all of you who are saying that lawrence onoja (a respected general who fought for the unity of nigeria in the civil war and also saved the igbos from making the bigest mistake of their lives) is this and that, are either anti idoma or you simply failed english lang in your waec becos of your inability to understand comprehension passage. How else can we explain your inability to read what the highly esteemed man said and come to see that he was only advicing BH to stop killing inocent people and poliTRICKcians to stop malpractice. |
i wonder why asking about someones ethnicity makes som people feel like there is ethnocentrism and xenophobia in the air. Perhaps, these people have lost touch with african culture. In africa, our being able to identify with our ethnic group, culture and family is a statement that we are not just anyone, but a true son of the soil. So when i ask you where you are from, i am not asking to know just how to treat you, but i just want to identify you down to your root. |
Callotti: The white race is truly superior! No doubt!we also know what greek, italian, russian and the former soviet countries' politicians are doing to their people. |
i wonder how you see people from latin american countries where people produce and deal in drugs. Do you see them in a negative light like you see nigerians? If no, why not. These people have drug problems more than us. |
for those of you saying we should take a lesson from madiba and dont stay long in office. Well you have to know that naija is not one of those african countries where leaders stay in power for long. You know its just not possible! In our 52years, jonathan is our 14th leader. That means an average of 3.8years per leader. And the longest an individual stayed in office at a stretch is 9years. Thats a year more than a democratically elected president is allowed to spend. So you can see its others that should learn lessons from us |
KINGwax: Wait till she opts outta your non-romantical boring and static life!my dear, i do not have a girlfriend yet. But like i said; i will only use it for the woman my heart melts after. I will use it for someone i truely love. |
i have never used those words for any woman and i have decided not to use it except for some one i melt after. But just how important is are those words to the woman |
i have used and have decided not to use those three words on any one except the one i truely melt after. But just how important are these three word to the woman. |
iamswizz: But you know it happens to girls more..it doesnt happen to girls more. Its just that they make more noise about it. |
ciphoenix: when it comes to teenagers, the pattern changes. Its no longer "children are more attached to their mothers". True, mothers spend more time with "children", that doesn't justify blaming them when the children turn out badlyi understand you. But what i am against is the chronic anti man sentiment that is so evident in the op's view and that of so many other women. |
Tunjman: I can only answer the question if the op can tell me why the child's first language is called mother's tongue and not father's tongueco-sign on that one. |
i can feel an anti man sentiment going on in here. Op, are you trying to deny that mothers are the ones who spend more time with the kids? I know the fathers should be visible. But i am sure that you are not going to deny, despite you strong anti man feeling, that no matter the case, on the average, children are more drawn to their mothers than their fathers? As for those who are quick to say "typical nigerian mentality" well, i think you all are just a bunch of xenocentric people who by chance have found yourselves abroad and now think anything nigeria is inferior! You have become so blinded by your xenocentrism that your intellectual development have been seriously affected! How else can we explain your inability to suspect the simple obvious? That by nature , children are more attached to their mothers than they are to their fathers. And the one who is closer, has more influence. No! The "patriachal society" did not shape it this way. We have this, becos nature has made children to be drawn more to their mothers. So if you are angry, direct your anger against nature. Not men. |
if you dont know nigerians read, then its becos you dont read yourself. I read alot and you find me always in the lib. As a result of this, i know somany guys who read. If you are always in the lib, then the only people you will know are the ones who go to the lib. Not like every body abroad is always seen with a book! Infact there are reports of trends of addiction to the internet and video games in other parts of the world a trend you dont find here! I have never been abroad before and never met a jew before but i wonder if those people are always carrying a book where ever they go. I have heard so much about those people's genius. |
