The Man Sanusi is a destroyer in disguise cos when he first came into the show last year it was as if our redemer has come, but as time went by he started unveiling his wolves nature thereby putting aside his initial sheep cloths. From what i have seen from his reforms he deserves not to be CBN governor by tomorrow. He is just an islamic scholar pretending to be an Economics just for the sole purpose of islamizing our Economy. Zap. O.F.F Mr Lamido Sanusi cos your time is actually up mahn.

It took me time to read virtually all the perspectives from divers contributors. The truth is that Prof. Iwu is not INEC's problem. If all of us would tell ourselves the truth, we will realise that he(IWU) was appointed by the federal gov't (i.e PDP) and you don't expect him to work against the vision of his employers which is to rule the whole of 36 states of the federation including FCT. The only blame i portioned to him is that he could have resigned to uphold his integrity as an internationally respected Pharmacist. Mind you all that the Remedy to INEC will never come through the Chairman of INEC(who is an appointee of the PDP gov't) unless a reform in our electoral system is implemented. Common Nigerians! Lets pressurize Mr Ag into implementing the UWAIS REPORT. God bless Nigeria!!!

Gbawe,

Heheheh, you sound very confused. You come here thrashing Ghanaians with so much hatred and yet you are telling me you can't leave. You have a Ghanaian wife so what? If you see problems which does not exist or want to make mountains out of ant hills then it’s about time you hit the road to a less xenophobic area or better still to Nigeria, your country. You come here talking as if Nigeria is heaven and yet you are stuck in Ghana. Family? No problem, pack everybody and go back to your heaven.

Better Nigerians who are schooling and appreciate the hospitality of Ghanaians and don't see the so-called xenophobic Ghanaians Gbawe sees don't come here and talk thrash about Ghana. I am a Ghanaian and I know Ghanaians are the last people who would hate foreigners unless and I repeat unless the foreigners come and try to crap over their land. You have buried your head deep somewhere and have refused consistently that Nigerians have often been problematic any where they go. There is a history of your behavior in countries all over and yet you try to rationalize and interpret it as Nigerians being smart. Let your people try putting up a good image and they would not have problems.

You have a Ghanaian wife so everything must be changed for you, right? Wrong. Many Nigerians in Ghana are dubiously acquiring Ghanaian passport thinking that would make them Ghanaians, hell no. The same way I can’t go to Nigeria, get a Nigeria wife or passport and try to play the alpha male in town. You people don’t get it.
Your point is? Trash this brainless comments to the recycle bin plz! NEXT!!

Shesi , you are the worst of the Ghanaian posters here. You lie shamelessly and I have exposed you several times in the past. You are rude and irreverent. Attacking folks you know nothing about is the hallmark of your writing style. You make wild claims that defy logic in your attempt to usurp what you do not possess all in the desperation to measure up to those you feel inadequate in comparison to .

These day , if you do not know , it is not the diasporan "who could not hack it in London" who are moving back to Africa. Unlike you who , by your own admission , has been away from Ghana for a long time (probably with nothing to show for vast years abroad) , the diasporans moving back are often those who are extremely successful in the diaspora and now wanting to consolidate on that success and , if they have kids, provide an enviroment where their children can grow up empowered with a winning mentality in their Africaness. Olodo like you would not understand this . Many have several homes/shares/stock/general inevstments they have remortgaged or cashed in to release the type of funds that would ensure they enter Africa with superlative business models. A fool like you would not know this because empty pontification on the net is what you do while you go to your menial job in the diaspora freezing yourself to death daily.

My own cousin is opening an IKEA-type concept in Nigeria soon. After fifteen years in the UK he was at the top of the tree as an IT project manager earning close to $6000 a week with several homes (personal and rented). He is now living in Nigeria with his family . That is an example of those moving back while haters like you remain abroad commenting on issues you know nothing about and foolishly and ignorantly thinking everyone wants to die worshipping "Obroni" like you . It is unlikely you can become a Dangote or Alhaji Banda wherever you are in the diaspora but many  Africans , already very successful in the diaspora, now realise that they can get to the Banda, Dangote level by moving back home with dual benefits of raising cultured kids.

