dominique: Edu gasper was the clog we never knew we had in our wheels. Last year when the club was on the search for striker, Gyokeres caught Arteta's eyes but Edu immediately shut it down saying this kind of player can never fit into Arsenal's style of play and recommended Sesko. He's the reason why Sesko has been linked with Arsenal for donkey years and Gyökeres just this summer. Can you imagine the book of lamentations we go don open assuming we had signed this error of a striker called Sesko? Now he has carried his wahala to Nottingham forest and has already fallen out with the coach and the coach is on his way out. Andrea Berta opened our eyes to a lot of things we missed out on while Edu was still sporting director. Everything you said is not true. 1. Edu didn't suggest Sesko. It was Arteta even when Bertha came, Arteta still insisted on Sesko until Sesko started misbehaving. 2. Edu didn't fall out with Nuno. In fact he was caught between the fight between Nuno and the owner. 3. Bertha is a brilliant SD and deserves his praise. But he didn't open our eyes to anything. For example, Zubimendi was Edu's work through and through. Edu stopped him from joining Liverpool last season. Besides, Edu didn't get 300m like Bertha did this window. Edu had to scrape through meagre resources. Edu sold Nketiah 30m and ESR 30m. Bertha has sold Kiwior for less than 20m. So while praising Bertha, leave Edu out of it. |

mostob: Andrea Berta has set an internal deadline to reach a conclusion with Leverkusen for Hincapie. He does not want talks to drag on into deadline day leaving Arsenal scrambling for a replacement for Kiwior (One source suggested 48 hours)
Sources with knowledge suggest that there is a secret verbal pact between Hincapie and senior members at the club where he could leave for below his RC of €60m.
Andrea Berta is well informed on such intel is aiming to negotiate a package around €50m or slightly less. Talks ongoing between the clubs to reach a conclusion. Loan+obligation is the preference for both clubs to record the transaction on next years financial records but different formulas are being discussed.
Important to note that Hincapie rejected other clubs once Andrea made contact ultimately forcing Leverkusen to deal with Arsenal only. Although he has been a long term target for Arsenal, Berta has kept excellent relations with his camp from his days at Athletico which made it very very easy to reject Sp***. We upgraded our sporting director role. Edu tried and really did well, but Bertha is a super star in that their job role |

Loan options? You think he's coming back at that give away price You cannot be selling a player you don't use for premium fee. Besides moving to a lower league or club will not attract huge fees. If the transfer is reverse we won't pay less than 30m for the same quality. If he was moving to a club like Man City or Real Madrid, we will get more than 30m. |

mostob: Arteta confirms Eze was about to join Spurs, but he called him last minute to see if a move to Arsenal was still possible.
"Yes he called me, and that shows how much he wanted to come here. Of course he was about to make a decision for his career but am delighted to have him here. you can see what this move means to him and his entire family and am sure we gonna have some great moments together"
Eze really wanted this move. Like calling the coach to ask if a move is possible... Chai.. The love is massive Every player wants to join Arsenal. But it didn't start today. It started since 2020 when Arteta announced the 'Trust The Process' project. The past three years have shown a level of consistency that any top player will love to take the advantage of helping the team cross the line. Trust the process. |

Silentgroper: ..
Let's use guehi as an example.. Liverpool wants guehi, Chelsea wants guehi but guehi has only chosen Liverpool despite being a former Chelsea player that was sold or released for not being good enough..
Do you get my point now, naturally, I wouldn't go back to the club that didn't believe in me ..
The bolded is subjective. That's because probably 99% of those who rejected him are no longer with the club. Also, for some the rejection itself can even be the motivation to sign. Anybody can sign or choose any club and their choices and reasons remain personal. Choice of club to sign for includes several reasons and does not ultimately depend on affiliations. For example, if Arsenal had not equalled Spurs deal, love for Arsenal won't make Eze change his mind. Again if Spurs were a top two PL club and Arsenal finished 14th last season probably the choice would have been different too. So it doesn't simply boil down to which club you love more. When all things are equal, individuals will choose base on their own scale of preferences, which completely differs from one individual to another. |

When I said the Board was to blame for the failure of the past season because no money was released to sign players despite the injury crisis, I have been vindicated.
Board intervention means there's no need to sell a player before they buy. If the manager has to sell a player then no investment was made.
Last season, no investment was made. Arsenal sold two attacking players to cover a defensive and midfield problem.
In January, no player was signed despite a season ending injury to Jesus. Then suddenly we were left with no strikers at all when Kai got injured.
This season we have tasted what it means to have an investment.
Seven players signed, over 250m spent without have to sell anyone. Havertz got injured and the following day Eze is signed for 60m+.
This is how Pep and other top managers win titles.
You cannot blame a workman, when you've given him no tools. You cannot fault a student when he's got no learning aids.
Now that the Board has done the right things, everyone will back an Arteta sack if he doesn't bring home at least two titles, including a major one this season. |

raumdeuter: Yes when they see they have no aptitude for school and go into other endeavors and excel. Alaba Onitsha, Aba, Sabo and Balogun market is filled with men and women who didn't go beyond JS3 and were successful, Some of them failed out. You might say that's in Nigeria but even abroad,
I don't have the data but I can say people who have exceptional social skills are likely to be more successful than those with exceptional academic skills.
Some of these CEOs were not exceptionally brilliant, but they know how to manage people. At over 20yrs after University graduation, I can tell you that your people skills, social skills are as important if not more important than your academic skills in life. By 5yrs post graduation many people wont even ask for your grade Social and academic skills are not mutually exclusive. How do you grade social skills? I agree that it is possible to find someone who isn't good academically but good in other aspects of life But there is a higher probability of finding someone that is good academically and also good in other aspects of life. That's the points. Intelligence is not something you stumble at. It is an ability. That ability is what gets people going and makes them successful in whatever they do and that's what is reflected in academics. |

raumdeuter: Some people are not just cut for school and academics but when it gets to running a business they will turn you a graduate inside out. While you are paying attention in school they were focusing on other things which they became successful at
Some while you were studying were playing football till they became successful, some were focusing on music, some were doing petty trading etc Such people can only prove whatever they are successful at only when they are able to identify those areas and become active in them. That means I cannot see an itibolibo and say he will succeed in business or governance just because one rare person succeeded. As a matter of fact, the chances of an academically intelligent person succeeding in any other venture is far higher than an unintelligent person. |

raumdeuter: Likewise for 1 successful WAEC student who made it in life, there are 1000 who did not Cosmas and Femi have shown that school education is not the only way to be successful, Many go through alternate routes e.g business, military, entertainment, sports etc and are successful. The acumen they used to manage their lives and business to success if they can bring it to the state level will be beneficial There have been Professors who became governors and didnt do well at all, Practical knowledge of real world issues is different from book and theoretical knowledge. As long as you can show us how you became successful at managing your life and business.
We saw one former Prof who became governor and his main achievement was the fancy names given to budgets There's a difference in not taking WAEC and actually taking it and failing. I can understand a successful person who didn't go to school or who dropped out, but I cannot accept someone who actually took that route but failed or did not show intelligence. |
