Richard Spencer suffered two decades of abuse at the hands of his wife Sheree From an outsider's perspective, Richard Spencer had the perfect life - a successful career on a six-figure salary, living in a large seven bedroom home nestled in a leafy suburb with his wife and their three beautiful young girls.

It was for this reason Police Officers believed they had the wrong home when they initially turned up to the property with a Jaguar parked outside to investigate a potential case of domestic abuse in June 2021.

Yet behind closed doors Richard Spencer, 47, had been suffering from a 20-year long campaign of terror at the hands of his wife Sheree, 46, who would batter and bite him during wine-fuelled tirades.

The former Prison Reform Boss was jailed last year after Richard presented officers with 43 images of his bruised body having secretly recording the incessant abuse on cameras installed to monitor their children at their home in Bubwith, East Yorkshire.

Last night, the brave father-of-three spoke openly about the abuse he suffered at the hands of his wife in the harrowing Channel 5 documentary 'My Wife, My Abuser: The Secret Footage'.

Disturbing clips revealed just a fraction of the torment Richard suffered. On one occasion Spencer is seen holding a knife up to her husband throat as their children are heard crying in the background.

On another, she is seen grabbing his hair and punching him all over while sat on a sofa in the children's nursery, as she calls him a 'fat c***' and a 'lazy b******' for not putting a chicken in the oven.

But the physical abuse only formed part of what a judge later described as one 'the worst cases of coercive control' they had ever seen, with Richard explaining it was the humiliation and verbal abuse he suffered affected him the most.

'Things that affected me more than the physical attacks would be the more demoralising things she would do to me,' he said.


'In the kitchen we would often have a box of 12 or more eggs which she would take over to me and crack over my head or push into my face. She was so angry sometimes that the egg shell would cut into my skin.


'I'd have to go upstairs and shower to get the egg out of my hair and clothes - I would feel hopeless a lot of the time after these things happened.'

Disturbing audio footage played reveals Spencer telling her husband as he washed away the egg shells: 'Keep cleaning you c***. Keep cleaning you dirty b****. Keep scrubbing man, scrub away you b****.'

Richard said 'one of the most demoralising' incidents occurred when his wife ordered him to get off their bed as 'she bought the bed on her credit card'. While he sat on the floor arguing with her, she proceeded to defecate on his head.

On other occasions Spencer would make comments about Richard's late mother - who died from cancer when he was just nine-years-old, causing him to suppress his emotions.

In a bid to try and hurt her husband, who she called a 'robot', Spencer would try and use his childhood trauma to inflict further pain - callously make comments such as 'I hope your sister dies from breast cancer' and 'I hope she's dead'.

Spencer's reign of domestic terror finally ended in June 2021 when the police were called to their family home by a concerned welfare worker.

The couple met in 2000 in a nightclub and married in Thailand in 2009 before having three daughters.

Other audio clips reveal Spencer telling Richard 'The problem in our marriage is because of you', referring to the fact they had to use IVF to conceive.

Spencer tried to portray Richard as the villain in their relationship. At one point during a rage, Spencer smashed a wine bottle over Richard's ear leaving it permanently disfigured.

When he tried to raise with her the pain he was in, she began kicking him in the ear and threatened to smash her face into their bathroom mirror so she could tell a friend or neighbour Richard had caused the injury.

Recalling the conversation, Richard said his wife said: 'And once I've done that, I can get a restraining order against you, so you never see your baby.'

In a depraved bid to portray her husband as the abuser, she went on to shout out of their open bedroom window 'stop it, stop it Richard your hurting me, stop hitting me all the time' in an attempt for neighbours to hear.

Eventually the couple's neighbours became aware of the abusive relationship, with Richard eventually opening up about his wife's behaviour following a BBQ next door that Spencer interrupted to order the children to go to bed.

Richard had been attending the party alone with the three girls when suddenly his wife had popped up over the fence to make the demand. When he returned he began speaking about the situation.

