Politics / Nigerian Passport Renewal In Atlanta by SophiaLisa(f): 5:23pm On Sep 25, 2020
Happy Friday to you All! Please does anyone have information or a contact at the Nigerian Embassy in Atlanta? I love and work in the US as H1B and urgently need to renew my Driver’s License and also travel which requires me having an unexpired means of ID (in this case my Nigerian Passport). I applied and selected the Atlanta office because, apparently, that’s the only functional office post COVID. But I’m yet to get any appointment date. I’ve called multiple times and sent emails to no avail. Please for the Love of God, please if you have any information that can help me, I’ll truly appreciate it. God bless you. Amen.

Only the smart ones will deduce this analogy kiss

Thanks for sharing! I’ve been to Ogbunike Cave. This was years ago during my high school excursion. It was a site to behold. I can’t wait to revisit this stunning landmark.

Good Morning LagosNiV,

Please clarify. My F1 visa expires in February 2018, while my Post-OPT expires in May 2018. What documents do I need to renew the F1 visa in Nigeria? Would it be worth the the money and time to come for my renewal? Your guidance will be appreciated!

Oh sorry about your experience. I don't know your definition for a good city. To me, Manhattan, Brooklyn or 2/3 of the Bronx doesn't fit in a good city for living. I came from the southern US and can't withstand the filth and filthy look of Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx. 1/3 of Queens is good but the majority of Queens is far from the city (NYC). I live in south Staten Island that look more like the south U.S. 1/3 of Staten Island is bad too but the south where I'm has clean roads and safe neighborhoods, being the fact that it's white dominated part.

So where are you in Staten Island?

Hi, I am in Wandel Avenue, Staten island.

Thanks for the words.

Please PM if interested.

Good Day All,

On Tuesday morning, was at the Lagos Consulate for my F1 interview (Sorry for the late post).

Please view my transcript below;
VO: Please come forward.
SL: Good morning.
VO: (no response; He must have been cranky). *Flips through my passport*. So you have a running B1/B2 Visa
SL: Yes.
VO: So why do you want to study an MBA ....
SL: No, not an MBA. Its a Mastes degree.
VO: I'm sorry, why do you want to go for a Masters in Project Management?
SL: *Gave him my story, linking it with my being an Investment Banker*. When I was done, I said, and here's a letter of introduction from my company.
VO: Without looking up, he kept typing but said "Never mind".
VO: So, have you paid the SEVIS fee?.
SL: Yes I have. It's right there (pointed at the paper in front of him which he clearly missed out).
VO: (Keeps typing and typing and typing).
VO: Your visa has been approved, pick it up in three business days. Also, make sure you don't present the B1/B2 visa at the POE so it doesn't raise any issues.
SL: Thank you very much.
SL: So the B1/B2 visa is still valid?
VO: Yes it is.

I thanked him again and left!

Thanks to God, everyone that prayed with me as well as the Special tips from AKO1, KennyRonny, Meritdee.

Tuesday was just miraculous because before me, they had only approved a visa for 1 woman and her daughter (an Indian). Every other person had a blue paper (denial). In fact, the three F1 applicants ahead of me were rejected out-rightly. I remember praying as I walked before the VO. God is faithful and kind.

Next off, who lives in New York here oooooo. Looking to share an apartment. smiley

Thanks alot.

I'd take out those points.

However, should I state where I'd be stayine i.e off campus? or should I just mention that.

kennyrony:

You have a good travelling history, but try and ignore the bolded. words. Never you tell the VO you will fund your studies through on-campus job, cos that's not a good response, as the money you will be earning through campus job can or might only cater for your accommodation and feeding.
Secondly Car Document is not a genuine document to present at the embassy, as that can't be a source of income for you when you are away. car is not an asset, it a liability. and
lastly .Telling the VO you will be staying with a friend might not be the best answer. You are a Graduate student, why not tell him/her you will be staying off campus or in school apartment. Telling the VO you will be staying with a friend might look as if you are not capable or financially buoyant.

I wish you all the best.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 8 by SophiaLisa(f): 5:17pm On Jan 07, 2016
Thank you so much for this!

meritdee:

To add to what AKO1 said.... Make sure your savings is enough for all the expenses listed on your I-20 for the first year.

And more importantly, try to find the relationship between your undergraduate degree/work experience and MsPM. E.g. integration of Accounting and Administration into Project management.

Why this course? It will equip me with the skill and systematic understanding of management related issues to seek advanced leadership position in our Accounting and Administration sector. ( Here: this is you reminding the VO of your work experience and its relationship with Project management by just stating the scope of Project management to that field)

I hope this helps.

Good luck and God bless you.
Travel / Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 8 by SophiaLisa(f): 4:20pm On Jan 06, 2016
Thanks a-lot Bro!

AKO1:

All the VO wants to know is that you're actually going to study, you can pay for it, and you will come back at the end. Don't lie, don't contradict what you filled in the DS-160, speak and stand confidently, keep answers brief and to the point, don't give any documents you're not asked for.

Might be a good idea to take along some kind of proof of your employment like your offer letter or ID card, since it looks like that's about your strongest tie to Nigeria.

Since you don't have an on-campus job offer, it might not be a good idea to use the mere prospect as evidence of your ability to pay your way. Other people here may have different opinions on this.

Good luck.

Hello Ladies,

God bless you all now and in advance!

Biko I need clarification.

My SIL wants to deliver in the USA. We have relatives in New York and we specified their address as where we (my SIL, my Bro and I) will be staying pending her delivery and afterwards.

We have been in contact with NY hospitals such as Mount Sinai, Montefiore and St. John's Episcopal but they only sent bills and there has been no other mail from them even after my continuous calls and follow up emails.

Truth be told, their prices are HIGH from as USD$10, 963 to USD$22,600.

Well, since they stopped responding, we called around some affordable hospitals like Mercy Medical Centre, St Charles Hospital, Lincoln Hospital and Bronx Lebanon Hospital but they all said that they do not send email correspondences and only attend to clients who come in for physical tests.

Thankfully, through Nairaland and the wonderful contributors, DoctoresParati is the best bet in terms of cost, customer service and feedback.

However, it is in Dallas Texas! sad

Now my question is this: How do we convince the Visa Officer at the Lagos embassy that we are staying in NY but will have the baby in Texas? Please reply abeg. The interview is in TWO Weeks!!!

God Bless you all immensely!!!!

Guys, I said it's my opinion. You are entitled to yours. And because I don't support marrying outside due to the current unrest, does not make me a fanatic. Wait until you are faced with a situation like this, then you'd make your judgement. Only then will you be honest about this question asked.

Ps: No vex. tongue
Romance / Re: Brothers, Will You Allow Your ONLY Sister Marry A Staunch Muslim Or Vice Versa by SophiaLisa(f): 5:52pm On Jun 20, 2012
Hmmmm. Well, I doubt, with the state of killings and unrest in this country, I will allow my relation to marry outside. My 2cents.
Romance / Brothers, Will You Allow Your ONLY Sister Marry A Staunch Muslim Or Vice Versa by SophiaLisa(f): 2:16pm On Jun 20, 2012
As a devout Christian, will you allow your only sister to marry a staunch Muslim or vice versa (i.e as a devout Muslim, will you allow your only sister to marry a staunch Christian).

Please be honest and open. We need real answers especially with the ongoing 'rleigious crisis' in the Northern region.

Thanks
