The Pre-Adamite World and the Ancient Origin of Satan, a.k.a. Lucifer

The Ancient World

"And the earth was ..." (Genesis 1:2)

As stated previously at the start of this study, at Genesis 1:2 the reader is confronted with the first mystery of the Holy Scriptures; a mystery which, when fully understood, reveals why the ancient geologic fossil record is fairly accurate and why the account of the literal seven 24-hour days of Genesis one is a regeneration of the heaven and the Earth and not the original creation. Let's quickly review the specifics:

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
(Genesis 1:2 KJV)

"For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men."
(2 Pet 3:5-7 KJV)

In Genesis 1:2 the Earth is said to be a lifeless and uninhabited planet, drifting in the cold and darkness of the chaotic remains of the old universe. The planet is submerged in water, and waters also rage around it and across a ruined universal abyssal. As you study the root word definitions and the English translation of the KJV Bible, a picture emerges of a former world that once existed on the Earth, but now is totally destroyed and dead. Taking the words of the Bible at face value and reading the verses objectively, several facts become clear:

1) The context and time placement of Genesis 1:2 is one verse BEFORE God says, "Let there be light" (Genesis 1:3), where He begins the creative process of the famous seven days.

2) Before God says, "let there be light" (Genesis 1:3) there are already things present that must have been previously created. Specifically, there is water composed of hydrogen and oxygen, there is the Earth composed of myriads of elements and compounds and in a solid form recognizable as a planet which has already been assigned a proper name.

3) Third, and very important, there is something else already present at this time: DARKNESS! And it's not just physical darkness (an absence of light) but also spiritual darkness (the absence of holiness and harmony).

When all these facts are taken into account, the following inescapable truths stand out:

a) The planet Earth and a ruined universe were already in existence before the creative process of Genesis 1:3 through 1:31 even begins. Earth had already existed for an unspecified period of historical time.

b) The physics of time, space, and matter are already established, which by extension means that the processes which regulate radioactive decay (the half-life principle) are also functioning and valid.

c) At some undetermined time in history past, Death and the powers of darkness first came into being, and this happened before the seven days and before the creation of the man, Adam.

In essence, what the Scriptures are collectively saying is this:

Long ago, in very distant times past, the Lord God first created the heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1). But when the heaven and Earth are spoken of in Genesis 1:2, it is in a ruined and lifeless state. There is a vast gap in historical time between those two verses of the Bible; a gap on the order of possibly a few billion years. In Genesis 1:1 we have a glorious heaven and Earth, but in 1:2 we see a decimated heaven and Earth. The bulk of the geologic column fits in-between verses 1:1 and 1:2, and the geologic time marker at Genesis 1:2 is at the very end of the Pleistocene. The end of the Pleistocene (about 13,000 to 10,000 years ago) shows evidence of a global extinction event and a severe drop in global temperatures. We will elaborate further in following chapters.

So what exactly happened during this great gap of time between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2, and why? Why was Death already in existence before the seven days and before Adam sinned? For clues to that answer we must look to the writings of the prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel. There, in the prophetic Scriptures, the Holy Ghost spoke through these men concerning the ancient origin of Satan, which is the key doctrine to unlocking this great mystery.

What the Spirit of Truth Reveals in the Words of Truth

In the passages below the prophets are speaking against the "king of Babylon" (Isaiah 14:4) and the "prince of Tyrus" (Ezekiel 28:2) who were renown mortal men of history. Prophetically, the Spirit is also addressing a man yet to come, the antichrist (see 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10). However, it is clearly evident from the content that the Holy Ghost is also speaking here against a spirit being; an ancient, unholy, and malevolent spirit that motivated the evil deeds of these historical and mortal men:

"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, [and] consider thee, [saying, Is] this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;"
(Isaiah 14:12-16 KJV)

"Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."
(Ezekiel 28:13-17 KJV)

The words highlighted in red speak of things that could not possibly be attributed to the actual acts of any human king or prince. No man in history has ever "walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire" or "fallen from heaven."

The name "Lucifer" means "light bearer" or "brightness" in the Hebrew sense of the word. This creature was the first steward over the Kingdom of Heaven in the day when the Lord God created the heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1). It is important to understand that the "Kingdom of Heaven" is not something that just begins with the Gospels of the New Testament. The saga for the control and Kingship of the "Kingdom of Heaven" is the Bible's core theme, from Genesis through Revelation. The geography of this Kingdom is from the surface of the Earth below and up to all things within the bounds of the firmament of heaven. The topic of the Kingdom will be discussed more in depth in a later chapter.

