pickabeau1: I still don't know why the injury virus is strong in arsenal
Maybe the possession style invites it...?
But barca seldom get injured If I were to put up an hypothesis I'd say 1. The training regime, I heard AW puts the boys into short but strict endurance practices such as short sprints. 2. Considering that we have more technical than physical players, engaging mainly physical opponents. 3. Our pattern of play that involves so much twisting and turning, usually aimlessly. 4. North London witches and wizards. |

hariorh: The press started it actually.
Wenger was queried on why he had so many foreign players.
He replied citing John Terry as the only homegrown English player Chelsea have.
Mou replied calling him a vo.ye.ur. Masturbating while watching other teams and not his own.
Na there war start.
Right now I think Mou wants to settle down. He loves Chelsea and is not really interested in making money off his sack. Surely that money is huge and the likes of PSG are waiting to snap him up but would it make him happy? I doubt that. You are on the spot, I like your reasoning. Mourinho became ashamed of his inability to hold down a club beyond three years, gallivanting accross Europe like a monkey from one tree club to another. Now back at Chelsea, he wanted to put pressure on his employer to consider him long term especially after winning the title. He wondered why Arsene, despite not winning the title for 10 seasons still has more security than himself. Offcourse he never expected to find himself in this present mess- 16th position after 12games. Guess he now appreciates the likes of Ferguson and Wenger who after several years in a particular club have remained consistently at the top of their games. |

What I expect fans to do is to agitate for signing of top players by the club. But wishing for AW's sack is a malaria induced dream. The guy even said he was afraid of retirement and wondered how Ferguson copes with it.
Again sacking Wenger is sacking one of the best tacticians in the history of the game, the Black Scarf Movement would resist it with their blood. |

hariorh: I doubt you clicked any of the links.
Like we agreed earlier, football is not 2 + 2. So no point arguing what could have been if we bought any outfield player. But in terms of performances, vidal and Douglas Costa are doing well at Bayern. Weren't we linked with one or both of them few months ago?
Even Cech has his shaky periods despite his impact. Ospina has been very woeful so making it look as if Cech is a saint. You didn't expect me to read those rubbish did you? Vidal- no. Douglas Costa- yes, but then do we need him when we have got Sanchez? Please give me more reasons. Thanks. |

hariorh: Sir, I beg to differ
Most of these players you listed didn't come up from the academy of their present club. They were purchased at one time or the other. Most of them in top form before they were snapped up. Surely their former clubs never wanted them sold but since the money package was juciy, off they left their clubs.
Players are available sir... How much is Wenger willing to part with? That's the question. Even Messi is willing to join Arsenal. Its all about the money sir.

Simple, if you are right that Messi was available then he would be with Man City since they are able and willing to spend. That he didn't move meant he wasn't available. The argument I expect from you is to prove that among all the players that changed clubs last summer if any could have made a huge impact with Arsenal. I dare you to point one, ONE. We got Cech from Chelsea, see what impact he has made so far. |

hariorh: Sterling was also an unhappy player sold to an English rival too
Still goes down to show that Wenger had the money but wasn't willing to spend it. So the assertion that there are no good players out there is stemmed from stingy ignorance. Don't get it twisted, you are comparing players who had one year left of their contracts with one that had three. Different situations. Secondly, no one claimed there are no good players out there, rather they were not available. Example, Man Utd got Martial, Chelsea got Pedro, Liverpool got Firmino, Man City got maybe Sterling. The question is what difference have they made to their respective teams compared to ours? If you talk of good players then talk of the likes of Lewandoski, Muller, Benzema, Neymar, Ronaldo, Messi etc. Obviously these lots are not available. This is simple enough for you to understand unless you really want to argue. |

