How will you guys rate our players this season?

Leno 7/10... Saved us a lot of times this season, one of the reason we didn't flirt with relegation. Incredible saves made per match basis. Made some errors in some matches tho and seems to me he wasn't a commanding keeper. Overall, one of our consistent performers.

Martinez 7/10... Cool calm and collected. Never really had us scratching our head that we missed Leno. Took the opportunity been presented and took it with aplomb while crowning it up with an Fa cup win. Serious headache for Arteta in the goalkeeping department come next season

DEFENCE

Luiz... 5/10. Mr inconsistent, shine a match and flop or do something disastrous the next. Why his rating increased was cos of his two outstanding display in the semi finals and final of fa cup.

Mustafi. 4/10. .... Not much error shown this season compared to other seasons and was really gaining some momentum before injury cut short his adventure

Tierney 5/10... Came in strong, tho it took a while to show his worth due to injury he had. Hopefully will be a class act next season

Holding. 5/10... Wasn't influential tho but hardly gave a wrong foot in matches he was been played in. Hoping to be a great defender as he matures.

Sokratis.. 3/10.... Epitomises how bad arsenal defence is this season. Churned more bad games than good ones and mostly jittery on the ball.

Mari... 4/10. Showing signs of good things to come before injury halted him. We might get to see more of good things from him next season. Low rating is due to his limited game time he had with us instead of actual performance.

Chambers. 4.5/10... Was good when he was fit. Nothing influential or exceptional.

Kolasinac 2/10... I will regard him as our worst defender this season. Can't mark, can attack, can't cross and easily bypassed aside been jittery on the ball sometimes. Hope for improvement next season.

Saka 8/10... (I'll put him as a defender here cos he played more defensively than attack for us.).
Our sole creator. Really made the lb his own creating chances after chances and putting in impressive display. Definitely a contender for arsenal player of the season.

Niles... 4/10. Didn't put much of a wrong foot but wasn't exceptional except against man city, liv and Chelsea. Was really inconsistent in the beginning but improved later on with Arteta in charge.

Bellerin... 4/10... Was inconsistent also. Sometimes outpaced and he's recovery rate is decline compared to before. Still haven't improved on his crossing abilities.

Soares... 3.5/10... Hardly played due to him coming injured but the few times he did he was inconsistent.

MIDFIELD

Xhaka .. 5.5/10... Was disastrous in the beginning during Emery's charge but turned the corner when Arteta came on board. One of the consistent performers with Arteta in charge.

Torreira.. 4/10.. Not commanding in arsenal midfield compared to last season and really looked like he lost some of his form. Maybe due to formation change or tactics (who knows).
Hoping to see more of good things from him next season.

Guendouzi...4/10... Was a regular in the first half of the season. Nothing spectacular in his play and nothing to really hold him against in his play due to his position, but there's a sense of feeling that he should have offered more. Really a shame that his attitude cost him his place in the squad.

Ceballos 5.5/10... Arsenal main man in midfield aside Xhaka. Really consistent in performance but there's a feeling he could do more in terms of goals and assists.

Willock...3.5/10... A player of immaturity in his play. I don't know what he really brings to the team to be honest. Nor strong enough. He's neither dictating play nor creating play in the middle neither is he also a runner. Don't really know his strength tho.

Ozil... 3.8/10... Didn't really exert influence on the team this season. In an out of the team across the 3 managers. Great performance are few and far in between.

ATTACK

Aubameyang... 9.5/10. Really influential both during the good and bad times.. Scored wen we needed him most and rescued points for us from losing positions. Easily player of the season.

Lacazette 4.5/10.. Couldnt replicate last season form. Was wholly inconsistent as goals also dried up. Hoping next season will be great for him.

Pepe... 5.5/10. Disappointing and annoying most times as he tends to over do with the ball. Average season for him at best but he still came out with some assists to his name as goals were hard to come by as we expected of him. We really need him to improve drastically next season. Hoping the fa cup final is a hint for that

Martinelli.. 6.5/10. Was really a shining light at the tunnel in the dark days of Emery. A hard worker and a good goal scorer. Sad that injury cut him short.
Hoping for more action next season

Nketiah.. 5/10... Really tried replacing laca wen laca was off form. Scored some goals as a striker should. Hoping for more maturity and improvement in his play next season

Nelson... 4.5/10... Nothing spectacular about his play this season. Hoping he improves next season esp in his end product and decision making.

Arteta 7.5/10.... Not easy changing the mentally of this guys, and improving the organization of our team play is no mean feat. Hoping to see more of that and improvement in our team play. Hopefully, he'll be backed in the market

Have I missed anyone..??.
Contribution, opinion and constructive criticism is welcomed

When you gave Martinez 7 despite his limited game time, I think the likes of Holding, Mari, Tierney Martinelli and Chambers deserve at least 6 as they did well when fit, if not Martinez shouldn't score up to 7.

Again Arteta for winning a trophy in his first 6months as a manager beating City and Chelsea through it with superior tactics deserve more than the score you awarded. He took a dying, disjointed, and largely undisciplined team and made winners of them. Changing the whole mentality of the club. He deserves 9.

Aside these your rating is very balanced.

We/I no doubt that one since na.
What we're saying is that our priority now is midfield and attack for top 4. Once it's settled, we face the defence in order to carry league. I no no weda you dey misunderstand us since. We just say we need to win matches with good midfield and attack, yes we'll definitely lose some matches cos of our defence but it'll surely get us top 4(Chelsea a case in point). Once we've done that, we can now sort our defence and we know the system is complete to compete for league.
I have an understanding with you. It's for the doubters

Just saying maka those who didn't accept then...

