was at a time, a formidable governorship aspirant of the party like Babayemi has joined the opposition party due to uncomplimentary attitude of the ruling party.

Now it is the turn of Engr. Kehinde Raji popularly known as AARAJ, who was once the financial backbone of the party that ensured Senator Adeleke made it to Bola Ige House, Abere.

According to a Press Release by AARAJ, the party, the governor went into agreement before the governorship election.

The party won but failed to honour their own part of the agreement.

According to AARAJ, the four reasons he fell out with Governor Adeleke includes,

-" He won’t be a card carrying member of their Party, PDP.
– His funds which the former Government failed to release would be paid after winning the election
– Aaraj Constructions Ltd will be patronised to cater for the thousands of followers by creating jobs and financial freedom for them.
– His hometown (Osogbo) will be developed infrastructurally and in human capacity."

Bone Of Contention and Mrs Dupe Adeleke's angle, AARAJ said,

"Prior to the Governor’s swearing in, the Project Coordinator of RAMP (Engr Okediya) who was wrongly sacked by the previous government for reasons best known to them was called back based on the directive of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Aaraj took the Project Coordinator to Senator Adeleke for saving the State about 200 millions Naira.

Mr Governor in waiting then appreciated Engr Okediya and instructed AARAJ THRICE to accompany the Project Coordinator back to his office immediately after his swearing in ceremony, this instruction was witnessed by the Project Coordinator, the RAMP accountant and a lady named Folake from RAMP.
Also the interim Party Chairman (Dr Akindele) was sitted, and he was also present on the 28th of November 2022.
On the 30th of November, Chief Mrs Dupe Adeleke (The Governor’s elder sister) phoned Aaraj on the reason why he escorted the sacked Project coordinator. Aaraj explained it was on the instructions of Mr Governor and argument ensured, the conversation ended abruptly. A committee was set up and Engr Okediya was restored till date."

All efforts to get the side of the Chairman of the PDP, Hon Sunday Bisi proved abortive including several calls and a message to him.

The Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Areola refused to pick his calls. All efforts to get his comments proved futile.  The text message sent to him for over a week was not attended to.

It is a known fact that performance and good governance do not win sny election otherwise Oyetola would have won his second term but cohesion, team spirit of the party, ability to carry every loyalists, members of the party along without witch-hunting, this is the keys for a winning formula.

CrimeINSIDE LIFE: HOW United States Based Professor Was Killed In Osun By Local Secu by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 2:06am On Jan 29, 2024
DEATH is a necessary end according to Shakespeare but the time when it will strike, no one knows.  It will when it will.

How would one have thought that the United States based Professor identified as Richard Adeoriokin would meet his untimely death on the occasion of the 50th coronation anniversary celebration of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, HRH, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyosin?

The Chieftain of the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was reportedly shot dead by a local security guard by mistake.  It was a double tragedy in Ejigbo as angry youths descended on the killer until he was pronounced dead.

According to reports, after the event at the king’s residence, Oyeyode Oyesosin, son of the monarch, invited his friends to his house for a brief meeting.

As the guests prepared to leave, he was said to have ordered the security guard to fire gunshots into the air as a farewell gesture.

One of the security guards mistakenly shot Professor Adeoriokin in the leg and he was rushed to the hospital, where he gave up the ghost.

The incident was confirmed by the late Professor’s personal assistant, Afeez Lawal.

“We headed to Ejigbo for the 50th coronation anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo. Immediately, after the event, we were almost set to go back to Osogbo, the king’s son, Oyeyode Oyesosin said we should go to his house along Inisha road for a brief meeting, so those that followed him home Ayodele Asalu, Timothy and Prof Richard.

He gave up the ghost at the Baptist hospital in Ejigbo,” Lawal said.

The local security guard who fired the shot was reportedly mobbed to death after the shooting.

THE Kaduna State Police Command has arrested the kidnap kingpin who allegedly killed Nabeeha, one of the children of Legal Practitioner in Bwari, Abuja last week.

According to Press Release signed by the FPPRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP commended the Divisional Police Officer who rejected One Million Naira bribe.

"The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, on 20th January 2024, have arrested one Bello Mohammed, 28, of Zamfara state, in Kaduna.

The Divisional Police Officer, Tafa Division, acting on intelligence, raided one hotel in Tafa Area, Kaduna, where he arrested Bello, with the sum of #2.25m (Two Million, two hundred and fifty million naira) only, suspected to be proceeds of ransoms collected from kidnapped victims within the area.

The suspect, during interrogation, confessed to be part of the gang that kidnapped the family members of one Barrister Ariyo in Bwari, FCT, on 2nd January 2024, and killed some kidnapped victims, including Nabeeha, f, daughter of the legal practitioner, on 13th January, 2024, in a kidnappers camp, in Kaduna State.