hariorh: It's not 2+2. If Suarez had not gone to Barca we never know what could have been to be honest.
Liverpool didn't want to sell him at all (English side or not) If it's by English sides didn't Torres get sold to Chelsea?
Also, Wenger's approach was met with ridicule by the Liverpool board. He met the release clause £40m and then added £1 to it as jara That was the end of bidding from le prof
Who does that? Suarez's agent told AW a lie about the player's release clause that prompted that bid. And because the player had 3years more in his contract, Liverpool knew they were on the advantage. Torres' case was different, he had one year left on his contract, Chelsea came with £50mil, Liverpool couldn't keep an unhappy player and lose him for nothing the following year. |

edoyad: I'm a gooner too, but I don't really know if kicking Wenger out is the magic move. I for one feel like he can be forced into making those big signings by the board, but something has to trigger it. There's really no need firing Wenger, he's like 70 years old now and still smokes, I mean how much time does he have left ? What pains me was that he failed to bring someone after Welbeck's set back was discovered. The guy actually planned to rely on Walcott, can you imagine ? Sabbatical Wally, I even mentioned it back then. Let me search through my posts You see the problem with Wenger is that he is joint top of the league with Man City, and he has done that so far with Giroud and Walcott as his stirkers. Remember that Man Utd still has Martial and we hammered them 3-0. Chelsea has Costa and are in 16th position. Those speak volumes. Let me leak you a secret, if we sack Wenger today Chelsea will sign him up tomorrow |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 11:53pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
hariorh: This is very wrong...
There's a lot of strikers out there better than Giroud.
Not willing to spend is different from not having options of what to buy
We had the opportunity to get Suarez but Wenger blew it. Now he's scoring (what could have been our) goals and assists for fun in La Liga and champions league
Imagine a Sanchez/Suarez partnership leading our attack and compare with what we have now. Football and life in general is not 2+2. If Suarez had not gone to Barca, Sanchez wouldn't be here now. If you followed the Suarez saga, you would agree that Liverpool never wanted to sell especially to another English side. They let Suarez go to Barca for £70mil because he had lots of banning issues from FIFA. |

edoyad: There's no such thing as the best not being available, that's a Wenger creation and Arsenal fans are the only fans in global sports who believe that thing unequivocally. I'm sorry but you just can't tell me that a team with the global appeal and patronage that arsenal enjoys cannot do better than Giroud. I'd prefer to dole my hard earned thousands for a Neymar Jersey right now before I consider a Giroud or Welbeck one. Do the guys factor these things into their business plan? We have to remember Arsenal is also a business apart from a football club. If we continue like this we will find ourselves in the same hole Liverpool's in a few years. Believe me that will be a far deeper hole to crawl out from Please don't get me wrong, I believe you totally. I love Neymar too when I said 'not available' I meant that like as now the window is not open so we can't get him. But right now we have Giroud, so do we ignore him and sit to wish for Neymar? Besides, even if we have £200million to spend, can that make Neymar to leave Barca for Arsenal? Answer is NO! The earlier we start loving Giroud the better for our health- personal health to avoid HBP. |

edoyad: Let's get something right. Just because Giroud's good doesn't mean we can't aspire for more. Let's look at our European Nemesis for example: Mario Gomez was exceptional, still is a good striker, but is he still at Bayern ? Mandzukic came afterwards, scored loads of goals, but even while he was doing that he knew his time was up cos Lewandowski´s plane was at the airport. While Giroud's good, nothing stops us from aspiring for the best, because frankly speaking, Arsenal is deserving of the best of the best. Just like Barca, PSG or City, we need to have players who inspire even the litte kids amongst us. I'm sorry Giroud just isn't it. But thank goodness we have Alexis and Ozil filling that void, for now. We should aspire for the best but when the best is not available, we should make the best out of what we have got. We have got Giroud for now, and he is doing well- scored 6 league goals this season that's no mean feat. |

pickabeau1: Apologies....did not mean it that way
Walcott has had his chances in the center against top opposition and flopped countless times If I should be a bad advocate for Walcott I would say he is still learning the striker role. Obviously there is a vast improvement compared to last season. He isn't scoring, but his pace will always be a threat to opposition. It is therefore left for other team mates to take advantage of. Personally, I wonder what a Giroud-Walcott partnership would be like. Though that would mean a change of playing pattern, but I'll like to see it. |
