neyobills: As for the embassy thing I can assure you that a school cert holder going with a good verifiable buisness here in Nigeria has a higher chance of getting a visa than a bachelors degree holder going for Masters, don’t take my word for it ask a reputable travel agent you know because the embassy believes someone with a successful buisness here in Nigeria has a higher tendency of coming back home after the program than a bachelors degree holder who has nothing at stake back in his home country than his certification, you have a degree yet no buisness or verifiable work experience dude your chances are slimmer even with both of them having the same amount of funds,it’s common sense.
We have a misconception about education in Nigeria I guess partly due to the economy, after I left the shores of Nigeria to my base,I started looking for jobs but there weren’t forthcoming until I was advised to downgrade my qualification because perhaps even the HR manager that would take a look at my CV didn’t have as much certifications as i did and I would be over employed for most of the jobs available,it was first unheard of for me but trust me that’s what helped me.
We place too much emphasis on university education in Nigeria however it doesn’t work that way in saner climes, like why would anyone have a Masters or PhD and be looking for jobs this caliber of people are supposed to be in the research field as far as they are concerned, you don’t even need a university degree to get a decent job, there are tons of certifications out there,I have seen too many dull graduates in Nigeria what impact has those graduates made in their field,we are still using the same crude equipments been used decades ago to build houses, same ol brick making machines decades ago, same grinding machines used decades ago,how many new varieties of cassava have we developed, how many new indigenous poultry housing systems have we developed, how many startup hubs do we have, how many industrial clusters do we have.
Most just want to be garbage in garbage out certificate holders to earning fat salaries and eureka, that’s all they desire, how many Nigerian universities are even globally recognized anyway.
Unfortunately we are in the AI age, having an IT certification is even looking more lucrative than having a university degree.soon most things would be automated and this degrees would have little or no impact since robots are taking over soon, the corovirus lockdown was just a test phase of getting on what robots taking over would look like, all the degree holders were either layed off or had to work from work home, knowledge is power the certification is just its universal accepted unit so I’m not saying it’s totally useless however the exposure and experience you get in the university is even worth more than the certification in reality.
As for the family of the op fiancée saying they won’t allow their daughter to marry him because he is an ssce holder speaks more of the relationship of the lady with her parents kinda infantile, however the young man should count his losses and move on because if the guy is doing well for himself and with the little he wrote sounds literate enough then he should be good to go for any reasonable family, they have this Stone Age mentality or perhaps the lady is her familys retirement plan. I don hear you sir They say make i no talk again. |

I wonder whether you have comprehension difficulties because it is not clear what you understand me to be saying . You were the one boasting about yourself and I set you straight You are just jumping from one topic to the other very incoherently. What has embassy got to do with what I said The point is simple not everyone needs formal education to do well in life.It is OK for some but not everyone and there are examples like that all over the place
Everything else you are saying is your illiterate interpretation of things I never said. Please kindly point out where i was boasting about my personal self? Everything I've said so far pertaining to myself as a case study was based on "Instance" please don't quote me out of context. You don't need a soothsayers to tell you that not everyone will do well with or without formal education. Besides, formal education isn't meant to make you rich or whataview. Nothing can stop you from being rich if destined to and have access to the right information. Education has nothing whatsoever to do with richness. Nonetheless, it'd be a plus if one had formal education no matter how little it is You asked for fact to my claim that people who got education had more opportunities to leave the shores of the country. Didn't you? Then i told you to bring someone who had just school cert and business doing with other person who had a degree and wanting to explore to other countries like US, UK, Canada et al. Then watch and see who US or UK embassy would gladly grant her request amongst both parties. That's a real life scenario i put up there. At least, if you claimed you don't know that those countries are majorly accepting those who had good education and wanting to make futher research through studies and possibly get PR and become citizens with time. Then you can make do with the life scenario i put up there as the fact that you are seeking for If paradventure you need more input or fact to my claim then you should visit the travel session of this beautiful forum. 0m0nnakoda: Not everyone will be an employer you are right. Not everyone wants to be an employee I only compared you based on what YOU WROTE> No one forced you to write it If you want to retract it , fine but you are the one that was making empty boasts
Secondary school education is formal and so you are mis-formulating the issues You do not know what education is. Degrees are not what make you educated. Many people have them and are worse than useless. We are living in an internet era and anyone can educate himself about virtually anything You are AGAIN conflating degrees with education My point is that a good secondary school education is enough to live a successful life at the highest level and most of the outstanding businessmen in history did not go to university You claim majority of Nigerians travelling out do so through education route
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE ARE YOUR FACTS?FIGURES WHAT DOES THAT PROVE?
Not just Dangote but many other Nigerian businessmen of note never went to university. Innoson, Dantata, Igbinedion Fashion designers, mechanics, doctors, lawyers, business men/ women, cobblers et al are all vast and well enlightened in their chosen field. Mentioning Dangote this and that who never attended college and become wealthy is just funny to me. Why then do we have poor people within us who had just school cert or even nothing and went ahead to learn a trade, skill or whataview? Your comparism is baseless because the opportunity those people you are flaunting their names here and there had till thy kingdom come majority don't have it presently and they are most likely not going to have it. That's the reality There are hundred of thousands of eductionist in Nigeria who had written their names in gold and made history. Mind you, they don't neccesarily have to be amongst the top 100 billionaires. They are much successful in their chosen career. Thus, that had paved way for their generation You always sound so ridiculous young man. You're asking me to give you fact to buttress my point with regards the easiest route Nigerians had been plying leaving the shores of the country? I presume Google is your friend right? You can also get the right response on this platform Or better still, bring forth a young guy who had just school cert and venture into business. Then let me bring forth another young guy who had his first degree and wanted to leave the shores of the country Let both of them meet at the embassy and watch whose request would be granted first If you must make comparism man, let it be on a neutral ground. Make comparism with those average Nigerians living with us. Those who had degree and those who had just a school cert and learnt a skill or business are all living within us Lastly, stop the Dangote, Otedola and the likes that you are parabulating with at every sight. Like i said earlier, we do have successfully education laurels which i wouldn't want to bore you with by listing their names (local and international) |