Recalling one incident, the couple's neighbour Pip Williams told the documentary: 'I think she had asked him to go to the shop, get wine or something, and he hesitated and looked at her. She then picked up a carving knife and slashed the car tyres.

Footage showed furious wine-fuelled tirades, in which Sheree would call her husband 'fat boy,' 'a pussy' and 'dumb dumb' and inflict bruises and scratches.

'There was another awful story when the three little girls were in the back of the car, Sheree was in the driving seat, and she kicked the wingmirror and then proceeds to wee on the seat and said sort that out.'

Throughout the programme, Richard said his wife had tried to involve their daughters in their arguments, telling them claim they were 'afraid of daddy'.

One clip showed her clutching one of the young girls, telling her 'he's a horrible, horrible man and we'll get rid of him soon'.

On other occasions Richard said she would tell their eldest child to tell the neighbours 'daddy's hitting mummy' or that 'daddy's a nasty man'.

PC Adele Jenkinson of Humberside Police Criminal Investigation Department said during the programme that if the abuse had not been played out in front of his children, the father would not have voiced the abuse.

'I believe he even told me once, had she left the abuse behind closed doors form their children, had she kept it separate he would not have got anyone else involved as he felt like he was handling it and controlling it.

'He could put up with abuse if he got the family life he wanted and he felt like he deserved. So he was happy, to an extent, continue their dysfunctional family, if it meant he had a family to go home to.'

The Officer said he only collected the evidence in order to protect his young girls.

Spencer, 46, was jailed for four years for making her husband Richard's life a living hell with daily beatings and verbal attacks that left him cowering on the floor in a foetal position

Richard, now happily settled with a new partner, decided to take part in the Channel 5 documentary to help other abused men speak out.

Throughout the programme, bodycam footage from officer's showed the moment they arrived at the Yorkshire home to interview Spencer over the images of domestic abuse they had seen.

When Spencer was taken to the Police Station, clips appeared to show the mother-of-three more concerned about not being spotted by neighbours as she clambered into the back of the officer's van.

'Can you shove me in before anyone sees me,' she asks as she climbs into the vehicle.

Officers later claimed that Spencer was more concerned about whether her husband had packed her straighteners in her overnight bag following her interview and did not ask questions about her children's whereabouts.

Throughout the interview she accused her husband of being a 'drunk' and 'violent towards her' accusing him of pushing her on the floor and claiming the bite marks were made while the couple were having sex.

When probed by officers on the nanny-cam footage that showed her clutching a 'carving knife', Spencer said she 'went to push him [Richard] back'.

Richard felt his harrowing experiences should be seen to raise awareness of the type of abuse men can suffer in their daily lives at the hands of violent partners.

The officer presses on: 'You've got a knife in your hand, what are you doing pushing him with a knife in your hand? So you must know exactly what's happening here. Could you explain that to me please?'

Spencer says:

'I wanted to give him it because he had threatened me, that he wanted to kill me, he'd rather kill me than divorce me. And I did reach for a knife - if he wants to kill me, just do it.'

Officers said Spencer went into autopilot as she explained the scenario - she was saying 'I was saying I wanted to die and I was giving Richard the knife and saying you're going to have to kill me because I can't live like this any more'.

MailOnline previously revealed that Spencer had gone through desperate lengths at the courts to try and prevent the documentary from being broadcast.

But Richard felt his harrowing experiences should be seen to raise awareness of the type of abuse men can suffer in their daily lives at the hands of violent partners but Sheree tried to block it.

He told MailOnline:

'Sheree tried to stop the documentary being broadcast in the Crown Court but failed, then she applied for a prohibited steps order through the family court, which luckily was rejected and thrown out at the first hearing.
'The broadcast has been delayed due to the legal challenges for about six months, but now it is finally going to be shown. I'm hopeful that the film will be well received and will make a difference.'

Hull Crown Court heard that mother-of-three Spencer had carried out most of the attacks on her husband in the family home.