Unlike your brother K4 , who bragged of doing great things in Nigeria, I am not interested in chest-thumping . If , with your low ambition , loser mentality and poor grasp of the relocating diaspora , you sleep better viewing me as a failed diasporan then be my guest.

The likes of you will always contend that Nigerians envy you and that is why we talk . Not so at all . I actually pity a lot of you. You are weak and easily dominated . you show no substantial ambition, panache or zest. Even in your own Country , and backed by your own Government,  you are third best at everything .

Let me give a perfect example of the dithering weakness and lack of ambition, innovation and business charisma that indicates how , logically,  it must be many Ghanaian men who envy their Nigerian couterpart - to the extent that in exposed climes like the UK Ghanaian women are marrying Nigerian men and ABG (meaning anyone but Ghanaian as explained to me by a Ghanaian girlfriend of my wife) more than any other African women are marrying men not from their region of origin.

Oxford Street at Osu is probably the number premier high street in Ghana . Ask my Ghanaian brothers how many Ghanaian companies are operating on this prime location in their own Country!!! We have Somovision, Frankies,Papaye, Koala, Binatone and many other Lebanese electronic shop and ventures. MTN (South African ) is present. Zain (Saudi Arabia) is there too along with Dynasty and about one or two other Chinese Restaurant. Chicken Republic and Glo (Nigerian) are included too. Now why would any Nigerian envy men who , on their own soil and accounting for local advantage, allow foreigners to totally dominate even the most mundane of businesses ?

I could go on. You guys should face facts. No sane Nigerian man would envy a Ghanaian man. What Nigerians find admirable about Ghana is its constant electricity, stable democracy and relatively peaceful society. I doubt any Nigerian man would look at a Ghanaian and think I want to be like him when , on a man-to-man basis , the Nigerian is more domineering, more driven, more innovative , more charismatic and simply more effective. My brother the envy , naturally , can simply and logically only be one way.
You Summarized the whole discourse. This is really the END OF DISCUSSION!

My greatest wish is to see all Nigerians pull out their so-called investments from Ghana, even if for six months- and let’s see what impact that will have on the Ghanaian economy. In my opinion, that will settle the debate about how much ‘investment’ Nigerians are making in Ghana.

To the other fellow who says this is a Nigerian site and if we don’t like we should go away. Well, I have no problem with this being a Nigerian web site exclusively for Nigerians. But then you must as well talk solely about Nigeria. If you make other countries an issue then it no longer becomes a Nigerian site. For everyone who feels vilified has the right to hit back and in the manner he deems appropriate. We all don’t have the same temperament so blame the person who goes out of his/her way to start a quarrel. Search the thread; I did not start the insults. Go back and identify those who thought an innocuous request for information regarding a young Nigerian woman’s desire to relocate to Ghana was a perfect opportunity to exhibit their morbid hatred for the Motherland. I guess you guys didn't see that unwarranted attack on Ghana, huh? I only responded to it, so why blame me? I have the right to hit back and I will always exercise that right with the highest degree of passion, commitment and venom whether on nairaland or any where else. Again, what rubbish!
Go get a life because You are lacking One Chale. From what i have seen here You're never an Abrantie, you're a bad en wicked poor Ghanaman. When i was in Ghana(Fly-top Achimota to be precise) i have 3 ghanaians in my payroll eventhough i was working under my uncles company then. Do you know what? They call me Master Boss, why? Because i sustain their families en pay their bills yet i was only 18/19 years. When i came back to Nigeria three of them became jobless en two started selling coconut while the other one became a scavenger. If i may ask, What do you know about employment and Job creation? Have you ever in your life employed people to work for you? If no, then i'll never reply your post cos we're not in the same league.

Makola is not a Ghanaian name. It is a name given by the Yurubas from Ibadan who settled in Accra in those times. The last time I checked, there was a Makola market in Ibadan. Someone should prove me wrong

There is a section of Houston nicknamed "Lagos". Are Americans from Nigeria too? Is Alata a nigerian word?

Do you also mean to suggest that Hausa is a nigerian language? you must not be well educated/travelled are you? Hausa is spoken widely across West Africa. From Senegal to Chad to Mali to Mauritania etc etc etc.