The start of this Kingdom begins back in ancient times when the Lord God first created the heaven and the Earth, as we are instructed in the book of Job:

"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?"
(Job 38:4-7 KJV)

At the ancient time of the original creation there was spiritual harmony and continuity throughout the newly created physical world of the Kingdom of Heaven. Physical matter and spirit were one under the stewardship of Lucifer, this anointed cherub. Being "anointed" indicates he held an office similar to the anointed High Priests of Israel. The mention of Lucifer's covering in an array of nine (9) precious stones and gold is further suggestive of that comparison. These are not the exact same twelve (12) stones that the High Priest of Israel wore on his Breastplate, but the similarities of such a covering signify that Lucifer was a priestly ruler over the old world of those ancient times. He was second only to the Lord God in power and authority over the realm of the whole Kingdom. Lucifer was a created being, created by God to serve Him as ruler of the Kingdom and leader of worship to the Lord. But he was not satisfied with his glorious appointed station over all things in the Kingdom and eventually desired to be as God himself: "I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

Lucifer rebelled and transgressed against the Lord God and became the first created being to sin. Lucifer sinned a long, long time ago before Adam or his world was even created. The earliest (thus first) documented sin (and documented in the Holy Scriptures we should add) occurred countless eons ago. It certainly happened sometime before the Cambrian geologic period (about 500 -600 million years ago), because that is where we see an explosion of well-developed life forms in the fossil record. Things that are alive don't leave remains UNTIL they DIE. The Cambrian Explosion marks where multiple very complex life forms first began to appear and die in the Earth's fossil record of geologic natural history.

But the sudden appearance of the remains of extremely complex life forms does not mean ancient life forms (and death) were only as old as the Cambrian times. There is evidence of less complex, multi-cellular life from over two billion years ago, long before the Cambrian. And those newly discovered creatures are a totally different breed from what is found in the Cambrian fossils. And their metabolic system was certainly different, as well. If they lived over two billion years ago, it was before the Great Oxygenation Event at a time when sulfur reducers were at work on the early Earth.

The mystery of ancient life (and death) is further veiled by another geologic mystery called the "Great Unconformity" which is found globally. Essentially, it reveals that millions of years of Earth's geologic record went missing before onset of the Cambrian. One place on Earth where the Great Unconformity can be observed is within the Grand Canyon in the United States.

If you look at the different ages of the rock layers, both below and above the line of the Great Unconformity, you will note that the hiatus of deposition spans millions of years. It is like the surface of the Earth had been scoured flat and new depositions did not resume until much, much later in geologic time. Clearly, whatever caused this global event was unprecedented and remains a scientific mystery.

There is also geologic evidence that suggests the Earth was frozen over completely at the end of the Precambrian, as well. Since the 1960s, scientists have hypothesized that the Earth was subjected to severe glacial action between about 750 million and 580 million years ago. This is called the Snowball Earth hypothesis and it has been proposed to explain a number of observations in the geological record and was so severe that the Earth's oceans completely froze over at that time.

So, how are these events directly connected to the Cambrian Explosion? Some scientists today are postulating that the Great Unconformity was somehow the geologic trigger for the Cambrian explosion. Is it a coincidence that following the Snowball Earth the continents began to break apart? At that time in Earth's history the world's continental landmass was locked together in the configuration of a supercontinent called "Rodinia" that was clustered near the Earth's equator. This sequence of events: Millions of years of missing geologic record, a super Ice Age, the Cambrian Explosion of well-developed life and the breakup of Rodinia all point to the same vector in geologic deep-time. The events of that ancient vector, and the changes they wrought upon the ancient Earth, may have been a domino effect that was precipitated by Lucifer's rebellion and God's wrath upon Lucifer's earthly domain. This does not necessarily mean that Lucifer fell at this specific point in ancient time. That point in deep-time could have been even earlier - back as far as 4.5 billion years ago, or more. We can not determine this for sure from the existing geologic record.

