Just read through the comments up there and yes i argree with the guy who said a thing of lacking creativity.
I surport with the following.
1. Most Naija programmers learnt by step by step youtube tutorials and by so doing they only master the language the way the online teacher teaches.
Eg I watch up a tutorial on how to make a website with php after being through with that and maybe a client request for a forum instead they start running around because what they learnt was mainly how to build a dynamic website.
Thats why its necessary to know a lang to its roots not just scratching the surface and boom! Hey guys am a web developer check my siggy.
If you know a language very well applying it to another development sector will be easy as pie. But No!! Nobody wants to apply patience and go through the programming language docs and functions.
2. Selfishness of the developer. Most naija programmers have this ' I dont want anyone to steal my idea ' syndrome but lack the skills to implement such idea.
Why not pay someone who have the skills to do it for you. Still Noway! They want to hold the yam and also hold the knife. They want to be the developer, the tester, the architect, the surveyor, the mason and the treasurer.
3. Lack of Brainstorm and Algorithmic thinking.
The sole purpose of programming is to serve as a tool to solve a problem not the other way round.
Why solving a problem that has an answer already? Why not look around you and check for things that needs automation. Thats why reading a Computer science course is quite important whether university or online.
How many new invented web apps has Nigeria? Nothing. We just rushing to build websites that a 5yr old american can do.
We want an easy walk in the park.
4. Excessive independency.
Everyone wants to build a startup company and answer the boss. But a friend of yours is also techy savvy. Why not invite him over?
Even Bill Gates had Paul allen who got his back.
We just want to be the Ceo of Microhard all by ourselves.
5. Lack of Resources.
At times we lack stable electrity or insufficient funds esp for those into Ai branch.
6. Lack of vision and Futuristic predictory sense.
Internet was a futuristic idea until someone made it. OS with Gui was futurustic until someone made it.
But here in Nigeria we all shy away from problems and blockage.

What branch of Computer science interests you? Lets from there.
If you want to be a Game devloper, a desktop app dev, ai dev etc all at the same time then you aint serious.
But first you must have.
1. A good solid neat and reliable laptop. At least 4gb ram < 8gb ram if you want to develop games>
2.5gh clock speed, intel core i5 or above/ amd a9 cpu, 2gb Nvidia graphics card, 500gb hdd or 250gb ssd, 4hours battery life, wifi and bluetooth enabled.
3. A good universal Modem. It comes in handy when you need to do a thing or two in the net.
4. A nice inverter. To power up your pc when Nepa f-up.
5. A good sub. I prefer doing my downloads at nite when must people are sleeping my 3g is usually full aka Night browsing. Airtel are good in nite plans. Get 2 or 3 Airtel sims then download as much tutorials, pdf, videos and anything related to your programming language of choice.
6. Download a game. Programming can be hectic at times so get something to ginger u up before you start coding.
Note- dont ever code in a dim environs it damages the eyes.

Its simple, tell him that you would be working and updating the site once every month for 5k per month.
How can you be giving out your knowledge, skill, time and resources with no adequate compensation.
Reason like an enterprenuer bro.

It depends on the company you are working for and the kind of field of computer science you specialise in.
Most graduate programmers in Naija work in banks with a salary of 90k to 120k for starters. Then it might increase to 200k or more based on experience.
Software developers who knows java and c++ are paid more, say 120k to 500k, these guys usually work in government ict centers, banks and financial institute.
Web developers <PHP, html, css, javascript> may earn 50k to 120k because of the presence of many web developers in Nigeria thereby making a competetive labour. Tho these peeps can earn a 1m based on contract or connection. Like the Nigerian airways was made at 5m or so.
So they got luck on their tail.
Mobile developers < andriod and ios > earn like 80k to 200k because they are in great demand by most website companies in niaja.
This just a rough draft, i didnt carry out a survey. Just scraped data from real live scenario in Niaja.
But try to be your own IT boss, Get some cash and startup your company.
