solomonbrown64: .... Your head is there Baba. Guendouzi changed his game as soon as we went into a back three, he was connecting the midfield well once Torreira took his former position and Willock went forward. Still, it's nice to know we can depend on the youngsters in Midfield to do the job.
.... ....No more excuses of not having world class players again for Ozil and Emery will have an excuse when the backlash comes from benching Ozil. Nevertheless, I hope his head is alright because of the recent happenings as Kolasinac's played his usual game today. Emery is trying to find use for Kola, hence his tactical flexibility. The guy doesn't want to learn fast. Hope a back 3 with Kola at wing back saves us some day. |

kokaneprodigy: Before u read note that I ain’t picking on anyone.
I want to ask. With the slow pace of our game particularly the midfield don’t u think Liverpool will outrun us?
Also I’m not particularly impressed with the vision of some of our midfielders, most often than not the opponent easily predict their passes. Also they hardly pick out players running into open space.
Just my observation. Cos yes we won but it’s a game we could have lost too or shared points with Burnley. I’m glad we got away with our shortcomings but we have to note we can’t get lucky week in week out. That midfield is totally unfamiliar. They are all new to each other hence the slow communication. Our actual midfield will sure do better. With Torriera and Xhaka returning to fitness and Ceballos giving us chance to dream again. |

solomonbrown64: ... Guendouzi likes to hold the ball and recycle possession.. He didn't do much today but defended more but Willock prefers to run with the ball rather. There's no technique yet in his play and he needs to learn that. You don't run all the time, simple passes can save a lot of energy but he is learning. You could see the difference in play when Torreira came to do his work, holding the ball and doing simple passes while Willock went up there.
.... The midfield was moving and it was dynamic. Xhaka holds the ball and distributes better but that mobility that was characteristic of the three midfielders today. The quick turning with the ball is what we lack when Xhaka starts but he is a better passer of the ball. You observed well. Guendouzi played at DM today. Whereas he is a runner-box player. Against a better side, we would ship enough goals as he didn't protect the defence well. But he still tried, DM does not fit him. A combo of Xhaka, Torriera and Ceballos will be mouth watering. I pity for Ozil, because based on what I saw today of Ceballos, Ozil's bench would be made in Germany... |

solomonbrown64: ..... I believe that's the difference between him and Guendouzi but I think he is runner and a destroyer hybrid.. He will get better. Willock has a similar play pattern as Guendouzi. The run tirelessly while attacking their man. Both are full of youthfulness and lack experience. They need to slow down a bit and control the game. But I believe with time the will come good. |

@Solomonbrown64, your point taken. But based on the comparison you made (Ozil and Willock) taking off Chambers for a volatile Luiz must be on the basis that Luiz is ABSOLUTELY or UNQUESTIONABLY better than Chambers right now, something I don't believe especially after his last performance. If that is the case then good enough. At least Chambers would respect the decision.
We need competition in every department. Players shouldn't have the impression that starting is their birthright. They have to earn it- the way Leno displaced Cech last season. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:20pm On Aug 16, 2019 |
solomonbrown64: ..... Chambers was solid against a very poor Newcastle side and we also struggled to move the ball from the back because of the two centre backs who couldn't especially Chambers. Luiz is a better and far more experienced defender than Chambers and he is one of the best center backs in the league when it comes to playing from the back. The coach is after results and not spoiling any one's game. Even Chambers himself knows Luiz is the better defender. ( read his recent quotes about him.)
.... Moreover, Chambers won Fulham's player of the season playing in midfield, he didn't do well in defense. It was Newcastle bro, let's not get carried away here.
... Ozil might start, it's not a sure thing. He only just returned to training. I think people just overkill Mkhi on this thread, he actually created lots of chances against Newcastle just that his final ball was always over hit. He will get it right, he is close. I see him starting. Ozil is better at creating chances, yes; but right now, it's who is ready and not who is better. Mhki is ready, not sure about Ozil at this point. Luiz is better than Chambers no doubt. My point is in giving him another game as a reward for a good performance. It's Burnley, so an extra game won't be too expensive. We need to start giving youth place. Players are over priced, the more home bred the more stable the club will b e financially. Taking a look at Chelsea, though born out of necessity, their team look more exciting due to the injection of young blood blended with experience. Definitely, Luiz will take his place as starting CB, but as long as Chambers keep making the grades, he shouldn't lose his position. It will give a positive signal to other young players in the squad, and also add value to the player in case we choose to sell. Look at Rene-Adelaide, after just one season with Angers is now worth 23m. If we had played him last season he would have gone for no less than 30m. Just as Iwobi. |