There are no known geologic formations on the Earth that predate 4.5 billion years. The oldest confirmed mineral sample found, so far, is a zircon crystal that dates to 4.38 billion years. And, as mentioned on our page concerning the Ancient Earth, that crystal was formed in water.

Allow me to digress for a minute and inject some parenthetical thoughts for your consideration. Make note of the association of Lucifer with the "stones of fire," and keep in mind that "fire" can be a physical and/or spiritual component:

"And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
(2 Kings 6:17 KJV)

"And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed."
(Exodus 3:2 KJV)

"And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and [there were] seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God."
(Revelation 4:5 KJV)

"For our God [is] a consuming fire."
(Hebrews 12:29 KJV)

The Earth was certainly a very different of kind world back in the days when God first created it. It may have had water and vegetation on the surface in the days when the "sons of God" inhabitated the Earth.

In the Hebrew language concordance, the word for the stones spoken of as the "stones of fire" is eben eh'-ben, which suggests that these stones were more akin to building blocks or masonry than to natural rocks or burning volcanic brimstone. I believe this is significant, as it may be telling us that this covering cherub, Lucifer, was in the setting of some sort of spiritual structure of fire. Could this have been a "Temple of fire" on the ancient Earth? This Lucifer also had a covering of diverse gemstones similar to the breastplate of gemstones worn by the High Priests of the tabernacle and the temple in Old Testament times. Are these similarities a coincidence?

Regardless, with his initial act of sin and rebellion, Death and corruption was introduced into the physical cosmos. It could be at this point in deep-time that Entropy began. It started in Eden, the "Garden of God" on the Earth, and spread like a cancer. Because Lucifer was the steward of the whole creation under heaven when he fell, all things under his rule were also subjected to the corruption. His act of rebellion could have unleashed the wrath of God on the entire solar system. There is evidence of a great bombardment of the Earth in the Hadean period that could have destroyed the surface of the Earth, erasing what terrestrial flora and fauna that may have been present in that early pristine world.

The "sons of God" and the "morning stars" (Job 38:4-7) would abandon their earthly habitation. If there were other forms of life on the planet's surface they would have perished and the Earth would have become uninhabitle. In the aftermath of the destruction, those lifeforms that eventually arose would have the sentence of death upon them. Their fossilized remains are the testimony, written in stone, of life's struggle under that sentence across the geologic ages afterwards.

Scientists use the term Evolution to describe the observed progress of life forms on this planet as revealed in the fossil record. Darwin called it the survival of the fittest, and it does appear that more and more complex organisms took their place on the stage of history, but they did so by killing and adapting to the struggle against death. The dinosaurs came and went. All things died, and those creatures that came after them also died. So it continued across millenniums of historical time until the spirit of death overtook all things, including the stars across the universe. A few million years ago coldness and darkness began to increase. It was the onset of what we call the beginning of the last Ice Age, and it is the universe's eventual cold, dark, and completely dead condition that the Spirit describes in the words of the time period of Genesis 1:2.

Instead of running away from the potential fire disaster of a petroleum truck that had spilled its contents (on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway) these Nigerians decided to risk their lives to fetch dripping fuel from the truck. He cites the deeds of Patriarch Abraham, the work from which appeared the faith of a righteous man: this work consisted of offering as a sacrifice to God his only begotten son. To offer one’s son as a sacrifice– this is totally not a virtue according to human nature: it is a virtue as the fulfilment of the command of God, as a work of faith. Take a good look at the New Testament and in general all of Holy Scripture: you will find that it demands fulfilment of the commandments of God, that this fulfilment is called works, that from this fulfilment of God’s commandments faith in God comes to life, as functioning; without works faith is dead, lacking any movement. And contrary to this, you will find that virtuous works of the fallen state, done out of feeling, blood, impulses or tenderheartedness– are prohibited, repudiated! And namely for these virtues you like… the Muslims! To them, though it were repudiation of Christ, you want to give salvation.

