proudlysports: He took it because he was ready. Many of our youngsters today are not ready. The ones close to being ready (MAYBE Akpom and MAYBE Zelalem) are still on loan and even for those two, it's a big MAYBE.
Interestingly, one player I reckon might just do a Coquelin for us if AW recalls him is Maitland Niles. He's consistently played on the eight at Ipswitch and done very well in a few games I've seen. Though he's just 18, he's the closest to solving our problems IMO if we're looking at the academy boys Honestly I depend solely on your assessment of those academy boys, make sure your infos are correct because I use them for my arguments. thanks. |

iPopAlomo: errr... He had mad reviews at Charlton... the fans there loved him... Yes, it contributed to Wenger recalling him. But that wouldn't have been enough had we not had injury crisis. The reason I love him is because he saw his chance and took it with both hands and feet. |

proudlysports: Anyone who followed Coq's career would not have been really surprised at his current form. He has always shown his talent (except when he was in Germany when his form dipped). Bellerin also showed form on loan at Watford although my grouse with him then was his constant bombing forward hence leaving his position prone to counters. It's probably why Ramsey complements him well at Arsenal.
Joel also showed good form whilst on loan in Greece and Spain. Though not a constant name in the first team especially in Spain, whenever he played, he did well. My worry now is the fact that he hasn't had enough games in the premier league. What I know about him though is that he is a workaholic and very good defensively so I have no worry he can complement Bellerin like Ramsey. I believe if he stays disciplined for 90 minutes, we shouldn't have a problem against Montero/Swansea.
Good thing is that Joel can also play up front so I suspect we will see him play instead of Giroud in some games depending on length of injuries to Theo and The Ox
I personally don't think Iwobi is ready. He's only starting to edge the academy team. Haa! You may have, but just as Ramsey, few people gave Le Coq a chance to return to Arsenal after Charlton, no not even Wenger. It was his performance on loan that first stanza of the season and the fact that injuries had ravaged the team that he was recalled by AW, if not this story would never be told. |

Fkhalifa: I meant an in form debuchy is better defensively than bellerin, if you check he and sagna's stat before we signed him up, he edged sagna on most cases, be it aireal duels won, physical battles and many orthers but bellerin suit us more because he is good when going forward and has the pace to track back so quick..buh condemning debauchy to me is unfair on the lad. Bellerin's performance now is better than what Debuchy gave us even when he was on form, besides that Bellerin is improving with every game that alone tells you why Debuchy cannot catch up. He has got pace, awareness, dribbling, crosses, etc I mean this guy is the best chance creator in Europe- don't laugh its not a joke... |

Nihilist: I have to disagree with Nateevs.
Last season, we did not struggle to create chances. We averaged almost 60% Possesion in the league.
While Hazard assumed the role of the 'game changer', Fabregas finished with the highest number of assists in the league. Ivanovic directly contributed to 9 or 10 league goals, and assisted the 'assister' in several more.
And while the team was fatigued towards the end of the season, historically and statistically speaking, fatigue is a common challenge to the top EPL teams post-January, given the frantic Christmas schedule.
We have struggled this year due to Jose's recalcitrant and arrogant outlook to the game but NOT due his perceived 'negative tactics'
Put simply, Na overskill dey worry Jose. I was listening to Stan Collymore on Talksport who reported rumours from Cobham that Chelsea's entire pre-season regime consisted of just 16 training sessions. Bear in mind that these sessions are usually a maximum of 2 hours long.
In addition to this, the players reportedly even got an extra week off ontop of the regular holiday period. The idea was that the Chelsea players would build up fitness as the season progressed. Imagine that?!
Well, that backfired spectacularly. Hazard came back looking decidedly chunky and Costa looked relatively obese compared to previous photos. Bar Willian, the players have looked out of gas quickly in our previous games. Mentally, they're still not there yet.
Jose has also made some baffling decisions. I don't believe Baba Rahman is so bad that a big lumbering centre back like Zouma is preferable to him. The Falcao deal is just shocking on every level especially considering both manager and player share the same super agent. The musical chairs scenario at centre back continues and djololobobodji or whatever his name is can't get a sniff. Ivanovic is still assured a place in Jose's side and I wonder why. It's one thing to be beaten at pace by a speedy winger, but when Tadic can bamboozle you to the floor from a standing position, then you have to give serious consideration to the idea of early retirement
Then to further compound our woes, Jose has been engaging in off-field antics that seem to have divided the dressing room. I wonder particularly about Hazard's opinion on Jose's treatment of Eva...considering he was the player deemed in danger at the time.
So Jose has been ridiculously complacent, and that complacency has seeped very deeply into the dressing room. Coupled with his ridiculous off-field antics, questionable recruitment policy, and jaundiced team selections, it's easy to see how tactical instructions are the least culpable reasons for our current travails.
Quite simply, Overskills dey sunch... Inasmuch as I respect your thoughts they actually betray themselves. Would you consider that the current situation may be a long term effect of Jose's tactics? Wonder why he has not spent over three seasons at a single club? Can you remember Hazard complaining last season that Chelsea 'don't play ball', same reason why Jose sold off Mata even though he was Chelsea's best player prior? What was Jose's excuse for leaving Hazard, same old Hazard on the bench against Dinamo Kiev? Jose's got no tactics- no good football. Take a look at what Monk is doing wih Swansea. |