Spencer worked at the highest levels for HM Prison and Probation Service and bragged to friends that she had the ear of former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

She was a Project Manager in the department's directorate of strategy and performance.

A former friend said: 'She would brag about being only two down from the Prime Minister in her field and had meetings with Boris Johnson, who she spoke of as though he were a friend.

'She was bragging about her high flying career while subjecting her poor husband, a lovely man, to daily abuse, degradation and humiliation.'

It was described as 'a great irony' that Spencer had done so much work aimed at investigating the effect of custodial sentences on the family.

FORMER Spokesman of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South East East and the current Chairman of Forum of former members of Enugu State House of Assembly (FOF-MENHA, Dr. Josef ONOH
has advised the Okuama Community in Delta State to provide the suspects who killed soldiers that were on peace mission in the community within 24 hours.


Onoh said that the suspects were not militants but well-known members of the community, and no such atrocious cruel assassinations of our brave and gallant officers could have been carried out without the active participation of the entire community.


By implication, it would be in the best interest of the community to surrender them to the Federal Government.

He also faulted the Amnesty International for it's inability to condemn the dastardly act where Nigeria security agents on peace-keeping mission were slaughtered and dicapitated like rams by natives for no good cause.


Onoh said that the killings was not just a communal clash but a threat to peaceful coexistence and internal security of the Nation.


The people of Okuama community committed atrocious and willful slaughtering of our gallant officers of the Nigerian Army and their actions are worse than what was witnessed during the Civil War.


Even at the point of the civil war they showed respect for fallen soldiers. They have not only assaulted the Nigerian Army but they have declared war on Nigeria and every single Nigerian.

Our brave men and women of the Army and all sister enforcements agencies were not trained to be slaughtered like rams. They have sowed the wind and must reap the whirlwind.


The aftermath of EndSARS ushered a new generation of criminals that went on a rampage killing Police Officers without reason and until we say enough is enough, we all will be at their mercy.


He also wondered why there is always a case of civilian population striking against the security agents whenever a Southerner becomes the Nigeria President, citing the case of the Odi massacre during the Olusegun Obasanjo regime, President Jonathan's regime and now President Bola Tinubu’s regime.


But I promise those characters that have contributed to undermine the Tinubu led administration that we learnt from the mistakes of the Jonathan's administration and I assure them that this nation isn't Haiti.


We will not negotiate with terrorist from any quarters but we will ensure that the sovereignty and unity of Nigeria remains intact at all cost.


Let me remind the Chief of Army Staff that earlier this year Israel Defense Forces, IDF had launched a retaliation and investigation into the "disaster" that led to the deaths of 21 soldiers in Gaza. The rest is history.

IN February, the United States began strikes to retaliate for drone attack that killed 3 American Soldiers in Iraq and Syria against Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups.


The Biden administration called it a "multi-tiered" response to a deadly drone attack that killed three American soldiers.

U.S. forces struck more than 85 targets associated with the IRGC's elite Quds Force and affiliated militias. Hence I urge the Nigerian army to respond accordingly.


In 2016, France retaliated for killing of its troops in Libya with intense raids, airstrikes were conducted by French warplanes in Jilidiya District.


"The airstrikes were in retaliation for the killing of 2 French Special Forces troops in the helicopter downing in Magrun.

Finally no ethnic group from any quarter in Nigeria can distabilise the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Enough is enough!


We must learn the necessary lessons and do everything to preserve the lives of our brave men and women of our Armed Forces," it's time to return the favour and restore sanity.


It's time to protect the lives and properties of innocent Nigerians and residents, it's time to put an end to acts of sabotage against the administration of President Bola Tinubu and if wisdom and caution isn't applied by these disgruntled elements, be rest assured that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led administration will prove to these characters that Nigeria is not Haiti!

ON April 10, 1985, history was made, that was the day three Cocaine Pushers were executed by the military regime headed by General Muhammadu Buhari despite public outcry for the administration to rescind their decision.