Stop masquerading as a Ghanaian. You are no Ghanaian. Zongo is now a nigerian word? are you farrking kidding me? Since when was Accra Newton called Lagostown? i grew up in Accra (before there was a suburd called Newtown,so tell me)
How is Tudu, Makola, et al of nigerian origin? are you high? btw, mentioning those names does not convince me one bit that you are ghanaian. quite the opposite actually. Especially since you mention Tudu. Tudu of all place? do you know the history of that place Tudu?

You seem to be saying that all the northern ghana people are from nigeria. You couldn't be more wrong. Most of the inhabitants of modern day Northern Ghana came down from Timbuktu. Present day Mali. The only Ghanaian tribe originated from present day Benin/Nigeria region are the Gas. And they originally came from the Horn of Africa region. Stopping at several points before finally settling where they are now.

Don't get it twisted. There will never be any trooping of ghanaians into nigeria. For what?

you are a kid. you don't know what you're talking about. sit back and let grown ups educate you.
The Makola Market is owned by who? The name Makola is it a Ghana name? What were you trying to insinuate? Plz man Educate me i want to know better chale.

K4:
Look my honest opinion is that Ghanaians and Nigerians can never get along, because we are very different people. Yes, very different. You guys can talk all the talk but the reality is that Nigeria can never claim to be better than Ghana today. Do you guys know that unemployment in Nigeria is officially 80%? Why do you think everyone is an okada rider, in fact some ‘university’ graduates charge cell phones to make a living in some of your major cities-because most people can’t even have electricity to charge their phones! And what about the army of kidnappers, ritualists and ‘armu’ robbers. Do you also know that 90% of Nigerians survive on less than $2 a day? I don’t even think you know the level of poverty in Nigeria and Ghana. And while Ghana is on track to meeting the MDG goals on key sectors like poverty alleviation, access to education(by the way the number of Nigerians seeking admission into Ghanaian schools is indeed very frightening), and health care while Nigeria is far, far behind and has no prospect of meeting any of the targets set out in the MDG programme.

I don’t give a damn whether you folks think Nigeria is better than Ghana or vice versa. Why should I care when the concern should be how many citizens or inhabitants have access to potable water, how effective is security for the ordinary citizen, how good are the roads, health care, how many people can afford food etc. I guess most of you look at how prosperous a country is by the number if mansions, skyscrapers, limos, how mighty and tall one’s gele is, how many citizens are able to block streets in the neighbourhood to throw those audacious parties. I don’t know how some of you measure prosperity, but I will advise you look for the UN human development index to see how Nigeria fares. I guess some of you know the truth but will never admit, huh? How many Nigerians have access to potable water, how many Nigerians can sleep with their two eyes closed at night, how many hours of public electricity (PHCN) can you get? What is the life expectancy in Nigeria, compared with other West African countries, especially Ghana?

For everyone, including Nigerians, we want to have a good life-drive on good roads, sleep with our two eyes shut at night, eat three descent meals, have good education for my children, and generally provide a standard of life that ensures that I stay healthy for many more years-enhancing my life expectancy. Which of these two countries provide these conditions better? Forget about the limos, the skyscrapers, the big agbadas, geles etc. What is a limo when there are no good roads to drive them on, what is a skyscraper when there is no electricity to power the lift to the 20th floor, for example. I have a lawyer friend from the east-an Igbo based in Abuja- he can’t even drive any of his powerful cars to his village! The ‘landlords’ will deal with him.

My candid advice is Nigeria has a lot of challenges-just like Ghana- and should focus on addressing them. This obsession with Ghana will not get your problems solved. As far as most of you are concerned, Nigeria is better than Ghana. If that makes you happy and helps to massage your zuma rock-like ego, fine. I know better!

Gbawe, I think you’ve got yourself a good wife. At least she can stand up for you.

Sonofpeace, don’t expose your ignorance, huh? The way you are going I wouldn’t be surprised if you end saying Nigeria owns the whole of Ghana, huh? Who told you that a Nigerian owns Tema refinery and the west African gas project? You sound very ignorant, just like a number of people posting comments on this thread. Go and find out who really owns the Tema refinery and wagp before you come here to post rubbish.
For your information Nigeria budget were used to sponsor West Africa Gas Pipeline Project by the then Obj administration and Yes Tema Refinery is owned by a Nigerian in the person of, I won't name cos its a big secret atleast for now, but i promise you that one day you'll know better.