For he says the Word of God and the Spirit went into Mary and she bore Jesus who was a prophet and servant of God. And that the Jews, acting against the law, wanted to crucify him and having seized (him), they crucified his shadow. And he says this, that when Christ went up into the heavens, God questioned him, saying, “O Jesus, did you say that „I am the Son of God and God‟?” And Jesus, they say, answered, “Have mercy on me, O Lord; you know that I did not say (that), nor am I too proud to be your servant, but men who have turned aside wrote that I said this word and lied about me, and are wandering.” And God, they say, answered him, “I know that you did not say this word.” And many other astonishing sayings in this same writing, worthy of laughter, he boasts God sent down to him. But we say, “And who is the witness that God gave the writing to him, or which of the prophets foretold that such a prophet would arise?” And they are at a loss, as Moses received on Mount Sinai, in the sight of all the people, the Law of God who appeared in cloud and fire and darkness and storm. And that all the prophets, from Moses and onward, foretold the coming of Christ, and that Christ is God, and the Son of God, being flesh, will come, and will be crucified, and will die, and will rise again, and he will be the judge of the living and the dead. And we say, “Why did your prophet not come in this way, with others witnessing about him, nor coming among you as God gave the Law to Moses on a smoking mountain with all the people watching, and, as you claim, provide this book, so you also might have certainty?” They answer that God does as he wills. We know this too, we say. But, we ask, how did the writing come down to your prophet? And they answer that while he was asleep the writing came upon him. And we jokingly say to them that since he received the writing while sleeping, and did not sense the activity, in him is fulfilled the popular proverb (“You are spinning me dreams”).

Again we ask, “Why, when he commanded us in your writing not to do or to receive anything without witnesses, did you not ask him that „First you show through witnesses whether you are a prophet, and that you came from God, and which Scripture witnesses about you?‟” They are silent, ashamed. To whom we say, “For good reason! Since it is not allowed for you to marry a woman without witnesses, nor to buy, nor acquire property (?), nor do you allow yourselves to have a donkey or an animal unwitnessed. For you indeed also have wives, and properties, and donkeys, and all the rest through witnesses, and you have only a faith and a writing unwitnessed. For he who handed this down to you has in no way an assurance, nor is any previous witness of him known, but he received this also while sleeping.” [A worthwhile refutation of the Divine origin of Muhammad’s revelations! It is laughable and worse than that, immoral and without any heavenly character as evidenced by the behaviour cited here].

And they call us Associators, because, they say, we introduce an associate to God by saying Christ is the Son of God and God. To whom we say that this is what the Prophets and Scripture have handed down. And you, as you insist, accept the Prophets. If, therefore, we are wrong saying Christ is the Son of God, they also are who taught and handed it down to us. And some of them indeed say that we have allegorized the Prophets, imputing (sayings) to them. Others say that the Hebrews, hating (us), have deceived us, having written as from the Prophets, so that we might be destroyed.

And again we say to them, “You say that Christ is the Word of God and the Spirit. How then do you rebuke us as „Associators‟? For the Word and the Spirit are each of them unseparated from Him in Whom they have been born. If, therefore, in God is His Word, it is obvious he is also God. But if he is outside of God, as according to you, God is irrational (αλογος) and lifeless (απνοσς). Therefore, in avoiding to associate with God, you have mutilated him. But it would be better for you to say that he has an associate than to mutilate him, and represent him like a stone, or wood, or any of those insensible things. Thus, indeed, falsely accusing us, you call us „Associators.‟ But we call you „Mutilators of God.‟” [Muslims are refuted as being Mutilators of God due to their inconsistency regarding Christ’s titles in the Qu’ran. Thus the Blessed Father has defended the Trinity well along with the Deity of our Lord using their own sources!]

They also accuse us as idolaters for reverencing the Cross, which they despise. And we say to them, “Why, therefore, do you rub yourselves against the stone by your Khabathan, and love kissing the stone?” And some of them say Abraham had relations with Hagar upon it, and others that he tied up the camel around it when about to sacrifice Isaac. And we respond to them, “The Scripture says that there was a mountain like a grove, and wood from which also Abraham cut for the whole burnt offering on which he laid Isaac, and that he left the donkeys with the servants. Therefore, from what source is your foolish saying? For there is no wood of a forest lying in that place, nor travelling by donkeys.” They are indeed ashamed. Nevertheless, they say the stone is of Abraham. Then we say, “If it is of Abraham, as you foolishly say, therefore are you not ashamed, kissing this thing only because Abraham had relations with a woman upon it, or that he tied up a camel? But you censure us because we show reverence to the Cross of Christ through which the strength of the demons and the deceit of the Accuser is destroyed?” And this thing which they say is a stone is the head of Aphrodite which they reverenced, who they also called Khabar, upon which also even up to now the shadow of an inscription appears to careful observers. [A good refutation of the accusations of idolatry laid against Christians and proof that the reverencing of the Ka’aba by Muslims is more guilty of idolatry and superstition beyond belief compared to the reverence given to the Cross].

