with the increase in sophistication of weapons, one would say that number mean nothing. But the US, despite having better weapons compared to iraq and afghanistan, had 100,000 soldiers on the ground! Why? Do they just wanted to create jobs? Or does this fact dismiss the idea that number still play a crucial role in war? Since the one who owns the air runs the game and can strike things on ground, what is the role of ground forces in modern war? If it is still relevant? Can a landlocked country with no water ways or has only brown waters have a navy? |
but sure, as a soldier, you can ward them off. Even a boy in the man o war here in nigeria, is that trained lol. Tell me some thing. Do you think an army using mortars is an army to reckon with in 21st century? Secondly, how important is a country's GDP and access to oil to its ability to fight a war? |
andrewza: Yes I have left SADC but never been to Nigeria but would not mind going. Never been to Egypt and the tension is high there at the moment. Has for Sudan I know a few guys who where deployed there and I don't want to go. The DRC would be better at least the western part.lol you sound like a potential run away soldier. Is this how all the men in the SADF are? And you honestly claim you stand a chance against the NA, NNand NAF in combat? (just kiddin). Arent you a minister of death? |
i noticed the grammer thing too but decided to overlook it. It is not important as far as i can understand you. Have you ever traveled out of SADC before? Has it ever crossed your mind to come to naija? Mas for me, there are two place that have always being on my mind to visit in africa. Egypt and sudan. |
very simple and honest. I like that! And for the ignorant fools, just know we will always have such people and thats the unfortunate side of online forums. We meet people and entertain nonsense from people who, ordinarily cannot step up to us in reality. But what do we do? Its the inetrnet afterall. You can also take a stroll around to romance, culture and family sections. BTW, how did you get to know of this site? Did anyone tell you about it or you just sumbled accros it? |
Kslib: [color=olive]Hmmn,it's just a matter of time before this war starts..dont mind the. As if people never deal with them before. Read the bible and see how israel lost so many battles. |
andrewza: Yes just like 99.99% of people from nigeria are scam artist thieving, drug dealing pimps.lol dont mind that fellow. I opened a thread for you on foreign affairs section. Kindly participate in the thread. |
hey bro! How do you find our forum? Tell us about your experiencesboth good and bad. Is your forum SA as buzy as ours? Who do you think are nigerians be honest. It doesnt matter if your opinion of us is bad. I mean, its your opinion and you have a right to express it no matter how unpopular. Hope to hear from you. |
but why is america so bent on supporting israel unconditionally? Surely there are other races in america that are also in highly placed positions too. Also, the second war is long gone. |
@mrs chima, thx alot. The reason my eyes get misty is that: the words of the song comunicate my feelings and they are so expressing. In my fantasy, i see myself telling my crush (this woman) all of the words in the song and seeing that the words are having romantic effect on her. Its sooo sweet you know (saying it under my breath). She is not in school now, but as soon as i see her, i would like to tell her my mind. Do you think she would accept me, mrs chima? |
people tell me i have a woman's voice. Many times people have over heard me talk and after coming out from the room, are suprised that it was a man talking. They have often said something like ''oh, you've got a beautiful voice.'' 'you can be a good artiste.' yada yada yada. Thats about all the female traits i have I am slightly built for my height. And NO, i am not gay! I have never met a gay, but i will be very free around them even though i do not understand and support their ways. Maybe thats becos i am an aggressive secularist. I would hate it so much if anyone refers to me as effeminate. Even at a very young age, i have always insisted on being called a man and not a boy. I have never looked in the way of men before, only women. This is the second woman that is catching my attention ever in my life. |
i do not have a GF yet, but i hope to get one soon. There is something bothering me that i have to understand and deal with before i get a GF. Anytime i listen to blues, i am thrown into a session of fantacy and at that time, my eyes become misty. I dont like it beocs i THINK it makes me effeminate and the whole thing is embarrasing. I am so helpless against this thing and no matter how hard i try, i just cannot hold it back. There is this woman i want. She is soooo...............(rolls eyes) And i melt at seeing her. My worry is; if i express my feelings the way i do just listening to blues, how would i express my feelings to her if she accepts me? I wouldnt like to be seen by her as effeminate. That might be a turn off for her. I want to deal with this issue and i believe you can help me. ***kisses and hugs*** |
who say there was no reference made of the detrocannonicals in the new testament? Such a person should go back to read the deutrocannonicals again. When the saducees came to jesus to test him, they asked him who a woman is going to marry in heaven if she married seven brothers here on earth. There were actually refering to a scenario in the book of tobit |
Omo Alata: One advocates war, the other advocates peacei am not muslim but you are a bigot! The likes of you are not needed in our society. |
dastardlym: oh foolish poster, why does your mind bring forth such stupid questionshow is it silly? Is it becos it strongly attacks your concience or what? Or are you going to deny that these are real issues in BLW inc especially the first 2 questions? Mind you, calling someone foolish isnt christian. |
lorddannie: so na movie this guy they use to judge nigeria. Wake up! Lmaohave you seen the movie? I say again, dont mess with france! @olila, i am not cameroonian. |
pauloman: Where u are wrong is that u think living an averagely comfortable life or living is all about the food u eat or the amount of money u can use in getting filled up per day. When u work or earn money, wont u transport, cloth and take care of other miscellaneous aspects of ur livingpls stop trying to justify the report about poverty in nigeria. And pls stop trying to prove what you are trying to prove. The reason is; the more you try, the more you look unintelligent and dump. Mention one man that collects his salary and does not first deduct his transport fare before any other thing? That a man eats very well in his house is the gaurantee that his TP is already taken care of! He knows that without his TP, he would lose his job! As for cloth; na every day you dey buy cloth? And how much do good cloth cost in katangua (okrika). And dont tell me okrika isnt ok becos i am sure you get okrika for your wardrobe. And for the villagers; they dont need TP to often as their lives revolve within a small geographical area. So you can see why i said you appear unintelligent. And pls dont bother to reply me unless you are willing to come to our side of the arguement otherwise you will look even more dump |