I don't have any problem with ghanaians, infact i have many ghanaian friends up till now i am in Nigeria but it baffles me to hear some ghanaians like k4 insulting Nigeria and Nigerians after all that we have done and are still doing for them. My uncle employed not less than 5 ghanaians, 3 of them are married with kids yet fools like K4 does not see that. There is one big truth most of the ghanaians usually deny and that is; before Nigerian companies/investors came to ghana, ghanaians were stripped of their hard earned Cedes by Lebanese companies such as Melcon, Lava etc, but Nigerians came and changed the quality and amount of goods and services ghanaians consumed to a high quality and cheaper rate respectively.Tema refinery is owned by a Nigerian. The list of investment contributed to Ghana Econony by Nigerians is endless. Name one successful company in Nigeria owned by a ghanaian and i will name 5 companies in Ghana owned by Nigerians.

I live and work in Ghana presently. I can tell you there is no much difference in the two worlds be sincere, there are much more difference my dear. Except of course Lagos, Abuja, P/H and other cities in Naija, churn out bigger and better opportunities than Ghana. And again, by Ghana you are referring to Accra. Accra is the most developed part of Ghana, and that is where 80% of the businesses are. You are just trying to promote Nigeria, haven't you being to Cape Coast(tourism), Kumasi(business hub of Ghana), Takoradi? Here are some of the things that might interest you:

Accommodation
Accommodation in accra (like every other place in the world) is relative to location. A two bedroom apartment in East Legon will you compare East Legon or Dansoman hills with VI or Lekki? may cost you 200 - 350 ghana cedi monthly (around 21 - 36K montly) if you are lucky. If you are unlucky, the price may be quoted in dollars starting from 200 - 350.). You can get a self-contain aka hall and chamber (in ghana) from 120 cedi to 200 cedi. Face-me-I-slap-you (lol) sort accommodation are not very common there are many of face me i face, try Dakuman, Tabora/Alhaji, some few parts of Achimota or you go as far as Medien. (perhaps I haven't searched yet). But nevertheless, you can get ghetto style accommodation for like 30 - 50 cedi (N3000 - N5000) if you are connected.

True talk!

Transport
Transport by bus is cheap. (In comparative cost, a journey from Ojota to Oshodi by bus in ghana will cost around 50 pesewa (N60). But you wont have the luxury (or discomfort if you may) of Okada (for short distance). So either you walk or take a taxi (2 cedis for short trip). That would be N210 or thereabout. The road network are also good and well maintained.

True!
Food:
Same applied to Naija. But their eateries appear cheaper. 6 - 8 ghana cedi (N600 - N800) will buy you a decent meal in most restaurant. Should you prefer to cook your meal, you will be surprised to find that gas is very cheap here. Kerosene stoves are relatively unknown.Truth! Rice, beans, yam, garri, plantain, corn etc are readily available. If you are 'food-venturous', kenkey, fufu, banku, wakye are other options. I am not food-venturous.

Most of their native foods are junk-like foods except Tilapia soup
People and Culture:
The people are generally nice. But the hostility towards Nigerians is not a mirage. It's a clear and present danger. I hope and pray a South African style of Xenophobia does not erupt. False! It's a little difficult to get accommodation in ghana if you are a Nigerian. You generally will be given that 'look' of skepticism. A trader once refused to entertain inquiry on availability of goods simply because of my Nigerian accent. Anyway, I took my money to another willing one. Nevertheless, if you are doing genuine business, and have not skeleton in your closet, rest assured you are covered. You will not be harassed or harangued unnecessary. Stand firm!

Security:
Security is a function of number of poor, jobless and homeless individual around a particular place. Accra is not overcrowded (not yet) hence general safe. But safety demands you should not be some particular place at some time - Tema station, Tudu, Nima, Ashiama, are place to generally avoid once your time start ticking 8, 9 pm. Again, burglary is fast becoming a fad in ghana.Mayb things av changed! I have heard plenty of stories about that. I personally have been burgled once. Armed robbery is not rampant, or perhaps because the police dealt severally with many of them last year - killing plenty robber in many shoot-outs. They might be hibernating, or mostly changed profession to something less sinister.

