While building my first home in the South-South was a significant achievement, it was a decision born more out of spontaneity than long-term planning. I had been transferred there for work and, with a piece of free land and available capital, I decided to build. However, looking back with the benefit of hindsight and considering the current socio-political climate, I realized my priority was to establish roots within my own region in the South-West.
My decision to sell and relocate was driven by four key factors:
* Cultural Connection & Security: In light of the current tribal politics in the country, I felt a strong need to be among my people. I wanted to ensure my primary investments were in a region where I felt a true sense of belonging and long-term security.
* Legal Peace of Mind: Though I am not a legal expert, I am wary of land disputes. Witnessing a case where original landowners successfully reclaimed property from an occupant—despite their years of residence—made me realize I didn't want to leave anything to chance.
* Strategic Financial Gain: The offer I received for the property was exceptional. It provided enough capital to purchase a standard house in Lagos, fund a complete renovation, and still leave me with a significant amount. BTW, once the renovations on the Lagos house are complete, I will be saving a substantial portion of my housing allowance, which was previously a heavy expense.
* A Consistent Sense of "Home" for My Daughter: Most importantly, I wanted to provide my daughter with a clear sense of identity. Instead of confusing her with multiple "homes" across the country, I wanted her to have one true home base where she could grow up surrounded by her extended family.


Ultimately, I believe I've traded a spontaneous project for a legacy that offers both peace of mind and financial freedom.

The only solid reason I see is funding your house project in Lagos. What do you mean by " not wanting to confuse your daughter 😅😅😅"

Truth is you don't owe your mentor/boss any explanation but at the same time you do. And given that you feeling pricked shows maybe you should have told her even if in passing.

If you can make the argument strong enough for your house in Lagos, then use that to drop the message for her when she asks why. I say strong enough because I suspect you could have chested the project without selling. Maybe it only takes a year or two more to pay everything off.

Highest she vex then you find time later to tell her "ema binou ma".

Good morning guys, I need clarification on something.
Some years ago, we were paid quite a sum at work, you know one of these unbelievable bonuses. One of my bosses who's always liked me called on me and advised I put the money to good use.
She specifically advised I should start working on building a house and she gifted me a parcel of land in a government reserved area to encourage me.

I have all necessary documents; The original Certificate of Occupancy and Deed of gifts with governor's consent.

The project took off and was completed the following year.
She was happy for me, congratulated me and that was the last time we talked about it. It's been over four years now.

I sold the house some weeks back and I'm wondering if I should have carried her along or engaged her dutifully from some legal standpoint.
Money is never her problem really, I'm just curious if normalcy demands I should have sought her permission before making the decision. One, as a boss who wants to see me do well in life. Two, as the gifter. Three, if there is any legal implications of not involving her or possible breach of intention.

Why did you sell it in the first place? That can form the basis for the conversation.

Was it because you don't like the area, you got another house or you want to Japa?

And for someone so interested in you, she could have counselled you to rent the place, sell it or assist you with funds/loans if there was a challenge.

I can advise better if you state your why.

Yes you can use it but unless necessary or will improve your chances, don't mention anything that will add to your stress especially with getting LOR or other valuable evidence of such work experience. Keep things simple.

1. Try and love yourself. Have your own fun and activities that are for you. I'm not saying you should redirect your focus or efforts cause that will year your marriage apart.

2. Try and initiate things with your husband. Outings, visits, dates, etc.

3. Discuss what you want with your husband. Anything you haven't constructively tried to trash out with him at least 3 times should not be heard by an outsider.

Never heard of them flunking tests and practical training. Even those that look young on the job usually look unfit.

1). They CANNOT arrest you over civil matters
The police have no business arresting anyone because of:
debts
rent issues
boyfriend–girlfriend quarrels
business disagreements
“He insulted me”
Those are civil matters. The police exist for crime, not private disputes.

2). They CANNOT beat, slap, torture, or brutalize you
No officer has the right to “discipline” you.
Torture is illegal whether physical, verbal, or psychological. Even if you’re a suspect, you are still entitled to dignity under the law.

3). They CANNOT search your phone without your consent or a warrant
Your phone is private property. They cannot forcefully open your messages, read your chats,
go through your gallery, access your banking apps
unless there is a lawful basis like a court warrant or immediate suspicion connected to the crime they stopped you for.

4). They CANNOT detain you longer than 24–48 hours without charging you

Dear Nigerians, upon all the cross over services you went to all your life, how did it ever improve your life or destiny. As for me, it was always a waste of my time. I'm am successful today and that is as a result of God's help and not sabotaging my self with self inflicted injuries like bad choices in life and people. I went to numerous cross overs but it never improved my life in any form. I should've spent my time sipping wine at home. This man's predicament just goes to show how useless our governments are. Local, state and Federal government - Legislative, executive and judiciary.

They really have nothing to offer us. We shouldn't forget that what we have here is a pardon. The man was actually convicted and sentenced to death.