Cyberknight: "Very cheap like pure water'?!! Good gracious, man, really? Pure water is 80 naira a bag, if I were to come by your house, could you give me 9 or 10 BBs for the week, pretty please?are you replying that dolop head? You shouldnt have wasted your time. |
@pauloman, why you dey lie like this na. It is in the village people are more ok than in the city slums. They may not have as much cash, people in the village, but they have food. A dollar can buy three square meals in villages. Go to my village in benue to verify it. |
solomon111: ^^story. Go and watch 'tears from the sun' |
thelastPope: From your comment, I don't think you live in Nigeria. First, BB is not expensive. It is very cheap like pure water and the only reason some people don't have it is illiteracy. They can't really do the typing thing. And subscribing for bb is also cheap at 1400 or 1500 per month. Most people use that on calls per week.read all what you typed again and se if you would believe any part of it |
solomon111: stfu, you cameroonian scum.and who is nigerias ally? Who is willing to back you up? Tell me. |
GenBuhari: $1 = N160poor analysis! I have said it before. Amount of money should not be used to judge ones standard of living. Thats a poor parameter! What is the cost of living in ibadan. I can bet you that the iya alata whose likes are the majority of people in ibadan earn more than this mr tunde of yours. You need to be close to them to know. I dont know the cost of living in ibadan but in other major cities in nigeria, the zero point what ever dollar you said cannot take you through. You will simply die. |
there is no how people in the major cities live below a dollar a day. This i believe after looking at the society and concedering some factors. Factors that even the most persimistic of the nigerian state can SEE when he looks into the same society in question. I know ipaja area of lagos. Any one who knows that area can testify that my analysis are true. Ipaja is not where the elites live so you cannot say that the people are not average lagosians. Thje average resident of the place does not work or do business in the area. The closest they do business is iyana ipaja. Lets say the average man stays at two storey baruwa inside. He takes keke from two storey to baruwa bus stop. That 50naira. If its not rush hour, he will get danfo to iyana ipaja for another 50 naira. But if it is rush hour, the fare may be around 70 or 80. Thats to only and i am not talking about fro which is the same! He spends this on transport only and on daily basis and i am not talking about the food he eats in his house. Putting every thing together, you already have more than one dollar. |
Kslib: Double posti did not know people like you still exist in this country. It is so irritating that nigerians come out here to say rubbish about nigeria. Making some people to have a low opinion of us. Had it been all the negatiities are the way they say it, i would have no problem with any one having a low opinion of nigeria. But no. These people, foreigners, who come to nairaland to insult nigeria are doing so only after hearing the unfounded self hate from nigerians toward anything nigeria. |
if there are people who live below a dollar a day, then they are those who live in the village. But even at that, we cannot conclude that they are poor as the stat suggests. We have to put into consideration the cost of living in those villages. In my village in benue, one dollar can buy you 3 good meals in a day. Just as some one pointed out, the villagers may not have as much cash as their city counterparts, but many of them live better than those living in city slums like makoko. I had a difficult time making a daft nigeria who is so blinded by his unfounded intense hate for the state to understand that some time ago here on nairaland but the ignorant man remained adamant and i couldnt help cure him of his ignorance and self hate. |
plendil: the statistic given is not limited, as you seem to imply, to only working Nigerians - or those that can work.the people in the village may not have that much cash, but they have food. One dollar can buy them three square meals. |
tpapi: r u comparin cameroonian army wit nigerian armyand what is the naija militia you call army? Mess with cameroon and you mess with france. The camroonians, french in black skin, will clean you up. Remember they (cameroonians) have a nuclear bomb. They have aircraft carriers and nuclear subs. I tell you again; DONT MESS WITH THEM! |
toluxa1: This is the wrongest thing I have heard this year. So wrong and so senseless. How will someone same MOST people in nigeria make N20, N50, N100 a day. Bros wake up. Even people that pack shi.t make more than the National minimum wage monthly. What am I saying sef? The hagard looking guy who came to clear our suckaway collected 10k and finised in 5hours and said he was going for another job. That's 20k/per day. MTN or Zenith Bank can't pay you that. Not even NNPC. Go to the rural areas, they may not be rich but they have land and excess food to eat. I have said it at least twice this year, that the 70% of Nigerians live in poverty is a lie from the pit of hell. Guy, people spend money in this country all over. Now I have confirmation since even the world bank claims they have not stats.one hundred percent on point. If to say i get gold medal here, i for give you. |
BlackBaron: A great percentage of Nigerians remain poor.the 'one dollar a day' should not be used as a measure to know how well a person is living. In most part of nigeria, and i mean most, one dollar can buy you three square meal. Go to benue, zaria, and especially the rural areas of the country to verify for you self. Which means that the man in the village though spends less, lives better that people in slum in cities. |
luluosas: With this GSM growth as published by NCC, which is not commensurate with the quality of service being offered by these GSM providers, it shows we the subscribers have a long way to go.you are wrong! The network is good. We have more lines becos of call rates from one provider to the other. |

Go figure bro....
