Enyimba is owned by the state while Ubah is owned by a private person so I'm trying to see the Business sense in letting Ezenwa go as a free agent.

And no, Ubah won't get a dime from FIFA if there is any similar stuff like this in his case because he left as a free agent.
Danielnino00:
TheSuperNerd dropped an article d other time that Chelsea will get a share of Mikel's world cup appearance fee from FIFA.. The fee will be paid to d club(s) the player represented in the last 2 years...so I guess FCIU and Enyimba did some good business with Ezenwa grin grin
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 2:09pm On Feb 25, 2018
So letting Ezenwa go would be tagged as a wise move by a business man called Ifeanyi Ubah in a world cup period?
goldfish80:
He refused extension and left the club.I have a feeling the patron of the club is cutting down his finance on the team, probably have something to do with his financing of the Obiano campaign because this season, they lost many key players like Isaac loute, Stephen Eze and Ezenwa to mention a few.

When did E-passport come into existence?

Even with E-passport, people still have multiple passports. Na to just re-arrange your names.

Even DL self not exempted.

Kog45:
I need to ask you cos you said it.

Initially i thought it was not possible with current e-passport and finger print.

So how come Ubah didn't renew his contract if he was so good? ended up without a club until Enyimba signed him? I hope you know the caliber of GKs Enyimba current have?
goldfish80:
Well, I watched Ifeanyi Ubah against Rangers over both legs and he was the captain on both occasions. Against Al Masry of Egypt, in the confederations cup, he was captain of the side over both legs, his heroics in Egypt saw him save a penalty to put Ifeanyi Ubah through the the next stage of the competition. If you didn't see him against Mfm, just know that he was out injured or on national assignment. Take it from someone who knows.

I didn't say i believe Uzoho is 19, i said he said so.

Yes, it's possible to have different ages on different passport with different names in Nigeria. don't ask me how, go close to Nigerian players to get the gist grin grin grin grin grin grin
Kog45:
Sir is it possible to have different ages on two international e passport.

I don't think age issue is peculiar to NPFL alone cos i have guys working with some football academy in Nigeria that are in habits too,so do we say Uzoho is 19 just cos he moved from academy.

My man as you said let's leave it at that and move on

Oga, he was not their first choice at Ubah that i watched. i watched their game live at AGEGE stadium and he was not at the helms of affairs! team captain? Nwakanma Edwin was their first team GK while he was with them. it's not Injury that kept him out of being first choice at Enyimba, Dauda is 100% BETTER than Ezenwa sentiments apart!

Except Enyimba coach wants to put sentiments into play, he will remain on the bench. he was bought by Enyimba for business reason, hoping that when he makes it to the world cup, some foreign clubs might need his services and in the process make money from selling him!

That he couldn't keep a spot at PSL doesn't make him bad, at least we have seen him in the Ghanaian national team!

goldfish80:
Who told you he's not in the first team in the Npfl? Ezenwa was the captain of Ifeanyi Ubah last season. This season, he's been out injured.
What's so great about Fatai Dauda? This same Dauda who couldn't hold down a spot in PSL? I watched him last season a couple of times and I wasn't impressed. We are no longer in 2010.

Football age is the age some Nigerian players (especially those who started from the NPFL) always claim. most have more than 2 passports with different ages (take this fact from me). let's leave it at that.

Uzoho said he's 19.......

Kog45:
Pls what is football age?the guy is 29 years so believe it as a Nigerian.Pls how old is Uzoho?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 12:14pm On Feb 25, 2018
Knocked into shape? someone that can't even keep first team shirt in the NPFL? bros he should first beat Dauda at ENYIMBA before thinking of first team in the SE for Russia except we're stuck with him. I doubt he can learn within 3 months on how to catch aeria balls and the rush to the head attributes of his. I believe if teaching was a viable option, Rohr would have also gotten a personal teacher for him. They must have been discussing all the GK at their disposal to know which of them should be concentrated on.
goldfish80:
Bros we are talking about a short term solution. Nobody is teaching Ezenwa how to catch a ball, I'm talking about improving and bringing him up to standard before June 2018.
Uzoho could be the medium or long term solution but in the short term, Ezenwa could be knocked into shape for Russia since he's the most qualified. His record isn't too bad for the main NT. Conceeding just 2 goals (penalty goals)in 4 games tells me there's something to work with if the managers aren't lazy.
cc safarigirl
If not for the yeye shaking shaking we know Akpeyi for, he would have remained number 1. he's got the height, the shape/body structure and also the presence of a good goal keeper. not also bad with reflexes but sucks when it comes to confidence. Can't they just get him a personal psychology?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow:
Uzoho is a young goal keeper with prospects and can still be taught/bent. How old is Ezenwa? It will take years if possible to teach or bend an almost 30 years old keeper.

