Jodera: All these things you're saying is you giving excuses just because someone couldn't carry out his job correctly.
Blame where the issue that broke down the structure, not the structure itself.
Two things killed us ystdy 1..Finishing off good chances created. 2..Someone not knowing his role in which Man u capitalised on.
If we done these two correctly, na you for they hype both Arteta, arsenal as well as Lokonga. But since we don lose, you just have to blame the structure If you have ever managed people before you will know that people are not the problem but the system or the structure. Fix the system and every component will align. Those that won't align will be naturally eliminated by the structure. That's why players like Pepe, AMN, Torriera etc can't play for Arteta. They are good players but don't fit into the system. What I am saying is this. The team was playing well and having the majority of ball possession which led to equalising. By equalising it means that the home team will push more men forward and increase their press because they want to restore their lead as they are playing at home. The sensible thing to do against such a top team is to set them up by pulling them out of their low defensive block. This will in turn expose their defense line and even make it easier to score more knowing that we were already dominating possession. Had we done this we would have beaten them black and blue honestly. We had them on their throats. They scored the second out of nothing. Lokonga and Xhaka were the cause of this. But I blame Arteta who as the manager did not provide the right system or structure or mentality to manage the game at that point. Why I am not holding Lokonga is because he is inexperienced and wants to impress, but someone like Xhaka should have called him to order. Blaming Lokonga is like blaming a child who wants to please his father by carry 5glass cups at a time instead of one and ends up breaking the cups. Someone should have asked him to do it the simple way. |

Shegzdave: Spy and his oversabi tactics Be like we go appoint am as assistant coach since he don know Arteta tactics pass am .. But for real, how will someone say arsenal doesn’t use DM because Partey is good offensively and defensively? Oga spy, we suppose flog you for seven market days Na joke I dey ooo The tactics used by Arteta does not require a DM. Simple. That's because one of our fullbacks is always inverted. I can't say more. The case of Lokonga wandering for me is his trying to impress. He should have been called to order. He showed inexperience there and someone with experience like Xhaka or Arteta should have called. Even me I was shouting, talk less of Arteta. That's what coaches and captains should do. It's the reason Elneny looks better because he will never wander away. Again, playing a high line at 1-1 away to a top side after just scoring was an error in game management. If we had taken out time we would have won that match 3-1. |

BlueRayDick: You just like making unnecessary excuse for useless players . Arsenal was playing well at 1-1 and had the game in control till Lokonga foolishly gave the ball away and we were punished for that .
You heard the coach refer to it in his post match conference , yet na Arteta u wan blame for Lokonga’s foolishness. Anybody that watched the All or Nothing documentary will know there were times the coach told the team to play A and we see them playing B on the field . Several times we were here claiming Arteta tells them to sit back after a lead only for us to see in the documentary that he actually told them to attack which they didn’t.
If anything at all, one thing I’ve learnt from the documentary is that the coach takes the fall for some of the players’ rubbish most times and we will be here blaming him for everything Are you serious? Who should I blame, Buhari? If his players are not taking the instructions he gives them, I will blame him. That's why he is the manager. He has to manage the team |

Jodera: You want to play deep against people that's playing deep. How does that happen?
After the first goal, we weren't even rushing to even score 2nd goal sef but just dictating play until Lokonga got carried away leaving his position which they capitalised on.
This is how we're always playing, we're dominating, we're getting positions in good areas. We shouldn't try to score because we're away at old Trafford? Na wa ooo The bolded and the second paragraph contradict themselves. Besides what sort of question is that in a football match? In managing a match you know when to play high and when to fall back a little. We pushed to high with much at stake. But we learn every day. |

Roland17: Lokonga complicated things for himself when he tried to play like Partey.
Man was trying to get creative, holding on to the ball and attempting difficult passes after had strayed!
He just needed to keep it simple and do his job. Perfectly and excellently put. Boy wanted to impress those who said he was playing simple game. That's why I like Elneny, you you like cry from now till tomorrow he will only give you his simple pass me I pass you game. Lokonga will have to learn a lot from this going forward. Jodera: Person wey no dey positionally good defensively naim you say make him drop deep?
Moreover, I don't know why you think we shouldn't push forward. So we cannot aim for 3points again even when we're on the ascendency? Na Elneny and Partey injury I blame for this thing sha You are making the same mistake Arteta made. At 1-1 we were far superior in possession, the sensible thing to do when PLAYING AWAY AGAINST MAN UNITED was to drop a bit deeper and maintain control in our half. This would have frustrated Man United players and they would just open nyash for Saka to locate Jesus, who would make a run and score. Such games are won with game management. Yes we can blame Lokonga but his mistake can only be on Arteta who controls the mivemyand position of the players. He should have called him to order. Dude wanted to prove a point to Blueraydick. Away from that , When he had the ball he kept it simple and didn’t overdo things and we were grateful for that . He didn’t get into situations where he would be out-muscled and made to chase an attacker drawing him out of position .
Am I wrong to hope he will give a similar performance against a superior opponent in a high profile match ? With Jesus and Martinelli roaming anyhow, I believe he will have the freedom to make those late runs to the box.
With Zinky and Partey out, our attack and defence will need to step up tomorrow.
We should be expecting a red card and a Penalty tomorrow especially with a lot of controversies in today's EPL matches. Odegaard scores, creates and assists. There's no way right now that ESR will bench him. No way. We are talking about arguably our best player |

