yomi961: At this most perilous moment in Nigeria’s history, I find Atiku as the right man to lead the country. There has never been a candidate more qualified for our nation’s highest office than Atiku. He has proven time and time again that his competence and capability to turn a hopeless situation around can not be underestimated.
As Vice President between 1999 and 2007, Atiku played a crucial role in upturning the damages of the military regimes on the country, accomplishing a lot, some of which include overseeing the process that paved the way for the liberalization of the telecommunication sector. During that time, Atiku gained wide experience– many of which would come in handy in the job of fixing Nigeria.
Atiku’s vision for building an economy that is strong and not reliant on oil derivation makes so much sense. Not only does Atiku have a plan to encourage active participation of the private sector in the growth of Nigeria’s economy, but he also has a plan to make sure it produced the trickle-down benefits enjoyed in many other parts of the world which does the same.
And assuring about Atiku is the fact that his ideas for Nigeria are not made in vague terms or failed promises, rather they are what has worked elsewhere and can work here too. His policy document in circulation showed he listens to the issues facing every average Nigerian and is ready to do something about them.
Atiku has promised a real effort to unite the country– the kind that will ensure “all Nigerians are equal and should be seen and treated equally.” This is reflected in his campaign theme of “ONE COUNTRY”, a clear commitment to bringing everyone together as ‘ONE PEOPLE’, making it impossible for the proponent of division to make any headway.
This is not just some campaign rhetoric– this is who Atiku is. This is more reason why Atiku is seen as a unifier. He has done it right in his home and can do it for Nigeria. The incentive for a united Nigeria is peace and stability, which are the core ingredients for the development and growth of any nation. The APC has mismanaged our diversity and Atiku is capable of keeping the country as one.
More is the promise of drafting as many as 40 percent of young people into his cabinet, providing them the needed exposure and experience in governance to take over from him. This will be a major shift in the country’s governance template, and one in the right direction, because for the very first time, we will have a president who truly understands the value of young people and does not only believe they are leaders of today but prepared to make it so.
With Atiku in the Aso Rock, we won’t have to wake up every morning worrying about policy inconsistencies and the attendant impact on our lives, nor will we have the fear that he will make decisions based on sentiments. Having Atiku as president will be having a man that knows the problem and has the right plans to address it. Nigeria will be a better place with Atiku as president. Thanks for this. But I have a question for you. Having observed that Atiku paid delegates to vote for him, don't you think it has tampered with the goodwill of the common peoples? Won't it mean desperation? Won't he attempt to recoup the money with profits? Does not the fact that those he paid are now regretting and some returning the money mean thing have gone sour? |

mostob: Bolded 1.... His decision to challenge Richarlison was a good one. Richarlison could have gone ahead and score or assist a goal.
Bolded 2.. He shares part of the blame. Xhaka and Saka share too. On Bolded 2, you believed he could have cleared that ball without fouling Richarlison? Do you know what a technical foul is? Do you know that a goalkeeper when one on one with an attacker if beaten is expected to foul the attacker and concede a penalty rather than allow the attacker to score? |

mostob: If Gabriel had not challenge Richarlison, it's either he score with his left foot or pass to another Spurs player. Saliba was far away to stop such. Gabriel made a good decision to challenge Richarlison -1 but unfortunately he conceded a penalty. Not absolving him of the blame though. -2 After making your initial comments bold-1, kindly explain what you mean at bold-2 |

Lush100: That was or is your quote not mine. My quote is that u saying gabriel who was much closer to Ricarlson should not engage him but rather leave him to Saliba who was farther (who was trying to cover Son at the other end). If Gabu had left Ricarlson and he scored u guys will put the blame on Gabu. So he is bleeped if he did and he is bleeped if he didn't. May heaven reward for your objectivity. I love people who are objective. |

Jodera: So that situation and Suarez own is the same? Oh, this situation is even better than Suarez own because Gabriel wasn't even carded.
I see. There's a similarity. A player commits a foul to stop a scoring opportunity. The only difference is that Suarez was red carded. But that decision took them to the semi finals and he was celebrated for it. If Kane had missed that penalty, we would be celebrating Gabriel. |

