i am at the uni gwags campus as i type this. The school messed up this time. They should have transfered these boys to other uni. This is so possible because jonathan himself was directly interested in this isssue. He should have used his influence to transfer the students. Givin 2bn naira to put inplace infrastructure in 6months isnt realistic.
Christianity EtcRe: What Are The “tongues Of Angels” In 1 Corinthians 13:1? by solbil: 9:25am On Nov 19, 2012
when we raise questions like "what are all these things you say when you speak in tongues?", christians are quick to point us to 1cor 14:1-2. But isnt it interesting that we no longer hear the "tongues of men" today? Cristians are so quick to point to the "he that speaks in tongues speaks not to man..." verse so as to cover up their falsehood.

PoliticsRe: Shouldn't Every Nigerian Be Entitled To A Monthly Allowance? by solbil: 11:34am On Nov 17, 2012
i think what the govt should do is to save that money for the nigeria and give it to him after his youth service. By then, it would have acumulated to over a million naira. That is enough for any graduate to start something meaningful. When you do this, you will be killing two birds with a stone. First, you will be encouraging citizens to go to seek knowledge and secondly, you will be solving poverty

giving handouts to citizens every month isnt the way out. If you give one million to the youth after his education and he doesnt know what to do with it, he should as well go and die! Give handouts to the elderly only. Anything aside that is nonsense

some people saying north has no forest. I can see you people are the most dump people on earth. When has forest become synonymous with adventure? You honestly think there can be no adventure in the grassland and semi desert where there is wild life?

An ultimate search in the north's grassland will by far more intrigueing than any one you held in the creeks and under the shrubs.

The north is by far more blessed when it comes to tourism potential. If you think Obudu is heaven because of the land form, why dont you wait till you get to mambila to see land forms. Although mambila is not developed yet.
TV/MoviesRe: Why Hasn't Gulder Ultimate Search Been Hosted In The North? by solbil: 12:13pm On Nov 14, 2012
those of you saying jos is not north are either ignorant or are igbo losers who are still suffering from the defeat of the civil war and see anything north as something to be faught (no insult intended. Just cannot find any other word to clearly express myself without doing harm to what i want to pass across). If you use to have a false idea of what the north is, thats your problem! You people think the north is hausa/fulani/kanuri islam. But thats not true!

I am from benue and i see myself as northerner. There were two protectorates: the north and south. Since jos and benue were not part of the south, then it is in the north! Although we have differences with the hausas and fulani muslims, we are still northerners. There is nothing like the mid-belt. The term north central is better. I know you dont want it to be true, but it is! Swallow it. Yes, it's bitter.

@msauza, no one is living in denial. You dont live in the country so you dont know how unpopular the nigeria state is among nigerians. I tell you; NO ONE in nigeria will tell you we are a giant. Its only few of us. This is somethingyou can even verify on this site. You have people come here and call nigeria names like shithole etc.

Listen to the bbcs programme on our 50th independence anniversary, and come to see that nigerians are completely broken. Listen to the radio and hear every one talk about situation of things. No one is inspired at all. I am not exaggerating.

I really have to end it here becos this is becoming toxic for me. So bye.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 8:53pm On Nov 12, 2012
msauza knows nothing about our support for the ANCs and black people in SA. He doest know we gave scholarship to black SAs to study in our federal govt colleges and unis. He deosnt know that we employed your professors in our unis. He doesnt know that civil servants salaries were cut so that money could be donated into your strugles. We did all these yet he calls our support "partisan". Msauza, what you have done is unaceptable level of ungreatfulness.

You claim our support is for the ANC like the struggle against apartheid is not to the benefit of all SAs, blacks, whites, indians alike.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 8:03pm On Nov 12, 2012
its like all msauza knows about naija is the stereotype and nonsense he hears and sees on tv. So he is no longer proud of his country (according to him). But let me tell you; NIGERIA is by far bigger than you think. Our greatness did not come at the amalgamation or independence. It dates back into pre colonial times. We are home to several empires, kingdoms and republic civilizations that have proved the bias european explorers wrong about their notion of the black man. From Oyo to benin, Ife, sokoto caliphate, kanem bornu to the jukun, igala and nupe kingdoms, we have proved that the black man is not a "10 year old european only dirtier" but a man capable of something so sublime and aesthetic in philosophy, art, agriculture, government, religion, science and technology.

I simply do not have the time to continue to tell you of our great ness you just pick up materials and do a lil bit of edu then come to realise that we are not just "number" like you all claim we are but that we are truely a giant! I know you wish it wasnt so. But it is true.