effort1: 1. You don't have to be a doctor, lawyer, pilot or pharmacist before you can make an impact on the lives of people around you and be successful in life.
2. This is the information age, where you can learn virtually anything at home. Even if they don't give you certificate, you will have the same knowledge like the so-called professionals. This is ridiculous man. Instead of you to put it that not everyone will be a doctor, pharmacist, pilots or lawyers et al. There are professions that still demands attending the 4 walls of class room man. Even the so called saner climes that you guys always used as a case study to downplay your own country ain't exception. They had conventional schools that people from all walks of life come to acquire knowledge Instead of you to put it in another way that, there are courses that can be self taught online and needs to be abolished in our curriculum Please know how best to address issues Btw, not everyone will become a doctor or lawyer. 0m0nnakoda: Here is the problem you have ; You do not know and you do not know that you do not know. That is a profound misfortune Not only is there knowledge in law medicine tailoring etc. There is also knowledge of knowledge; The ultimate knowledge which is finding and employing people who know what knowledge is useful for achieving your goals and getting them to work for you That is what Henry Ford Did also go and read about Andrew Carnegie, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Richard Branson, Michael Dell, Steve Jobs
Where does Dangote live? What degree does he have? In your worldview if you are in Festac with a degree you are better than Dangote
The scope of what a person can know is limitless If you are a lawyer you are probably still not a pilot or a doctor or an engineer. Those things are just training or skill acquisition no different from carpentry, tailoring etc This is where you failed woefully Not everyone will become employers of labour or entrepreneurs. If everyone does, then there won't be Dangote, Mark zukaberg, Bill gate today You sound so ridiculous guy, you're comparing me to Dangote? If you must make comparism young man, don't be biased or sentimental about it. Compare me with a normal average Nigerians who doesn't have a formal education beyond school cert but went ahead to venture into business or whataview Op is a business man still growing i guess. While the lady in question is a graduate earning little or nothing. I hpe you know majority of Nigerians who are travelling out of the shores of the country today does that through education routes? They could give birth to citizens of US, UK, Canadian et al. From there their next generation become citizens of those countries. That is the power of education That lady in question can get to that level with the little education she had. The Op can't because he had just a school cert and already downplay having any formal education. He can only achieve that if he's probably rich then his money works for him. Can you ask yourself this question, how many rich men/women do we have amongst over 210million Nigerians? |

When you become a successful bachelor, please don't compromise your marriage. Make sure you visit the location where higher classes reside, then propose to any family there. You are only successful as a young bachelor, you aren't from a rich or well to do family The difference is more than clear there Rich families gives their daughter hand in marriage to rich families like theirs not someone who is from a poor or an average home who struggled to break through (indivusually) You'll most likely settle for a girl from a poor or an average home who also had something doing, though may not be as equal as yours |

