Crime / 7/7 – How I Almost Died During The Ojota Cults Clash Today! by Spontaneous007: 8:08pm On Jul 07, 2021
Good evening my fellow nairalanders,

I hope you guys are safe and sound wherever you are?
Please let's continue to be watchful.

Today, I saw death with my naked eyes.

It all started around some minutes after 4 when we heard gunshots fired into the air. I was at work at that moment and we had to stop everything we were doing and move out immediately. Though before today, we were warned that there will be cults clash in Ojota on the 7th of July because that day was known to be the aiye confraternity day.

My boss volunteered to take us home in his car and drop us at the nearest stop to our house. On our way, the atmosphere was tensed and everyone was running helter skelter. We could hear sporadic shootings Faraway. When my boss dropped us at our nearest bustop, I amd my colleague took a bike going to our street. On our way down the street, a police bus hit our bike so hard that we fell to theground. They shot at us but we had gotten to the ground before the bullets could get to us. My colleague was badly injured but I wasn't. Though I was the must vulnerable because I was sitting behind him.

They pursued us thinking we were cult members. Omo come and see race ... I never know I could run so fast. I threw away my phone and bag... I later went back to carry it after they left. Thank God for life.

Literature / Old Soldier Never Die! (short Story) by Spontaneous007: 2:24pm On Jun 07, 2021
OLD SOLDIER NEVER DIE!

House 12, Aramoru close was Old soldier's Two-storey ediface. The last house on the close where we lived ever since I was an embryo.

'Old soilder', as popularly called by most people on the street was a former military officer in the Biafran army during the civil war in 1967

With the way he was without scars or lifelong injury, it was seemingly hard to believe Old soldier fought in the Nigerian-Biafran war, killing over 35 adversaries as he claimed.

Even at 84, he was still walking erect with his sturdy and well proportioned body.

He was an old but frisky, funny man who made all the little children his playmates, the youth his peers and the elders his talking buddies.

Everyone loved being around him not only because he was a good story teller but because he seemed to know the history of Nigeria and all her leaders better than a well-rounded book of Nigeria's current and past affairs.

He once told us a story of how he and his unit of soldiers ran out of ammunition in the middle of a hellish gun battle. He said in a loud, husky voice;

" I thought it was the end. Like in a trans, I began seeing angels from the realm of their majestic glory calling me home. It was a magical sight to behold. At that moment, the enemies knew what had happened. They knew they had to fully unleash their possible attacking strategy because we were very much defenseless. they began ploughing forward, keen on bringing my men down. The Lieutenant asked for an order but I didn't give any because I was lost in a spiritual realm, with harmonious classical music being ministered to me by multitudinous angels.

My men had no other option but to retreat and run for their dear lives. I was left to die. They thought I had died. Then in a short while, I came back to reality. I didn't want to die yet, even if the angels song was one thing I would want to hear for the rest of my life. I still wish to drink from the stream that flows on sediments of the earth. I still want to live no matter what. Hastily, I looked round for an escape route and I found a heap of hay and hid myself beneath. Today, the rest is history!."

Everyone applauded the octogenarian. His stories were insightful they thought.

Everything was going on well with everyone and Old soldier until something tragic happened.

Like rubbing olive oil on the two palms, things became slippery and started getting out of hand when it was observed that old soldier was gradually becoming the shadow of his former self.

Old soldier wasn't the muscled, physically fit old man we used to know. His head was looking oddly shaped, apparently bigger than his scrawny, skinny and pallid bag of bones called skin.

Old soldier no longer came out to tell stories like he always do, neither did he relate with people the way he formerly did. He was indoor all day, all night.

Days turned weeks, weeks matured into months and still, nothing was heard of old soldier.
Everyone cared to go check up on him but no one dared to. They never know what could await them on their quest in finding out what went wrong with him.

His house wasn't as extraneously tidy as it used to be. The flowers were now overgrown. The windows looked dusty like it had never been cleaned for over hundred years. The appearance alone was scary– could possibly be compared to an abandoned house that was occasionally hunted by ghosts.

It was the wispy light of a burning candle that could be seen through one of the dusty windows that gave people the conviction that someone was still living in that house.

Many claimed they heard loud cries from the direction were the building was positioned. Few said they once saw a figure standing in front of the window laughing hysterically at God knows what. Nobody could phantom what was really going on at house 12. Still, no one dared to Move an inch closer to the rusty gate of the building.

One evening, after much deliberations were made during an impromptu gathering of few elders of Aramoru, seven hefty looking young men were appointed to go into old soldier's house of darkness so as to put the residents of Aramoru in light. They were to report to the elders and all other residents what they saw after their journey back from the last house on the street of Aramoru.
On entering the gate, they had only walked few steps when they began hearing alternating cries of new born babies and neurotic laughters of what seemed to sound like that of young maidens.