Msauza: . Point of correction, Nigeria never helped South Africa by any means. This is just misconception that had been spinning around the heads of Nigerians for many years and this fallacy needs to be corrected. Remember that South Africa under apartheid was a wealthy nation that needed no any financial support from any country. Despite being sanctioned for many years, it continued to sustain itself by developing its own military weapons without importing any from other countries. In fact, SA under a white rule was more wealthier than it is today and was a dream land for every white people in the world. That's why many Jews, Greeks, English and Portuguese relocated to SA during this era as it was a land of milk and honey for white people. To be more exact, Nigeria financially helped the ANC(SA political party) across the borders, after it was banned by the SA apartheid government and having many of its members arrested for treason. ANC members outside the borders of SA needed financial support to cater for their day to day needs in order to keep the struggle going. They requested financial support from many countries including Nigeria and their main financial providers being Britain and Russian. Russia provided them military training while Britain educated many of them including Mbeki( the former SA president) and now AU chairlady Nkosazana Zuma. Just check the profiles of many SA ministers, majority of them are foreign educated while they were in exile.
i give up. But pls know more about our role in you strugle.

Msauza: . @Solbil. I was born of a SA mother and Nigerian father. I have both or dual citizenship of SA and Nigeria, so I did not come to stumble to this forum by accident. It was suggested to me by my Nigerian friend, as I was always complaining about slow service delivery and infrastructural development in Nigeria as compared to South Africa.
i have never been to SA before and i wouldnt mind to go there. But nigeria is one country you can be soo proud of. As for infrastructures, i dont know if you have been to nigeria before. But you can see "lagos ,nigeria. Africa you dont see on tv" on youtube.

PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 9:17pm On Nov 11, 2012
@msauza, this thread isnt about naija/SA. Its about a report we are not suppose to take without careful analysis of facts. I first saw this report sometime ago and i cared less who wrote it. But i wast surprised when i learnt it was written by a ghanaian. These people actually wished they were in our shoes.

Want to know why we get sooo offended when we hear other africans talk us down? We have giving so much to these people in cash and kind without taking anything in return. There is no country in africa especially sub saharan that we have not helped in a way or two. Even you country SA.we have never braged about it becos what we do, we do for gods sake. We are mentioning it now becos people just have this anti nigeria sentiment.when we are being hit, you are not going to expect us not to defend ourselves.

SA is becoming more visible on the continent to day and thats a good thing! But with so much respect to all other africans, no one has given close to the 10bn dollar we have given from 1960-2010 and so many men we lost in the process!

It is common knowledge that since the time of slavery, the black mans image was rubbished. But with our effort , at least, we have brought some sanity. Does this meanother africans are not doing anything? No! I know of what ugandans and burundi are doing in the horn. I also know of the botswanas and their exemplary govt. I know of thee SAs about what they are doing to bridge the gap between races. Bt if there is one who believes so much in the continent, its nigeria.

We havelped others but have not recieved help from anyone yet. So you can understand it how we feel when when other africans want to look down at us.

ocelot2006: Seriously, did you just mention the Ethiopians? The same Ethopians that got their collective asses handed to them by Al-Shabaab in Somalia? The very same group that are currently being trashed by the Ugandans, Kenyans, and even little Burundi?! Haba.

As for North Africa, pls don't even mention Libya, cos the old Libyan army got its bum whooped by the Chadians during the disastrous Pick-up War in the 80s. As for Algeria, yes they own a quite sophisticated and experienced army. 'don't really know about the Moroccans and Tunisians. The Egyptians also own a strong armed force that were quite successful against the Isrealis during the Yom Kippur war.
some people will mention libya forgeting that gadafi purposely held down the strength of his military so much so that when the uprising started, it was sticks that the locals in benghazi used to chase out the soldiers.

Phillone: Just curious...does the nigerian army have da air'force and navy?
Cos i tend to realise they rely more on land soldiers
we have an air force and navy. You can google it yourself. The navy just comissioned a war ship it built itself. The reason you hear more about the army is that, most of the missions we engage in are land based. Of our military our amy is the largest followed ny the navy and airforce in that order. We, like every other country build our military based on the kind of threats we have. The kind of threats we have are more land and water based. But the airforce is no push over. They made their UAVs. The amebo I and II they also have their f-7s. 15 of them. Gogle the NAF for more info.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 3:04pm On Nov 11, 2012
for those people rubbishing our millitary for "killing unarmed civiliance" ,why dont you google "my lai massacre of march 16th 1968" and tell me what the americans did in the vietnam village? 504 civiliance were massacred by the US army and the worst thing was that; it was reported to the world as a US victory against the enemy. It was later the world got to know the truth. And even at first, the were saying it was just 22 civilians that were killed.

