I then called Gtb and the customer care rep was like I should be careful as it might be a scam as CBN has not given any modalities to BVN registration for customers in the Diaspora and that no one is to pay to register for BVN.

Update: Just spoke with a customer care rep of First Bank who says info is authentic, will try and carry out my registration asap.

Yeah, I got a mail from first bank. I believe you only need to register in one bank, then link the number to other accounts. I might be mistaken though

Getting a sponsor in the U.K is quite hard, more or less seeking for a job from a different country!!

That's the only problem. Hopefully, that part would be scraped.
Whether you apply for Tier 2 visa in the Uk or Nigeria still depends on you getting the job first. If she doesn't get a job before her visa expires, then it still doesn't matter.

If she gets a job and collects her sponsorship letter, she would travel back home and apply. It's just that simple

Things are getting bad and to deceive somebody to something that might get even worst is worth re-considering.

With the way things are going, we dont expect the immigration situation of foreign student to improve tremendously in four years.

She is better of requesting for a refund from her school and going somewhere else (where ever that is except UK - though i prefer Canada).

Many self sponsor students in my school wished each day, they had chosen other more friendly destinations.

As for settling because her family is in UK, I think this is the aspect you can concentrate on motivating her that she can survive else if others have been surviving (besides she has her money and isnt going there to survive by hustling - i guess).

My one cent. Prevention is better than Cure.

Why should she request for a refund? What is she preventing?

What if she doesn't want to work part time in the UK? Is there any other thing that would affect her?

I have a cousin who also happens to be a Nairalander, i am bringing this here for her to get other opinions and stop disturbing me
She'd soon be making her U.K student Visa application and then this news of foreign students leaving the country after studies dropped, she has been on the phone with me all evening crying cause she said she really wanted to stay back and work. i already told her to worry less cause by the time she has completed her four years in the U.K something else must have come up, i know i am very bad at motivating someone, LOL. She really can't go to any other country now cause
1)She has family in U.K and this might help settle her in fully well..

2)She already paid half of the tuition fees, everything for her Visa application is ready.


I just need you guys to say something positive to her, let her see the light at the end of that tunnel. I know some peeps are also in her shoes, so i guess whatever you guys tell her will also calm some spirits down..

The only current adverse effect this rule will have on her is that she won't be able to work part time legally. If she has full support from family, then that wouldn't be a problem.
For staying back after school, it is still the same thing. Except you'll have to apply in your home country for Tier 2. Normally, when you get a job with sponsorship, you apply in the Uk. If this is implemented, she just have to come back and apply from Nigeria. I see no way that would be a problem for her

If your brother is studying a Science/Engineering course, he is most likely a teaching assistant or a lab demonstrator.

Normally, after a studying for a PhD in a STEM course, most people go on to complete a post-doctoral program, engaging in active research, usually for a period of 2years. As a researcher, no one will take you very seriously if you haven't undergone a post-doc. Even UK students (who do not have any immigration issues, btw) do this, so if you have studied a science/engineering course, it is in your best interest to start searching for Post-doc positions.

That said, I cannot make any conclusive comments about social sciences courses, humanities or the arts.

What is wrong with cbn? So people can't make international transactions with ease again.

its avery tricky situation was there any signed , or verbal agreement to that effect, if there was , do you have any witnesses, to be honest even though it may hurt , you don't have right over the domain(except there was an aggrement) ,because he bought it in his name ,number two you can't buy the domain afresh , except he gives u the the details of the domain for you to transfer it to another host, here is my advice if you need that domain badly try to sort things out amicably, if the domain is worth a lot (probably millions) you could sue him(if he doesn't like things done amicably) , but if the domain is not that important and you can forgo , if that's the case just let it go ,loook for a good and available domain name and strart afresh

What are you talking about? Domain ownership is always that of the client.

@op just ask him to transfer the domain to you. It's as simple as that

I personally don't see it as a problem as full names can be represented in any order. But if she wants, to remove all doubt, she can get an affidavit. It won't cost her much

If it's so then that is quite unnecessary. Just do a regular post/get to php and return Json from php to Ajax

No it won't, you're still tier 4 general.

I suppose that won't be as far as there is no indication of which is a first name and last name.

UK education provider is the UK university, college etc,u will be studying at basically should be a wholly registered UK university, while overseas higher education institution also is a UK university, college, etc but is not wholly a UK institution example is if there is a university of lagos london campus then it's regarded as overseas higher education provider. Hello! Is anyone here applying with dependants right away? Someone advised I apply for myself first but decided to just do it together. Justwise or anyone do you know if there any advantages if the main applicant applys first? Also my University seems to be quite unpopular amongst Nigerians..University of Exeter.. maybe cus it's in a small town. Also had admission to Birmingham but sadly had to turn it down as the course content ( modules ) were a complete deviation of what I wanted.