The global plea was hinged on the fact the accused had committed the offence before the Decree (20) was enacted, yet Buhari turned a deaf ear until they were executed by firing squad.

The three Nigerian men were  convicted of illegal possession of cocaine and heroin were tied to the stakes and publicly executed by a military firing squad outside the Kirikiri Prison.

They were the first Nigerians executed under Decree 20 of the military regime that launched a crackdown on crime and corruption after it seized power in a coup on December 31, 1983.

The decree makes drug handling and oil bunkering punishable by death.


Bartholomew Azubike Owoh, 26, a former employee of Nigeria Airways, Lawal Akanni Ojuolape, 30, a spare parts dealer, and Bernard Ogedengbe, a 29-year-old sailor, were condemned separately by a Military Tribunal in December 1984 and the sentences were confirmed by the government.

A woman, Gladys Iyama, 34, was  sentenced to death for possessing 15.3 grams of cocaine but the government did not give its final decision although it has said women convicts would be treated the same as men.

Witnesses at the execution outside the maximum security Kirikiri Prison in a Lagos suburb said the condemned men were tied to a stake and shot to death by a firing squad from the Nigerian Army's 9th Mechanized Brigade.

The executions started at 8:30 a.m. and were over five minutes later when the bodies were loaded into rough coffins and driven away. It was not clear if the authorities surrendered the bodies to their families for burial.

Nigerian reporters said they were allowed to talk to the condemned men shortly before the execution but said only Ojuolape, who has four children, and was convicted of possessing 1.238 kilograms of cocaine, expressed remorse.

"I am eating the fruit of my misdeed ... It was my first time out on the cocaine business but I was caught," he was reported as saying.

Ogedengbe, caught with 207 grams of heroin in a detergent packet on arrival at Lagos airport from India, claimed,

"I was not convicted beyond all reasonable doubt. God giveth life and he taketh," according to the reports.

Owoh, who was caught with heroin on his return from Brazil, protested that he committed the offense before the military made drug handling a capital offense and had been given provisional liberty by the Police.

"It has happened but I pray to God to forgive this people (the military regime).


If I knew I would die for the offense I could have left the country after I was first given Police bail," he was quoted as saying.


Bernard Ogedengbe (age 29), Bartholomew Owoh (age 26) and Lawal Ojuolape (age 30) tied to the stake before their execution by Maj-Gen Buhari's administration.



The execution of these young men met with controversy because their drug related offences occurred before the Buhari administration came to power.

Maj-Gen Buhari backdated Decree 20 which stipulated the death penalty for drug related offences and the trio were unable to escape the executioners' bullets.

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu’s former Spokesman in the South East and current Chairman of Forum of former members of Enugu State House of Assembly (FOF-MENHA), Dr. Josef Onoh has commended the Federal Government’s conversion of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu to a full-fledged Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Enugu.

It was established in 1955 in Lagos as the Federal School of Dental Technology and Hygiene, Training Dental Technicians and Hygienists.

It became the Federal School of Dental Technology and Therapy in 1978, with the larger goal of training Dental Technologists and Therapists.

The school moved to its present location Enugu in 1982. And is funded by the Federal Government.

The President on Thursday, March 14, 2024 gave the approval, upgrading the College from a Diploma to Degree awarding institution, noting that the upgrade comes amid ongoing Health reforms which would see the Federal Government train 120,000 frontline Health Workers nationwide within 16 months.

Reacting to the development, Onoh stated that President Tinubu has by that approval met the aspiration of the founding fathers of Enugu State and shown his administration’s interest in the South East development initiatives.

According to Onoh, the milestone is an honour and a breakthrough of interest in keeping to Tinubu’s campaign promises to the people of the South East at the Michael Okpara Square in Enugu which he campaigned in the region before the 2023 presidential election.

