Crusader, there are lots of companies that are willing to get you work permits. If you indicate your area of discipline, I'll see if I can find vacancies with companies that get work permits.

By placements do you mean one year internships cause thats what I understand by placements or entry level jobs? I would post engineering vacancies for the UK, don't have any details for Nigeria.

Hello everyone,

I have found that this site is quite partial to Nigerians based in Nigeria with regards to job vacancies. I wouldn't mind posting vacancies I come across but don't know if there is a lot of people who would need this sort of information. No need to waste my time if its just one or two people. So if you are interested in vacancies, please indicate your interest and area of discipline. I am also in the process of reviewing how viable a careers advice website for international students based in the UK will be. I do hate going through websites with irrevelant information and so I don't want to fall into the same trap of providing irrevalant information. So please let me know the sort of information you will want to see on such a site. Better still, if there is something you found out late that would have helped in your job search had you known earlier, please feel free to share. Thanks!!!

Its quite a good idea but there is already a big one somewhere in Lekki. Not sure what it is called and I think Nigerians welcomed it. So I guess you'll to have differentiate yours from the existing one to ensure that you get customers.

My suggestion would be to stay in the UK and get a job with a company that would pay for your ACCA.ACA/CIMA or whatever qualifications you want to get. I don't know what your status in the UK is. But if you need a work permit, your options are somewhat limited. Companies that recruit international students include KPMG, Pwc, Ernst and Young and Deloitte. If you have a residence permit, there is a lot of other places you can apply to. There are loads of opportunities available out there and you have execllent grades so I'll say you stand a very good chance of getting a worthwhile job. After working for say three years and your qualificatiosn done, a move to Nigeria might make sense then. I think KPMG or one of these comapnies encourage that, work here with them for three years and go back to your home country and work for them. Any other questions you have, ask away. I'll be happy to answer them.

I am starting a website that would provide information for careers in the UK for international students. I thought it would be ready by Sept 1st but been quite busy with other stuff. Well, I would say it depends on the course you are studying and the career path you want to follow. You have to bear in mind that some secctors are not fully developed in Nigeria while others are saturated. So I guess the first step is stating ur course and the career path you want to pursue.

Please where did you get that figure from? So not true. My friend that just got a job with Shell with a few years experience is not even getting N400,000 basic. Is the figure you are stating for entry-level as in graduate level. All this talk about union and negotations is getting me confused. Give me facts and not negotation talks. Shell's basic pay is N250000, a few thousands more or less but def not as high Mobil's N350000. This is backed with evidence of pple I know that just got jobs with them not just hearsay. Ask Shell employees, they'll tell you sef that Mobil pays better. At least when I asked the pple in my family that work there, they agreed so not sure bout this union talk.

Thank you texazzpete, everyone seems to think Shell pays better for some reason. Saying that, the salary is not all that matters when choosing a company to work for. Other factors like international career opportunities, career progression would need to considered and in that case, Mobil might not come up tops but they definitely pay better than Shell and other oil companies. And yeah Zahymaka also mentioned that NLG employees enjoy more than Shell employees, an LNG employee also told me that. But that does not automatically translate to LNG paying better than Shell.

There's some debate as to which of Chevron or LNG pays more so I'll put them at the top. After that is Shell, then any others.

Doubt if i am off the mark cause a couple of my friends are just moving back to Nigeria to start work with these companies and the highest salary I have heard so far has been with Mobil. Shell is offering the least salary I have heard but pple argue that they take better care of you and have a better career which might be why Shell might not feel the need to pay the highest salary. I am 100% sure LNG is definitely not the highest paying, as someone said it is owned by NNPC and some other oil companies but run by Shell. I know for a fact that Shell does not pay the highest in the oil company as I have been told by my many family that work there but as I said earlier they offer a great career opportunity. Am not too sure bout Chevron and Agip so won't comment bout those ones.

Infact, I think I am quite sure NNPC does not pay that much for entry level. Like all govt owned establishments, the money starts to come when you have reached a certain level.

I would say oil companies pay the most and i think mobil pays the most out of oil companies. Companies with high salaries are Nigeria LNG, Shell, Mobil and Totalfinaelf.