As we have said, this Mamed composed many foolish sayings, and he laid upon each of them a title, like the writing “The Women,” in which also he plainly legislates (for a man) to take four wives and one thousand concubines if he is able, however many he might put under his hand, aside from the four wives. And he legislated to divorce whichever one he wishes, or if he wishes, also to take care of another, for this very reason: Mamed had a companion named Zeïd. This one had a beautiful wife, whom Mamed loved. Therefore, when they were sitting together, Mamed said, “Oh, by the way, God has ordered me to take your wife.” And he answered, “You are the Apostle; do as God has said to you. Take my wife.” Or rather, so we might tell it from the beginning, he said to him, “God has ordered me, that you divorce your wife” And he divorced. And after several days, he says, “But God has ordered that I will also take her.” Then he took (her) and committed adultery with her (and) made this law: “He who wills may divorce his wife, but if after divorcing, he would return to her, another must marry her; for it is not allowed to take (her back) if she has not been married by another. And even if a brother divorces, let his brother marry her, if he is willing.” And in the same writing, he transmits this message: “Plough the land which God has given to you, and beautify it” and do this, and in this way—so I might not say all the obscene things as he did. [Proof from the Qu’ran and Hadiths of the inconsistent and amoral behaviour of the so-called “Prophet” Muhammad].

Again, there is the writing of the Camel of God, about which he says that there was a camel from God, and she drank a whole river, and she could not pass between two mountains through which she could not fit. Therefore, he says, a people was in that place, and indeed on one day they would drink the water and the camel on the next. And while drinking the water, she maintained (?) them by providing milk instead of water. Therefore those men, being wicked, rose up, he says, and killed the camel. But there was a small camel of her offspring which, he says, when the mother had been done away with, cried out to God, and He took her to Himself. To them we say, “From where was that camel?” And they say that it was from God. And we say, “Did any other couple with this camel?” And they say, “No.” We say, “Therefore how did she give birth? For we see you camel is without father, without mother, without genealogy. And having given birth, she suffered evil. But neither does the coupler appear, and the little camel was taken up. Therefore, why did not your prophet, to whom, as you say, God has spoken, learn about the camel: where she pastures, and if any drank milk (?) by milking this one? Or was she not at some time, like her mother having met evil men, destroyed? Or did she enter into Paradise, your forerunner, from whom is your river which you foolishly say is of milk? For you say three rivers are to flow for you in Paradise: of water, wine, and milk. If your forerunner camel is outside of Paradise, it is obvious that she has dried up from hunger and thirst, or that others are enjoying her milk. And your prophet is boasting foolishly as having spoken with God, for the mystery of the camel was not revealed to him. And if she is in Paradise, she again drinks the water, and waterless, you will dry up in the midst of the delights of Paradise. But if you desire wine from the river flowing by, since there is no flowing water, for the camel drank it all, you will be inflamed (?) drinking unmixed wine, and collapse (?) in drunkenness, and fall asleep. And also, being heavy-headed after sleep, and having a headache from the wine, you will forget the pleasures of Paradise. Therefore, why did your prophet not think of these things that might happen to you in the Paradise of delights? Nor did he consider about the camel, where she now lives. But neither did you ask him, as the dream-teller was telling you about the three rivers. But we tell you definitely, your wonderful camel has run ahead of you into the souls of donkeys, where you are soon to live like animals. And in that place is the outer darkness, and endless punishment, the roaring fire, the unsleeping worm, and demons of Tartarus. [Warning of damnation upon Muslims should they continue to follow such vain superstition instead of turning to Christ our God].

Mamed speaks again (in) the writing of The Table. And he says that Christ asked God for a table, and he gave it to him. For God, he says, said to him that “I have given to you and to yours an incorruptible table.”

Again, the writing of The Cow, and some other foolish sayings worthy of laughter, I think I should skip because of their number. He legislated that they be circumcised, including the women, and also commanded not to keep the Sabbath, nor to be baptized, and to eat some of the things forbidden in the Law, and to avoid (some of) those it permitted. And he entirely forbade the drinking of wine.
