natural or unforseen disasters are the work of evil and invisible principalities and powers. Satan like the bible says, roars like a lion, seeking for whom to destroy. he cometh not but to steal, to kill, and to destroy. its because he knows he has but a short time to face judgement from God. so he is doing his worst.

for true believers, death has no sting. it is even a short cut to paradise. it is only human nature that makes us fear death. but when divine nature comes upon you, you see death as a means to greater glory. only those you leave behind may not understand. that is why we all need our spiritual leaders to encourage us by the scripture in these troublous times.

man is also partially responsible for the natural disasters due to environmental degradation in the forests, atmosphere, and water bodies. God help us all from our self destructive lifestyles.

the "fire" used means something that destroys irreversibly. simple. take a piece of paper or patch of grass and burn it. can you restore the paper or grass? that's the effect of the "eternal fire" as it were on condemned souls.

1. what if God tried to 'modify' the person by constantly preaching repentance to the person and he or she, by freewill, refuses? God is patient, but he has an APPOINTED time for everyone's judgement. when that time comes, even your anger would not match God's wrath upon this wicked people.

2. Adam and eve and the tree. I think you should study the bible deeper before criticising it. freewill in the presence of an evil snare is man's perfect proof of loyalty and faithfulness to God. how will I know my wife is faithful to me? I will know because there are many male distractions around her even when am not around, yet, she CHOOSES to be faithful to me, such is also the case of a woman that has a relationship with a guy who is exposed to female distractions everyday, yet by freewill, he CHOOSES to stay faithful.

Okay. Now, let me say my own.

1. Jesus did not put any condition into his statement when he said ask anything. In another place, he said, if your faith is like a mustard seed, you can command a mountain to be removed. And it will happen.
Imagine if you were a missionary to a village, and they put poison in your food and asked you to bless it, eat it, and live before they believe, what will you do? (It's still won't work though. You'd still die.)

2. I'm not tempting God. I'm testing him. do you know why I'm testing him? Because there are other Gods in the game. There's Allah, there's this whole plethora of Gods. Now, how to know which is true? Someone has to do one the others can't. So, we have to test all of them. To see which is correct. Faith . . . doesn't cut it here.

3. Thomas saw Jesus performed miracles. It was only a matter of mere deductive reasoning to understand that he indeed could arise. Besides, he was not the only one. Peter also did not believe. He had to run to the tomb himself to confirm it. Also, I am 100% sure that if any of the other disciples were in Thomas position, they would behave in the same way.

4. Saying that God works in a mysterious way only allows you to explain away his shortcomings. It's not helping. Why? Because this is the same exact argument that EVERY OTHER RELIGION uses to help their Gods out in the face of hard logic.

I have decided to give God another try . . . I will indeed pray and seek his face for a week. We shall see what is going to happen.

pls you need to balance scriptures.

1. study Luke 24:45 along with John5:14-15, follow it up with Matthew 6:31-33. it settles your understanding of Jesus saying we should ask "anything" in his name.

2. the Allah of the Muslims is also their God of Ibrahim (Abraham), ishiaku (Isaac), and Yacoub (Jacob). they only try to follow him through their prophet Mohammed. you can test God, he is bigger than science or any human intelligence. there are ways you can attract God but definitely not by testing him. you change attract God by first going by his principles of approach, which is - being humble, sincere, and willing before him. by that attitude, you can attract God.

3. even in Thomas time, no man had risen from the dead by his own will and power, not even the greatest prophets known. Jesus did just that. he prophesied about his death and resurrection, and it was fulfilled. peter did not believe at first but something in him wanted to. what about Paul who did not see Jesus directly but Jesus spoke to him. these men becomes what we know today as our apostolic fathers, these men alongside the old prophets, are foundation of our faith, with Christ being the cornerstone or holding stone of the foundation. Ephesians 2:20-22.

4. that's just the truth. God works in mysterious ways. if you can predict his ways or you know everything about his ways, then he is no longer God.

pls seek God sincerely and humbly. not vindictively and 'scientifically'. am sure he will speak to you in a way you did not expect or imagine.