But no, people here will see that and not say the US soldiers are indisciplined. But when the nigerian soldiers are "alleged" to do it, then they are the most indisciplined people on earth.

My doubt of this report is not based on "blind patriotism" but on facts. Fact that we can easily get when we stop being lazy and do a bit more research.

If after reading this, you still continue to raise the "they are not disciplined becos they kill civilians" then we can describe you as being lowly esteemed.

duni04: You definitely don't live in Nigeria. The Nigerian Army we know of and see everyday on our streets extorting innocent people and fighting with policemen is the Nigerian Army the report is describing. The same Nigerian Army that is still battling with Normads and cattle rearers with bows and arrows in Jos. Its the same Nigerian Army that still cannot contain oil bunkering in the Niger Delta. The same Nigerian Army soldiers that small boys with AK-47's and home made bombs are killing with so much ease in Bornu and Yobe.

@owobokiri, the report cannot be true. How else can we explain it to you people who are just blinded by fraustration. Ok, lets take one by one.

He said the NA cant fight on the front line. But the NA have done it before in seria leone, liberia, DRC, CIV. And if you say that is old school even though they are within the last decade, i will tell you about dafur. We are still doing the shooting there. I hope i have countered one of the points in the report.

The report said they are poorly equiped. But we just comissioned a locally made warship. We also comissioned amored personel carrier. Our air force made their UAV (drone) sometime ago.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 7:13pm On Nov 10, 2012
VolvoS60: ^^^^Good point. I notice no one has really countered the points made in the OP's second post. Are those points valid or not?

Some posters here have become very defensive about the newsreport. I can assure them that the same things said in the newsreport about Nigerian troops have been said about the british army & the US army for years - these major shortcomings (low morale, lack of kit and indiscipline) were brought into sharp relief in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The press in the US and the UK did not hide these things - a web search will confirm this.

This is not the time for false nationalism. If there is no merit in the newsreport, then ignore it. If there is, act on it. That's what serious people do.
those points ave beeen countered already unless you are the one whos not seeing it due to the fact that your fraustration over nothing has blinded you to true and sound analysis.

I was going to gwagwalada campus from uniabuja permanent site after reading what people said about kits. I took my time to notice the kits the guys were puting on and there is absolutly nothing wrong with it! There is absolutely no difference between what the put on and what we see american soldiers put on in afghanistan. Absolutely no difference.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 1:39pm On Nov 10, 2012
i dont know why people continue to call on nigeria if they say we are not capable of anything. Why dont you go and call ghana who nigerians ignorantly say its economy is bigger than ours. The same country people say is better than us all round. Why dont they call on SA who is more technologically advanced. We continue to help people yet the only thank you we get is contempt and hatred. Apart from Uganda and Burundi who are just begining to be very active on the continents issues, who has done as much as we have done in nigeria.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 1:29pm On Nov 10, 2012
bashr8: if raping women in those countries and producing over 300 thousand bastards in liberia alone is what you call peace keeping then something is wrong with you. you cant even keep peace in your own country.
america fathered so many children in vietnam, iraq and afghanistan. Yet i know you wont call them names like you call NA.

what you "already know" is the falsehood we choose to believe even though there are indications to prove the opposite.

PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 9:16am On Nov 10, 2012
the most up seting part of the report is "they cannot even shoot". When i saw that, i just laughed. We cant shoot, but we are still shooting in dafur. We are not disciplined, but we have commanded missions under the auspices of the UN, AU, and ECOMOG.
PoliticsRe: UK Guardian - Nigerian Army's In A Shocking State by solbil: 8:59am On Nov 10, 2012
i dont know what nigerians are. They just wish it was the opposite when they hear positive news about their country. The shocking thing about us is that when we hear the -ve, we are so quick to believe it without careful thought but when we hear good news, it is then we begin to scrutinize and even when we scrutinize, we are so bias and eagerly look for that which rubbishes the good news.

Imagine a fellow in here who believes this story just because a ghanaian told him some time ago that nigerian soldiers are indisciplined! I am sure this same fellow had at one point heard that nigerian troops do recieve acolades for good behaviour in every UN peace keeping operations. In fact a nigerian had comanded UN missions in some countries before.

So why didn't the general advice the way you have put it by simply saying BH to stop killing the innocent (come to think about who is this General to decide who is innocent and who is not), or is he speaking A-level English and the normal people show read between the lines. My friend get a life and stop kissing butt and if you are the general's lawyer advice him to speak the type of English the masses can understand without the need of you to interpret his words to us.
he was speaking to grown ups who are expected to have passed their ssce. So if you have not passed your ssce, i suggest you go re-seat then com back and listen to the respected general.