many people here just missed it woefully! We forget that there are many african names that are not meant to be taken literally. That name could also pass for "gift for the ancestors" infact thats what it is. I just asked a tiv friend of mine. In the tiv culture, there are some religious rites that are performed. And in this ritual, a meat is set aside for the ancestors or Gods sometimes a whole cow. The meat is shared according to age and some is reserved for the ancestors. We know as africans that that which is left for the ancestors, you dont touch! So when i call anyone that name, i am actually telling the world "dont touch!" which is still in line with the bible teaching of "touch not my anointed..." so, i dont understand it when christians are the ones who cannot understand this! The name is in the ranks of the likes of ikechukwu. |
jumobi1: Isn't that a given based on population? |
jumobi1: Isn't that a given based on population?you are a mad man! All the assumptions you people have about poverty rate in nigeria is based on nothing but your deep hate for the state and not on credible fact. |
and yes. Its important we develop our military hardwares. The fed govt knows this and thats why we are trying to revive our defence industry. We manufactured a warship not too long ago. We also made an armoured personel carrier and also a UAV. |
african countries were formed on shaky foundation thats why following independence, the continent went to war soon afterwards. For those basic necesities of life you talked about to be on ground, there must be security. For a democracy to flourish on the continent, the millitary have to support and protect it. They cant do this if they are not stronger than the millitia in one part of the country. So its not misplaced priority as you think. Besides, african countries spend less on defence today. A good example is naija.in naija, its about 1 percent of GDP befor boko haram. |
its good that this topic is comming up. One of the ideas i have always antagonized is being brought up here. And its about "women are more matured than guys their age". People do confuse biology for overall maturity. Yes, a lady get to puberty before her male counterpat at the same age. But you will agree that a boy at 22 is as matured biologically as a lady at 22. It is only when it comes to sexual and romance related matters that a girl knows more than her male age mate. Thats becos she started that kind of life before her male age mate. But we still have to agree that this kind of hege she has over her male age mate, does not translate into her being better at coming up with a smarter solution to difficult situations. In most cases ladies prove to be so inferior to guys their mate when it comes to this. So, ladies are not more matured than guys their mate and they are not more ready at 22 for marriage than guys at the same age. |
Mrs.Chima:my thoughts exactly |
kobikwelu: Different strokes for different folks..but ideally, the man should be in his late 20's or early 30's...by whose standard is a man MEANT to be older than his wife? |
@ledafaze, tom cruise saw so many broken homes. He saw so much in life all the things you mentioned before getting married. But his marriage failed! And there are so many people like that. On the other hand, in the past and in much of africa, our fathers got married in most cases before the age of 20. Yet they, to a large extent, had a blissful marriage. So re think your stance. |
DMainMan: Y not. Wil b getting married within dis age bracket all things being equal. The main aim is to avoid fornication and complete half of my faith for the fear of ALLAH. Muslims are enjoined to marry early to purify demselves against atrocities in this world. It is not easy to control oneself against sexual urge. It is not easy o. I cant wait for her to graduate. I cant just wait.as much as i support early marriage, i dont think its a good idea to get married becos of sexual urge. |
why is no one answering me. What has a lady got at 22 to make her qualified for marriage that the guy doesnt have at the same age? |
i want someone to ans my question. Why cant a man get married at the age of 22 even if he can afford it and a woman can marry at that age? What has the woman got that made her more qualified for marriage than the man at the same age. |
do you think pentecostals have problems with confession? No they do not! The only reason they are saying what they are saying is becos they just cannot put up with the idea of leting someone else know what bad thing they have done. |
let me try to answer some of the questions that came to my mind when i was reading through all of the posts. On "do priests go to confession?" yes, they do. And their confessor is a fellow priest. It dosent matter the height of priest hood. Ie, the pope can confess to a priest, he himself just ordained. On whether priest have power too forgive sins. Well, i think that verse in john 20 has said it all and no matter how pentecostals want to twist it. Notice that; the bible said HE BREATHED ON THEM. Meaning, he was giving them a new power. A power that had never been giving to any man. It was the first and only time he did that act of mysical significance (breathing) the same thing oyakhilome does. |
@joe, his conscience isnt genuinely disturbed. It is falsely disturbed becos his pastor made him think so. And those verses you quoted, i dont think have got anything to do with this. Becos the verses were refering to idol worship. But the muslims do not worship idols at least not in the christian sense. Thats a theological fact no matter how we want to biasly see it. |