He should be 29 years I think (football age)
goldfish80:
I wish Ezenwa got the same attention Uzoho is getting with the personal trainer. Ezenwa would have stood in good stead and better prepared for this world cup if the Italian Gk trainer was working closely with him at Enyimba.
The guy is very coachable that's for sure.

I have a feeling that Akpeyi will go to the worldcup.

Might even be the first choice if Uzoho end up not impressing during the friendlies

Ezenwa being first choice is like a bitter pill to me.
Oasis007:

Akpeyi has the same Percentage of making the Final List as Alampasu and Ajiboye. Whoever among the Trio that eventually makes the List will definitely gonna be the 3rd Choice.

But my Intuition pick Ajiboye as a possible 3rd Choice Keeper for the World Cup.

Like "bla bla bla will happen if Echiejile makes it to Russia" irrespective of if and how well Echiejile proves himself?
junnyjake:
Rohr's decisions may not necessarily be foolproof, so I don't think he's reserved the right to be unchallenged when he makes a questionable move.

I and a couple of monikers here came hard on him after the SA game, some of his flaws were just too obvious.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by somehow: 8:50pm On Feb 24, 2018
Make people against him sound crazy or the people are actually the ones bothering themselves anyhow against the stand of the coach like the man doesn't know who he wants again? I'm only against those saying he should be dropped and threatening heavens and earth if they see Echiejile in Russia.

How does that sound to you?
junnyjake:
You asked goals that was conceded from his wing, I've given you one.

Echiejile, for a very long time has enjoyed little or no competition at the LB position. Rohr back in 2015 talked to him about making a switch.

We need someone who's good at both defence and attack, Idowu is just fine for that, there's no way he can be worse than Echiejile. I've seen some of his games at his club side. And I know about the already cliched club football is different from national team football.

We didn't miss him at the last WC and please sir, stop making people who are against his making the WC squad sound like crazy people, his experience isn't a beneficial one.

Very annoying to say the least.

Why won't NFF require foreign handler? To prosecute a simple assignment as selecting real u-20 ballers is a problem.

He went forward and when we were counter attacked, there was no DM to cover for him. Same happened to Aina against Argentina. Same thing happened to Shehu.

Echiejile isn't that good supporting attack same way Aina isn't better defending. As for Idowu, I want to see more of him in GWG before I expand more.
junnyjake:
Remember the 1st goal we conceded against SA? Where the heck was Echiejile. We've seen him not just once, not twice but multiple times ran over and disgraced by opposing wingers.

You seriously waiting for us to concede 5 goals from his wing before you know he's an awful LB at the moment? For Christ's sake, the last time I checked, He wasn't starting for a Belgian div 2 clubside?

What has kept him in the team this long is lack of competition in his role. What will continue to keep him there is nothing more than sentiments, both because he can do any better than Idowu.

We didn't miss him when he was injured at the last WC, we definitely won't miss him if he fails to make it to Russia.

Idowu hasn't played enough for us to be compared (performance wise) with Echiejile, let him get to play more before judging.

Echiejile has faced more than Pavon oga!

My last comment on this until March is that the coach knows what he wants and if sticking to Echiejile is part of his plans, what can you possibly do? Until the series of friendlies get here and something else happens, Echiejile remains the main man for Rohr according to him (not me).
TheSuperNerd:
So because Idowu "Neva see wetin Uncle Echiejile don see for GWG shirt".... that automatically makes Echiejile better abi? wink Are you not listening to my words at all? Do I talk longevity or Quality?

And Aina is below Echiejile defensively?? Did you watch Aina against Zambia when he came in? Did you watch him too against Algeria? So you want me to limit myself to just the Argentina first half of Aina abi? cheesy I wont even go into Aina's records at Hull. I wont even bring in his defensive game stats there. Would be unfair to Echiejile. Let me keep things on just GWG.

You think Echiejile would have fared better against a fast and super skilful Cristian Pavon?! cheesy Chaaiiiii....

I repeat, Echiejile is Rohr's no.1 LB because of his experience and nothing else. And don't tell me you aren't aware that we have not had the luxury of LB options for a while now until Idowu and Aina came into the picture.

I rest my case.

I am just so speechless. Is the coach saying he can't source for real U20 or at least those WITHIN that range? We have them in academies, foreign clubs and also in few NPFL clubs. I dey vex jare. Just Google each names to see what the search result will reveal.
tbaba1234:
It is really sad. What happened to some of the last under 17? And all these youth tournaments that NFF has been organizing?