davodyguy: @ the highlighted, great that you clarified.
What we are talking about has something to do with the satellite DSTV gets the contents from. Yes we all agree that content provider is IMG. IMG then pacakges these contents into several channels (majorly on days of same kick off at various centres) and transmit them to DSTV through 'feeds'
But we in Nigeria are not sure of the satellite through which DSTV gets these contents.
For the German league, Sportec Solutions does what IMG is doing in England. From their site i copied this
As for the bundesliga, I'm not sure they are well secured as that of the EPL. They are using 8 degrees west to 'feed' startimes who them encode and send to us on DTH and DTT. Startimes broadcast bundesliga English and French to all Sub-Saharan Africa comprising South Africa, West Africa and East Africa. beIN Sports Arabia controls MENA
It's good we have this kind of discourse once in a while, after all its part of Satellite TV
cheers My question is why is the satellite feed for dstv so secretive that even their engineers seem so loyal as not to reveal the mystery sat. |

solomonbrown64: ..... Xhaka is injured, a slight keg bruise but he will be assessed to see if he can start. He is extremely crucial to how we play and shouldn't be risked for the forthcoming games. I hope Guendouzi and Willock and Mhki will be ready to take the Midfield in his absence but I won't be surprised if Ceballos and Torreira starts ahead of the two up there. I don't Pepe will start but if Emery feels he is ready then he will.
... LINE-UP - Leno - AMN - Sokratis - Luiz - Monreal - Xhaka/Guendouzi - Guendouzi/Torreira- Ceballos/ Mhki - Lacazette - Auba - Pepe/Mhki..... We might have Ozil and Kolasinac on the bench this time.
... We have to win this game. Winning against lower oppositions is massive to securing top four this season. Why would Chambers be dropped after such an impressive performance against Newcastle. I think it's bad for morale and a negative sign for other youngsters in the squad. Reason why we lost Rene-Adelaide, and co. Chambers was Fulham's player of the season despite being a loanee. Again I think Ozil will start. He is better than Ceballos and Mkhi unless he proves otherwise. |

ben1daEbiri: First of all,let me clear the air. I'M PROMOTING DSTV or neither are my a DSTV agent
I can't verify your claims for others but for that of EPL,DSTV doesn't broadcast it using a FEED. Before these events grace our screens,it must pass through a "stream" or several streams. For everywhere in the world where the EPL is broadcasted in English, there's a dedicated channel that markets these "contents" including all of its programs [Football today, fanzone, preview and review, netbusters and all the rest) During live matches, the same camera that records these events live in the stadium are the same views you see on your TV as long as you're elsewhere [Not in the UK] excluding Sky and BT. Commentary and Studio analysis MAY vary but content is the same — of course there are renderings made to enhance picture and audio, noise cancellation and all that which is done by the technical team of the content holder;data is transmitted and encrypted at the same time. Do you know why that funny looking alphabet combination appears on your screen while a live match is on? It's different for several providers but appears at the same time, this keys vary too. If you have an orange tree and supply oranges to several people, you must not tell them what to do with it,one can directly resell in the market while the other makes juice with it. You should check again what a FEED means. Again,I'm not a DSTV agent!!! Davodyguy please continue this discussion, I am learning through it. Though I believe that live transmission comes through feeds which are locked with keys. Whether dstv or not. |

Still not a fan of Lacazette but I understand he is a different kind of forward similar to what Giroud brings to the table but now we have that balance that Wenger wanted to create before Van Persie took off. A back to goal forward that controls the ball and brings other people to the play and another who is a deadly, pacy finisher. Giroud was preferred in the French NT. Says a lot. Some people just find it difficult to see good in others. Everyone cannot be the same, that is why we all have something to offer. Playing back to goal, Giroud is better than any striker alive. That's why Chelsea paid 18m for him. |

I remember Wilshere saying he watches a lot of Pirlo videos. Wasn't Wenger his coach then but there was something he wanted to master and Wenger couldn't give him that.
.... Coaches like Klopp, Wenger and Guardiola are rare because they work on players and make them better. Others are very good managers and better tacticians and I think Emery falls into that category. But still, major developments in players is due to the coach but players pick one or two things from better players in their positions too. Bad move if money is just to balance account books for other already bought players , as its beginning to look like. See Pepe as Iwobi's replacement. It was the bid from Everton that helped push for Tierney and Luiz. We are not United or Man City. We are poor. The earlier it sinks the better. Remember our budget was 45m? I think Iwobi's Everton move is beneficial to all parties.
Arsenal gets a decent price for an academic product that didn't really meet expections at 23. He was still preferred over Nelson and Saka, but 40m was too good to pass by.
Iwobi gets a chance to play his preferred position, while getting more pay. He also gets another opportunity to springboard his career.
Everton gets a utility player, in replacement for failed Zaha bid. He is EpL experienced and will surely add quality to their squad. |