nateevs: Abeg make una free Bimfo jor. He was only being very optimistic and positive about his team.
My gripe was where the optimism came from.
When the likes of Nateevs was screaming last season that we were stumbling along and just barely reaching the finish line, many thought I was looking for wahala where there existed none.
I cannot remember how many times I referred to our 'method of attack' and our increasing sole dependence on the brilliance of Hazard. I criticized JM many times for being too defence-centric in his approach to games.
I brought this up again in pre-season, highlighting how nothing had changed and how we may struggle this season. So it baffles me when I see such optimism being displayed.
And the reason I kept talking about this was simple. If you don't build a side that wins games on the back of the sheer amount of attacking chances created as a unit (not from the same individual time after time), when you need to score goals to get you out of big mess, it won't magically happen.
While many are complaining about how we are shipping goals, what about what we are creating in attack? Over 80 percent of our goals so far this season have come from either set-pieces or unforgivable errors by the opposition. We just cannot create enough clear-cut chances to score goals.
But the interesting thing is, it didn't start this season. For so long, it's been a problem. Since JM returned. Too many times we struggled to open up teams that were resolute at the back.
The philosophy has always remained questionable. If your first approach to winning a game is preventing the opposition from scoring, then some day, when the defensive unit is faulty, you will struggle to score goals. Because the 'method of attack' has always been weak.
JM cannot fix this. It is beyond him. Because the very solution to the problem is fundamentally in contrast to his philosophy of the game.
It's time for a change. This is an operational/tactical blunder allowed to carry on for so long, the effects are now manifesting in manner of an insurmountable mental uphill.
It's time to make a change. Because although it sounds implausible right now to many, we could very well be in a relegation battle very soon. There is bad blood and total disrespect for JM's approach from everyone - players, team medics, FA, referees and the media. Wow! This is the most intelligent and objective Chelsea fan I have ever met. The emboldened has been a point I have tried so hard to share but sentiments would not allow others to see. Chelsea is in a dilemma; while it may seem right to sack Jose, yet it is very expensive, besides there are no top manager available for now apart from Ancelloti who already has had a stint. One could risk any of those unsung heroes in some of those obscure leagues, for example Fatih Terim. What do you think? |

After 10 games, Alexis- 6goals Giroud- 5goals Both can get double figures before 20games which is good. Walcott now needs to step up his game and catch up while we expect the likes of Ozil, Cazorla, Ramsey and even 'school boy' Oxlaide to take their share. pazienza: Well, I'd say start Walcott. His electric pace run defenders down, and when they are knackered from tears and wears, Giroud is introduced to finish them off.
It's a nice strategy that has been working.
Secondly, Walcott introduces a kind of tactical dilemma to teams playing against Arsenal.
They are caught defending too deep to avoid being caught by Walcott pace, so much that they give too much room to our tricky midfielders who gets too much room to control the game and still open them up by using Bellerin pace on the wings.
Those of them that elect to defend high and put our Midfielders under pressure like Leicester and Watford ( to some extent) attempted to do, get either opened up by Walcott pace or burn out from excessive high tempo marking, making the introduction of Giroud fatal to them. I was jusy laughing as I read. So true. It makes me excited. 3pts against Everton, Man Utd beat Man City and we go top. |

With Ramsey out for at least 6weeks, Arsene Wenger will turn to Oxlaide Chamberlain. Is it a good sign for The Arsenal?
Ramsey has been the choice for RW because of the variety he brings throughout the pitch- defence, midfield and attack; and also because despite a string of errors he actually is one of the most intelligent and technically gifted players in the team. But despite being a Mr Utility, Ox happen to offer more threat going forward.
Ox has excellent foot work, one of the best dribblers in the league, he has got speed and stamina for his age, a powerful long range strike etc. His problem from personal observation is that he tends to play before he thinks, and when in a hurry he loses the ball or a pass, and the team is put under pressure from counter attack which usually ends in a goal (vs Monaco and vs West Ham). These mistakes which I call 'school boy errors' stem from lack of experience which itself is due to lack of playing time.
With the quality and potentials in Ox, he carries a huge weight of expectations both from Arsenal and England fans alike, he has just got to step up, and right now there is no better time.
He has got 6weeks to achieve his potential or burst, especially with young vibrant youth players like Iwobi, Campbell, and Jeff waiting on the wings.
Personally I think within this 6weeks of regular playing time he will gain the necessary team work experience; and with his talent, may even put Ramsey finally out of the first team because he was actually preferred by the manager at the beginning of the season.
So we are either about to see another star emerge or another failed project. |

On comparing between Sanchez and Ozil, I have mentioned before how Ozil's demeanor betrays him, while Sanchez's vigor usually gets him an ear shutting applause.
But many fail to observe how critical Ozil's contribution is to the team. If you were told that he... 1. Covers more grounds 2. Makes and wins more tackles 3. Creates more scoring chances 4. Poses more threat 5. Gives team mates better confidence ...than Sanchez, would you believe? Infact Ozil is the reason Sanchez is playing so well.

pazienza: Letting them have the possession was part of the plan, knowing that we have better midfielders that can switch defense into attack in a split second.
They controlled shit, we simply let them have their pedestrian possession. With no Messi like player in their team to make quick mesmerizing runs into the box that would disrupt Arsenal's defensive set up, they were doomed from the start.
Alacantara and Vidal are no better passers than Ozil and Carzola. Yes, Wenger knew that they would want to hold on to the ball, first due to their comfortable position and second since they would want to neutralise Arsenal's urgency to attack. Our better midfielders made the difference. |