0m0nnakoda: You conflate a degree with education They are not the same thing
You talk about marrying "your level" . This is a concept that makes sense perhaps in your mind. What poxy level are you talking about.
The most important level in Nigeria is the neighbourhood where you grow up. That is what determines who you know and how doors open for you If you went to King's College in the 70s or 80s you were better positioned whether or not you had a degree, to go far in life . There are a few other secondary schools with that level of elitist privilege and exposure. Fact!! That is where you learn to mix with elites not by getting useless degrees If you grow up in Ikoyi degree or no degree you are automatically on a different level from those who grow up in Ajegunle. At the verge of seeking for knowledge (formal or informal) you got certified I.e lawyer, doctor, mechanic, streamstress et al. Such kinda person can best be addressed as " he's well educated in law" he's well enlightened in automechanic or whataview. The kings college you used as a case study got a school cert at the end of their 6 years mentorship which can be term as education How many Nigerians had the opportunity to live in an eyebrowed estate in ikoyi, lekki, banana island, VGC et al? Very few fraction of them If you reside in lekki with just a school cert and i base on the mainland, Festac or isolo for instance. Got my degree in any of the first generation schools in Nigeria with a first class or even a strong 2.1 and well vast in my chosen field. Trust me we ain't on the same level (intellect per say) No matter how rich you are, if you don't have power then you ain't complete yet Atiku, Tinubu and the likes are all running to become the president. Not mainly because of the money but power, the affluence, the prestige, the name et al. |

There are too many opinionated ignoramuses around Holding very strong and ignorant opinions Some people will come here to tell us that a person who went to university to study medicine is "educated", a very unfortunate illusion The Op is not illiterate but they ain't on the same page in terms of formal education Marrying your level is very key in this life trust me. If not for anything, at least for peace of mind I'm very sure there are girls that would be admiring the Op around. He's probably not giving them attention mainly because they aren't educated Some Men are like that, once they had very little or no education. They'd want to marry an educated lady Let him give those girls chance and go for anyone of them since he already said there's no crime for a school cert holder to marry a graduate Then it would be an honour, if he go for any of those girls with either no formal education or had same school cert |

MALIGNANTGuest: You talk as if you are the LAW. MEN have married in the past and recently and still slept with other women. In Fact some men who indulged in such did all manner of weddingwedding ab initio. I live in a country where the LAW tends to favour women more, and I have never seen any rule that says a man should be hanged nor jailed for extramarital affairs neither the woman. The WORST that happens is separation, divorce and property disbursement. I watch divorce court proceedings here. I have had to attend some. No COURT jails a man nor woman for such. Married people are ADULTS. They can walk out anytime. Better wake up. In Fact, a man can be jailed in the US for failing as a Father but not for Infidelity. I never said the man or woman would be killed for infidels. It definitely leads to divorce at the advantage of the victim to an ectend My point is, legal marriage has helped women a whole lot in Nigeria and it's also helped some men to some extent. For instance a man can hide and cheat on his wife without the woman knowing. Some Men would as a matter of fact tell the girfriend not to ever imagined of marriage because his marriage with his wife is binding by the law. That certificate issue at the law court does helped check mate some men. Why? Because they know the penalty and outcome of their attrocity A man who does just a traditional marriage has nothingto lose or whataview. Men who will not cheat or marry more than one wife will definitely not engage in such no matter the nature of marriage he had |

These DNA fraud cases should tell you things are not as they appear Yes, if it's the other way round you have every right to file for divorce as well I just don't condole infidels or abuse whatsoever from both parties Yes, a woman who bring forth another man's child to her husband deserves more than divorce. Likewise a man who sees a woman as a second fiddle, an option or perhaps his properties that he can toss around deserves same |

MALIGNANTGuest: PLEASE can you explain to me how MEN like me will be dealt with by the Law Court when I decide not to continue with my marriage?
Even in the Advanced world, MARRIAGE is not by compulsion. People get married in the morning and part ways in the evening. So, I don't know where you Guys get this baseless cohesion theories from. Worst scenario, properties are shared equally. But nothing stops you from saying you are TIRED of getting married to your spouse. TRUMP is a recent example. MICHAEL JACKSON also is. In Africa, we rather top up the number of wives than divorce them and nothing stops the woman from walking out either.
IF my wife decides to leave me tomorrow, why should I kill her. I can only reexamine myself to suit her, else she walks out unhindered. MARRIAGE is not a warfare. Marry a legal wife and still go ahead to sleep around or marry another one. You will come back here to give us the full gist how it unfolds You can only ressolve your first marriage before proceeding with another. This is the responsibility and law guiding court marriage Unlike traditional marriage where some men had abused beyond repair |