Jodera: Are you saying both Martinelli and Saka disobeyed Arteta cos they still didn't switch and maintained their natural wing till the end of the match No. When he took of Tierney, he asked them to switch, they did for a while and returned to their initial positions after an attacking spell. He then asked them the second time to switch (that was when I saw his assistant shouting) which they did. Later on when he brought on Tomi, they returned to their original positions. These events took less than 15mins I think. |

iamoyindamola: No just clearing him na Because everyone knows we needed DM more than tielemans Unlike you that was arguing with jodera about CDM and DM Since he didn't mention you, it's guilty conscience bro. Or are you the spokesman for the thread? By the way the argument was about DM or CM. We don't play a DM or CDM or whatever alphabet you add to the DM. What we play is a CM. We play a CM and two AMs or double 8s. Though one may rightly say that Xhaka is a kind of hybrid of CM and AM. The position of Partey (or Lokonga now) is that of CM. The difference is that, a DM is a player who is only focused on shielding the defense. An example is Ndidi. An AM is focused on creating chances eg Odegaard. The CM is one that does both. But in this case his job is to retain ball possession. Which he does by making himself available to all the players around him. He MUST be a good passer whether short or long. Eg Elneny, Lokonga Now some players can be so good that they give you everything you need. They will shield the defense, retain possession and also create chances with defense breaking passes. Eg Partey. That is why Partey is so loved. But some will mistaken him as a DM whereas he is far more than that. The fact even is that Arteta's tactics does not use a DM by default. He shields his defense using zonal structure where his fullbacks becomes inverted. I have explained this things several times but some of you with pride will not accept. |

Jodera: Nah, try to rewatch the match again, they still shifted to their original positions before the second goal. During the switch, there was a time Martinelli cut inside and took a shot with his left foot which didn't carry enough power and accuracy. Immediately after that, they were switched back to their original position. . If you remember vividly towards the end of the game (before the 2nd goal), Martinelli played a good curling ball, but Palhinha used his head to deflect it out wide for a corner. Where Martinelli played that ball was from the right.
And yeah, we switched to a back 3 with Saka and Martinelli playing wingbacks then later to a back 4 when Tomi was introduced. Arteta is really learning in his tactics I am a kind of fan that is crazy about tactics and formations and so I am very keen on those. I saw Arteta and his assistant shouting at Martinelli and Saka to get the f* back to their wingback positions when they switched the second time. They were only allowed back to their preferred wings when Tomi came up. That second switch was not from Arteta so he asked them to follow instructions. |

Jodera: Hmmmm... If na caution no problems sha but the length of these injuries are troubling.
God knows I'm afraid if anything happens to Saka sha. I mean, no real threat at that wing. I remember against Fulham when Martinelli and Saka switched wing when we were looking for the winning goal. Omo, both Martinelli and Saka wasn't at their explosive best cos they couldn't beat their man effectively and weren't even a goal threat. Arteta have to change them back to their original wings before they could be very effective again. It makes me wonder, how will our right wing be if unfortunately something happens to Saka.
We just need to be proactive against Man u as you said, but we must watch our back I commend your good observation but you didn't capture the reason for the switch. It was tactical and it worked. Arteta switched to a back 3 and used Martinelli and Saka as wingbacks so they switched positions. After we scored Tomi was introduced and we switched back to 4 defenders, and the wingers went back to their original positions. |

Roland17: This is not the season when we should be unpredictable. We should be competing at a consistent and high level if we are to make the top 4. We can’t afford any slips. Sorry it's a misunderstanding. What I meant by unpredictable is not being inconsistent but rather that they may see our players like they are still kids and learning whereas the boys will shock them. We saw how Saliba changed the defense line with his surprise performance, I expect that someone like Martinelli will shock Dalot and whoever is in their defense just as he did Fofana against Leicester. |