Jodera: You can watch the replay again. Saliba was already making the move towards him to narrow the angle before Gabriel brought Richarlison down.
And as for the bolded, it's better to take any of those two options than a penalty especially taking the shot cos it's at his weaker foot. A penalty is 99% goal when be say na Kane dey take am. Any other option aside any rash penalty tackle is better. You didn't watch Ghana Vs Uruguay World Cup QFs A penalty call will always be the better option, especially if you won't be sent off |

Jodera: Gabriel was Rash there. Very very rash. It's entirely unfair to blame that goal on Xhaka when Gabriel dey tackle like person wey no dey inside box. That's nonsense defending from Gabriel If he wasn't rash would it have stopped Richarlison from taking a clear shot at goal? People say he had to stay on his feet as if it would have achieved a anything. The issue is not about his rashness, but he did what he had to do. His rashness made him to block the first pass to Richarlison and the ball was cleared only for Xhaka to return the ball back into danger. I can't imagine how Xhaka goes Scot free and Gabriel must be offered to the gods |

Jodera: I'm so happy for today's game. Arteta and the team seems to have learnt how to control the game from a winning position and that's something that's been underrated. I'm really impressed how we weren't looking for more goals after being 2 goals up with a man advantage. So glad we didn't naively fall for Conte's plan
Saliba is a gift to us mehn. His composure, reading of the game and maturity belies his age. Gabriel on the other hand was a bit jittery esp after that PK but he grew into the game. His rush of blood was what caused that Penalty cos there was no reason to lunge into that tackle on Richarlison. He needs to thank the attack for bailing him out again
White have been very impressive this past few weeks and today's game will add to the reasons why Arteta perhaps isn't wrong to stick with him on the right wing. His overlapping on that right wing really helped in Saka cutting infield to create damage. His understanding with Saka is finally coming to fore. Zinchenko had a good game as he added much strength in midfield. Richarlison subpar game today also helped him
Partey is always Partey. Just glad the long shots his being trying for the past two seasons finally clicked in one of the biggest and most important matches. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of more goals like this from him. Xhaka really had a very great game and capped it off with a good goal. Only blip in the game was his involvement in spurs first goal but aside that, a tremendous performance. Odegaard was unusually subpar today. His ball control, passes and movement was somehow off today, maybe due to having less days to train with this squad as he was one of those who came back late. Hoping to see more from Odegaard next week against Liverpool.
Saka was really impressive today. Gave a torrid time to both Perisic and Lenglet and look to combine more Midfielders and our attackers with White acting as a perfect decoy with his overlapping runs. Good shot which partly resulted in the second goal. Martinelli was good but I think sometimes his decision making needs to be better. Also he needs to look up more and pass. Great run with the ball and layoff for Xhaka's goal. Jesus— What more can I say from him? His persistence was what caused that second goal. I don't know of any arsenal player of past who might score that goal except maybe Sanchez. Great game overall, was a menace to Spuds defenders throughout. Best signing for arsenal in a long while.
Great 3points Great game.
Liverpool next!!! Coyg!! Can't blame Gabriel for causing the penalty. Richarlison was definitely going to score, the penalty delayed it and in fact gave us a chance to prevent it. The fault should go to Xhaka |

iamoyindamola: Kudos to arteta for the overall game management He just showed he has improved from that man u game He managed the second half very well Conte was waiting for us to attack and they will break Very true. We have definitely learnt from that man United game. You could see how they kept possession and used the back 2 whenever they were in tight situations. I am not static in my thinking and always bow to superior arguments. I sat my head down and thought of the positives and negatives of a high line. Y From my post you can see where I listed the qualities required to play the pattern and discovered that we have them. I also pointed out that the most important thing here is for the players to study the game and know when to push up or fall back. |

Lush100: Better to go with Teneiry,
Ask white or Tomi, (who ever plays RB) to play from the midfield position Odegard or Veirra whoever playa 10 should pair with saka and allow the RB to join the defend when without ball. I would have preferred Ziny Partey combo but since it has never been tried, Xhaka has to play more advance and allow RB to provide cover for midfield.(the position of Son's attacking threat. We can readily win the game if we do not play high line defense I want to talk about playing a defensive high line. There are advantages. First is that you pin your opponent far from your goal, so that they will have to use pace and cover a lot of grounds to get a chance to score. Secondly is that you overload their half of the pitch which gives you a closer route to their goal. This is excellent based on two points 1. Is that you need to have fast defenders or defenders who are very good at reading the game so as to intercept a pass and/or disrupt the movement of the attacking player. 2. Is that you need to have players who can keep the ball in tight situations because if they lose the ball often, then you put constant pressure of the defenders. If you don't have these then it's better to sit in the defense because if not you make the game easy for the opponent. We have both of these, especially now that Partey is available. So it's better to play a high line against Spurs. The major issue here is being able to control the game. That means keeping possession of the ball, maintaining wing positions and structure, and being creative enough to keep the opponent afraid to venture. This means our players should not lose their heads and become desperate to score like against Man United but keep their heads. The defenders also should not make rash tackles and give referees opportunity to shine or become famous. |