“By upgrading the Enugu Dental college to a university, President Tinubu has not only shown that he is bringing Federal presence to the South East since after the civil war, but it’s also a commendable testament of the vision of a pragmatic Nigeria leader,” Onoh said.

He recalled that even though the South East, particularly Enugu State, did not cast as many votes for the election of President Tinubu, Tinubu nevertheless has confirmed his promise to be a President for all without discrimination.

“The South East has been in lack of Federal presence since after the civil war and this act as demonstrated by the President is a bold step given that since the return of democracy the South East has been in lack of Federal presence. I commend Mr. President for using my own State as the first State and we are grateful. We urge Mr. President to do more.”

He also affirmed the aggressive development in the State being carried out by the Gov. Peter Mbah led administration which is aimed at placing Enugu in the forefront of investment destination in Nigeria and any Federal Government support and investment in Enugu State is guaranteed.

He however made a case for the Federal Government to intervene in bringing to life the abandoned Digital Bridge Institute, constructed by the Federal Ministry of Communications in Enugu, which he said has been rotting away since its completion and equipment along Enugu-Ugwogo Road at Ibagwa-Nike, Enugu.

Onoh said that World Class Communication Academy has been left to desolate for over ten years since it was completed and equipped but has not taken off, making the equipped institution to rot and decay when it should be adding to the development of Nigerians in Information and Communication Technology.

“There are other Federal Government facilities in Enugu State that have been abandoned to decay, such as the old site of the University of Nigeria Teaching University Hospital (UNTH).

The Federal Secretariat in Enugu is looking like a students’ hostel. It has remained the same since the administration of Ibrahim Babaginda built it. These facilities are all begging for attention and implore Mr. President to intervene in bringing life to these institutions, a testament to our Renew Hope promise we made to Nigerians” Onoh pleaded.

THE first Premier of Western Region of Nigeria, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment along with others for allegedly planning a coup against Nigeria.

When the military took over power on January 15, 1966, late General Aguiyi-Ironsi became the Head of State. Awolowo was said to have written a petition to Ironsi for his release.

There has been controversy on who actually released Awolowo from prison between General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi and Lt. Colonel Yakubu Gowon.

While some argued that it was Gowon, not many knew that Aguiyi-Ironsi had worked for his release but could not effect it because he along with Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi were assassinated on the day Awolowo was to be released.  Gowon claimed the glory over Aguiyi-Ironsi.

"Awolowo petitioned the new Head of State, General J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi asking that he be released along with his lieutenants who were also serving various jail terms across the country.

Ironsi was sympathetic and so was the military Governor of the West, Lt. Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi.

But Luis Edet, the Inspector General of Police, IGP advised against it claiming that Awolowo may have known about the bloody coup that took the lives of his bitterest enemies including Akintola, Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, the Premier of the Northern Region, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa, the Prime Minister and Chief Festus Okoti-Eboh, the Minister of Finance.

But Ironsi insisted on releasing Awolowo and his men. He conceded to Edet that security precautions should be taken about his release.

Therefore, he instructed that Awolowo should be moved first from Calabar to Ikoyi Prison in Lagos.

A modernized cell was prepared for him, putting him under house arrest was also considered. On July 27, 1966, Mr. Olu Olofin, the Editor of Irohin Yoruba brought a message from Colonel Fajuyi to Awolowo in Calabar that the Supreme Military Council had approved his petition and that he will be released very soon. The following morning, the one-engine Plans was dispatched to Calabar to fetch Awolowo.

But he declined to travel in a single engine plane.

On July 29, 1966, another bigger Plane was sent to Calabar, a two-engine Plane, however, on that fateful day Ironsi and Fajuyi were kidnapped in Ibadan and subsequently assassinated.

The Pilot who flew to Calabar could not carry out his assignment. In view of the National crisis, instead, Mr. Luis Edet ordered his arrest and the Pilot was thrown into Enugu Prison.

Awolowo too remained behind bars for three days after Ironsi and Fajuyi were assassinated, Nigeria had no government.