"I believe in a rule: the scorers win the matches, the defences win the titles", the former Bayern boss told L'Equipe. "I saw that Monaco conceded 44 goals last season, not in 38 matches but in 28 matches. Reims [who finished sixth] allowed only 21. This is a key point that depends on all the players.

You are right my brother. AMN has played RB, CM, and RW this season. Infact his performance at RW against City and Chelsea will give Saka something to think about. He can take his man one on one, he can cross and also defend.

But still fans should be calm, don't forget Wenger won Fa cup in 2017, the following season it was Wenger out and he was sacked.

Good you know he needs money, I'm afraid fans and the board will be too impressed with this squad.
Which fans? The team looks good because it's Arteta. Same way they looked good when Wenger was here. The mistake Wenger made was not to insist on signing quality players. That's the mistake I do not want Arteta to make. He must not pity the board. It's money or I walk. >:

Right hamstring injury sustained during Emirates FA Cup semi-final on July 18. Further assessments during the week identified a significant injury to the right hamstring.

Shkodran is now in the early stages of his recovery and rehabilitation, receiving specialist attention and support from our medical team.

Aiming to return to full training in October.

I don't see any reason why we will lack options because of these guys leaving tho
Don't even start.

It's amusing how we attack those who make the decisions and then we make even the worse. We don't see the consequences because we are not on their shoes.

The reality is that apart from Guendouzi leaving, your suggestions are not plausible. Though I accept your opinion that the club's transfer policies have been faulty, but let those who are paid to make those decisions correct it themselves.

We don't have to look too far for expensive signings. Our scouts can look at some players from teams that are now relegated.

I have been watching 2 players from Norwich since the start of the season, both are defenders and have been spectacular in my eyes. One is Max Aarons and the other is Ben Godfrey. Max especially is better than Bellerin/ Soares, he will be an upgrade to that RB position in my opinion. We don't have to break the bank to get this kid.
That's how they thought Kolasinac was an upgrade on Monreal until they discovered their folly. undecided

I did not read the tonnes of pages I've missed on the thread as such, I do not know the current topic of discuss but I need to say this: I don't want to see Kolasinac starting in an Arsenal shirt either at LB,LCB or LWB come next season. It annoys my soul seeing that guy try to pretend he is a footballer. angry
You are being too harsh in my view.

Kola does not have the energy and tactical nous to sprint up and down the touch line both attacking and defending. But I have seen him do well when assigned a specific job, like marking out a player or playing LWB without much defensive work or just playing on the left side of a back three.

In the first place he is never a first 11 player, he should be coming off the bench for an club as Arsenal. So if we out of poverty of players choose to start him, how is it his fault?
Besides errors are part of football even DDG, as good as he is, is full of errors, talk less of an average dude like Kola.

Let me also clarify that while I want Ozil to move on from Arsenal, mostly because he can’t seem to get along with Arteta and the system, if we are unable to offload him then Arteta has to figure out a way to get him involved with the first team.

I don’t care what you think about him, past his prime or not, the truth is at this time, we do not have any player with his abilities on the offensive end. More importantly, we can not continue to give Baba free money to sit on the bench. I believe he still has something to offer this team.
This is the point I was making when some of us here were asking why we can't sign Christiano Messi.

This also supports your view in your previous post that we should argue based on our current realities not done fantasy.

I have seen Kodded saying we can make €100m from selling some of the few bright spots in our dark squad forgetting how lean the squad is and that there will be another need arising to replace those players.

As it stands now, just as you have also pointed out, our options are hinged on our scouts and the youth team managers. We must look within just as Chelsea did during their transfer ban, especially to make up our squad players; while our scouts should up their game and fetch us some wonder kid from Albania or San Marino. The likes of Smith Rowe (who has similar movements like KDB interestingly) should be reintegrated.

As for those deadwoods, it's either we beg them to leave, send them on permanent loan, or just patiently wait till their contracts are over. Because, I don't see any right thinking club that will part with cash under this Coro era to sign those players even if they are a League 1 club.

Ozil had just 1 assist in 12 games he played for us. He is no longer the player he once was 4 yrs ago. He is washed up. We need to move on, Ozil has nothing to offer us anymore. Wenger benched him by making up ridiculous injury news excuses for him, Emery did same, Ljunberg did, and now Arteta is doing same. The four of them can't be wrong while Ozil remains right. Add Joachim Loew of Germany too, and that's 5 managers reaching same conclusion on Ozil, which is that he is no longer good enough for top level football.

Grealish looks good enough for a team struggling for relegation with no pressure. Can he step up in a bigger team looking for more? His age isn't all that good too, and he would cost significantly alot. Why not go for cheaper and more direct Madison? But I agree with you though.
Grealish is better than all we currently have. If we can get him, that will nice.

Zaha? How many goals and assists did he have this season? As atrocious as Pepe is, he still had a better season than Zaha. Please we can do better than Zaha
Ozil's recent performances have been due to issues off the pitch which either sides have not handled well. He is psychologically down. If we work on him he can save us the cost of getting a player of his calibre. Grealish, Zaha etc will cost us over £70m plus salary, rather than losing him for cheap or paying him to sit on the bench and make up flimsy excuses why he isn't playing, I think as a 'not rich' club we could seek a cheaper option. Ozil created 38 chances this season more than any other Arsenal player. This is something he achieved in the few games he played before the lockdown. As a comparison against Aston Villa no chance at all was created. That being said is enough.

But if we have money, we can call his bluff and go get ourself Thiago Alcantara.