Jodera: Very Valid and nice points you gave here.
Tho, I don't see Partey being away from his base. On the contrary, he'll be at that anchor to mitigate any counter that Spurs might want to do. We've a lot of creative players and even Zinchenko can be creative going forward (as he usually does). Also, Partey is always creative from deep, so it's better he just stay his anchor position. Afterall, that's what most of us criticized Sambi for which Man u capitalised on That's what I meant by him being creative from that position. Creativity from there is very powerful (that's what's making Iwobi oga for Everton since he was converted). To be creative from there, Partey will need someone that's very technical in their positioning, in releasing the ball to him on time, and able to form a decoy. Someone to beat the press and allow him the time and space to throw a defense splitting pass. That person can be Zinchenko. |

Jodera: I believe he'll use that has motivation. Coupled with the fact that it's our home.
Also, Spuds will want to be deadly seeing that we would come for revenge. Only God knows what's going on in Conte's mind.

daveP: Arteta will better get sense snd put Yasu in his natural position. I don't see White getting the better out of Son. We leave Kane to Saliba. If Zinchenko plays then White is preferred. If Tierney then we will need Tomiyasu to boost our attack. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 8:54am On Sep 30, 2022 |
Jodera: We need to score first and prevent any quick equaliser. Once we do that, we'll be able to control the game better and see out the win
If they score first, we still need to play our game so that we won't be susceptible to counter. All in all, I believe we'll win the midfield battle as previous spurs matches shows that they don't too rely on Midfield like that. So our forwards needs to be clinical and our defence needs to be up for the fight in case of any counter. I must say that game control has been our major problem in big matches. The match against Man United is a good example. Against Tottenham it will even be more serious because it's a derby and Conte is very good at controlling matches or frustrating opposing teams. We saw that against Chelsea and how he provoked Tuchel. Arteta MUST REMAIN CALM IN HIS HEAD even after conceding because any rash decision, Son and Kane will use us form different stats. |

Jodera: Tierney or Zinchenko for NLD?
With both fit to play against Spurs, who do you guys prefer to start.
My Opinion: I'll prefer Tierney to start over Zinchenko. Tierney is a good defender and a better defender than Zinchenko. He's not also bad going forward have we've seen couple of times against big teams. Moreover, Spurs are always deadly on the counter and most of their games this season doesn't involve Midfield play, so Zinchenko wouldn't be so needed to give us that Midfield advantage. Son, Kane and kuluveski/Richarlison are known for pace, counter and getting in behind. Who better to stop any of those 3 than for Tierney on the left flank?
So what's your take guys, who would you prefer? Blueraydick, Iamoyindamola, Roland17, Spy360, Mostob, ObaIgwe1, DaveP, Akinbahm, Jencejyde. There's a reason why Arteta signed Zinchenko and it's for games like this. Zinny is more technical and tactically flexible than Tierney which means more and better options during different phases of transitions. Especially with Partey available, we can easily dominate the midfield with both of them while Xhaka pushes up. This will allow the other defenders forming a back three to focus on defending. Zinny's presence in the trio during attacking phase will also allow Partey to be more creative... ........... Odegaard........... Xhaka Zinchenko Partey Martinelli also prefers Zinchenko as we have seen this season. Marti needs space to isolate his man one on one. Tierney wants to run accross the opponent's backline for a cut back whereas Martinelli should be doing that with Xhaka anchoring for him. The defensive attribute you spoke of for Tierney is just a minute difference. In a back three it's Gabriel who will be doing the defensive work not Zinchenko. Also during defending phase, Xhaka or Martinelli falls back to assist him. So it's very negligible difference in terms of what it adds to the team. Zinchenko all the way. |