Finally, on August 1, 1966 the coup makers installed Lt. Colonel Yakubu Gowon as the new Head of State.

He was Ironsi's Chief of Army Staff and therefore was privy to the Supreme Council decision.

Two days after he came to power on August 3, 1966, Gowon signed the Executive Order releasing Awolowo from Calabar Prison in the then Eastern Region (now capital of Cross River State) where he had been held for many months.

It was in that Prison that Awolowo wrote his seminal book, "Thoughts On The Nigerian Constitution."

Though he had prayed and hoped for the freedom, when it came, it took Awolowo almost by surprise because he was not expecting Gowon to act so fast.

He was met early in the morning by the Prison Governor who read to him the proclamation of his freedom.

He was then driven to the Airport and flown to Lagos when he met the new Head of State, Gowon for the first time.

It was a warm encounter. Everything was happening so fast."

THAILAND Police have arrested a Nigerian suspected drug dealer who cried in detention after he was caught with a substance suspected to be cocaine in his possession.

The man who was once a Civil Servant, according to his narration, resigned appointment to go into farming to cater for his family but that was not to be as the herdsmen destroyed over an acre of farmland planted with Plaintain.


He added that he borrowed over One Million Naira expecting to harvest the rewards of his hard labour before the farmland was destroyed on March 4, 2024.


He called on the Governor of Ekiti State and the Federal Government to intervene on his matter before it too late for him.

ARCHEOLOGISTS in Turkey say they have discovered the world’s oldest known bread, dating back to 6600 BC.

A largely destroyed oven structure was found in an area called “Mekan 66,” where there are adjoining mudbrick houses, at the archeological site of Çatalhöyük in the southern Turkish province of Konya, according to Turkey’s Necmettin Erbakan University Science and Technology Research and Application Center (BİTAM).

Around the oven, archeologists found wheat, barley, pea seeds and a palm-sized, round, “spongy” residue, it said in a press release Wednesday.


Analyses determined that the organic residue was 8,600-year-old, uncooked, fermented bread.

“We can say that this find at Çatalhöyük is the oldest bread in the world,” archeologist Ali Umut Türkcan, head of the Excavation Delegation and an associate professor at Anadolu University in Turkey, told Turkish state news outlet Anadolu Agency Wednesday.

“It is a smaller version of a loaf of bread. It has a finger pressed in the center, it has not been baked, but it has been fermented and has survived to the present day with the starches inside. There is no similar example of something like this to date,” he added.

Scanning electron microscope images showed air spaces in the sample, with the sighting of starch grains “eliminating our suspicions,” biologist Salih Kavak, a lecturer at Gaziantep University in Turkey, said in the release.


He added that analyses uncovered chemicals found in plants and indicators of fermentation. Flour and water had been mixed in, with the bread having been prepared next to the oven and kept for a while.

“It is an exciting discovery for Turkey and the world,” Kavak said.

The organic matter – both wood and bread – was preserved by thin clay that covered the structure, according to Türkcan.

Çatalhöyük, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, was home to approximately 8,000 people during the Neolithic period, between around 10,000 BC to 2,000 BC, and is one of the world’s first places of urbanization, according to BITAM.

Research at the well-preserved site has revealed distinctive housing layouts and extensive features such as wall paintings and reliefs – causing it to be considered “the most significant human settlement documenting early settled agricultural life of a Neolithic community,” according to the UNESCO website.

“Çatalhöyük was already the center of many firsts. The world’s first weavings were already in Çatalhöyük when it was excavated. Wooden artifacts were also in Çatalhöyük. Wall paints and paintings were added to this. Konya and Turkey are very lucky in this sense,” Türkcan said

A Nigerian Lady based in the United Kingdom (UK) identified as Chidimma Susan Ezenyili aka Suzy was reportedly collapsed on duty and died two days later.

She allegedly collapsed while on duty in the street of Bishop’s Stortford.