Having followed the league for sometimes now, I would say the list released is filled up with over aged players. I can only count less than 8 players that are within 20 years range, the rest are age cheats. It's so shameful that such a list would be released.

More reason I hardly support coaches from the league. It's just irritating that to comment on the list is just somehow to me.
tbaba1234:
Under-20 list: Nigeria’s lack of adequate database exposed

Newly-appointed Nigeria Under-20 coach Paul Aigbogun on Friday executed his first piece of task in charge of the national side – the release of a list of players with whom he intends to prosecute the qualifying series of the 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

How efficient or accurate was Aigbogun’s ‘first touch’ as the Flying Eagles handler? Our Chief Football Writer FISAYO DAIRO takes a look at the list and believes that the cankerworm that has masticated on Nigerian football for years is not ready to go away.

To start with, it is expected (at least by my humble self) that the task of coaching the Under-20 team this year will not be an easy one for any coach in the land, let alone one that has a full day-to-day job.

This is so because the previous National Under-17 set which naturally should form the nucleus of this Under-20s failed to qualify for the African Championship and so, in our normal ways, discarded the lot – talk of throwing away the baby and the bath water.
Since there was almost nothing on ground in terms of structure or personnel to work with, one can imagine the sort of work Mr Aigbogun and his crew would have done just to put together a list of players that will be eligible to play for the country at that level.

The top flight league in Nigeria hardly helps his cause as league coaches (including the Under-20 handler) always favour ‘old’, recycled legs, most times at the detriment of emerging ones.
It is also not a surprise that the three Under-20 players who represented Nigeria at the recently held African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco were the first names on the list because, at least, they have a database aided by their participation in a major competition. For the rest of the selection, they are purely based on guessing and/or speculation on their eligibility since there is no articulate framework to run to.

Allegations of cheating

No sooner had the list been released by the Football Federation than analysts and journalists across Nigeria take to social media to express one reservation or the other about one, two or three players in the list of twenty-eight.

Their major yardstick which could be the only empirical evidence available in a country with abject disdain for record keeping like ours is; the number of seasons such player had played in Nigeria’s first two divisions.

Our findings

The first name that came to my attention was Douglas Achiv, a good central midfielder who was dropped at the dying minutes of preparation for CHAN 2018 by coach Salisu Yusuf.

I discovered that Achiv was also invited to camp by late Stephen Keshi for 2014 CHAN and featured for the first time in the NPFL for Lobi Stars in the 2013 season.

However, as being emphasised in this article, there is no record to prove or disprove that Achiv was just an exceptional 13-year old in 2013.

Also on the list is goalkeeper Ospino Egbe who is in his third NPFL season with Church side MFM FC of Lagos.

My findings reveal that Egbe was third choice goalkeeper at Ocean Boys of Brass in 2010 and famously had an auto accident with his teammate then, Okey Akabogu.

Ospino however seemingly went under the radar before resurfacing at MFM, perhaps making the selectors believe he is just playing his third league season. His case is however complicated by the tweet below, showing his year of birth as 1992.

One other player whose eligibility has been questioned incidentally is Moses Peter Eneji. He earned himself an infamous red card at the 2018 CHAN final and records available with the Confederation of African Football states that he was born on April 4, 1999.

Eneji, our findings revealed joined Dolphins FC (now Rivers United) in mid 2013/14 season from Unicem Rovers of Calabar but left the Port Harcourt side at the end of the season.

That suggests that the flying winger started his career so early and was brilliant enough to be playing for second division side UNICEM at 15.

Considering where Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa are coming from with regard to cases of age issues, it must be stated that 3/28 is a wonderful score but the problem inherent in this is the inability to trace the records of other players invited to the team. Players like Adesina Gata, Joseph Abiodun have also been speculated with traces of being overaged but where is the concrete evidence to lay claim to that?

It is glaring, even to the blind that this is a societal problem as not only footballers but civil servants, Professors and Politicians have been discovered to have falsified their ages at one time or the other. The society clearly gives these micro organisms enough broth and growth culture to manifest themselves in the future.

Since it is never too late to start, it can be recommended that the secrecy which has clouded the dates of births of players in the leagues must be removed so that everyone knows right from the onset.

With the advent of the laudable NPFL Under-15 Promises, there is an urgent need for players’ data to go directly into a database starting from the regional qualification level as that is the only way the league stars of ten, fifteen years to come can be monitored.

The NFF release included a clause which perhaps was suggestive that the Football House are in the dark as regards some of their dates of births and that has passed the message that this niggling thorn in the flesh of Nigerian football still basks in the absence of database.

“All invited players are to arrive at the Serob Legacy Hotel, Wuye, Abuja between Sunday, 25th February and Monday, 26th February, with their international passports, birth certificates and training kits.”
