This formation has really allowed pressure, but then it's still 0-0.

This formation, a 4-4-2 was what I actually suggested, though with different performers. Ceballos will behind Auba and Pepe. There are no outright wingers.

Giroud wasn’t the main striker at Chelsea, he was bought as a plan B.

Our main striker was bought as a plan B that should tell the whole story.
So why badge him with plan A responsibility? Blame the club for not signing top players, don't blame players punching above the weights just to keep fans happy.

The way we criticise is not fair. If Auba scores less than 20goals we can criticise him. But if Nketiah for example does 10 then we have to even praise him.

Giroud was never going to be like Henry both in style and productivity. Some what's the shiiit about?

Ramsey used to come under the same stick from silly fans till he went off to Juventus with a better deal and even prospect. Those silly fans who haven't achieved anything in life never saw anything good in him till he moved.

Now they want to start the same thing with Guendouzi. Guendouzi now is not Kroos or Modric but silly fans expect him to offer same quality. Such nonsense.

Giroud-
Chelsea has won the CL, Europa and even the PL more recently than us. Yet they signed Giroud, for 16m from us, and he killed us twice including in the EL finals.

Its common sense.

Don't mind those hypocrites. If Sod and Kokaneprodigy can't support this club, they should bleep off just as Pickabeau did. It's more honorable.

When players do well and punch above their weights, praise them. That's what Guendouzi has been doing. When they mess up like Xhaka give them the stick. That's what fans do. Not these useless daily rantings.

solomonbrown64:
..... Then knowing Emery, he will put out a formation to counter theirs. We can't just start with that formation else Niles and Monreal will be roasted especially the former. Did you guys also notice that Pepe didn't track back enough last match? On a few occasions he watched as a Burnley attacker move past him a few times. I didn't like that but then he is still new as Auba was once like that but it just means that if he starts, we can't trust him to track Mane hence it will be risky to start with a back four or a formation that leaves the wings open when the fullback push up.
The wings aren't open; Xhaka and Guendouzi are there as cover, including when our fullbacks push forward.

It is only on the offensive that we would have problems, but then we do not have the quality to pin Liverpool down, we can only depend on breaking and countering.

solomonbrown64:
.... Yup, one of many tinkerings we will see during the game depending on the direction of the game. Protecting the wings and frustrating their attacking moves should be our first priority for the duration of the first half while taking our chances.
Liverpool actually employs a similar tactics in midfield which allows their fullbacks space to attack. It's also the middle three that follows up their pressing behind the front three.

This will be good for 2nd half around 65th minute, that's if we leading or drawing the game, Starting that means our wings will be exposed..
Liverpool play more from wing than middle.
Wings will be covered with 3 DMs.

This tactical approach which is largely defensive will take care of assault from the flanks as well as centre, while maintaining threat up front. It's like taking an underdog status while remaining potent. Jose Mourinho would love this. Take a closer look.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 9:56am On Aug 20, 2019
My team Vs Liverpool...
4-4-2
................. Leno................
Niles... Papa... Luiz... Mon

Xhaka... Torreira... Guen

............... Ceballos............

... ...... Pepe... Auba. ......

Idea is to choke the middle to deal with Liverpool press, and leave speedsters upfront to hazzle their defence. Ceballos who is skillful and can see a pass is tactically placed behind Pepe and Auba.

2-3
We win.

solomonbrown64:
.... I don't think People realize the loss of Bellerin and Holding was massive to our horrible defeat at Anfield recently. Their loss was primarily the reason why the defense couldn't handle the pressure and press of Liverpool. Mustafi and Torreira contributed to 2-3 of their goals. Having Luis and Ceballos to beat the press will help a great deal. While we now have a scary attack, Niles is still a big problem.

.... Moreover, we can't go through with one plan and tactics in mind. We might either start with a flat four and try to seize control of the Midfield with excellent off the ball movement which we haven't perfected yet because Emery doesn't use the lines in Midfield, he prefers using the wings. So we will most likely use a 3 at the back at a point in the game. The exact one Emery starts with is what I can't tell. But absolutely, we can't go in with one strategy against them, just absorbing pressure and countering. That will be a grave mistake. If Emery tinkered with formation against a Burnley side, then I expect more tinkering against a team that come out in full throttle and play their best against the top six at home.
If Niles can focus more on defending I think he can have a good game. His major problem has been match reading. Not being a natural left back, he finds it difficult to track back when we lose possession.

Ceballos is a type that will help out in defending from midfield. In addition to being able to hold possession and release a through pass, he can break Liverpool's dominance in midfield.

Compared to last season, I think we have a good team to at least give Liverpool a run for their money.

...... I don watch that Pepe Nutmeg tire, chai.... the guy wicked oh grin grin ..... pesin papa. I guess the notion that he can't dribble in tight places have been disproved. I was wrong about that. He attempted six take ones in 45 minutes and completed 4, we now have Iwobi's replacement and we know Ceballos attempted the same numbers with Pepe and completed same, although it was for around 70+ minutes instead of 45. Such skills are going to be massive for us against teams that frustrated us last season.

.... I also watched Ceballos's highlights and I saw purpose and meaning in everything he did. If he continues like this, it won't be only us who will bid for him, Guardiola might even chook head although I think we have first refusal on him, not sure though.

... The competition is huge in the squad, at the moment only the defense, Leno and Auba is assured of a place in the first eleven and as the season goes on, those assured places might just be only Leno and Auba and Pepe. By the time the whole squad gets back, Willock and Nelson won't even see the bench, it is perhaps why the former is killing himself on the field because he knows this, I don't think Nelson knows this. It's a massive squad now. Great times ahead.
With skillful players like Pepe, it doesn't matter who the defender is, he can get beaten. That is why I am a bit confident going against Liverpool.

If the push high we have the resources to catch them on the counter. With speedsters like Pepe and Auba, and Ceballos to beat the press, Liverpool won't find it funny at all.

Pepe one on one with Alex Arnold or Gomez or Robertson, he will pass at least once in two occasions.

with the resources we have we should be displaying a lineup opponents will be wary of. Instead we take conservative approach. Imagine Ozil coming in for Ceballos after 60 or 70mins and vice versa or Guen coming in for Torreira since he shines more when he starts off the bench, subs like Mikki for Pepe etc. but Emery must find a way to make things difficult.
The good thing is that we now have options. With more natural wingers, our present squad is better than last season's .