Ezenyili who was a Lawyer in Nigeria was tendering an elderly woman, Ian Hale in Scott Road, but a report said she was not feeling well herself but managed to work before her collapse on the fateful day.


Ezenyili and her husband, Friday left Nigeria in August 2023, to go and work as caregivers on sponsorship visas to give their toddler daughter Mandy a better life.

The 37-year-old migrated to the UK and had been caring for the 86-year-old Hale for the past five months.

Hale’s daughter, Catherine Segal, said, “She (Ezenyili) was driven there by her husband with their three-year-old daughter as she wasn’t feeling well but didn’t want to let my dad down.”

When Segal recounted the incident, she said the caregiver collapsed on Thursday, February 22, and stopped breathing and did not have a pulse.

“Naturally, her husband started shouting for help. The neighbourhood raced to help. Myself and my husband ran outside along with our next-door neighbour and our neighbour from across the road,” Segal said.


Segal further said, “We had two GoodSAM first responders arrive shortly after to assist. The community first responder along with several ambulances, police and the critical care team arrived to take over attempts to save her life and were successful in getting her on life support in the ambulance.”

The caregiver was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where doctors at the neurosciences critical care unit discovered she had suffered a severe brain haemorrhage.

Segal and Ezenyili’s manager from Harlow-based Care at Hand Ltd, Elisha Newberry, went to the hospital with Friday to support him.

In his narration, Segal’s husband, Saul said, “Sadly, life support was turned off two days later, on February 24, and she passed with her husband by her side.”

But Segal said, “Suzy came here as a carer to fill a need in our community. She was qualified in law in Nigeria and was planning to attain her qualifications to practise law here after her sponsorship as a carer finished.

“She was a really good carer. Kind, considerate and always willing to help no matter what the circumstances.

“Her dream was for her daughter, Mandy, to attend school in the UK and to make a new life here where she would have the opportunities that Suzy and Friday never had growing up in Nigeria.”

If I were President of Nigeria at this time when the country is bitterly divided as a result of the #NigerianElections2023 and the removal of fuel subsidy, as well as the flotation of the Naira, I would not take my children on an official business trip overseas.

The only reason I would not do that is because the optics would look bad, and I would be playing into the hands of my political opponents and hostile media, which have taken a business decision to oppose my administration to appease their base in preparation for the next election.


Having said that, legally, there is nothing wrong with it. Please fact-check me: As Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher took her son, Mark Thatcher, to overseas UK Business summits. Sir Mark Thatcher is a businessman, as is Seyi Tinubu. Also, fact-check me: President Obasanjo similarly took his son, Gbenga, on a business summit while he was President. Gbenga is also a legitimate businessman.

The current U.S. President, Joe Biden, took his son, Hunter Biden, on a business summit in China while he was Vice President.

And President Trump even made his daughter and her husband his advisers, who frequently travelled with him to business and political summits.

The trip to Qatar was publicly billed as a business summit, for which Nigerian businesses were meant to collaborate with Qatari companies.


In fact, some critics even mocked the Tinubu administration when a letter leaked that the "Business Summit" aspect of the trip had been cancelled. Which turned out to be a lie.

I was surprised that one journalist today asked on live TV what Seyi Tinubu does for a living. I may or may not like Seyi Tinubu. That journalist himself may or may not like Seyi Tinubu.

But to ask what Seyi Tinubu does puts a question mark on your status as a journalist. This is a young man who is involved in multiple known businesses.

And to the President's credit, he very publicly kicked Seyi Tinubu out of a Federal Executive Council meeting and warned him never to attend again, because that was not a business summit. That was a government meeting.

Other than the fact that Nigeria is currently very divided, and the President should have avoided fire, being that he is covered in petrol, what he did is not wrong at all.

THE Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, arrested 21 trucks loaded with foodstuffs and non-food items heading towards N’djamena, Chad Republic, Central African Republic and Cameroon.

