Am trying to stop the toxic rivalry currently going on in nairaland between ANAMBRA and ABIA and you are here ranting? Have you not seen the post of yorubas tackling each other posted by 66xtr....(sorry, the moniker's initials did not come right)? |

Guys pls let's not derail this thread. The purpose of this thread is to stop the now toxic rivalry ensuing between ABIA and ANAMBRA for some days now.
I only mentioned yorubas in order the prove that sibling rivalries is not an Igbo thing. Other tribes have rivalries too, however, theirs may not be as pronounced and toxic as that of igbos in nairaland. My point? Sibling rivalries can be healthy, but when its becoming toxic, let's address it once and for all. Thank you. |

OreMI22: Another post from jobless babies in NL.
Please you people should keep comparing yourselves. The worst thing about Nigeria is that they compare themselves with mediocrity why not compare with somewhere with same resources but much better outcome such as South Africa? Even shoprite stores are novel ideas to Nigerians. Yet, they spend all the time comparing their lack of development instead of proffering ideas to improve themselves. Especially the jobless Igbo youths here in Nairaland. Another mugu on the loose. Did you read the post properly from the beginning to the end? If you did then you must be dyslexic. The post is against the superiority contest and he is sueing for an understanding between the two states. Dude go and sleep. |

or one for Oyo people vs Ife people
While I can help you dig out Anambra vs Imo, Anambra vs Enugu, Anambra vs Abia etc
Shall we? Whether you believe it or not, yorubas have sibling rivalries, only theirs is not as pronounced as that of igbos because igbos are naturally more competitive than they. Stop trying to sound coherent, you are not. Take or leave, a healthy rivalry is okay, but when it gets toxic, it becomes a problem and that's exactly what am addressing on this thread. |

Africonji: SonOfEl, I respect you more than this and know you are just trying to be diplomatic by lumping Abia and Anambra when it comes to chest-beating but the truth (and you know it) is that Anambra people are the main culprit here, with inferiority complex that drive them to always behave as if they are superior and better than the rest of us. If they are not putting down Aba it is Owerri they are tearing down (ask Abagworo). If they are not fighting Abia, it is Imo or Enugu they are bad-mouthing. Anambra brethren are the real guilty party when it comes to this sort of pettiness and chest-beating. That is the naked truth and everyone knows it, including you. Nwannam....I hail you |

Abagworo: Orlu pass Nnewi for everything. Don't even go there. Until Anambra gets a Governor interested in Nnewi it will not get to level of Orlu as transformed by Rochas Okorocha.
Indigenes of a place building factories in their village without government presence creates unplanned dense rural settlement. There is zero Government presence in Nnewi. Don't mind them, always forming and foaming. I keep telling people that industrialization does not necessarily mean urban development. A place could be urban, yet not industrialized. Some people are just to shallow. All they do is copy and paste, they knowing nothing about urbanization. |

Ilovemystate: Some of you guys are sick how can you compare Abiriba to Nnewi how may industries are there in your small london How many commercial bank do you have in Abiriba, how many standard market do you have there, how about standard hotels, what has the town contributed in Nation economy not individual houses, you can compare Abiriba to Awka etiti or Alo london where you can find rich dudes and beautiful houses, there are so many towns in Anambra with rich men and beautiful houses all over the place but in terms s of industries and commerce is zero, Ekwlobia is more economical viable than Abiriba not to talk of Nnewi. Dude, STOP DISGRACING yourself. Urbanization and industrialization are two different things. Industry this, industry that, are you even schooled? Before nnewi became known as urban, abiriba has been there before it. Have you even been to abiriba before? Some ANAMBRA dudes and noise making are like twins. |

Companies in Nnewi Here you will find 53 companies in Nnewi http://www.businesslist.com.ng/location/nnewi Can you give me the list of Industaries in Abiriba , same way one was comparing Nnewi and Orlu, you guys are just funny Just look at how you think, so if a place is not industrialized, then it means its not developed. Dude stop disgracing yourself. Industrialization does not necessarily connote development. Abiriba does not want industries, what they want is a planned residential community with aesthetic beauty, your nnewi does not even come close. I believe you are still a naive boy, that's why you know nothing about urban development. |

A lot of comparison has been going on in recent times as regards "ndi bu ndi" in alaigbo particularly between two sister states, namely ABIA and ANAMBRA. other Igbo communities (IMO, ENUGU, EBONYI, ANIOMA, UPLAND RIVERS) have been at the sidelines trying to calm these two stubborn, vainglorious and ambitious states.
Years back, a thread in nairaland titled "Abia vs. Anambra, which is more organized?" brought analysis and counter-analysis involving the two states. Now, another thread on nnewi and aba has graced the front page of nairaland. I initially enjoyed the competitiveness thinking its still a healthy rivalry, now am getting pissed.
Anambra has made the nation proud and not-so-proud in so many ways, same for Abia too. So who is superior to the other? My answer - None. They both boast of commercial centers of old (Onitsha and Aba), classy towns (nnewi and abiriba), and cultural pride (NRI hegemony and ARO confederacy). WHY ARE WE TACKLING OURSELVES?
IMO ain't shouting, ENUGU isn't making noise, EBONYI is always humble, ANIOMA is a full barrel, UPLAND RIVERS no dey shout, WHY ANAMBRA AND ABIA?
check your NAIRA NOTES, the two igbo portraits there are from these two states; The heads of state in the past of Igbo extract came from these two states; the two political parties (APGA and PPA) that once held two states each in the east came from these two states; maybe that's what is making them feel too King Kong.
Am beginning to feel pissed. I love ANAMBRA with all my heart. Abia is my home state. But for real, am disenchanted with these unnecessary chest beating. Have we forgotten that other Igbo states and communities contributed IMMENSELY to the goodwill of ndigbo? Do we hear them making noise? In fact, I can arguably point out that our (ABIA and ANAMBRA) achievements are still being dwarfed by other Igbo places combined, (YES I SAID SO), so why the noise?
Umunnam biko nu, gu ishi unu...