The suspect, in a dramatic situation, offered #1,000,000 (one million naira only) to induce the DPO, who rejected the offer and carried out his duty diligently.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered that the suspect, who also confessed to the involvement of the already five (5) neutralized bandits in Kaduna by the IRT, headed by one Mai Gemu (aka Godara), whose deadly camp has also been destroyed, be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter and arrest of all other culprits responsible for the dastardly act. The suspect is currently helping the police in their investigations.

While commending the DPO Tafa, SP Idris Ibrahim, for the commitment and professionalism displayed in the case, he further assured that the Police would leave no stone unturned in decimating criminally minded individuals and bequeathing to Nigerians a more secure society for all and sundry in our dear country, Nigeria."

CrimeINSIDE LIFE: Bishop Daniel Who Prophesy Tinubu's Arrest On Inauguration Day, E by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 10:46am On Jan 27, 2024
BISHOP Feyi Daniels 'prophesied' before the election that because there was no money to rig the February 25, 2023 presidential election, arrangement will be made with INEC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be announced the winner.

Bishop Daniels said that a rumour will filter around that the election was rigged, this will trigger a revolution worse than the #ENDSARS and Peter OBI will challenge Tinubu's victory at the election tribunal.

And on the day of inauguration of Tinubu as the President, he saw that people are already happy but mocking the Prophets who said Tinubu will not be sworn-in and  suddenly he saw some soldiers who came and Tinubu will be arrested.

It is no longer news that many prophecies never came to pass.  Some said Tinubu will not be sworn-in, some said he will die before the election, some said there would be coup and Prof Yemi Osinbajo will be announced as the Interim President for few months before Peter OBI will be made the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In all of these prophesies, none came to pass until it was announced yesterday that one of those 'Prophets', Bishop Daniels was sent to Life Improvement' for raping his Church members. Lord have mercy.

Commentators on X.com said Bishop Daniel predicted his own predicament.

PoliticsTinubu Answers Atiku's Query On $3.3b Nnpcl Emergency Loan (read Full Text) by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 9:22pm On Jan 26, 2024
AS a follow-up to SOJ WORLDWIDE'S publication on the query issued by the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to explain the position of $3.3 billion emergency external loan by the Federal Government on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, we conclude with answers to the probing questions.

In response to Atiku's Query, Tinubu itemised his response in sequence as requested.

"The Project Gazzelle is such a straightforward deal that I do not expect Alhaji Atiku, who prides his whole political aspirations on being an economic reformer, to fumble the simple numbers behind it.

Talking about the FG owing Nigerians an explanation, Alhaji Atiku is late to the party, as usual, as the presidency had done the needful on explaining the deal to Nigerians few days ago.

For record purposes and to save Alhaji from his self-imposed mystery, here are some explanations to his questions about the conditionalities of the loan in a simpler language.

1. The facility is a forward sales agreement between NNPC limited and an SPV(the buyer) where a predetermined number of barrels of oil is sold in advance at an agreed price.

2. The sales allow the seller (NNPCLtd in this case) to use the received payment to solve critical and urgent problems with forex scarcity as the problem in Nigeria’s case.

3. A lower benchmark is usually adopted as a safe haven for the buyer (the SPV) as oil price tends to remain unstable most times.

4. For repayment, an eventual increase in oil prices will result in the SPV returning all excesses to the seller (NNPCLtd) while the risk which could lead to a rearrangement of the terms is a significant decrease in the agreed price (this case $65 per barrel).

5. Oil has been averaging $70-75 per barrel since the deal was agreed, and if things stay the same way, Nigeria will be getting refunds of excess amounts from the SPV once the payment is concluded.

6. There is a very big chance that the repayment will be concluded before the agreed time if oil prices continue to increase as NNPCL had penned a 90,000 barrel per day which will eventually be calculated at the current prices. Repayment stops when the agreed amount + interest is fully paid and Nigeria may be liable to refunds were there to be excesses.

I hope Alhaji Atiku, being an elder statesman, will allow the financial expert in charge of the country to continue devising innovative ways of funding our expenditures while he surfs his archives for more promising economists who will advice him duly before rushing to make public comments going forward."

CrimeBREAKING: FCT Police Command Reacts To Explosion In Abuja by SojWORLDWIDE(op): 8:21pm On Jan 24, 2024
The FCT Police Command has reacted to reports of an explosion in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory.

In a series of tweets via X.com on Wednesday, some residents attributed the incident to bomb.

But the FCT Police Command in a statement by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the incident was as a result of an overheated metal refuse bin.

“The FCT Police Command hereby wishes to update the public on an alleged explosion on 24/01/2024 at about 1145 hrs, near a refuse dump outside the Bureau of Public Enterprise premises in Maitama, Abuja.”

“A rapid response team and members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was deployed to assess the situation and preliminary findings indicate than an overheated metal refuse container activated under intense heat, exploded, thereby causing injury to two of the refuse evacuator, who are currently receiving medical attention in Maitama General Hospital.

“The FCT Police Command urges members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from using metal refuse bins.

Instead, we recommend the use of plastic or rubber containers for waste disposal, as they pose a reduced risk of incidents related to overheated metal refuse containers,” the statement said.