Fretfully, the young men walked up the stairs to the room where a burning candlestick was seen. All standing in front of the door, they heard a voice soliloquizing inside the room saying;

"The cries and laughter
of the unresting souls you heard,
were the ones I battered
during the days of sorrow and fear,
their skulls I scattered
in shrines, for my life I spare."

On hearing this, one of the seven men broke into the room and met old soldier in a horrifically inexplicable state. smiling devilishy at them.
Without thinking twice, they all took to their heels, not looking back, terrified at what they saw.
They got to the square were everyone waited for a feedback; breathing heavily like rats who escaped a weird cat's claws of death. None of them could explain what he saw. All they could say was;

"Old soldier never die"
"He will always live.. for he has redeemed his soul with that of many"!

Very good. They should bring back Allegri.

Sarri is not a world class manager and shouldnt be at Juventus. His game plan cannot take Juventus to the UCL final even when other big clubs like Real and Barcelona aren't doing well. They ought to have been a better contender but for their poor performance occasioned by Sarri's poor management.

I just hope they don't bring in another under achiever like Gattuso though.

You're very correct!

Sarri is an average Coach

Juventus have relieved Maurizio Sarri of his position at the club following their Champions League exit at the hands of Lyon, with official confirmation expected to be released by the Bianconeri on Saturday.

Multiple sources all confirm Juventus have sacked Maurizio Sarri after just one year at the helm, despite winning their ninth consecutive Serie A title.

The decision was made in a crisis meeting this afternoon between President Andrea Agnelli, directors and the coach.

An announcement is expected imminently.

He won the first Italian trophy of his career, their ninth Serie A title in a row, but only one point ahead of Inter and with none of the attractive football that was expected.

His position was already shaky after losing the Italian Supercup to Lazio in December, then the Coppa Italia Final to Napoli in June.

Last night’s Champions League exit to Olympique Lyonnais proved the final straw, going out on away goals after a 1-0 first leg defeat and 2-1 second leg victory.

President Agnelli said he would take a few days to reflect and evaluate the situation, but it seems as if the decision was made very quickly indeed.

The 61-year-old leaves the Juve job after just 51 competitive matches, overseeing 34 victories, eight draws and nine defeats.

His team scored 100 goals and conceded 55, averaging 2.16 points per game.

Sarri spent most of his career in the amateur leagues, having joined the sport late in life after quitting his job in banking.

He shot to fame in Serie A with Empoli from 2012-15, then going on to impress with his style of Sarriball at Napoli from 2015-18, winning the Europa League trophy at Chelsea.

He had been under contract at Juventus until June 2022, but was dismissed just one season into his tenure.

They amassed 83 Serie A points this season, fewer than in any other campaigns during this nine-year winning streak, and conceded 43 goals in 38 rounds.

The Bianconeri scored 76, fewer than Atalanta, Inter, Lazio and even fifth-placed Roma.

If I tell you my own you no go believe....

Well

It all happened when I wanted to write my first semester exam (first year).
It was MEC102 (technical drawing)...

Even during normal lectures, i didn't have the slightest knowledge of technical drawing because I never did it in school. I was not concerned about learning it because I hated drawing so much. Infact, the last time I drew was in pry 2 when we use to draw mango, apple and basket.

The basic tech I managed to do sef in jss2 ... It was makana makana (mark an arc) we we're just hearing from the man's mouth.

.. fast forward to the exam period Sha...

I had all the instrument for drawing ready but nothing was on my head.
As the invigilator started sharing drawing sheets, the shit in my anus started drawing closer. It was as if I was given a DEATH note.
Then he started sharing question paper. Omo come and see question. I doubt if seasoned architects can answer the question we were told to answer.

Well as a sharp guy Sha.. I couldn't leave my drawing sheets blank so I started drawing...

Omo.. come and see drawing.. I never knew I had the talent to draw rubbish..
I was just drawing different lines that has not been discovered in technical drawing. I was happy with the rubbish I was drawing until the lecturer who was taking the course entered and looked at my drawing.. he laughed and shouted at me saying; " your calling is not engineering, you should go and start selling Coco and akara"... Everyone in the hall bursted in laughter.. even the girl behind me that I was forming efiwe for laughed so hard... When I couldn't take it.. I submitted my rubbish and went out of the hall. On tthe day the result cam out.. I came out with flying colors of failure

For three consecutive years I wrote waec and failed, neco failed, gce failed, nabteb failed...

I kan tire for life.
My dad told me my case wasnt normal that I should go for deliverance.
I went for deliverance, pastor told me that I should go and learn work. I learnt barbing but anytime I Barb customer hair my face use to swell up immediately due to the beating I'd receive after barbing the hair.

I stopped barbing and went to do normal hustle.
It was nothing to write home about. The betshop I worked was a dungeon for me. If I no short 5k today, I go break television or make me and customer fight. I was later sent off at the end of the month with 2500 after debt upon debt.

I was determined to go back to school so I registered for Waec again and jamb too.
Waec wrecked me, likewise did jamb jamb me.

After like two years Sha.. I thank God for life that i am now in unilag selling popcorn for students...