Police:
The police are generally courteous, and well behave. They dress neatly and appear better equipped. But don't be fooled by appearance, they love money, tips or bribes. A colleague of mine (Nigerian) was burgled  (for the second time). He went to report police. They made him him part with money while he was filing his complaints. The burglar who also stole his ATM card and attempted to obtain money from an ATM. Naturally the machines seized the card after the third attempt. He was able to obtain a picture of the guy from the bank's ATM camera. On presentation of such hard evidence to the police, they still asked him for a tip! He flared up! They play it our way cos we're corrupt.

Job/Employment:
To get a good job, you will first clear the hurdle of resident and work permit. I know someone who has been trying to obtain one for over six months. Mine was done by the company I work with.  The Ghanaian economy is not as deep as that of Nigeria. If you want to hustle, hustling in Naija is more profitable. The oil discovery in Ghana may be a game changer, but as at now, the game has not changed.
Very True!

Finally,
Ghana is not better than Naija and vice versa. The most important difference between Accra and Lagos is power supply. And security. If power is your biggest need, then you may relocate, but if opportunities is what you seek - Naija is the place! I love Naija, and miss home seriously. If a good job offer in Naija I be home before you could say Accra - Ghana. A good paying job in IT Auditing as a CISA is my next stop. Any offer?
Come bak then!

WARNING:
Don't come to Accra empty handed, they city is not friendly to poor man. True!

Chris561:
Education is so important. We Africans tend to wish to focus on money more than to educate ourselves about our history and existence as Africans. Majority of the African population carry the recessive gene for albinism, especially in NIGERIA. The only difference is that most people have not mated with their match ( meaning another person with recessive gene for albinism). So to walk around telling oneself that you are not albino nor is any member of your family albino is a self deceptive idea. Recessive trait for albinism is been carried around the entire African population, which means we are all carriers for the trait (I know the truth could be scary for some, but nature does what it wishes with or without our consent). The question becomes what is the true origin of albinism not can you marry an albino. People marry Aids, diseased and sick individual everyday. And they do so because they look like what society perceive to be physically acceptable. Albion individuals ( which l personally do not like to use the word albino, for is it the same branding as calling someone the N word) is the most intellectual, loyal, calm, spiritually evaluated person you can ever come across. Sadly enough everything most people are look for (love, respect, take-in care of, appreciation, acceptance, etc) in the so call normal looking person is a package in an albino. My personal perspective is that nature allow such variation to give us the time to think about ourselves in terms of our racism, resentment to something that does not fit into our liking, and also test our so call faith, believe in whatever GOD we look up.
Thank You My Brother. God Bless You!

As a Ghanaian, I may not try to comment on it. But I think I should. I agree with those who advice that you should first try and make inquiries and take one or two trips. The most important thing is making CONTACTS. And the truth is, it is not going to be easy living outside your home. It is the same everywhere, be it Ghana or Afghanistan.

There are Ghanaians who are making it in Nigeria, (my brother is still in Jos) and vice versa. So it is how you are able to leap yourself that allows you to make it wherever you will be.

I however disagree with the assertion  that Ghanaians are generally hostile towards Nigerians. As in any human institutions, there are some bad nuts. But I believe Nigerians find themselves in certain hostile environments due to some doings by some their country men. So it is up to the good ones to prove that Nigerians are not what some people perceived them to be in terms of bad habits. I love the initiative taken by the Nigerian Ambassador in Ghana to sensitise Nigerians in Ghana on the need to have good names for themselves. Come to a place called Zongo Lane in Accra. About 75% of those repairing electronics are Nigerians and many other places.

I love nija, otherwise I would not be here.
You are supported. I have lived and worked in Ghana. During my days in ghana i did not have any problem with ghanaians. I came back to Nigeria to attend higher Education cos theirs was relatively costly back then. They were cool, loving and peaceful people that accommodates everybody espeacially we Nigerians. @poster, Ghana is a decent place to live especially if you have backups (i.e. Having money or relatives/friends), but first you need to have a personal knowledge of ghana before you embark on this life journey.