The trucks were intercepted in a sting operation at major exit routes along Kalabiri/Gamboru Ngala and Bama roads, Borno State.

Investigation showed food items cleverly concealed in the trucks that would have gone undetected but for the eagle-eyed vigilance of operatives of the Commission.


Further checks showed that the Waybills covering the goods carried by trucks indicated their destinations as N'djamena, Chad Republic, Central African Republic and Cameroon respectively.

The arrest of the trucks is expected to stem the tide of food insecurity occasioned by unscrupulous antics of smugglers across the country.


Suspects arrested with the trucks are being profiled and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

IN the viral video on social media a suspected smuggler was heard threatening a Custom Officer who allegedly seized his smuggled goods.

An Investigative Journalist, Fisayo Soyombo narrated the scene in the video via his official X.com available to SOJ WORLDWIDE,


"In these @fijnigeria videos, IBD Dende, the most notorious smuggler in the South West, can be seen threatening to kill a Customs officer who seized his smuggled goods.

The officer he would have harmed had he not been restrained is an Assistant Superintendent of Customs.

Some puzzling points about these videos:

1.Despite wielding guns, all the Customs officers in the footage can be seen pacifying Dende. Why? Same trigger-happy Customs? "All the Customs officers with guns you see in those videos are his boys," one source told FIJ.

2.Dende can also be seen bragging: “Ejigbunu is the one I called.” “Ejigbunu bring it [the smuggled goods] in. ‘Ejigbunu’ here is Hussein Ejigbunu, Comptroller, Federal Operations Unit Zone A. FIJ previously highlighted his role in the smuggling of unchecked items, including terrorist bicycles and tramadol, into northern Nigeria.


3. Dende can be seen ordering the receiver at the other end of the phone: “Call Wale, call Wale.” The said 'Wale' is Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and current Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC)!


4. Dende questioned the Customs officer for not stopping their bosses’ trailers of rice being smuggled in from Seme. Confirms what I’ve always said: senior Customs officers are among Nigeria’s biggest smugglers."

President Bola Tinubu says his administration is working to ensure that Nigeria is reformed for greater efficiency with a particular emphasis on systematically inculcating fairness and equity in all aspects of the national life.

Addressing Afenifere leaders at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, Ondo State, on Wednesday, the President emphasized his commitment to leading Nigeria towards economic and social prosperity.

''Nigeria will survive the current economic challenges. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I requested the job, and I am not complaining about it. I take full responsibility.

''We are meeting our obligations to the international community. To lenders, we have not defaulted, and we are not going to default. We are navigating the twists and bends on the road to Nigeria’s prosperity,'' the President affirmed.

President Tinubu said his task will be to ensure fiscal and true Federalism, as well as the broad-based manifestation of the philosophy of "what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."

He acknowledged the understanding and support of all Nigerians in the face of the tough but temporary economic conditions, assuring them that their patience and perseverance will not be fruitless.

"The economic challenges we have endured since assuming office are not new to me. As the former Governor of Lagos State, I faced similar calls for my resignation. But, through perseverance, Lagos emerged as the fifth largest economy in the entire continent of Africa. We must manage this moment with wisdom and grow Nigeria responsibly.


"I campaigned for this office to serve Nigeria's interests, and I was elected. Some said I would not last in the tribunal and came up with all sorts of predictions, but even when in court, I remained focused.

"We cannot allow Nigeria's economy to be exploited. We cannot abandon our economy to marauders. I am determined to re-engineer our finances and curb selfish interests permanently," he stated.

Speaking on behalf of Afenifere, Pa Olu Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), who read the address of Pa Fasoranti, commended President Tinubu for his commitment to Nigeria's progress and expressed support for his administration's efforts.


"You have kept your word to return to this place where we all prayed for you, and this shows that you are a man of your word," the elder statesman stated.

Pa Fasoranti asked President Tinubu to be fair and courageous, declaring that such traits were the hallmark of the Afenifere family.
