No No No. HP 255 G Series are bunch of crap.
How can a laptop that runs heavy editing apps work with that meagre clock speed.
I bought a hp 255 G6 and am still regreting it. My 2gb ram and 2.5 ghz lappy is faster than that shít.
And its video card is wack. Too many BSOD Associated with that G series.
Made a mistake, i dont want someone to make that mistake.
So back to topic.
Op you need an intel core i5 with good sound card and at least 4gb video card.
Note Amd processors are crazy stick with the intel.
Maybe hp pavilion will do. Or Acer Aspire or Dell inspirion.
My personal spec for you-
1. 4GB ram, the more the merrier.
2. 2.5gh clock speed.
3. 500gb hdd.
4. 4gb video card.
5. High end Sound card.
6. Intel core i 5 or i3.
Search for these specs it is quite okay.
My G6 still experiences lags in Movie maker.

1. for my affiliate marketing i mostly use clickbank and i promote not less than 5-10 different products at a time and i have never heard of any limitation to number of products you can promote.

2. yes. every new product you want to promote needs a unique squeeze page. the squeeze pages can be on a single domain and hosting. this is the reason why i advice buying general name domains instead of niche specific domains. e.g supercourses over looseweight dot com. the reason is that you want to promote many products on the same domain. it will not look wise to promote make money products on looseweight domain.

3. yes if you can handle it. no if you cant. i personally promote any product in most niches if i have an hungry traffic for it. but this does not in anyway mean that a person subscribe to my make money list and i will start sending him dog training promotions. i will never do that.

4. a landing page is the page you direct your visitors to. if i say a landing page in this context i basically mean a squeeze page. a squeeze page is a single page where you collect potential buyer email addresses. partly answered in 3 above

5. visitors to your squeeze page are potential buyers. if they optin to your list, they are interested and most likely willing to buy. after subscribing to your squeeze page they should be redirected to your hoplink. that is the product you are promoting using your unique hoplink. if they buy instantly fine, if they dont, you already have their mails and your mailing series will follow them up.

BASIC is a nice first language. Problem is its limited in modern useful features.

My first language was FORTRAN, kinda similar to BASIC.

I actually thought of going the BASIC/FORTRAN route but thought about what would happen if I needed someone to take over teaching these kids. Where will I find someone who knows FORTRAN or BASIC?

At least, Java is very popular and many people know it and it has modern features still relevant today.

I think the sole purpose of programming lang is to solve problems computationly. Any language can do that.
But java is quite ambigous and has a deep learning curve. I tell you it took me 1 freaking year to master java core. Then i realised that i am still an intermediate when i saw java concurrency, regex, annotations. I just weak.
And the frameworks are just too much. I was busy mastering java 8 features unbeknowest to me java 11 is out!
And had already used swing for month until someone told me javafx is the future and swing updating has being stagnant.
Oracle are just messing around with java programmers. They cant make a frame work and stick to it.
Now they have also dropped development for javafx for Gluon community.
Ruby on rails might suite the kid tho i respect your opinion about java.