IF God, is so all powerful, WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE? he said, ask anything in my name. And I will give you. That is a straightforward statement! ASK ANYTHING!
But simply ask God to bless your food, and he won't. If you think I'm lying, poison your food and ask God to bless it. He won't. Just don't use a lethal type. Or you'll die.

If an all powerful God cannot do something so simple, how can I be expected to fear him? I've never seen him, heard him, known him, felt him, or anything! He's . . . distant! Like a supernova in Andromeda galaxy. Even if it is dangerous, why would I fear it? It poses no threat to me.

At least I can see a supernova. I can't see God at all.

But no matter the questions we ask, you people keep defending him by saying he works in mysterious ways. Wtf?!

your understanding of scripture I must confess, is quite rusty.

1. whatever you ask should be ACCORDING to his will for you. even Jesus asked according to the Will of the father. at a time he wanted the cup of death to pass him by, but he however, still hinged on Gods will, which was, for him to die to atone for the sins of all.

2. thou shall not tempt the lord thy God. Jesus quoted this to counter the antics of the enemy. why will you know something is bad and still want to test God on it?

3. Jesus told Thomas, because you now see me you believed, blessed are those who have not seen me, yet believe. it is called FAITH. God operates in our lives through our faith in him according to his word. if you want to see God, sincerely pray and study his word. he will start by revealing himself to you through his word, because through his word, you discover him, and he begins to draw closer to you.

4. God works in mysterious ways, my testimony in life is a proof to that. that are ways I would expect God to respond to my request or avert an event, rather, his does it his way. I may not understand it at first, but on the long run, I begin to see his purpose in everything, whether good or bad.

I believed UNN has always been more prestigious than UNILAG, and overtime, the crop of alumni harvested from each school proves me right. you don't have to be believe my story. after all, its not your story.

don't get me wrong even, I chose unilag because of its proximity, not because it was better than nsukka. at the end, I still had to go to nsukka and i thank God I did.

Jesus said, "by their fruits ye shall know them". true men of God are sons who serve their father in heaven. there are other men of God who are servants but not sons, the bible calls them " vessels unto dishonor ", they are made to be used and disposed because of their hypocritical way of life like the Pharisees. they are gifted and anointed, but at on judgement day, God rejects them. the scripture calls these the "mystery of iniquity".

criticizing actions of men of God considered to be unbecoming is not wrong, in fact , it shows you are a true servant and custodian of the gospel. see 1Timothy 4:1-6, especially the v6. a true minister should criticize any wrong thing he sees or hears, but should criticize with love, understanding, and with scriptural back up.

Christianity in particular (especially in Nigeria) is a money making venture and a business entity.

Have u seen how many pastors own private jets in the country along with universities and other large business enterprises yet they have members in their churches who can't feed three times daily.

To make matters worse, you see some who shout at the top of their voices during the service "My God is not a God of N50"!

"My God is not a God of N100"!!!

"If you have any of those denominations better not come forward so God does not disgrace you.

Some even tell members to wave their offerings in the air before coming out to give the offerings to God. Those with little denominations would simply hide theirs to avoid any form of embarassment.

For those who would say I should forget all that cos salvation is personal, I truly agree with you, hence I have decided to stop attending any church and to give 10% of my monthly salary to an orhanage of my choice or help any one in need around me.

you can worship anywhere but you can't be fed anywhere. pastors, teachers, prophets, evangelist, apostle, are different offices designed by God to groom and nourish believers. wherever you are, be connected to a worship session whether online or at the main auditorium. God bless you.

OP, you going to church is a spiritual obligation, not a religious obligation. you are going to church to WORSHIP, not to meet or please anybody. my advice to you is to go to church and worship God, don't commit yourself too much into activities considering the nature of your job. God is not vindictive. your pastor and pastor Mrs. were just being human and insensitive, but I really think you should meet them in person and tell them how their actions have stumbled you. let them know their mistake.

I doubt if you were completely innocent too. were you going to church for the money/material benefit or because you enjoy worshipping together with the congregation? be sincere with yourself sir.

the true church of God is a spiritual body, not a religious organization. it is not every sacrifice of praise and worship from people that is acceptable unto God, because most people today do not worship God IN TRUTH and IN SPIRIT. pls my beloved brother, do not fall into this category of people.
